The torsional impact response of a penny-shaped crack lying on a bimaterial interface is considered in this study. Laplace and Hankel transforms are used to reduce the problem to the solution of a pair of dual integral equations. The solution to the dual integral equations is expressed in terms of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind with a finite integral kernel. A numerical Laplace inversion routine is used to recover the time dependence of the solution. The dynamic stress intensity factor is determined and its dependence on time and material constants is discussed.  相似文献

The torsional impact response of a penny-shaped interface crack in a layered composite is considered in this study. The geometry of the composite consists of two bonded dissimilar elastic layers which are sandwiched between two half-spaces made of a different material. Laplace and Hankel transforms are used to reduce the problem to the solution of a pair of dual integral equations. These equations are solved by using an integral transform technique and the result is expressed in terms of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. A numerical Laplace inversion routine is used to recover the time dependence of the solution. The dynamic stress intensity factor is determined and its dependence on time, the material properties and the geometry parameters is discussed.  相似文献

The solution of crack problems in plane or antiplane elasticity can be reduced to the solution of a singular integral equation along the cracks. In this paper the Radau-Chebyshev method of numerical integration and solution of singular integral equations is modified, through a variable transformation, so as to become applicable to the numerical solution of singular integral equations along semi-infinite intervals, as happens in the case of semi-infinite cracks, and the direct determination of stress intensity factors at the crack tips. This technique presents considerable advantages over the analogous technique based on the Gauss-Hermite numerical integration rule. Finally, the method is applied to the problems of (i) a periodic array of parallel semi-infinite straight cracks in plane elasticity, (ii) a similar array of curvilinear cracks, (iii) a straight semi-infinite crack normal to a bimaterial interface in antiplane elasticity and (iv) a similar crack in plane elasticity; in all four applications appropriate geometry and loading conditions have been assumed. The convergence of the numerical results obtained for the stress intensity factors is seen to be very good.  相似文献

The dynamic response of a central crack in a strip composite under normal impact is analyzed. The crack is oriented normally to the interfaces. Laplace and Fourier transform techniques are used to reduce the elastodynamic problem to a pair of dual integral equations. The integral equations are solved by using an integral transform technique and the result is expressed in terms of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. A numerical Laplace inversion routine is used to recover the time dependence of the solution. The dynamic stress intensity factor is determined and its dependence on time, the material properties and the geometrical parameters is discussed.  相似文献

Scattering of transient horizontal shear waves by a finite crack located at the interface of two bonded dissimilar elastic solids is investigated in this study. Laplace and Fourier transform technique is used to reduce the problem to a pair of dual integral equations. The solution of the dual integral equation is expressed in terms of the Fredholm integral equation of the second kind having the kernel of a finite integration. Dynamic stress intensity factor is obtained as a function of the material and geometric properties and time.  相似文献

The time evolution of the stress intensity factors (S.I.F's) at both tips of a finite crack lying near the interface of a viscoelastic anisotropic bimaterial, is studied. The simultaneous integral equations for the dislocation density of the crack developed in [2], are now used in the Laplace transformed domain. Their numerical solution and the solution via Neumann series are used for the determination of the Laplace trasformed S.I.F's. In the case of rectilinear anisotropies the latter are extracted from the M(p) integral which has been evaluated along a circle at infinity and along the interface. Numerical results for the real time dependence of the S.I.F's for two different anisotropies and geometries are also discussed.  相似文献

The axisymmetric response of a flat annular crack in an infinite medium subjected to normal impact load is investigated in this study. A step stress is applied to the crack surface. The singular solution is equivalent to solutions of the problem of diffraction of normally incident tension wave by a flat annular crack, and the problem of the sudden appearance of a flat annular crack in a uniform tensile stress field. Laplace and Hankel transforms are used to reduce the problem to the solution of a set of triple integral equations in the Laplace transform domain. These equations are solved by using a integral transform technique and the result is expressed in terms of a singular integral equation of the first kind with the kernel which is improved by means of a contour integration on the Riemann surface. A numerical Laplace inversion routine is used to recover the time dependence of the solution. Numerical results of the dynamic stress intensity factor are obtained to show the influence of inertia, the ratio of the inner radius to the outer one and Poisson's ratio on the load transmission to the crack tip.  相似文献

