This study proposes a trigeneration system based on solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) for generating power, cooling and heating simultaneously. The system mainly contains a SOFC, a gas turbine (GT), an organic Rankine cycle (ORC), a steam ejector refrigerator (SER) and a heat exchanger. The thermodynamic, exergoeconomic and exergoenvironmental models of proposed trigeneration system are developed, and the effects of design parameters on system performances are analyzed. The results indicate that the system average product cost and environmental impact per unit of exergy increase with SOFC inlet temperature and working pressure, the pinch point temperature difference and evaporating pressure of Generator, while decrease with the current density of fuel cell. Finally, optimization is performed to achieve the optimal exergy-based performance. It is revealed that though the system exergy efficiency is decreased by 7.64% after optimization, the system average product cost and environmental impact per unit of exergy are significantly reduced.  相似文献

An energy analysis of three typical solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power systems fed by methane is carried out with detailed thermodynamic model. Simple SOFC system, hybrid SOFC‐gas turbine (GT) power system, and SOFC‐GT‐steam turbine (ST) power system are compared. The influences of air ratio and operative pressure on the performance of SOFC power systems are investigated. The net system electric efficiency and cogeneration efficiency of these power systems are given by the calculation model. The results show that internal reforming SOFC power system can achieve an electrical efficiency of more than 49% and a system cogeneration efficiency including waste heat recovery of 77%. For SOFC‐GT system, the electrical efficiency and cogeneration efficiency are 61% and 80%, respectively. Although SOFC‐GT‐ST system is more complicated and has high investment costs, the electrical efficiency of it is close to that of SOFC‐GT system. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this study, we first consider developing a thermodynamic model of solid oxide fuel cell/gas turbine combined heat and power (SOFC/GT CHP) system under steady-state operation using zero-dimensional approach. Additionally, energetic performance results of the developed model are compared with the literature concerning SOFC/GT hybrid systems for its reliability. Moreover, exergy analysis is carried out based on the developed model to obtain a more efficient system by the determination of irreversibilities. For exergetic performance evaluation, exergy efficiency, exergy output and exergy loss rate of the system are considered as classical criteria. Alternatively, exergetic performance coefficient (EPC) as a new criterion is investigated with regard to main design parameters such as fuel utilization, current density, recuperator effectiveness, compressor pressure ratio and pinch point temperature, aiming at achieving higher exergy output with lower exergy loss in the system. The simulation results of the SOFC/GT CHP system investigated, working at maximum EPC conditions, show that a design based on EPC criterion has considerable advantage in terms of entropy-generation rate.  相似文献

In this article, an internal-reforming solid oxide fuel cell–gas turbine (IRSOFC–GT) hybrid system is modeled and analyzed from thermal (energy and exergy), economic, and environmental points of view. The model is validated using available data in the literature. Utilizing the genetic algorithm optimization technique, multi-objective optimization of modeled system is carried out and the optimal values of system design parameters are obtained. In the multi-objective optimization procedure, the exergy efficiency and the total cost rate of the system (including the capital and maintenance costs, operational cost (fuel cost), and social cost of air pollution for CO, NOx, and CO2) are considered as objective functions. A sensitivity analysis is also performed in order to study the effect of variations of the fuel unit cost on the Pareto optimal solutions and their corresponding design parameters. The optimization results indicate that the final optimum design chosen from the Pareto front results in exergy efficiency of 65.60% while it leads to total cost of 3.28 million US$ year−1. It is also demonstrated that the payback time of the chosen design is 6.14 years.  相似文献

To recover the waste heat from solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and improve the overall electrical efficiency, a new integrated power system driven by SOFC is proposed to achieve the cascade energy utilization. This system integrates an SOFC–GT system with an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as heat sink to recover the cryogenic energy of LNG. Based on the mathematical model, a parametric analysis is conducted to examine the effects of some key thermodynamic parameters on the system performance. The results indicate that the overall electrical efficiency of 67% can be easily achieved for the current system, which can be further improved with parametric optimization. An increase in fuel flow rate of SOFC can raise the net power output, but it has a negative effect on SOFC and overall electrical efficiency. The compressor pressure ratio contributes to an increase in SOFC and overall electrical efficiency, which are contrary to the effects of air flow rate and steam-to-carbon ratio. Under the given conditions, compared with the Kalina sub-system, the ORC sub-system produces 12.6% more power output by utilizing the cryogenic energy of LNG with simple configuration.  相似文献

