Various conditions under which the hollow fiber membrane separation system would be the optimal selection are investigated in terms of cost effectiveness. Numerical simulation is carried out to examine the effects of different configurations such as single-stage, two-stage and three-stage CO2 separation processes. In particular, the hollow fiber membrane processes for CO2 separation with vacuum pumps, heat exchangers, coolers and compressors to provide pressurized feed streams are analyzed. Operating costs are evaluated and compared numerically for the processes with and without recycle streams to compare feasibility for commercial implementation while maintaining the purity and recovery ratio as high as possible.  相似文献

A bubbling fluidized bed reactor was used to study CO2 capture from flue gas by using a potassium-based solid sorbent, sorbKX35 which was manufactured by the Korea Electric Power Research Institute. A dry sorbent, sorbKX35, consists of K2CO3 for absorption and supporters for mechanical strength. To increase initial CO2 removal, some amount of H2O was absorbed in the sorbent before injecting simulated flue gas. It was possible to achieve 100% CO2 removal for more than 10 minutes at 60°C and a residence time of 2 s with H2O pretreatment. When H2O pretreatment time was long enough to convert K2CO3 of sorbKX35 into K2CO3 · 1.5H2O, CO2 removal was excellent. The results obtained in this study can be used as basic data for designing and operating a large scale CO2 capture process with two fluidized bed reactors. CO2 reforming of CH4 was performed using Ni catalyst supported on La-hexaaluminate which has been an well-known material for high-temperature combustion. La-hexaaluminate was synthesized by sol-gel method at various conditions where different amount of Ni (5–20 wt%) was loaded. Ni/La-hexaaluminate experienced 72 h reaction and its catalytic activity was compared with that of Ni/Al2O3, Ni/La-hexaaluminate shows higher reforming activity and resistance to coke deposition compared to the Ni/Al2O3 model catalyst. Coke deposition increases proportionally to Ni content. Consequently, Ni(5)/La-hexaaluminate(700) is the most efficient catalyst among various Ni/La-hexaaluminate catalysts regarding the cost of Ni in Ni(X)/La-hexaaluminate catalysts. BET surface area, XRD, EA, TGA and TPO were performed for surface characterization. This work was presented at the 6 th Korea-China Workshop on Clean Energy Technology held at Busan, Korea, July 4–7, 2006.  相似文献

Amine is one of candidate solvents that can be used for CO2 recovery from the flue gas by conventional chemical absorption/desorption process. In this work, we analyzed the impact of different amine absorbents and their concentrations, the absorber and stripper column heights and the operating conditions on the cost of CO2 recovery plant for post-combustion CO2 removal. For each amine solvent, the optimum number of stages for the absorber and stripper columns, and the optimum absorbent concentration, i.e., the ones that give the minimum cost for CO2 removed, is determined by response surface optimization. Our results suggest that CO2 recovery with 48 wt% DGA requires the lowest CO2 removal cost of $43.06/ton of CO2 with the following design and operating conditions: a 20-stage absorber column and a 7-stage stripper column, 26 m3/h of solvent circulation rate, 1903 kW of reboiler duty, and 99°C as the regenerator-inlet temperature.  相似文献

Published data for an operating power plant, the ELCOGAS 315 MWe Puertollano plant, has been used as a basis for the simulation of an integrated gasification combined cycle process with CO2 capture. This incorporated a fixed site carrier polyvinylamine membrane to separate the CO2 from a CO-shifted syngas stream. It appears that the modified process, using a sour shift catalyst prior to sulphur removal, could achieve greater than 85% CO2 recovery at 95 vol% purity. The efficiency penalty for such a process would be approximately 10% points, including CO2 compression. A modified plant with CO2 capture and compression was calculated to cost €2320/kW, producing electricity at a cost of 7.6 € cents/kWh and a CO2 avoidance cost of about €40/tonne CO2.  相似文献

