Model predictive control (MPC) is a popular controller design technique in the process industry. Conventional MPC uses linear or nonlinear discrete-time models. Recently, we have extended MPC to a class of discrete event systems that can be described by a model that is “linear” in the (max,+) algebra. In our previous work, we have only considered MPC for the deterministic noise-free case without modeling errors. In this paper, we extend our previous results on MPC for max-plus-linear systems to cases with noise and/or modeling errors. We show that under quite general conditions the resulting optimization problems can be solved very efficiently.  相似文献

This work considers the problem of stabilization of nonlinear systems subject to state and control constraints, for cases where the state constraints need to be enforced at all times (hard constraints) and where they can be relaxed for some time (soft constraints). We propose a Lyapunov-based predictive control design that guarantees stabilization and state and input constraint satisfaction for all times from an explicitly characterized set of initial conditions. An auxiliary Lyapunov-based analytical bounded control design is used to characterize the stability region of the predictive controller and also provide a feasible initial guess to the optimization problem in the predictive controller formulation. For the case when the state constraints are soft, we propose a switched predictive control strategy that reduces the time during which state constraints are violated, driving the states into the state and input constraints feasibility region of the Lyapunov-based predictive controller. We demonstrate the application of the Lyapunov-based predictive controller designs through a chemical process example.  相似文献

In this paper, a linear programming method is proposed to solve model predictive control for a class of hybrid systems. Firstly, using the (max, +) algebra, a typical subclass of hybrid systems called max-plus-linear (MPL) systems is obtained. And then, model predictive control (MPC) framework is extended to MPL systems. In general, the nonlinear optimization approach or extended linear complementarity problem (ELCP) were applied to solve the MPL-MPC optimization problem. A new optimization method based on canonical forms for max-min-plus-scaling (MMPS) functions (using the operations maximization, minimization, addition and scalar multiplication) with linear constraints on the inputs is presented. The proposed approach consists in solving several linear programming problems and is more efficient than nonlinear optimization. The validity of the algorithm is illustrated by an example.  相似文献

Robust model predictive control using tubes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A form of feedback model predictive control (MPC) that overcomes disadvantages of conventional MPC but which has manageable computational complexity is presented. The optimal control problem, solved on-line, yields a ‘tube’ and an associated piecewise affine control law that maintains the controlled trajectories in the tube despite uncertainty; computational complexity is linear (rather than exponential) in horizon length. Asymptotic stability of the controlled system is established.  相似文献

We consider nominal robustness of model predictive control for discrete-time nonlinear systems. We show, by examples, that when the optimization problem involves state constraints, or terminal constraints coupled with short optimization horizons, the asymptotic stability of the closed loop may have absolutely no robustness. That is to say, it is possible for arbitrarily small disturbances to keep the closed loop strictly inside the interior of the feasibility region of the optimization problem and, at the same time, far from the desired set point. This phenomenon does not occur when using model predictive control for linear systems with convex constraint sets. We emphasize that a necessary condition for the absence of nominal robustness in nonlinear model predictive control is that the value function and feedback law are discontinuous at some point(s) in the interior of the feasibility region.  相似文献

We focus on the development of a Lyapunov-based economic model predictive control (LEMPC) method for nonlinear singularly perturbed systems in standard form arising naturally in the modeling of two-time-scale chemical processes. A composite control structure is proposed in which, a “fast” Lyapunov-based model predictive controller (LMPC) using a quadratic cost function which penalizes the deviation of the fast states from their equilibrium slow manifold and the corresponding manipulated inputs, is used to stabilize the fast dynamics while a two-mode “slow” LEMPC design is used on the slow subsystem that addresses economic considerations as well as desired closed-loop stability properties by utilizing an economic (typically non-quadratic) cost function in its formulation and possibly dictating a time-varying process operation. Through a multirate measurement sampling scheme, fast sampling of the fast state variables is used in the fast LMPC while slow-sampling of the slow state variables is used in the slow LEMPC. Appropriate stabilizability assumptions are made and suitable constraints are imposed on the proposed control scheme to guarantee the closed-loop stability and singular perturbation theory is used to analyze the closed-loop system. The proposed control method is demonstrated through a nonlinear chemical process example.  相似文献