Coal gasification system integrated with solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) provides a promising energy conversion way owing to its high efficiency. To get a deep insight into the energy performance of this system, a thermodynamic evaluation is implemented. Meanwhile, the technologies of chemical looping and CO2 sorption are introduced into this integration system. It is found that the addition of oxygen carrier and sorbent into coal gasification system can promote the output power of the SOFC with a higher exergy destruction, where the exergy efficiency of most modules in the system can reach 80% except tar separation. The results also reveal that a suitable improvement of gasifying agent amount is beneficial to the energy performance of the system. When the H2O/C molar ratio is increased to 3.0, the SOFC exergy efficiency of 97% can be achieved.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to exploit the waste heat of a biomass-based solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC)–model (a)–in a gas turbine (GT) to enhance the power generation/exergy efficiency (model (b)). Moreover, surplus power which is generated by the GT is transferred to a proton exchange membrane electrolyzer (PEME) for hydrogen production (model (c)). Parametric study is performed to investigate the influence of the effective parameters on performance and economic indicators. Eventually, considering exergy efficiency and total product cost as the objective functions, the proposed models are optimized by multi-objective optimization method based on genetic algorithm. Accordingly, the optimum solution points are gathered as Pareto frontiers and subsequently favorable solution points are ascertained from exergy/economic standpoints. Results of parametric study indicate that model (b) is the best model as it has higher exergy efficiency and lower total product cost. Moreover, model (c) may be a more suitable model compared to the model (a) because of higher exergy efficiency and capability of hydrogen production. The results further show that, at the best final solution point, the exergy efficiency and total product cost of the model (b) would be 33.22% and 19.01 $/GJ, respectively. Corresponding values of exergy efficiency and total product cost of the model (c) are 32.3% and 20.1 $/GJ. Moreover, the rate of hydrogen production of the model (c) is 8.393 kg/day, at the best solution point. Overall, the integration methods are promising techniques for increasing exergy efficiency, reducing total product cost and also for hydrogen production.  相似文献

In the current research, 4E analysis and multi-criteria optimization are applied to the poly generation unit for power, heating, refrigeration, and freshwater generation. This system consists of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), multi-effect thermal vapor desalination (MED-TVC), an organic system with ejector refrigeration (OSER), a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and a domestic hot water generator. The mathematical simulation is applied to assess the performance of the plant at design conditions and the genetic algorithm finds the optimum operating point with two different scenarios. Parametric analysis and multi-objective optimization are carried out. Findings represent that the developed plant can provide 257.65 kW power, 12.13 kW, 7.44 kW cooling and heating load, and 0.04 kg/s freshwater with a total cost rate of 10.62 $/h. In this case, the plant energy and exergy efficiency is 73.9% and 71.35% respectively. The results of multi-objective optimization show that these values can be improved to 79% and 73.9% respectively. In addition, the plant cost can be reached to 10.07 $/h in this condition.  相似文献

Power generation using gas turbine (GT) power plants operating on the Brayton cycle suffers from low efficiencies, resulting in poor fuel to power conversion. A solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is proposed for integration into a 10 MW gas turbine power plant, operating at 30% efficiency in order to improve system efficiencies and economics. The SOFC system is semi-directly coupled to the gas turbine power plant, with careful attention paid to minimize the disruption to the GT operation. A thermo-economic model is developed for the hybrid power plant, and predicts an optimized power output of 21.6 MW at 49.2% efficiency. The model also predicts a breakeven per-unit energy cost of USD 4.70 ¢/kWh for the hybrid system based on futuristic mass generation SOFC costs. Results show that SOFCs can be semi-directly integrated into existing GT power systems to improve their thermodynamic and economic performance.  相似文献

