A trial and error approach reflects the state of the art in reaction injection molding. Material and process parameters determine the “moldability” of a specific system in a particular application. The concept of “molding areas” on the critical parameters plane can be extended form thermoplastic injection molding (TIM) to reaction injection molding (RIM). In this work moldability diagrams for the filling and curing stages of a RIM process are obtained based on a simplified engineering approach. The key process parameters chosen for the filling stage are initial material temperature and filling time. In the curing stage, the critical parameters are considered to be mold wall temperature and demold time. Experimental results obtained on a laboratory-scale RIM machine on a Crosslinking polyurethane system are used to check the validity of the predicted molding areas. The agreement obtained is satisfactory considering the broad range of processing parameters used. 相似文献

An improved model of the anisotropic flow characteristics of SMC (sheet molding compound) during compression molding is developed. This study is intended to complement our previous paper, which was conducted to determine the anisotropic parameters for short fiber reinforced thermosets SMC (16). Our prior study measured flow viscosities and material anisotropy by means of axisymmetric and plane strain compression molding tests. The current study, in order to identify the superior flow model from the choices (1) isotropic, (2) constant anisotropic and (3) varying anisotropic, applies the finite element method to obtain numerical results, which are subsequently compared with experimental results to determine the flow model with the best fit. The anisotropic parameters of the shear directions are determined by use of normal and planar parameters because SMC is planar isotropic. Six varying anisotropic parameters and six viscosity values are estimated during molding experiments, which are conducted at room temperature so that the polymer does not cure. Two-dimensional molding numerical analyses are carried out to explain two experimental classes, axisymmetric and plane strain compression molding. The load-levels predicted by the isotropic model, anisotropic model (parameter values fixed) and anisotropic model (parameter values varying) are compared with the experimentally derived values, the results showing that the varying anisotropic model best fits SMC compression behavior. 相似文献

以某汽车内饰A、B柱上内饰板产品同模注塑为例,对产品的注塑工艺进行了优化设计,包括不同浇注系统的优化选用、已选定浇注系统的成型质量优化、成型工艺参数优化3个过程。在成型工艺优化中,对传统的BP神经网络进行了基于LM算法的结构改进,采用正交试验粗选优化工艺路径,改进后的LM-BP神经网络对细化优化工艺路径有着较好的预测功能。通过LM-BP神经网络辅助优选,得到了很好的产品注塑工艺组合参数,将之应用于实际注塑时,获得了质量良好的注塑产品,具有较强的设计实践指导意义。 相似文献

A numerical study is carried out on the thermoplastic wheat starch injection molding process. The simulation is performed using currently available molding software to determine optimal molding parameters. The molding of a standardized sample for tensile test is considered. It is shown that the conventional continuum mechanics equations can be used for modeling the injection molding of thermoplastic starch. These equations are solved using the finite element method. Comparisons with some experimental results are presented, indicating good agreement. Data on the processing of thermoplastic starch and several other basic aspects are also provided. 相似文献

This paper deals with pottery and porcelain from the time of the Fall of Rome through the sixteenth century. Italian pottery before the Renaissance and Majolica ware are discussed under Italian pottery. French pottery is classed under the two heads of Faience and Palissy ware. A numerical method is proposed for polymer kinetic parameter estimation of either Structural Reaction Injection Molding (SRIM) or Resin Transfer Molding (RTM). The method simulates either radial flow or axial flow of reactive resins through a fiber preform inside a mold cavity. This method considers a non‐isothermal environment with different inlet boundary conditions. Based on the molding conditions, this method can find the best values of chemical kinetic parameters by comparing the simulated temperature history and the experimental temperature history. Since the kinetic parameters are estimated with the real molding conditions, the simulations using these parameter values can have better agreement with molding data than those parameters which are obtained from idealized conditions such as Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC). The optimization approach was verified by estimating kinetics parameters for RTM data available in the literature. Temperatures predicted by the optimized kinetics parameters are compared with experimental data for two different molding conditions: injection of a thermally activated resin into a radial mold under constant pressure flow, and injection of a mix activated resin into a radial mold under constant volume. In both cases, the optimized kinetics parameters fit the temperature data well. 相似文献

高温、高压的成型条件,使双层变模温制品的成型收缩对工艺参数的变化极为敏感,双层变模温制品的成型收缩控制策略成为提高制品质量的关键。以某空调遥控器前盖双层变模温成型工艺开发为例,探讨并制定了其成型收缩的控制策略。确定了考量成型收缩的多目标评价体系及参数变量,以拉丁超立方取样设计试验,并利用数值模拟软件进行充模、保压及冷却等过程模拟获取试验数据,建立了基于Kriging代理模型的变量与评价指标间的数学关系;利用遗传算法对数学关系进行迭代,寻找最优成型收缩的评价指标及变量组合;最后,将模拟及生产试验对研究策略的科学有效性进行验证。 相似文献

A method for determination of the geometric parameters of the glass band in a tank with tin melt is developed, and the effect of molding conditions on these parameters is investigated. Data providing a more accurate understanding of the processes in different stages of molding are obtained and systematized. It is established that an equilibrium glass band thickness is formed under the effect of the edge-restricting machines and not in free spreading of the melt in the initial stage of molding, as was earlier believed. 相似文献

A model is proposed for the treatment of heat transfer with crystallization during plastics processing in general, and injection molding in particular. The model incorporates experimentally determined crystallization kinetics parameters. It permits the calculation of the distribution of both temperature and crystallinity in the molding.