In the standard model predictive control implementation, first a steady-state optimization yields the equilibrium point with minimal economic cost. Then, the deviation from the computed best steady state is chosen as the stage cost for the dynamic regulation problem. The computed best equilibrium point may not be the global minimum of the economic cost, and hence, choosing the economic cost as the stage cost for the dynamic regulation problem, rather than the deviation from the best steady state, offers potential for improving the economic performance of the system. It has been previously shown that the existing framework for MPC stability analysis, which addresses to the standard class of problems with a regulation objective, does not extend to economic MPC. Previous work on economic MPC developed new tools for stability analysis and identified sufficient conditions for asymptotic stability. These tools were developed for the terminal constraint MPC formulation, in which the system is stabilized by forcing the state to the best equilibrium point at the end of the horizon. In this work, we relax this constraint by imposing a region constraint on the terminal state instead of a point constraint, and adding a penalty on the terminal state to the regulator cost. We extend the stability analysis tools, developed for terminal constraint economic MPC, to the proposed formulation and establish that strict dissipativity is sufficient for guaranteeing asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system. We also show that the average closed-loop performance outperforms the best steady-state performance. For implementing the proposed formulation, a rigorous analysis for computing the appropriate terminal penalty and the terminal region is presented. A further extension, in which the terminal constraint is completely removed by modifying the regulator cost function, is also presented along with its stability analysis. Finally, an illustrative example is presented to demonstrate the differences between the terminal constraint and the proposed terminal penalty formulation.  相似文献

In the last years focus has been put in the development of distributed Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithms. With a few exceptions, they have been mostly developed in the discrete-time framework. However, discretization of large-scale systems may destroy the sparsity of the original continuous-time models, making distributed control design and implementation more difficult. Also, more in general, discrete-time control of continuous-time systems does not allow to consider the process inter-sampling behavior. In this paper we present a novel non-cooperative distributed predictive control algorithm for continuous-time systems based on robust MPC concepts. The convergence properties of the proposed control scheme are stated, and its realizability is tested through a simulation case study.  相似文献

The event-triggered control is of compelling features in efficiently exploiting system resources, and thus has found many applications in sensor networks, networked control systems, multi-agent systems and so on. In this paper, we study the event-triggered model predictive control (MPC) problem for continuous-time nonlinear systems subject to bounded disturbances. An event-triggered mechanism is first designed by measuring the error between the system state and its optimal prediction; the event-triggered MPC algorithm that is built upon the triggering mechanism and the dual-mode approach is then designed. The rigorous analysis of the feasibility and stability is conducted, and the sufficient conditions for ensuring the feasibility and stability are developed. We show that the feasibility of the event-triggered MPC algorithm can be guaranteed if, the prediction horizon is designed properly and the disturbances are small enough. Furthermore, it is shown that the stability is related to the prediction horizon, the disturbance bound and the triggering level, and that the state trajectory converges to a robust invariant set under the proposed conditions. Finally, a case study is provided to verify the theoretical results.  相似文献

This work focuses on the solution to the problem of model predictive control of time delay processes with both integrating and stable modes and model uncertainty. The controller is developed for the practical case of zone control and input target tracking. The method is based on a state-space model that is equivalent to the analytical form of the step response model corresponding to the system transfer function. Here, this model is extended to the time delay system. The proposed controller is evaluated through simulation of the of two control reactor systems and the results confirms the robustness of the proposed approach.  相似文献

This paper proposes an adaptive model predictive control (MPC) algorithm for a class of constrained linear systems, which estimates system parameters on-line and produces the control input satisfying input/state constraints for possible parameter estimation errors. The key idea is to combine the robust MPC method based on the comparison model with an adaptive parameter estimation method suitable for MPC. To this end, first, a new parameter update method based on the moving horizon estimation is proposed, which allows to predict an estimation error bound over the prediction horizon. Second, an adaptive MPC algorithm is developed by combining the on-line parameter estimation with an MPC method based on the comparison model, suitably modified to cope with the time-varying case. This method guarantees feasibility and stability of the closed-loop system in the presence of state/input constraints. A numerical example is given to demonstrate its effectiveness.  相似文献