An innovative CCHP system based on SOFC/GT/CO2 cycle and the organic Rankine cycle (ORC) with LNG cold energy utilization is proposed to achieve cascade energy utilization and carbon dioxide capture. The mathematical models are developed and the system performance is analyzed using the energy and exergy methods. The results illustrate that the comprehensive energy utilization, the net power generation and the overall exergy efficiencies of the system can reach about 79.48%, 79.81% and 62.29%, respectively, while the power generation efficiency of the SOFC is 50.96% and the CO2 capture rate of the proposed CCHP system is 79.2 kg/h under the given conditions. It shows that the proposed CCHP system can reach a high energy utilization efficiency with near zero emissions. The influence of some key parameters, such as the fuel utilization factor, the air-fuel ratio, the oxygen concentration in the cathode feed and the compression ratio of the SCO2 turbine on the performance of the entire system is studied.  相似文献

In this research, a technical, economic and environmental analysis has been proposed to a Hybrid Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) system-based hybrid system including biomass, gas turbine, and Proton Exchange Membrane Electrolyzer. A multi-objective optimization technique has been utilized to improve the overall product cost and the exergy effectiveness based on a developed version of Aquila Optimizer (DAO). The main idea of using the developed version is to improve the accuracy and the precision of the original Aquila optimizer. The system is then authenticated in terms of energy/exergy effectiveness, and energy-economic efficiency. The achievements indicate that employing the optimization algorithm for different configurations provided satisfying results for the system.  相似文献

A new integrated power generation system driven by the solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is proposed to improve the conversion efficiency of conventional energy by using a Kalina cycle to recover the waste heat of exhaust from the SOFC-GT. The system using methane as main fuel consists an internal reforming SOFC, an after-burner, a gas turbine, preheaters, compressors and a Kalina cycle. The proposed system is simulated based on the developed mathematical models, and the overall system performance has been evaluated by the first and second law of thermodynamics. Exergy analysis is conducted to indicate the thermodynamic losses in each components. A parametric analysis is also carried out to examine the effects of some key thermodynamic parameters on the system performance. Results indicate that as compressor pressure ratio increases, SOFC electrical efficiency increases and there is an optimal compressor pressure ratio to reach the maximum overall electrical efficiency and exergy efficiency. It is also found that SOFC electrical efficiency, overall electrical efficiency and exergy efficiency can be improved by increasing air flow rate. Also, the largest exergy destruction occurs in the SOFC followed by the after-burner, the waste heat boiler, the gas turbine. The compressor pressure ratio and air flow rate have significant effects on the exergy destruction in some main components of system.  相似文献

In a global energetic context characterized by the increasing demand of oil and gas, the depletion of fossil resources and the global warming, more efficient energy systems and, consequently, innovative energy conversion processes are urgently required. A possible solution can be found in the fuel cells technology coupled with classical thermodynamic cycle technologies in order to make hybrid systems able to achieve high energy/power efficiency with low environmental impact. Moreover, due to the synergistic effect of using a high temperature fuel cell such as solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and a recuperative gas turbine (GT), the integrated system efficiency can be significantly improved. In this paper a steady zero dimensional model of a SOFC/GT hybrid system is presented. The core of the work consists of a performance analysis focused on the influence of the GT part load functioning on the overall system efficiency maintaining the SOFC power set to the nominal one. Also the proper design and management of the heat recovery section is object of the present study, with target a global electric efficiency almost constant in part load functioning respect to nominal operation. The results of this study have been used as basis to the development of a dynamic model, presented in the following part of the study focused on the plant dynamic analysis.  相似文献

