This editorial notes that this issue of the Journal appears under a changed title, a change that reflects more accurately the field of psychology with which the Journal is concerned--clinical psychology--and at the same time augurs a more contemporary interpretation of that field. The title of Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology was endorsed and is now official. In addition, the editor states that he is hopeful that further experience in his role will identify ways in which the Journal can serve clinical psychology more effectively. Once again, a change has occurred. As you probably noticed, the color of the cover for this issue of the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (JCCP) is different, signaling the “changing of the guard” of the editorial team. JCCP has a long-standing legacy of excellence in publishing high-quality, cutting-edge, and innovative research and scholarship in clinical psychology. Its increasing Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) impact factor rating continues to attest to its influence on the field overall. As the new editor, I intend to do my utmost to preserve this reputation. Moreover, I am humbled upon reflecting on those before me in this position, as well as excited about shepherding such a premier journal over the course of the next 6 years. I am cognizant not only of the impact that this journal has on the science of clinical psychology but also of its influence on clinical practice and service delivery via the dissemination and adoption of evidenced-based interventions. In this context, I am grateful for having been able to assemble such a high-caliber team of associate and consulting editors. This editorial presents some ideas for the future of JCCP in terms of content, structure, and format. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved) 相似文献

This issue marks the beginning of my editorship of Consulting Psychology Journal: Practice and Research. Each incoming editor of a journal puts a new stamp on it, emphasizing continuity in some areas and undertaking new directions in others. In this statement of editorial policy for my tenure as the journal's editor I identify planned changes and new directions for the journal as well as editorial policies. I base these approaches both on my sense of the journal's needs and on issues I consider important for advancing the intellectual vitality of the field of consulting psychology. Outgoing editor Richard Diedrich's stewardship of this journal for the past 10 years is recognized. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved) 相似文献

This, the last issue of the Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology, brings to an end an alliance of some 44 years' standing. In January of 1965 the journal will be split into two independent periodicals, the Journal of Abnormal Psychology and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. This editorial provides a brief history of the journal as it relates to these two important fields in psychology. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved) 相似文献

In this editorial, the author notes that rejection rates in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology have been high for some time and provides a commentary on some specific problems of authorship and editorship in the hope that it may be of value to reader and writer alike. Philip Kendall's (1997) editorial encouraged authors in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (JCCP) to report effect sizes and clinical significance. The present authors assessed the influence of that editorial--and other American Psychological Association initiatives to improve statistical practices--by examining 239 JCCP articles published from 1993 to 2001. For analysis of variance, reporting of means and standardized effect sizes increased over that period, but the rate of effect size reporting for other types of analyses surveyed remained low. Confidence interval reporting increased little, reaching 17% in 2001. By 2001, the percentage of articles considering clinical (not only statistical) significance was 40%, compared with 36% in 1996. In a follow-up survey of JCCP authors (N=62), many expressed positive attitudes toward statistical reform. Substantially improving statistical practices may require stricter editorial policies and further guidance for authors on reporting and interpreting measures. He notes that the next step is to sell CPJ to the institutional subscribers who will make the journal not only a financial success but also a major influence in the development of the field of consultation and the thinking and practice of consulting practitioners. He also discusses the importance of local groups of consulting psychologists, as the field of consulting evolves, in providing a nucleus of committed consultants to build local and regional associations that play an important role in the development of the area of professional practice. Despite the fact that the Division of Consulting Psychology was one of the earliest divisions organized within APA, a distinct literature for consulting psychology has been slow in developing. As President-elect Dave Hellkamp has discussed in his historical articles in this journal, Division 13 was originally a division of Fellows of APA and membership was restricted to psychologists who had already demonstrated competency and achievement in another area of psychology, often clinical psychology. In this Editor's Column, the editor introduces the current special issue of the Consulting Psychology Journal. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved) 相似文献

After 10 years as editor of the Consulting Psychology Bulletin cum Consulting Psychology Journal, the time has come to pass the baton to the new editor, Dick Diedrich. This will be my last editor's column. Without getting maudlin, it has been a memorable 10 years for me and, I hope, the journal. Taking over a well-edited divisional newsletter from Paul Lloyd, I shared my vision of creating a journal devoted to consultation with the divisional leadership after several years on the job. They were enthusiastic and very supportive. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved) 相似文献

Editorial notes that psychological journals are in the dilemma of serving two functions: the older purpose of a forum of broad communication and discussion, and the ever-growing function of a research repository for experimental findings. The assumption in the first purpose is that the journal has readers who regard it as their medium for the exchange of ideas. Two forces, however, are destroying this journal function: Increasing specialization of knowledge, and research output that is growing at a faster rate than journal space. Discussion focuses on whether there are any changes in policy which should be inaugurated with a new administration of the Journal of Abnormal and Social Psychology that might improve the character of the compromises necessary to serve the dual functions of concise research reporting and broad communication needs.
