The spinneret draw ratio for jets of LC solutions of PPTA (range of 1 to 10) is a basic parameter in spinning of high-strength fibres through an air gap. The strength of the fibres is a function of the conditions of intense spinneret drawing of the jets of LC solutions of PPTA and the spinning speed. Most of the sulfuric acid (solvent) passes into the spinning bath as a result of brief contact of the jet of LC PPTA solution and fibres with it during spinning. Miscibility and crystallization of poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide (PPTA)/nylon 6 and nylon 66 composites prepared by coagulation of isotropic ternary sulfuric acid solutions were studied. The apparent crystallinity of nylon 6 and nylon 66 in molecular composites was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The solvation of nylon 6 crystals in PPTA matrix was observed when the PPTA content exceeds 70 wt%. Cross-hydrogen bonding seems to be responsible for the virtual disappearance of nylon 6 crystals. Specific interaction between PPTA and nylon 6 macromolecules and phase separation during thermal treatment has been discussed.  相似文献

Poly(p-phenylene terephthalamide) (PPTA)/amorphous nylon (AN) molecular composites were prepared from sulfuric acid solution by rapidly coagulating in distilled water. The regenerated films appear homogeneous and transparent. However, the rod-like and flexible macromolecules are probably entrapped in a single phase during rapid coagulation, thus thermodynamically unstable and undergoing phase segregation upon thermal treatment. The miscibility between PPTA/AN was identified by a dielectric relaxation method. Phase behavior and kinetics of phase separation in PPTA/AN mixtures were thoroughly investigated by time-resolved light scattering as well as optical microscope. A pseudo phase diagram reminiscent of a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) was established by a cloud point measurement. Several temperature-jump experiments were undertaken from ambient to a two-phase temperature region. The low PPTA content molecular composites were prepared by coagulating in a non-solvent, then by compression molding below the phase separation temperatures. The 30 wt% PPTA molecular composite exhibits over three-fold increase in tensile modulus relative to that of the neat AN, however, there is little or no improvement in the tensile strength. On the other hand, by a slight addition of AN into PPTA, the tensile and compressive failures of spun fibers may be improved.  相似文献

Poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide (PPTA) and nylons (nylon 6, 66, 11, and 12) molecular and particulate composites were examined with emphasis on rheological, mechanical, and morphological characteristics. These molecular composites were prepared by coagulation in water from isotropic ternary sulfuric acid solutions. Upon heating above the crystal melting temperatures of nylons, the molecular composites undergo phase separation and become two-phase particulate composites. Shear viscosity measurements indicate that the viscosity of nylon 6 and 66 systems has increased for an order of magnitude because of the presence of PPTA, but decreased in the case of nylon 11 and 12 systems. PPTA/nylon 6 and 66 systems exhibit yield behavior, particularly with high PPTA contents. Measurements show an extrudate swell of around 1 in all composition ranges and shear rates. Scanning electron microscopic investigations of low PPTA content particulate composites reveal spherical or long fibrillar morphology of PPTA phase dispersed in nylon matrices. Wide angle X-ray diffraction investigations show no preferred orientation in the extrudates, but biaxial orientation in the case of compressed films. The study on mechanical properties of extrudates of 5 to 10 wt.% PPTA compositions exhibits significant improvement in tensile modulus and tensile strength. The heat-treated extrudates show further increase in tensile modulus and tensile strength, as compared with the unannealed samples, but the elongation at break decreases.  相似文献

The restriction of the zone of stationary jet flow of LC sulfuric-acid solutions of PPTA and the conditions of stable spinning of fibres with small air gaps using spinnerets with small-diameter channels is explained with the well-known theory of resonance in drawing for viscoelastic, non-Newtonian media in continuation of the effect of shear flow in the channels on longitudinal flow in the jets. In spinning fibres from 19.5% LC sulfuric acid solutions of PPTA and copolyamide, drawing of the jet in the spinning bath supplements drawing of the jet in the air gap. The former is slight and is a function of the stress created in deformation of the LC solution in the air gap, area of the jet cross-section on the surface of the spinning bath, and type of polymer. The conditions of extreme spinning regimes with breaks in PPTA and polyamide monofilaments in the spinning bath medium in the absence of resonance in drawing of the jet in an air gap are presented. Mechanical properties of fabricated poly-p-phenylene (PB) parts are compared to those of commerical polyimide. PB showed excellent retention of strength and stiffness at high temperature. Results of environmental exposure and properties of some PB composites are included. In general, PB parts have properties between those of commercial polyimide and carbon graphite.  相似文献

In the present paper we have analytically derived a single-point equation for determining the intrinsic viscosity of a polymer.
