Announcement of 2007 Top Ten News of China＇s Paper Industry

The activity of ＂Top ten news selection for China＇s Paper Industry＂ held by China Paper Newsletter （ China Papermaking Journal Press） has been carried out for 8 years. This activity has been gained much support from leaders, experts and readers, and has positive effect on the propaganda of the achievement of the industry. Explanation of Development Policy of China＇s Paper Industry

Recently Mr. Huang Yunji, Consulting Chief Engineer of China BCEL International Engineering Co., Ltd., Senior Engineer （Professor）, China＇s engineering design master, who was involved in the works of investigation and drafting of＂Development Policy of China＇s Paper Industry＂ （hereinafter refer to ＂Policy＂）, had an interview with our correspondent to show his understanding of the Development Policy of China＇s Paper Industry.

The Paper Industry Development Policies promulgated by the National Development and Reform Commission （NDRC） in Oct. 2007 is the first systematical document on Paper Industry＇s development policies officially launched since the founding of our People＇s Republic in 1949. The promulgation and implementation of the Paper Industry development policies will have important and profound significance to the sustainable, stable and healthy development of China＇s Paper Industry. For this purpose, we specially invite He Yanli, deputy director of the Department of Industrial Policies of NDRC, and Cao Pufang, deputy president of China Paper Association, to further interpret the Policies to help us accurately understand and firmly and earnestly implement all directives in the Policies and contribute for the strategic aim of forging a modernized paper industry in China with advanced equipment, cleaner production, coordinated development, sustainable growth, resources saving and recycling and orderly competition.

The State Environmental Protection Department and the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People＇s Republic of China Jointly issued the bulletin of 11 National Standards for Pollutant Emission, including ＂Discharge Standard of Water Pollutants for Pulp and Paper Industry＂ （GB3544-2008） on June 25, 2008 （No. 26 bulletin of 2008, The State Environmental Protection Department of the People＇s Republic of China）. The 11 standards became effective on August 1, 2008. The ＂Discharge Standard of Water Pollutants for Paper Industry＂ （GB3544-2001） was invalid since the standard became effective. ＂Cleaner Production Standard for Paper Industry （Wastepaper Pulping）＂ （HJ468 2009） Has Been Issued

2019 Annual Report of China's Paper Industry

According to the 2019 annual report of China’s Paper Industry by China Paper Association (CPA), in 2019, there were about 2700 paper & board manufacturers in mainland China. The total production of paper & board was 107.65 million tons, increased by 3.16% and the total consumption was 107.04 million tons, increased by 2.54% compared with 2018, respectively, paper & board per capita consumption was 75 kg (counted in 1.4 billion people). This report includes a rather elaborate analysis of the China’s paper industry and is provided for the readers’ reference.