In this paper, the interface cracking between a functionally graded material (FGM) and an elastic substrate is analyzed under antiplane shear loads. Two crack configurations are considered, namely a FGM bonded to an elastic substrate containing a single crack and a periodic array of interface cracks, respectively. Standard integral-transform techniques are employed to reduce the single crack problem to the solution of an integral equation with a Cauchy-type singular kernel. However, for the periodic cracks problem, application of finite Fourier transform techniques reduces the solution of the mixed-boundary value problem for a typical strip to triple series equations, then to a singular integral equation with a Hilbert-type singular kernel. The resulting singular integral equation is solved numerically. The results for the cases of single crack and periodic cracks are presented and compared. Effects of crack spacing, material properties and FGM nonhomogeneity on stress intensity factors are investigated in detail.  相似文献

Impact response of a finite crack in an orthotropic strip   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Summary The elastodynamic response of a finite crack in an infinite orthotropic strip under normal impact is investigated in this study. The crack is situated symmetrically and oriented in a direction normal to the edges of the strip. Laplace and Hankel transforms are used to reduce the transient problem to the solution of a pair of dual integral equations in the Laplace transform plane. The solution to the dual integral equations is then expressed in terms of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Numerical values on the dynamic stress intensity factor for some fiber-reinforced composite materials are obtained and the results are graphed to display the influence of the material orthotropy.  相似文献

The problem of a semi-infinite impermeable mode-III crack in a piezoelectric material is considered under the action of impact loads. For the case when a pair of concentrated anti-plane impact loads and electric displacements are exerted symmetrically on the upper and lower surfaces of the crack, the asymptotic electroelastic field ahead of the crack tip is determined in explicit form. The dynamic intensity factors of electroelastic field and dynamic mechanical strain energy release rate are obtained. The obtained results can be taken as fundamental solutions, from which general results may directly be evaluated by integration. The method adopted is to reduce the mixed initial-boundary value problem, by using the Laplace and Fourier transforms, into two simultaneous dual integral equations. One may be converted into an Abel's integral equation and the other into a singular integral equation with Cauchy kernel, and the solutions of both equations can be determined in closed-form, respectively. For some particular cases, the present results reduce to the previous results.  相似文献

In the present paper, by use of the boundary integral equation method and the techniques of Green fundamental solution and singularity analysis, the dynamic infinite plane crack problem is investigated. For the first time, the problem is reduced to solving a system of mixed-typed integral equations in Laplace transform domain. The equations consist of ordinary boundary integral equations along the outer boundary and Cauchy singular integral equations along the crack line. The equations obtained are strictly proved to be equivalent with the dual integral equations obtained by Sih in the special case of dynamic Griffith crack problem. The mixed-type integral equations can be solved by combining the numerical method of singular integral equation with the ordinary boundary element method. Further use the numerical method for Laplace transform, several typical examples are calculated and their dynamic stress intensity factors are obtained. The results show that the method proposed is successful and can be used to solve more complicated problems.  相似文献

In this paper the stress intensity factors are discussed for an inclined elliptical crack near a bimaterial interface. The solution utilizes the body force method and requires Green’s functions for perfectly bonded semi-infinite bodies. The formulation leads to a system of hypersingular integral equation whose unknowns are three modes of crack opening displacements. In the numerical calculation, unknown body force densities are approximated by using fundamental density functions and polynomials. The results show that the present method yields smooth variations of stress intensity factors along the crack front accurately. Distributions of stress intensity factors are presented in tables and figures with varying the shape of crack, distance from the interface, and elastic modulus ratio. It is found that the inclined crack can be evaluated by the models of vertical and parallel cracks within the error of 24% even for the cracks very close to the interface.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the plane strain problem of an elastic incompressible layer bonded to a rigid foundation. An upward tensile force is applied to the top surface of the layer through a rigid strip of finite thickness. The layer contains either a finite central crack or two semi-infinite external cracks. The analysis leads to a system of singular integral equations. These integral equations are solved numerically and the interface stress distributions, stress intensity factors at the crack tips and at the corners of the rigid strip, probable cleavage angle for the finite crack and strain energy release rate are calculated for various geometries.  相似文献