Due to the environmental concerns caused by fossil fuels, renewable energy systems came into consideration. In this study, a renewable hybrid system based on ocean thermal, solar and wind energy sources were designed for power generation and hydrogen production. To analyze the system, a techno-economic model was exerted in order to calculate the exergy efficiency as well as the cost rate and the hydrogen production. The main parameters that affect the system performance were identified, and the impact of each parameter on the main outputs of the system was analyzed as well. The thermo-economic analysis showed that the most effective parameters on the exergy efficiency and total cost rate are the wind speed and solar collector area, respectively. To reach the optimum performance of the system, multi-objective optimization, by using genetic algorithm, was applied. The optimization was divided into two separate case studies; in case A, the cost rate and the exergy efficiency were considered as two objective functions; and in case B, the cost rate and the hydrogen production were assigned as two other objective functions. The optimization results of the case A showed that for the total cost rate of 30.5 $/h, the exergy efficiency could achieve 35.57%. While, the optimization of the case B showed that for the total cost rate of 28.06 $/h, the hydrogen production rate could reach 5.104 kg/h. Furthermore, after optimizing, an improvement in exergy efficiency was obtained, approximately 19%.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel poly-generation system for olefin and power production from natural gas is proposed, which integrates hydrocarbon production and the combined cycle power generation. Economic and technological evaluation based on the internal rate of return (IRR) and exergy efficiency is performed. The energy integration results in the proposed poly-generation system for simultaneous production of chemical products (ethylene and propylene) and electricity being more thermodynamically efficient and economically viable than single purpose power generation and chemical products production plants. IRR and exergy efficiency of the proposed poly-generation system are higher than that of natural gas methanol to olefin (NGMTO) system, 18.9% and 49.9%, respectively. The biggest exergy destruction segments, their causes, and possible measures for improvement are investigated simulation and thermodynamic analysis. To analyze the effect of unreacted syngas recycle on the exergy efficiency and economic gains from the proposed poly-generation system, its thermoeconomic optimization model is built by combining economic with thermodynamic analysis. Optimization analysis shows that when 78% of the unreacted syngas is recycled back to the reactor in the methanol synthesization process, the thermoeconomic performance of the poly-generation system is at its optimum.  相似文献

In this paper, the energy, exergy, economic, environmental, steady-state, and process performance modeling/analysis of hybrid renewable energy (RE) based multigeneration system is presented. Beyond the design/performance analysis of an innovative hybrid RE system, this study is novel as it proposes a new methodology for determining the overall process energy and exergy efficiency of multigeneration systems. This novel method integrates EnergPLAN simulation program with EES and Matlab. It considers both the steady-state and the process performance of the modeled system on hourly timesteps in order to determine the overall efficiencies. Based on the proposed new method, it is observed that the overall process thermodynamic efficiencies of a hybrid renewable energy-based multigeneration system are different from its steady-state efficiencies. The overall energy and exergy efficiencies reduce from 81.01% and 52.52% (in steady-state condition) to 58.6% and 39.33% (when considering a one-year process performance). The integration of the hot water production with the multigeneration system enhanced the overall thermodynamic efficiencies in steady-state conditions. The Kalina system produces a total work output of 1171 kW with a thermal and exergy efficiency of 12.23% and 52% respectively while the wind turbine system produces 1297 kW of electricity in steady-state condition and it has the same thermal/exergy efficiency (72%). The economic analysis showed that the Levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) of the geothermal energy-based Kalina system is 0.0103 $/kWh. The greenhouse gas emission reduction analysis showed that the proposed system will save between 1,411,480 kg/yr and 3,518,760 kg/yr of greenhouse gases from being emitted into the atmosphere yearly. The multigeneration system designed in this study will produce electricity, hydrogen, hot water, cooling effect, and freshwater. Also, battery electric vehicle charging is integrated with process performance analysis of the multigeneration system.  相似文献

The simulation and exergy analysis of a hybrid Solid Oxide Fuel Cell–Gas Turbine (SOFC–GT) power system are discussed in this paper. In the SOFC reactor model, it is assumed that only hydrogen participates in the electrochemical reaction and that the high temperature of the stack pushes the internal steam reforming reaction to completion; the unreacted gases are assumed to be fully oxidized in the combustor downstream of the SOFC stack. Compressors and GTs are modeled on the basis of their isentropic efficiency. As regards the heat exchangers and the heat recovery steam generator, all characterized by a tube-in-tube counterflow arrangement, the simulation is carried out using the thermal efficiency-NTU approach. Energy and exergy balances are performed not only for the whole plant but also for each component in order to evaluate the distribution of irreversibility and thermodynamic inefficiencies. Simulations are performed for different values of operating pressure, fuel utilization factor, fuel-to-air and steam-to-fuel ratios and current density. Results showed that, for a 1.5 MW system, an electrical efficiency close to 60% can be achieved using appropriate values of the most important design variables; in particular, the operating pressure and cell current density. When heat loss recovery is also taken into account, a global efficiency of about 70% is achieved.  相似文献