The current studies on power plant technologies suggest that Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) systems are an effective and economic CO2 capture technology pathway. In addition, the system in conventional configuration has the advantage of being more “CO2 capture ready” than other technologies. Pulverized coal boilers (PC) have, however, proven high technical performance attributes and are economically often most practical technologies. To highlight the pros and cons of both technologies in connection with an integrated CO2 capture, a comparative analysis of ultrasupercritical PC and IGCC is carried out in this paper. The technical design, the mass and energy balance and the system optimizations are implemented by using the ECLIPSE chemical plant simulation software package. Built upon these technologies, the CO2 capture facilities are incorporated within the system. The most appropriate CO2 capture systems for the PC system selected for this work are the oxy-fuel system and the postcombustion scheme using Monoethanolamine solvent scrubber column (MEA). The IGCC systems are designed in two configurations: Water gas shift reactor and Selexol-based separation. Both options generate CO2-rich and hydrogen rich-gas streams. Following the comparative analysis of the technical performance attributes of the above cycles, the economic assessment is carried out using the economic toolbox of ECLIPSE is seamlessly connected to the results of the mass and energy balance as well as the utility usages. The total cost assessment is implemented according to the step-count exponential costing method using the dominant factors and/or a combination of parameters. Subsequently, based on a set of assumptions, the net present value estimation is implemented to calculate the breakeven electricity selling prices and the CO2 avoidance cost.  相似文献

Environmental legislation, with its increasing pressure on the energy sector to control greenhouse gases, is a driving force to reduce CO2 emissions. In this paper, pre-combustion CO2 capture through integration of a site utility system with an integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) is investigated as an option to provide a compressed CO2-rich stream from a process site for sequestration. This work presents a two-step procedure for integration and optimization of a site utility system with an IGCC plant: (i) screening and optimization of IGCC plant performance parameters; (ii) integration and optimization of the utility system of the site with the IGCC plant. In the first step, an optimization approach applies the results of screening studies based on rigorous simulation of the IGCC. Having fixed the inlet fuel flow rate, the IGCC design parameters (including oxygen consumption, diluent flow rate and turbine exit pressure) are optimized for maximum power generation. Energy flows between the IGCC and CO2 compression train are considered. In the second step, the economic and operating performance of the utility system integrated with the IGCC plant are modeled and optimized for minimum operating cost to find the most appropriate level of integration. In a case study illustrating the approach, 94% of the fuel is gasified; additional power generation offsets the operating costs of pre-combustion CO2 capture.  相似文献

Carbon dioxide is the most important anthropogenic greenhouse gas and it accounts for about 80% of all greenhouse gases (GHG). The global atmospheric CO2 concentrations have been increased significantly and have become the major source responsible for global warming; the greatest environmental challenge the world is facing now. The efforts to control the GHG emissions include the recovery of CO2 from flue gas. In this work, feasibility analysis, based on a single stage membrane process, has been carried out with an in-house membrane program interfaced within process simulation program (AspenHysys) to investigate the influence of process parameters on the energy demand and flue gas processing cost. A novel CO2-selective membrane with the facilitated transport mechanism has been employed to capture CO2 from the flue gas mixtures. The results show that a membrane process using the facilitated transport membrane can also be considered as an alternative CO2 capture process and it is possible to achieve more than 90% CO2 recovery and 90% CO2 purity in the permeate with reasonable energy consumption compared to amine absorption and other capture techniques.  相似文献

An efficient design for pressure swing adsorption (PSA) operations is introduced for CO2 capture in the pre-combustion process to improve H2 recovery and CO2 purity at a low energy consumption. The proposed PSA sequence increases the H2 recovery by introducing a purge step which uses a recycle of CO2-rich stream and a pressure equalizing step. The H2 recovery from the syngas can be increased over 98% by providing a sufficient purge flow of 48.8% of the initial syngas feeding rate. The bed size (375m3/(kmol CO2/s)) and the energy consumption for the compression of recycled CO2-rich gas (6 kW/(mol CO2/s)) are much smaller than those of other PSA processes that have a CO2 compression system to increase the product purity and recovery.  相似文献

