This paper reviews and proposes blind multiuser detection techniques for space division multiple access systems. In this case, multiple users can be separated due to their spatial position by means of an adaptive antenna array. The constant modulus algorithm is employed in the array weights computation together with the concept of explicit decorrelation, for the sake to recover all users simultaneously. In order to improve the convergence rate and the steady-state error behavior, two new features are introduced. The first contribution is the proposition of a least-squares version of the CMA technique for multiuser detection. Afterwards an adaptive procedure is proposed to provide an improved explicit decorrelation. The performance improvements are confirmed bx some simulation results.  相似文献

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and multicarrier code division multiple access (MC‐CDMA) systems are comparatively evaluated for power line communications (PLC) in a frequency‐selective fading environment with additive coloured Gaussian noise which is used to model the actual in‐home power line channel. OFDM serves as a benchmark in order to measure the performance of various MC‐CDMA systems, since multicarrier modulation systems are considered the best candidate for this kind of channel. Both single‐user and multi‐user cases are taken into account, making use of the appropriate combiner schemes to take full advantage of each case. System efficiency is enhanced by the application of different coding techniques, a fact which shows that powerful coding can make the difference under such a hostile medium. The impact of block interleaving is investigated, while the simulation examines how different modulation schemes fair under the imposed channel conditions as well. The performance of the system is assessed by the commonly used bit error rate vs signal‐to‐noise ratio diagrams and there is also a comparison regarding throughput efficiency among all the tested systems. In this paper, a new mechanism of faster routing known as message priority and fast routing (MPFR) mechanism in optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) is proposed for optimization of routing performance and to provide effective data transfer. In this proposed work, we have reduced the size of the header bits which are used in MPFR mechanism. In proposed algorithm, with accordance to packet header, the message size is being increased and priority bit is being added which leads to faster data transfer rate and effective data transfer in OCDMA. The transmitter sent the 2D codes to the MPFR which is then added priority bit. If the cover bit in any codes is enabling then the code is considered to be a priority packet and its superior bit then the code is considered to be routing. A modern novel approach which reduces the overhead for fast data transfer is proposed on name of MPFR. Thus the routing can be faster and the codes to be sent are being priorities and send. Thus the OCDMA can now become much faster to be used in critical areas. MPFR protocol, which prioritizes the code with high priority and also it reduces the header processing time of the codes with increase in message size. The prioritization of the code helped to process the particular code first and then rest of the codes and with increase in message size, help to reduce the transmission and processing time of the packet header.  相似文献

In this paper, the performance of uncoded uplink transmissions in a broadband code division multiple access (CDMA) system using tapped delay line (TDL) antenna array under multipath conditions is investigated. An expression for broadband CDMA system is derived to calculate the optimal weights of TDL antenna array. Using the derived broadband expression, the performance of TDL antenna array is investigated and compared with that of the already existing narrowband systems. Simulation results show that TDL antenna array can reduce multipath fading and multiple access interference (MAI). It is shown that if the signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) level is maintained at 20 dB and two‐ray channel model is used, two antennas with four taps each can support 30 users with a BER of 10?3. If three‐ray channel model is used, the same antenna arrangement is not enough to support 30 users. To support these 30 users with BER of 10?3, the number of taps needs to be increased to eight. Finally, the number of taps needs to be further increased to 16 if four‐ray channel model is used. Not only that, the SNR should also be increased to 25 dB to achieve the same BER. A symbol detector for wireless systems using space division multiple access (SDMA) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is derived. The detector uses a sphere decoder (SD) and has much less computational complexity than the naive maximum likelihood (ML) detector. We also show how to detect non-constant modulus signals with constrained least squares (CLS) receiver, which is designed for constant modulus (unitary) signals. The new detector outperforms existing suboptimal detectors for both uncoded and coded systems.  相似文献

To satisfy ever-increasing demands for higher data rates, as well as to allow more users to simultaneously access the network, interest has peaked in what has come to be known as wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA). We discuss those basic characteristics of WCDMA waveforms that make them attractive for high data rate transmission over wireless and mobile channels. We emphasize how the choice of spread bandwidth affects the bit error rate of the system, as well as how it affects the reliability of various subsystems, such as those that perform coarse acquisition and adaptive power control. We then discuss how some of the waveforms being considered for cellular WCDMA systems differ from those in use in the narrowband CDMA cellular system, and emphasize, as an example, multicarrier CDMA. Finally, we discuss other potential enhancements to WCDMA systems, such as the use of interference suppression at the receiver, or multiple antennas at the transmitter  相似文献

A novel multiuser-interference (MUI)-free code division multiple access (CDMA) transceiver for frequency-selective multipath channels is developed. Relying on chip-interleaving and zero padded transmissions, orthogonality among different users' spreading codes is maintained at the receiver even after frequency-selective propagation. As a result, deterministic multiuser separation with low-complexity code-matched filtering becomes possible without loss of maximum likelihood optimality. In addition to MUI-free reception, the proposed system guarantees channel-irrespective symbol detection and achieves high bandwidth efficiency by increasing the symbol block size. Filling the zero-gaps with known symbols allows for perfectly constant modulus transmissions. Important variants of the proposed transceivers are derived to include cyclic prefixed transmissions and various redundant or nonredundant precoding alternatives. (Semi-) blind channel estimation algorithms are also discussed. Simulation results demonstrate improved performance of the proposed system relative to competing alternatives  相似文献

