The Phase relations of the system Gd2O3-Ta2O5 in the composition range 50 to100 mol% Gd2O3 was studied by solidstate reactions at 1350°, 1500°, or 1700°C and by thermal analyses up to the melting temperatures. Weberite-type orthorhombic phase (W2 phase, space group C2221) with the composition of Gd3 TaO7 seems to melt incongruently; at about 2040°C, although this Gd3TaO7 Phase was previously reported to melt congruently. A new fluorite-type cubic phase (F phase, space group Fm3m ) was found for the first time above 1500°C in the system. It melts congruently with the composition of about 80mol% Gd2O3at 2318° 3°C. A phase diagram was proposed for the system Gd2O3–Ta2O5 in the Gd2O3–rich portion  相似文献

The subsolidus phase relations in the entire system ZrO2-Y2O3 were established using DTA, expansion measurements, and room- and high-temperature X-ray diffraction. Three eutectoid reactions were found in the system: ( a ) tetragonal zirconia solid solution→monoclinic zirconia solid solution+cubic zirconia solid solution at 4.5 mol% Y2O3 and ∼490°C, ( b ) cubic zirconia solid solutiow→δ-phase Y4Zr3O12+hexagonalphase Y6ZrO11 at 45 mol% Y2O3 and ∼1325°±25°C, and ( c ) yttria C -type solid solution→wcubic zirconia solid solution+ hexagonal phase Y6ZrO11 at ∼72 mol% Y2O3 and 1650°±50°C. Two ordered phases were also found in the system, one at 40 mol% Y2O3 with ideal formula Y4Zr3O12, and another, a new hexagonal phase, at 75 mol% Y2O3 with formula Y6ZrO11. They decompose at 1375° and >1750°C into cubic zirconia solid solution and yttria C -type solid solution, respectively. The extent of the cubic zirconia and yttria C -type solid solution fields was also redetermined. By incorporating the known tetragonal-cubic zirconia transition temperature and the liquidus temperatures in the system, a new tentative phase diagram is given for the system ZrO2-Y2O3.  相似文献

The phase equilibria in the Y2O3-Nb2O5 system have been studied at temperatures of 1500° and 1700°C in the compositional region of 0-50 mol% Nb2O5. The solubility limits of the C-type Y2O3 cubic phase and the YNbO4 monoclinic phase are 2.5 (±1.0) mol% Nb2O5 and 0.2 (±0.4) mol% Y2O3, respectively, at 1700°C. The fluorite (F) single phase exists in the region of 20.1-27.7 mol% Nb2O5 at 1700°C, and in the region of 21.1-27.0 mol% Nb2O5 at 1500°C, respectively. Conductivity of the Y2O3- x mol% Nb2O5 system increases as the value of x increases, to a maximum at x = 20 in the compositional region of 0 ≤ x ≤ 20, as a result of the increase in the fraction of F phase. In the F single-phase region, the conductivity decreases in the region of 20-25 mol% Nb2O5, because of the decrease in the content of oxygen vacancies, whereas the conductivity at x = 27 is larger than that at x = 25. The conductivity decreases as the value of x increases in the region of 27.5 ≤ x ≤ 50, because of the decrease in the fraction of F. The 20 mol% Nb2O5 sample exhibits the highest conductivity and a very wide range of ionic domain, at least up to log p O2=−20 (where p O2 is given in units of atm), which indicates practical usefulness as an ionic conductor.  相似文献

The phase diagram for the system ZrO2-Y2O3 was redetermined. The extent of the fluorite-type ZrO2-YzO3 solid solution field was determined with a high-temperature X-ray furnace, precise lattice parameter measurements, and a hydrothermal technique. Long range ordering occurred at 40 mol% Y2O3 and the corresponding ordered phase was Zr3Y4OL12. The compound has rhombohedra1 symmetry (space group R 3), is isostructural with UY6Ol2 and decomposes above 1250±50°C. The results indicate that the eutectoid may occur at a temperature <400°C at a composition between 20 and 30 mol% Y2O3 Determination of the liquidus line indicated a eutectic at 83± 1 mol% Y2O3 and a peritectic at 76 ± 1 mol% Y2O3.  相似文献

