While considerable success has attended the application of CAD in the electronics, aerospace, ship, offshore structure and other industries, less progress has been reported in general mechanical engineering; yet the opportunities are great and the CAD idea started in mechanical engineering.This paper considers some of the problems in applying computer aid to the sequential processes of initial design, detailing, planning, piece-part manufacture and assembly. Recent achievements in separate parts of this process are identified, especially in modelling and in user-oriented interactive input of design parameters and insight-giving output of analysis results. Case histories are mentioned and possibilities for a cost-effective solution to the CAD/CAM problem in medium-sized engineering companies are discussed.  相似文献

Job characteristics and performance data for users and nonusers of a CAD system for mechanical design work were quantitatively compared. Results indicated that for engineers, CAD users experienced more interdependence on their job while, for drafters, CAD users experienced less discretion, creativity, and teamwork. These differences between users and nonusers were not related to individual performance. Implications for practitioners implementing CAD and researchers studying technological change are drawn.  相似文献

Although many sophisticated CAD integrated environments have been developed and are currently adopted by enterprises in the design of mechanical parts and components, such kinds of tools should be extended in order to reach higher levels of performance. To this aim, Artificial Intelligence techniques are particularly suitable to provide CAD tools with a sort of “intelligence” typical of human experts. In particular a complex mechanical object to be designed exploiting CAD systems can be considered as an aggregation of simpler components that have to be put together in order to satisfy precise design rules owned by expert designers core knowledge. This paper presents an ontological approach to the problem of representing relationships among step-by-step more complex parts, in order to obtain a final product that fully meets initial requirements.  相似文献

This paper describes the work undertaken, at the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers of Gijón, for the development of computer aided systems, in the line of expert systems, concentrating research, and development in the field of mechanical design. We are using this software as an integrated tool in our work for teaching machine design. Models to develop the software of several components are defined, and their application methodology is also presented.

An application which tackles the problem of configuration design, applied to mechanical transmission is also described in this article. The failure of machine elements in mechanical design, frequently occurs due to poorly detailed projects.

The developed work is applied to the design of configurations for mechanical systems, by means of an intelligent program which incorporates the process of geometric design, the calculation of mechanical elements, the selection in electronic databases and the output of CAD plans.

Configuration design is a type of design problem where the different elements (which make up the system, mechanism or machine project object), are selected from databases and connected in order to complete the requirements (functionality, specifications, and established restrictions) outlined in the problem.  相似文献