Impurities such as hydrogen sulfide, water vapor and heavy hydrocarbons in natural gas have considerable effects on the membrane performance. Small amounts of condensable and polymer soluble components in the feed gas cause swelling or plasticization of glassy membranes, leading to a reduction in membrane selectivity. In the present research the influence of ethane was investigated on the permeance and selectivity of two commercially available hollow fiber membranes, namely Cardo-type polyimide and PPO hollow fibers for CO2/CH4 separations. It was concluded that the gas mixture permeation rate was increased in the presence of C2H6. However, the CO2/CH4 separation factors remained almost the same in the presence and absence of the C2H6.  相似文献

PSA [poly-(styrene-methyl acrylic acid)] latex particle has been taken into account as template material in SiO2 hollow spheres preparation. TiO2-doped SiO2 hollow spheres were obtained by using the appropriate amount of Ti(SO4)2 solution on SiO2 hollow spheres. The photodecomposition of the MB (methylene blue) was evaluated on these TiO2-doped SiO2 hollow spheres under UV light irradiation. The catalyst samples were characterized by XRD, UV-DRS, SEM and BET. A TiO2-doped SiO2 hollow sphere has shown higher surface area in comparison with pure TiO2 hollow spheres. The 40 wt% TiO2-doped SiO2 hollow sphere has been found as the most active catalyst compared with the others in the process of photodecomposition of MB (methylene blue). The BET surface area of this sample was found to be 377.6 m2g−1. The photodegradation rate of MB using the TiO2-doped SiO2 catalyst was much higher than that of pure TiO2 hollow spheres.  相似文献

In this study, removal of SO2 from gas stream was carried out by using microporous polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) asymmetric hollow fiber membrane modules as gas-liquid contactor. The asymmetric hollow fiber membranes used in this study were prepared polyvinylidene fluoride by a wet phase inversion method. Water was used as an internal coagulant and external coagulation bath for all spinning runs. An aqueous solution containing 0.02 M NaOH was used as the absorbent. This study attempts to assess the influence of PEG additive, absorbent flow rate, SO2 concentration, gas flow rate and gas flow direction on the SO2 removal efficiency and overall mass transfer coefficient. The effect of liquid flow rate on SO2 removal efficiency shows that at very low liquid flow rate, the NaOH available at the membrane surface for reacting with SO2 is limited due to the liquid phase resistance. As liquid flow rate is above the minimum flow rate which overcomes the liquid phase resistance, the SO2 absorption rate is controlled by resistance in the gas phase and the membrane. The SO2 absorption rate with inlet SO2 concentration was sharply increased by using hollow fiber membranes compared to a conventional wetted wall column because the former has higher gas liquid contacting area than the latter. The mass transfer coefficient is independent of pressure. When the gas mixture was fed in the shell side, the removal efficiency of SO2 declined because of channeling problems on the shell side. Also, the addition of PEG in polymer dopes increased SO2 removal efficiency. COX-free hydrogen production from ammonia decomposition in a membrane reactor (MR) for PEM fuel cells was studied using a commercial chemical process simulator, Aspen HYSYS®. With process simulation models validated by previously reported kinetics and experimental data, the effect of key operating parameters such as H2 permeance, He sweep gas flow, and operating temperature was investigated to compare the performance of an MR and a conventional packed-bed reactor (PBR). Higher ammonia conversions and H2 yields were obtained in an MR than ones in a PBR. It was also found that He sweep gas flow was favorable for XNH3 enhancement in an MR with a critical value (5 kmol h-1), above which no further effect was observed. A higher H2 permeance led to an increased H2 yield and H2 yield enhancement in an MR with the reverse effect of operating temperature on the enhancement. In addition, lower operating temperature resulted in higher XNH3 enhancement and H2 yield enhancement as well as NG cost savings in a MR compared to a conventional PBR.  相似文献