The phase relations for the Sc2O3-Ta2O5 system in the composition range of 50-100 mol% Sc2O3 have been studied by using solid-state reactions at 1350°, 1500°, or 1700°C and by using thermal analyses up to the melting temperatures. The Sc5.5Ta1.5O12 phase, defect-fluorite-type cubic phase (F-phase, space group Fm 3 m ), ScTaO4, and Sc2O3 were found in the system. The Sc5.5Ta1.5O12 phase formed in 78 mol% Sc2O3 at <1700°C and seemed to melt incongruently. The F-phase formed in ∼75 mol% Sc2O3 and decomposed to Sc5.5Ta1.5O12 and ScTaO4 at <1700°C. The F-phase melted congruently at 2344°± 2°C in 80 mol% Sc2O3. The eutectic point seemed to exist at ∼2300°C in 90 mol% Sc2O3. A phase diagram that includes the four above-described phases has been proposed, instead of the previous diagram in which those phases were not identified.  相似文献

The phase equilibria in the zirconia-rich part of the system ZrO2−Yb2O3−Y2O3 were determined at 1200°, 1400°, and 1650°C. The stabilizing effects of Yb2O3 and Y2O3 were found to be quite similar with <10 mol% of either being necessary to fully stabilize the cubic fluorite-structure phase at 1200°C. The two binary ordered phases, Zr3Yb4O12 and Zr3Y4O12, are completely miscible at 1200°C. These were the only binary or ternary phases detected. The ionic conductivities of ternary specimens in this system were measured using the complex impedance analysis technique. For a given level of total dopant, the substitution of Yb2O3 for Y2O3 gives only minor increases in specimen conductivity.  相似文献

A mathematical model of the liquidus surface based on a reduced polynomial method was proposed for the system HfO2-Y2O3-Er2O3. The results of calculations according to this model agree fairly well with the experimental data. Phase equilibria in the system HfO2-Y2O3-Er2O3 were studied on melted (as-cast) and annealed samples using X-ray diffraction (at room and high temperatures) and micro-structural and petrographic analyses. The crystallization paths in the system HfO2-Y2O3-Er2O3 were established. The system HfO2-Y2O3-Er2O3 is characterized by the formation of extended solid solutions based on the fluorite-type (F) form of HfO2 and cubic (C) and hexagonal (H) forms of Y2O3 and Er2O3. The boundary curves of these solid solutions have the minima at 2370°C (15. 5 mol% HfO2, 49. 5 mol% Y2O3) and 2360°C (10. 5 mol% HfO2, 45. 5 mol% Y2O3). No compounds were found to exist in the system investigated.  相似文献

The effect of Y2O3 content on the flexure strength of melt-grown Al2O3–ZrO2 eutectics was studied in a temperature range of 25°–1427°C. The processing conditions were carefully controlled to obtain a constant microstructure independent of Y2O3 content. The rod microstructure was made up of alternating bands of fine and coarse dispersions of irregular ZrO2 platelets oriented along the growth axis and embedded in the continuous Al2O3 matrix. The highest flexure strength at ambient temperature was found in the material with 3 mol% Y2O3 in relation to ZrO2(Y2O3). Higher Y2O3 content did not substantially modify the mechanical response; however, materials with 0.5 mol% presented a significant degradation in the flexure strength because of the presence of large defects. They were nucleated at the Al2O3–ZrO2 interface during the martensitic transformation of ZrO2 on cooling and propagated into the Al2O3 matrix driven by the tensile residual stresses generated by the transformation. The material with 3 mol% Y2O3 retained 80% of the flexure strength at 1427°C, whereas the mechanical properties of the eutectic with 0.5 mol% Y2O3 dropped rapidly with temperature as a result of extensive microcracking.  相似文献

Melts of x mol% Ta2O5–Y2O3 (x = 0–32.5) were rapidly quenched to investigate the formation of metastable fluorite solid solutions. C-type Y2O3, fluorite, and fergusonite phases existed in the compositional regions of 0 x 16, 8 x 32.5, and 27.5 x 32.5, respectively. Their lattice parameters were precisely measured through either Rietveld analysis or a least-squares fit of the individual X-ray diffraction peak positions. The lattice parameter of the fluorite phase decreased linearly with increasing Ta2O5 content, strongly suggesting the formation of compositionally homogeneous metastable solid solutions. Ta2O5 was almost insoluble into Y2O3 at 1700°C in the equilibrium state.  相似文献

