THE PROCESS of developing voluntary electrical standards is one of the outstanding activities of the IEEE Industry Applications Society. The resulting IEEE standards give long-lasting and widespread benefits to Society members, and this is perhaps most evident in the Society's ``Color Book' series. The Society standards activity also provides a significant service to other members of the IEEE. For instance, ten percent of all income from IEEE standards document sales in recent years has come from IAS standards [1]. This income production is ahead of the collective standards produced by any other IEEE society. (IEEE standards document sales in 1984 alone totalled $1.8 million.) As described in the IEEE Standards Manual [2], an IEEE standard represents a consensus of all interests concerned with the scope of the standard, provides a common ground for communication among those using the standard, and gives an authoritative reference to the state of technology. Each existing IEEE standard must be kept up to date by means of mandatory review at least every five years. The IEEE is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and IEEE standards are routinely submitted to ANSI for adoption as American National Standards.  相似文献

针对数字化变电站中智能设备的IEEE1588协议测试需求,提出了一种适用于数字化变电站的IEEE1588测试仪的研制方案。该方案分析了IEEE1588测试仪的系统功能要求、介绍了其硬件及软件设计,并研究了测试案例控制模式和测试自动化实现。利用该测试仪构成的闭环测试系统,可以实现数字化变电站中智能设备的IEEE1588协议一致性测试。实际应用效果表明该测试仪能正确完成智能设备的IEEE1588协议实时闭环测试,可显著提高智能设备IEEE1588协议测试效率,确保智能设备IEEE1588协议实现的正确性和可靠性。  相似文献

Energy management system operators perform regular outage simulations in order to ensure secure operation of power systems. AC power flow based outage simulations are not preferred because of insufficient computational speed. Hence several outage models and computational methods providing acceptable accuracy have been developed. On the other hand, double branch outages are critical rare events which can result in cascading outages and system collapse. This paper presents a double branch outage model and formulation of the phenomena as a constrained optimization problem. Optimization problem is then solved by using differential evolution method and particle swarm optimization algorithm. The proposed algorithm is applied to IEEE test systems. Computational accuracies of differential evolution based solutions and particle swarm optimization based solutions are discussed for IEEE 30 Bus Test System and IEEE 118 Bus Test System applications. IEEE 14 Bus Test System, IEEE 30 Bus Test System, IEEE 57 Bus Test System, IEEE 118 Bus Test System and IEEE 300 Bus Test System simulation results are compared to AC load flows in terms of computational speed. Finally the performance of the proposed method is analyzed for different outage configurations.  相似文献

Accreditation of engineering education programs is a responsibility of ECPD. IEEE, as a Participating Body of ECPD, participates through committees of the Educational Activities Board and through individual IEEE members selected to work with ECPD Committees. In addition to satisfying ECPD criteria for engineering programs, electrical engineering and computer engineering programs that are to be accredited must comply with IEEE guidelines for their programs. Interest in accreditation by IEEE members and officers has increased in recent years. This increased interest has resulted in increased participation by IEEE in the accreditation of engineering programs.  相似文献

This article on Michael Faraday is a reprint from Scanning the Past, a history of electrical engineering and its pioneers printed by the IEEE, The book contains James E. Brittain's monthly historical articles from the Proceedings of the IEEE. James Brittain is an IEEE Fellow elected in 1987, "for development of the field of electrical history." He was Chairman of the IEEE History Committee in 1978/1979 and 1988/1989. Throughout his career, he has served in editorial positions of the Proceedings of the IEEE, Transactions, and Editorial Board of the IEEE Spectrum. He received a Ph.D. of History of Science and Technology in 1970 from Case Western Reserve University. He was at the Georgia Institute of Technology School of History, Technology, and Society when he retired in 1995 to Hendersonville, North Carolina, where he continues to write for publication. The first thing to understand about the IEEE Industry Applications Society's (IAS's) finances is that the Society does not have any money. IAS has no bank account and no checkbook. IEEE has the money. With the exception of conferences, the IEEE receives and spends all the money that we show as the Society?s income and expenses. The IEEE has set up an accounting system that credits IAS accounts with certain categories of income and debits IAS accounts for certain categories of expenses. On those occasions when the IEEE says that our share of an expense is a certain amount, the IEEE simply removes that amount from one of the IAS accounts. We can argue, but the money disappears anyway.  相似文献

The IEEE Standard 841 was developed to identify additional specific features deemed necessary for application of induction motors in the petroleum and chemical industry. The Pulp and Paper Industry Committee (PPIC) of the IEEE Industry Applications Society has also been studying the IEEE Standard 841 for possible adoption by the pulp and paper industry. Members of the PPIC Ad Hoc Committee on IEEE 841 have suggested additional requirements to those in the existing standard. This paper discusses a comparison testing program conducted by the Motor Systems Resource Facility, an EPRI/BPA center at Oregon State University, Corvallis, in support of an industrial investigation of the available motors manufactured to the IEEE Standard 841. Seven major motor manufacturers participated in this study. Each manufacturer provided a 50-hp, a 100-hp, and a 200-hp "Standard" IEEE 841 motor for examination on delivery and IEEE 112 Method A efficiency testing. All of the motors were horizontal, three phase, 60 Hz, four pole, and 460 V (except one that was 575 V)  相似文献

In 1974 the Electrical Cell Line Working Group of the Chemical Industry Committee prepared a trial-use standard for Electrical Safety Practices in Electrolytic Cell Line Working Zones. Comments on the trial-use standard were incorporated into a full-status standard and published as IEEE Std 463-1977, IEEE Standard for Electrical Safety Practices in Electrolytic Cell Line Working Zones. IEEE Std 463-1977 was reaffirmed in 1987. IEEE Std 463 was used as a source document for Article 668, Electrolytic Cells, of the National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70); Part 1, Chapter 4H, Specific Purpose Equipment and Installations-Electrolytic Cells of the Standard for Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee Work Places (NFPA 70B-1988); and OSHA 1910.306(h), Electrolytic Cells. In 1991 a working group was formed to review and update IEEE Std 463. The purpose of this article is to describe the current update to IEEE Std 463. The current application of IEEE Std 463 in relation to NFPA 70; NFPA 70E, Parts 1 and 2; and OSHA 1910 Subpart S-Electrical are discussed  相似文献

IEEE 1588是关于网络测量和控制系统的精密时间协议(precision time protocol,PTP)标准,其网络对时精度可达亚ms级。文章介绍了IEEE 1588标准定义的高精度时钟同步的原理以及PTP时钟模型,针对遵循IEC 61850标准的变电站通信网络拓扑结构,提出了IEEE 1588在数字化变电站内的应用方案,讨论了各方案的优缺点,并给出了时钟设备的冗余配置方法及其功能实现。文章从理论上分析了IEEE 1588标准的时钟同步误差,最后从全网的角度探讨了该标准的具体应用策略。  相似文献
