Deasphalting the tar of mangyshlak petroleum with propane

Conclusions Study of deasphalting with propane of the tar from a mixture of Uzen' and Zhetybai petroleums in two stages showed the effectiveness of extracting the oily components and solid hydrocarbons under the following conditions: 51 dilution by weight in each stage, and temperature range at the top of the column 65–75°C.Translated from Khimiya i Tekhnologiya Topliv i Masel, No. 2, pp. 16–18, February, 1968.     

The Phazaphot instrument for determination of the low-temperature properties of petroleum products

A new method of determining the solid point and flow point of crude oil and petroleum products, crystallization/melting of waxes in petroleum products, and the Phazaphot instrument for implementing the method are described. The method consists of recording the intensity of light mirror-reflected from the surface of the sample during structural transitions when the temperature changes. Comparison of the physicochemical characteristics of biofuels and petroleum fuels

The physicochemical properties of liquid biofuels of different types (bioalcohols, biodiesel, etc.) in comparison to the same characteristics of petroleum fuels were examined. The advantages and disadvantages of biofuels with respect to these characteristics were demonstrated.