The average grain size of ZrO2(+Y, o,) materials sintered at 1400°C was observed to depend significantly on the Y2O3 content. The average grain size decreased by a factor of 4 to 5 for Y2O3 contents between 0.8 and 1.4 mol% and increased at Y2O3 contents of 6.6 mol%. Grain growth control by a second phase is the concept used to interpret these data; compositions with a small grain size lie within the two-phase tetragonal + cubic phase field, and the size of the tetragonal grains is believed to be controlled by the cubic grains. This interpretation suggests that the Y2O3-rich boundary of the two-phase field lies between 0.8 and 1.4 mol% Y2O3. Transformation toughened materials fabricated in this binary system must have a composition that lies within the two-phase field to obtain the small grain size required, in part, to retain the tetragonal toughening agent.  相似文献

The phase relations in the Nd2O3–Y2O3 system were experimentally studied in the 1300°–1600°C range. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and electron probe microanalysis were applied to analyze the phase composition of annealed Nd2O3–Y2O3 mixtures with varying Y2O3 content. A thermodynamic assessment was conducted using the experimental data obtained. The excess Gibbs energies of the solution phases were described based on a simple substitutional solution model. A consistent set of optimized interaction parameters was derived for the Gibbs energy of the constituent phases, resulting in a good match between calculated and experimental data.  相似文献

A wet-chemical approach is applied to derive fine powders with compositions 11 mol% CeO2-ZrO2, 1 mol% YO1.5-10 mol% CeO2-ZrO2, 12 mol% CeO2-ZrO2, and 2 mol% YO1.5-10 mol% CeO2-ZrO2 by the coprecipitation method. The characteristics of the as-derived powders are evaluated through thermal analysis and electron microscopy. The sintering behavior of the calcined powders is carried out at 1400° and 1500°C for 1 to 10 h. Sintered density higher than 98% of theoretical is achieved for sintering at 1400°C for several hours. The as-sintered density dependence on the sintering condition is related to the extent of tetragonal-to-monoclinic phase transformation as well as the associated microcracks. Partial substitution by Y2O3 in CeO2-ZrO2 results in reduced grain size and tends to stabilize the tetragonal structure. Y2O3 is more effective than CeO2 with respect to the grain size refinement and tetragonal stability. In addition, Y2O3 substitution in CeO2-ZrO2 increases the hardness, while it decreases the fracture toughness.  相似文献

The pseudoternary system ZrO2-Y2O3-Cr2O3 was studied at 1600°C in air by the quenching method. Only one intermediate compound, YCrO3, was observed on the Y2O3−Cr2O3 join. ZrO2 and Y2O3 formed solid solutions with solubility limits of 47 and 38 mol%, respectively. The apex of the compatibility triangle for the cubic ZrO2, Cr2O3, and YCrO3 three-phase region was located at =17 mol% Y2O3 (83 mol% ZrO2). Below 17 mol% Y2O3, ZrO2 solid solution coexisted with Cr2O3. Cr2O3 appears to be slightly soluble in ZrO2(ss).  相似文献

The melting behaviors of selected compositions in the Si3N4-AlN-Y2O3 system were determined under 1 MPa of nitrogen. The phase diagrams of the ternary and their binary systems are presented. The lowest melting composition of the ternary system contains 15 mol % Si3N4, 25 mol % AIN, and 60 mol % Y2O3 and has a melting temperature of 1650°C. The binary eutectic compositions and temperatures are 15 mol % Si3N4 and 85 mol % Y2O3 at 1720°C, and 20 mol % AIN and 80 mol% Y2O3 at 1730°C.  相似文献

In the system Ta2O3-Al2O5 solid solutions of metastable δ-Ta2O5 (hexagonal) are formed up to 50 mol% Al2O3 from amorphous materials prepared by the simultaneous hydrolysis of tantalum and aluminum alkoxides. The values of the lattice parameters decrease linearly with increasing Al2O3, content. The to β-Ta2O5 (orthorhombic, low-temperature form) transformation occurs at ∼950°C. The solid solution containing 50 mol% Al2O3 transforms at 1040° to 1100°C to orthorhombic TaAlO4. Orthorhombic TaAlO4 contains octahedral TaO6 groups in the structure.  相似文献