Binary spreading sequences or chaotic nonbinary sequences are used in code division multiple access systems. In contrast to those sequences, this paper presents the theory, simulation, and implementation in digital signal processor technology of a code division multiple access system that uses random spreading sequences. The expressions for probability of bit error are derived for the cases when the additive white Gaussian noise and fading are present in the channel. Because the overall transmitted signal is a sum of random signals, the security of signal transmission in this communication system can be enormously increased and will depend on the goodness of the random sequence generator. The developed theory was confirmed by a prototype of the system that was designed in digital signal processor technology. The prototype used spreading sequences that had statistical characteristics very close to the characteristics of theoretical random sequences. The main problem in the system is how to synchronize the received spread sequence with the locally generated sequence. Hence, a mathematical model of the synchronization block for the system has been separately designed and developed. The synchronization procedure has been demonstrated on the basis of application of a periodically repeated pilot sequence. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A new detector for optical code-division multiple-access (CDMA) communication systems is proposed. This detector is called the chip-level receiver. Both ON-OFF keying (OOK) and pulse-position modulation (PPM) schemes, that utilize this receiver, are investigated in this paper. For OOK, an exact bit error rate is evaluated taking into account the effect of both multiple-user interference and receiver shot noise. An upper bound on the bit error probability for pulse-position modulation (PPM)-CDMA system is derived under the above considerations. The effect of both dark current and thermal noises is neglected in our analysis. Performance comparisons between chip-level, correlation, and optimum receivers are also presented. Both correlation receivers with and without an optical hardlimiter are considered. Our results demonstrate that significant improvement in the performance is gained when using the chip-level receiver in place of the correlation one. Moreover the performance of the chip-level receiver is asymptotically close to the optimum one. Nevertheless, the complexity of this receiver is independent of the number of users, and therefore, much more practical than the optimum receiver  相似文献

In a code division multiple access (CDMA) wireless communication system, each mobile handset must be power controlled such that the power received at the base station is roughly the same. Otherwise, the interferences between mobile handsets will degrade the performance and increase the error rate. When a mobile handset uses channels from the neighbouring cells, it will raise its power to meet the threshold of signal strength. This will also increase the interference in the home cell. Therefore, we do not want a mobile handset to use channels from other cells blindly. In this paper, we propose an uplink channel assignment method based on the directed retry concept for CDMA cellular systems. The purpose is to achieve load balancing between neighbouring cells and at the same time controlling the interference levels at the base stations such that it will not affect the performance. Space division multiple access (SDMA) aided orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems assisted by efficient multiuser detection (MUD) techniques have recently attracted intensive research interests. The maximum likelihood detection (MLD) arrangement was found to attain the best performance, although this was achieved at the cost of a computational complexity, which increases exponentially both with the number of users and with the number of bits per symbol transmitted by higher order modulation schemes. By contrast, the minimum mean-square error (MMSE) SDMA-MUD exhibits a lower complexity at the cost of a performance loss. Forward error correction (FEC) schemes such as, for example, turbo trellis coded modulation (TTCM), may be efficiently combined with SDMA-OFDM systems for the sake of improving the achievable performance. Genetic algorithm (GA) based multiuser detection techniques have been shown to provide a good performance in MUD-aided code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. In this contribution, a GA-aided MMSE MUD is proposed for employment in a TTCM-assisted SDMA-OFDM system, which is capable of achieving a similar performance to that attained by its optimum MLD-aided counterpart at a significantly lower complexity, especially at high user loads. Moreover, when the proposed biased Q-function based mutation (BQM) assisted iterative GA (IGA) MUD is employed, the GA-aided system's performance can be further improved, for example, by reducing the bit error ratio (BER) measured at 3 dB by about five orders of magnitude in comparison to the TTCM-assisted MMSE-SDMA-OFDM benchmarker system, while still maintaining modest complexity.  相似文献

A new segmented correlating decoder of synchronous optical CDMA using modified prime sequence codes is proposed. The performance of the proposed system is analyzed under the assumption of Poisson shot noise model for the receiver photodetector. A first-generation design, called Rainbow, for optical wavelength division multiaccess (WDMA) computer networks is described. The Rainbow research prototype takes the form of a direct detection, circuit-switched metropolitan-area-network (MAN) backbone consisting of 32 IBM PD/2's as gateway stations, communicating with each other at 200-Mb/s data rates and submillisecond switching times. The prototype architectural options for realizing WDMA networks are discussed, along with reasons for choosing this design point. Experimental measurements on the prototype are presented. Time division multiple access (TDMA) is a classic approach to multiple access in digital cellular wireless communications systems. The authors summarize a number of frequency and time slot allocation techniques for enhancing the capacity and flexibility of TDMA-based systems. They also describe how the problems of fading, delay spread, time variability and interference affect TDMA systems, and how they may he countered and even exploited by appropriate techniques of detection, diversity, coding, adaptive equalization and slow frequency hopping (FH). It is worth emphasizing that the use of one of these techniques, slow random FH, results in a system that is in effect a hybrid of TDMA and code division multiple access (CDMA)  相似文献