The paper examines the elastodynamic response of an infinite two-dimensional orthotr- opic medium containing a central crack under impact shear loading. Laplace and Fourier integral transforms are employed to reduce the problem to a pair of dual integral equations in the Laplace transformed plane. These equations are reduced to integral differential equations, which have been solved in the low frequency domain by iterations. To determine time dependence, these equations are inverted to yield the dynamic stress intensity factor (SIF) for shear point force loading that corresponds to the weight function for the crack under shear loading. It is used to derive SIF for polynomial loading.  相似文献

Maximum stress intensity factors of a surface crack usually appear at the deepest point of the crack, or a certain point along crack front near the free surface depending on the aspect ratio of the crack. However, generally it has been difficult to obtain smooth distributions of stress intensity factors along the crack front accurately due to the effect of corner point singularity. It is known that the stress singularity at a corner point where the front of 3 D cracks intersect free surface is depend on Poisson's ratio and different from the one of ordinary crack. In this paper, a singular integral equation method is applied to calculate the stress intensity factor along crack front of a 3-D semi-elliptical surface crack in a semi-infinite body under mixed mode loading. The body force method is used to formulate the problem as a system of singular integral equations with singularities of the form r −3 using the stress field induced by a force doublet in a semi-infinite body as fundamental solution. In the numerical calculation, unknown body force densities are approximated by using fundamental density functions and polynomials. The results show that the present method yields smooth variations of mixed modes stress intensity factors along the crack front accurately. Distributions of stress intensity factors are indicated in tables and figures with varying the elliptical shape and Poisson's ratio.  相似文献

The time evolution of the force on a dislocation and the near tip stress field of a semi-infinite crack, lying at an angle towards the welded interface of a bimaterial and just touching it, is studied. The bimaterial consists of viscoelastic media with the most general anisotropy. Applying the Laplace transform to the field equations gives similar relations to those considered in [3], provided that appropriate elastic coefficients are replaced by their Laplace-transformed viscoelastic counterparts. Numerical methods are then used for the inversion of both the Laplace and Mellin transforms and numerical results for near crack tip stress fields are presented along with asymptotic ones for small and large times. Corresponding results are presented for the force on a dislocation. For simple anisotropies a relation between the force on a dislocation and the time dependence of appropriate crack tip stresses is established.  相似文献

Summary The transient dynamic stress intensity factor and dynamic energy release rate were determined for a cracked piezoelectric ceramic under normal impact in this study. A plane step pulse strikes the crack and stress wave diffraction takes place. Laplace and Fourier transforms are employed to reduce the transient problem to the solution of a pair of dual integral equations in the Laplace transform plane. The solution of the dual integral equations is then expressed in terms of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. A numerical Laplace inversion technique is used to compute the values of the dynamic stress intensity factor and the dynamic energy release rate for some piezoelectric ceramics, and the results are graphed to display the electroelastic interactions.  相似文献

We consider the problem of determining the distribution of stress in an infinitely long elastic strip containing a Griffith crack which is opened by a thin symmetric wedge. We assume that the strip is bonded to semi-infinite elastic planes on either side and that there is an internal pressure on the part of the crack not in touch with the wedge. By the use of Fourier transforms we reduce the problem to solving a set of triple integral equations with cosine kernel and a weight function. These equations are solved using finite Hilbert transform techniques. The particular case of a rectangular wedge is considered in detail.  相似文献

A three-dimensional solution is presented for the transient response of an infinite plate which contains a rectangular crack. The Laplace and Fourier transforms are used to reduce the problem to a pair of dual integral equations. These equations are solved with the series expansion method. The stress intensity factors are defined in the Laplace transform domain, and they are inverted numerically in the physical space.  相似文献