Energy source diversification through development of coalbed methane (CBM) resources is one of the key strategies to make a country less dependent on simple energy resources (e.g., crude oil, natural gas, nuclear energy etc.). Especially, enhanced coalbed methane (ECBM) technology can be expected to secure the resources as well as environmental benefits. However, the raw CBM gas obtained from CO2 ECBM contains a considerable amount of CO2, and the CO2 content increases depending on the operation time of the facility. Considering the changes of the CBM composition, we developed process simulations of the CBM separation & purification processes based on the amine absorption to meet the design specifications (CH4 purity of product stream: 99%, CH4 recovery rate: 99%) with different CBM feed gas conditions. Using the developed simulation model, we performed an economic evaluation using unit methane production cost (MPC) considering coal-swelling types and facility operation time, and established an operation strategy under different natural gas market scenarios.  相似文献

Among carbon capture and storage (CCS), the post-combustion capture of carbon dioxide (CO2) by means of chemical absorption is actually the most developed process. Steady state process simulation turned out as a powerful tool for the design of such CO2 scrubbers. Besides steady state modeling, transient process simulations deliver valuable information on the dynamic behavior of the system. Dynamic interactions of the power plant with the CO2 separation plant can be described by such models. Within this work a dynamic process simulation model of the absorption unit of a CO2 separation plant was developed. For describing the chemical absorption of CO2 into an aqueous monoethanolamine solution a rate based approach was used. All models were developed within the Aspen Custom Modeler® simulation environment. Thermo physical properties as well as transport properties were taken from the electrolyte non-random-two-liquid model provided by the Aspen Properties® database. Within this work two simulation cases are presented. In a first simulation the inlet temperature of the flue gas and the lean solvent into the absorber column was changed. The results were validated by using experimental data from the CO2SEPPL test rig located at the Dürnrohr power station. In a second simulation the flue gas flow to the separation plant was increased. Due to the unavailability of experimental data a validation of the results from the second simulation could not be achieved.  相似文献

The operation of PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) processes is a highly nonlinear and challenging problem. We propose a systematic procedure to achieve the optimal operation of a PSA process. The model of the PSA process for CO2 separation and recovery is developed first and optimization is performed to identify optimal operating conditions based on the model. The effectiveness of the model developed is demonstrated by numerical simulations and experiments using CO2 and N2 gases and zeolite 13X. Breakthrough curves and temperature changes in the bed are computed from the model and the results are compared with those of experiments. The effects of the adsorption time and reflux ratio on the product purity and the recovery are identified through numerical simulations. The optimization problem is formulated based on nonlinear equations obtained from simulations. The optimal operating conditions identified are applied to experiments. The results show higher recovery of CO2 under optimal operating conditions.  相似文献

Although aqueous ammonia solution has been focused on the removal of CO2 from flue gas, there have been very few reports regarding the underlying analysis of the reaction between CO2 and NH3. In this work, we explored the reaction of CO2-NH3-H2O system at various operating temperatures: 40 °C, 20 °C, and 5 °C. The CO2 removal efficiency and the loss of ammonia were influenced by the operating temperatures. Also, infrared spectroscopy measurement was used in order to understand the formation mechanism of ion species in absorbent, such as NH2COO, HCO3, CO32−, and NH4+, during CO2, NH3, and H2O reaction. The reactions of CO2-NH3-H2O system at 20 °C and 40 °C have similar reaction routes. However, a different reaction route was observed at 5 °C compared to the other operating temperatures, showing the solid products of ammonium bicarbonates, relatively. The CO2 removal efficiency and the formation of carbamate and bicarbonate were strongly influenced by the operating temperatures. In particular, the analysis of the formation carbamate and bicarbonate by infrared spectroscopy measurement provides useful information on the reaction mechanism of CO2 in an aqueous ammonia solution.  相似文献