Phase relations in the system Bi2O3-WO3 were studied from 500° to 1100°C. Four intermediate phases, 7Bi2O3· WO3, 7Bi2O3· 2WO3, Bi2O3· WO3, and Bi2O3· 2WO3, were found. The 7B2O · WO3 phase is tetragonal with a 0= 5.52 Å and c 0= 17.39 Å and transforms to the fcc structure at 784°C; 7Bi2O3· 2WO3 has the fcc structure and forms an extensive range of solid solutions in the system. Both Bi2O3· WO3 and Bi2O3· 2WO3 are orthorhombic with (in Å) a 0= 5.45, b 0=5.46, c 0= 16.42 and a 0= 5.42, b 0= 5.41, c 0= 23.7, respectively. Two eutectic points and one peritectic exist in the system at, respectively, 905°± 3°C and 64 mol% WO3, 907°± 3°C and 70 mol% WO3, and 965°± 5°C and 10 mol% WO3.  相似文献

Subsolidus phase relationships in the Ga2O3–In2O3 system were studied by X-ray diffraction and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) for the temperature range of 800°–1400°C. The solubility limit of In2O3 in the β-gallia structure decreases with increasing temperature from 44.1 ± 0.5 mol% at 1000°C to 41.4 ± 0.5 mol% at 1400°C. The solubility limit of Ga2O3 in cubic In2O3 increases with temperature from 4.X ± 0.5 mol% at 1000°C to 10.0 ± 0.5 mol% at 1400°C. The previously reported transparent conducting oxide phase in the Ga-In-O system cannot be GaInO3, which is not stable, but is likely the In-doped β-Ga2O3 solid solution.  相似文献

This study examined pressure consolidation of amorphous Al2O3–15 mol% Y2O3 powders prepared by co-precipitation and spray pyrolysis. The two amorphous powders had similar true densities and crystallization sequences. Uniaxial hot pressing was carried out at 450°–600°C with a moderate pressure of 750 MPa. The co-precipitated powder could be hot pressed to a maximum relative density of 98% and remained amorphous. Pressure adversely affected the densification of the spray-pyrolyzed powder by favoring an early crystallization of γ-Al2O3 phase at 580°C. Plastic deformation of the amorphous phase is believed to be responsible for the large densification of the amorphous powders.  相似文献

Subsolidus phase relations in the low-Y2O3 portion of the system ZrO2-Y2O3 were studied using DTA with fired samples and X-ray phase identification and lattice parameter techniques with quenched samples. Approximately 1.5% Y2O3 is soluble in monoclinic ZrO2, a two-phase monoclinic solid solution plus cubic solid solution region exists to ∼7.5% Y2O3 below ∼500°C, and a two-phase tetragonal solid solution plus cubic solid solution exists from ∼1.5 to 7.5% Y2O3 from ∼500° to ∼1600°C. At higher Y2O3 compositions, cubic ZrO2 solid solution occurs.  相似文献

Measurements were made of temperature and ternary composition for coexisting liquid and crystalline phases on the air isobar in the system Fe2O3-Fe3O4-YFeO3 with particular regard to the stability range and compositional limits of yttrium iron garnet. Phase equilibrium relations were determined by conventional quenching techniques combined with measurements of loss in weight at the reaction temperature to locate true ternary compositions. The intersection of the air isobar with the ternary univariant boundary curve for coexisting magnetite, garnet, and liquid phases results in a eutectic-type situation at the composition Y0.27Fe1.73 O2.87 and 1469°± 2°C. A similar intersection of the isobar with the boundary curve for coexisting garnet, orthoferrite, and liquid phases gives rise to a peritectic-type reaction at 1555° 3°C. and Y0.44Fe1.56 O2.89 The yttrium iron garnet crystallizing from liquids within these temperature and composition limits contains up to 0.5 mole % iron oxide in excess of the stoichiometric formula in terms of the starting composition 37.5 mole % Y2O3, 62.5 mole % Fe2O3. At 1470° C. the garnet phase in equilibrium with oxide liquid contains 2 mole % FeO in solid solution. The small solubility of excess of iron oxide and partial reduction of the garnet phase in air are unavoidable during equilibrium growth from the melt.  相似文献