In this paper, a robust model predictive control (MPC) is designed for a class of constrained continuous-time nonlinear systems with bounded additive disturbances. The robust MPC consists of a nonlinear feedback control and a continuous-time model-based dual-mode MPC. The nonlinear feedback control guarantees the actual trajectory being contained in a tube centred at the nominal trajectory. The dual-mode MPC is designed to ensure asymptotic convergence of the nominal trajectory to zero. This paper extends current results on discrete-time model-based tube MPC and linear system model-based tube MPC to continuous-time nonlinear model-based tube MPC. The feasibility and robustness of the proposed robust MPC have been demonstrated by theoretical analysis and applications to a cart-damper springer system and a one-link robot manipulator.  相似文献

This paper presents consistent criteria for evaluating the selection of tuning parameters for an industrial model predictive control of large-scale cross-directional (CD) processes using a two-dimensional (temporal and spatial) frequency analysis technique. The concept of rectangular circulant matrices (RCMs) and their properties are presented. It is shown that large-scale CD processes can be approximated as RCMs and then diagonalized by complex Fourier matrices, allowing analysis in terms of a family of SISO transfer functions across the spatial frequencies. Familiar concepts from control engineering such as bandwidth and stability margin are extended into the two-dimensional frequency domain, providing intuitive measures of closed-loop performance and robustness.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a class of continuous-time hybrid dynamical systems called integral continuous-time hybrid automata (icHA) for which we propose an event-driven optimization-based control strategy. Events include both external actions applied to the system and changes of continuous dynamics (mode switches). The icHA formalism subsumes a number of hybrid dynamical systems with practical interest, e.g., linear hybrid automata. Different cost functions, including minimum-time and minimum-effort criteria, and constraints are examined in the event-driven optimal control formulation. This is translated into a finite-dimensional mixed-integer optimization problem, in which the event instants and the corresponding values of the control input are the optimization variables. As a consequence, the proposed approach has the advantage of automatically adjusting the attention of the controller to the frequency of event occurrence in the hybrid process. A receding horizon control scheme exploiting the event-based optimal control formulation is proposed as a feedback control strategy and proved to ensure either finite-time or asymptotic convergence of the closed-loop.  相似文献

This paper provides a novel solution to the problem of robust model predictive control of constrained, linear, discrete-time systems in the presence of bounded disturbances. The optimal control problem that is solved online includes, uniquely, the initial state of the model employed in the problem as a decision variable. The associated value function is zero in a disturbance invariant set that serves as the ‘origin’ when bounded disturbances are present, and permits a strong stability result, namely robust exponential stability of the disturbance invariant set for the controlled system with bounded disturbances, to be obtained. The resultant online algorithm is a quadratic program of similar complexity to that required in conventional model predictive control.  相似文献

Distributed model predictive control (MPC), having been proven to be efficient for large-scale control systems, is essentially enabled by communication network connections among involved subsystems (agents). This paper studies the distributed MPC problem for a class of continuous-time decoupled nonlinear systems subject to communication delays. By using a robustness constraint and designing a waiting mechanism, a delay-involved distributed MPC scheme is proposed. Furthermore, the iterative feasibility and stability properties are analyzed. It is shown that, if the communication delays are bounded by an upper bound, and the cooperation weights and the sampling period are designed appropriately, the overall system state converges to the equilibrium point. The theoretical results are verified by a simulation study.  相似文献

In this paper, we define several instances of model predictive control (MPC) for linear systems, including both deterministic and stochastic formulations. We show by explicit computation of the associated control laws that, under certain conditions, different formulations lead to identical results. This paper provides insights into the performance of stochastic MPC. Amongst other things, it shows that stochastic MPC and traditional MPC can give identical results in special cases. In cases where the solutions are different, we show that the explicit formulation of the problem can give insight into the performance gap.  相似文献

This paper proposes an LMI approach to model predictive control of nonlinear systems with switching between multiple modes. In this approach, at each mode, the nonlinear system is divided to a linearized model in addition to a nonlinear term. A sum of squares (SOS) optimization problem is presented to find a quadratic bound for the nonlinear part. The stability condition of the switching system is obtained by using a discrete Lyapunov function and then the sufficient state feedback control law is achieved so that guarantees the stability of the system and also minimizes an infinite prediction horizon performance index. Moreover, two other LMI optimization problems are solved at each mode in order to find the maximum area region of convergence of the nonlinear system inscribed in the region of stability. The performance and effectiveness of the proposed MPC approach are illustrated by two case studies.  相似文献