A mathematical model for the dynamic performance of gas separation with high flux, asymmetric hollow fibre membranes was developed considering the permeate pressure build‐up inside the fibre bore and cross flow pattern with respect to the membrane skin. The solution technique provides reliable examination of pressure and concentration profiles along the permeator length (both residue/permeate streams) with minimal effort. The proposed simulation model and scheme were validated with experimental data of gas separation from literature. The model and solution technique were applied to investigate dynamic performance of several membrane module configurations for methane recovery from biogas (landfill gas or digester gas), considering biogas as a mixture of CO2, N2 and CH4. Recycle ratio plays a crucial role, and optimum recycle ratio vital for the retentate recycle to permeate and permeate recycle to feed operation was found. From the concept of two recycle operations, complexities involved in the design and operation of continuous membrane column were simplified. Membrane permselectivity required for a targeted separation to produce pipeline quality natural gas by methane‐selective or nitrogen‐selective membranes was calculated. © 2012 Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering  相似文献

Chemical-looping combustion (CLC) is a promising technology for the combustion of gas or solid fuel with efficient use of energy and inherent separation of CO2. A reactivity study of CaSO4 oxygen carrier in CLC of methane was conducted in a laboratory scale fixed bed reactor. The oxygen carrier particles were exposed in six cycles of alternating reduction methane and oxidation air. A majority of CH4 reacted with CaSO4 to form CO2 and H2O. The oxidation was incomplete, possibly due to the CaSO4 product layer. The reactivity of CaSO4 oxygen carrier increased for the initial cycles but slightly decreased after four cycles. The product gas yields of CO2, CH4, and CO with cycles were analyzed. Carbon deposition during the reduction period was confirmed with the combustible gas (CO+H2) in the product gas and slight CO2 formed during the early stage of oxidation. The mechanism of carbon deposition and effect was also discussed. SO2 release behavior during reduction and oxidation was investigated, and the possible formation mechanism and mitigation method was discussed. The oxygen carrier conversion after the reduction decreased gradually in the cyclic test while it could not restore its oxygen capacity after the oxidation. The mass-based reaction rates during the reduction and oxidation also demonstrated the variation of reactivity of CaSO4 oxygen carrier. XRD analysis illustrated the phase change of CaSO4 oxygen carrier. CaS was the main reduction product, while a slight amount of CaO also formed in the cyclic test. ESEM analysis demonstrated the surface change of particles during the cyclic test. The reacted particles tested in the fixed bed reactor were not uniform in porosity. EDS analysis demonstrated the transfer of oxygen from CaSO4 to fuel gas while leaving CaS as the dominant reduced product. The results show that CaSO4 oxygen carrier may be an interesting candidate for oxygen carrier in CLC. The adsorption characteristics of CO2 and N2 in 13X zeolites have been studied by the molecular simulation and N2 adsorption experiment. It is found that the simulation results by Dreiding force fields are in an agreement with the published data. The influence of the σ and ε parameters of OZ and Na+ on the adsorption performance is discussed. Then the optimized force field parameters are obtained. Specific surface area (S B ) is calculated by simulation and experiment. Its relative error is just only 4.3 %. Therefore, it is feasible that S B of 13X zeolites is obtained by the simulation methods. Finally, the impacts of pressure and temperature on adsorption characteristics are investigated. At low pressure, CO2 adsorption in 13X zeolites belongs to the surface adsorption. As the pressure increase, the partial multilayer adsorption appears along with the surface adsorption. N2 adsorption in 13X zeolites is different from that of CO2. At low temperature of 77 K, two primary peaks are caused by the surface adsorption and multilayer adsorption respectively regardless of pressure variation. When the temperature is 273 K, the energy distribution curve appears undulate at low pressures. Then it becomes stable with the pressure increase. The surface adsorption plays an important role at the relative high pressures. The results will help to provide the theory guide for the optimization of force field parameters of adsorbents, and it is very important significance to understand the adsorption performance of zeolites.  相似文献
