Comments on "Flash memory under cosmic and alpha irradiation"

In the original paper by A.D. Fogle et al. (see ibid., vol.4, no.3, p.371-6, Sep. 2004), the authors discuss the effects of ionizing radiation on flash memories, concluding that the information stored in contemporary flash memories is almost insensitive to ionizing radiation. This result is in partial agreement with various papers recently presented in the literature, which unfortunately are not mentioned, with one exception. The present authors believe that data reported in some of these and in other papers quoted in this communication could help the interested reader to clarify the data presented by Fogle et al., through a critical comparison with existing results in the literature.     

Comments on "Deficiencies in the way scattering parameters are Taught"

Equivalent representation of multiport circuits by the use of scattering parameters is of fundamental importance, especially in the microwave circuits area. However, in most cases, only a few pages of textbooks are devoted to this topic; based on the author's experience, the students find it somehow difficult to understand the physical meaning of scattering parameters (while they find other representations, like Z, Y, hybrid, or transmission parameters, easy to understand). For this reason, the contribution given by Sadiku (IEEE Trans. Educ., Vol. 46, no. 3, Aug. 2003, pp. 399-404) is very important. Furthermore, in Sadiku's paper, three nontrivial examples are reported, through which the students can gain understanding of this fundamental tool. In two of the three examples, some points are unclear; this correspondence analyzes this lack of clarity.

希尔伯特-黄变换(HHT)是分析和处理非线性、非平稳信号的一种新而有效的方法。文中深入研究了HHT方法的基本原理,经验模态分解(EMD)和Hilbert谱;并用仿真实例对该方法进行了更详细的说明;最后综述了该方法在地球物理学、电力工程和生物医学领域中的应用,进一步说明HHT方法在信号处理中的有效性和优越性。

"数字信号处理"课程是高等学校信息类相关专业的专业基础课,其理论性强且实践环节重要,是一门重要的理论与实践、原理与应用紧密结合的课程.为了适应本科院校培养高素质人才的需要,本文探讨了双语教学的重要意义及"数字信号处理"双语教学中存在的问题,提出了课程改革的基本思路.教学实践表明,教学改革取得了明显的效果.     

Comments on "The art of back-of-the envelope ray tracing" [andreply]

The author argues that the original paper ("The art of back-of-the envelope ray tracing", Rolland et. al, see ibid., vol.44, p.365-72, 2001) contains unnecessary, confusing, or incomplete information and they discuss the justifications for the criticisms given. The original authors' responses to these comments are also included in the paper     

小波变换及其在水轮机水压脉动信号处理中的应用

混流式水轮机在非设计工况下的水压脉动是影响水力机组稳定性的重要因素。基于傅里叶变换的传统谱分析方法，从本质上来说只适用于稳定信号的分析，在水轮机水压脉动的研究中具有一定的局限性。因此，本文引入小波变换的方法，用几个模拟水轮机尾水管水压脉动信号特点的模拟信号，对小波变换在水压脉动信号处理中应用的可能性做了初步探讨。
