We used a dielectric resonator technique for highly sensitive measurements of the temperature dependence of the microwave surface resistanceR s of 1×1 cm2 superconducting films at 18.7 GHz. It consists of a sapphire disc positioned on the film under investigation within a copper cavity which is acting as a radiation shield. In the TE01 oscillation mode the highly reproducible quality factor of about 105 results in a sensitivity of ±50 forR s measurements. The temperature dependence ofR s can be measured up to values as high as 1 . We have investigated several YBa2Cu3O7 thin films prepared by high oxygen pressure d.c. sputtering on LaAlO3 and NdGaO3. Our best films exhibit a pronounced nonlinear behavior of the d.c. resistivity(T) with(300K)/(100K) values of about 3.7. Those films show, besides the initial fall-off just belowT c , a further strong decrease ofR s at low temperatures. This was observed both at 18.7 GHz and 87 GHz, as measured by a conventional cavity end plate replacement technique. ForTTc/2 these films exhibit an exp (–T c/T) dependence ofR s with-values around 0.4. These observations may be explained by a superconducting energy gap with 2/kT c0.8 for charge carriers localized in the CuO chains for YBa2Cu3O7.  相似文献

We have performed millimeter-wave frequency (94 GHz) measurements on high-quality YBa2Cu3O7-δ superconducting films on yttrium-stabilized (100) ZrO2 and MgO substrates. The ~0.2μm thin films fabricated by magnetron sputteringin situ with the YBa2Cu3O7-δ powders as target exhibit superconducting transition temperatures up to 88 K. The critical current density of 6×105 A/cm2 at 77 K and the X-ray diffraction spectrum as well as scanning electron microscope photographs indicate these thin films are fullyc-axis oriented, extremely high in density, and universally homogeneous. Millimeter-wave surface resistances have been measured on a hemisphere open resonator in the temperature range of 20 K toT c and beyond. The surface resistance at 94 GHz and 77 K for these films is found to be about 30 mΩ, nearly 1/4 that for copper, and a drop of two orders in the surface resistance within 4 K is observed, which indicates that these films are good materials for applications in the millimeter-wave range, especially for fabricating microwave devices. We observed such low surface resistance in these thin films due to the near absence of grain and phase boundaries coupled with a high degree of crystalline orientation.  相似文献

Thin films of highT c superconductor YBa2Cu3O7−x were obtained by magnetron sputtering. MgO, YSZ, YSH and Al2O3 single crystals were used as substrates. Epitaxial films with tetragonal structure havingT c 55–60 K grow at substrate temperaturesT s between 930 K and 980 K. Orientation of the films in thisT s range was (100) and (001) for (100) MgO substrate, (111) and (001) for (1012) Al2O3 and (111) YSH and (113) or (103) on (110) YSZ and (111) YSH. Single crystalline films with orthorhombic structure and (001) orientation were grown on all the substrates whenT s exceeded 980 K. They haveT c>80 K.  相似文献

We review methods of measuring surface resistance (R s ) of thin films using stripline resonators, and present our measurements of theR s of YBa2Cu3O7?x films as a function of frequency, temperature, and r.f. magnetic field. The films were deposited on LaAlO3 substrates by two methods: (1) electron-beam coevaporation of Y, BaF, and Cu followed by annealing in O2, and (2) single-targetin situ sputtering. The measurements were obtained at frequencies from 0.4 to 10 GHz, temperatures from 4 to 90 K, and an r.f. magnetic field range from 0 to 30 Oe. At low temperature and low r.f. field at 0.4 GHz, theR s values obtained for the two deposition methods are approximately 7×10?6 and 4×10?6 Ω, respectively.  相似文献

Using a reflection magneto-optic technique we have investigated natural inhomogeneities and artificial structures in YBCO thin films exposed to an external magnetic field. The artificial structures were mechanically scratched by scanning a diamond tip with different loading over the film surface. Alternatively planar structures with reduced oxygen content could be patterned by heating the YBCO film with a focused laser beam in nitrogen atmosphere. Depending on the laser annealing parameters different screening properties concerning the applied magnetic field could be achieved. As a magneto-optically active layer we used EuS films evaporated on glass as well as bismuth- and gallium-doped lutetium-iron-garnet films grown onto (111) oriented gadolinium-gal lium-gar net substrates by liquid phase epitaxy. In contrast to measurements with EuS films that show only weak faraday rotation for temperatures higher than 20 K the magneto-optic studies have been expanded to about 60 K by using the garnet films.  相似文献

Thin-textured YBa2Cu3O y (Ag) films were prepared by a new CVD process consisting of aerosol deposition and low temperature annealing, both operations not exceeding 600°C. MgO and SrTiO3 single crystals were used as substrates. The stoichiometry of the prepared films was not ideal 1–2–3, having the atomic quotient of copper always lower than 3. For an unoptimized preparation process, the onset temperatures were around 80 K and the zero resistanceT c values around 70K. Properties of samples obtained by low-temperature annealing are compared with those obtained by high temperature annealing. “Cleaning” effect of vacuum-annealing upon removing the nitrate and hydroxide groups from the prepared films is supposed.  相似文献

Localization of microwave absorption in YBa2Cu3O x superconducting thin films in the presence of very low dc magnetic field was studied. The granular YBa2Cu3O x thin films of submicrometer thickness had random orientation of grains, were inserted into a microwave cavity for maximum rf magnetic field. The microwave absorption in low dc magnetic field at temperatures just below the critical temperature shows properties which may be ascribed to superconducting grains. At lower temperatures the hysteretic effects and flux-trapping occur in the intergrain regions of the film.  相似文献

We report on measurements of the in-plane resistivityρ and Hall coefficientR H (B∥c) of various oxygen-deficient epitaxial films of YBa2Cu3O7?x in the normal state. The superconducting transition temperaturesT c of the samples vary from 14 to 90 K. Both the resistivity and the Hall coefficient exhibit a strong dependence on the oxygen content and the temperature. Asx increases,T c decreases continuously, whileρ andR H gradually increase in magnitude. Furthermore, also the characteristic linear dependences ofραT andR Hα T ?1 of the highly doped compounds changes to a nonlinear behavior for the samples withT c lower than 60 K. The unusual doping and temperature dependence ofR H will be compared to the predictions of our calculations, based on a two-dimensional tight-binding model using the relaxation-time approximation. The model considers also the next-nearest-neighbor hopping, which strongly influences the predicted Hall coefficient. Additionally, the cotangent of the Hall angle cot(Θ H ) is discussed in the framework of the two-dimensional Luttinger liquid theory.  相似文献

The post-annealing method of producing thin films of YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) has taken on a new impetus due to the recent work showing that films of the highest quality can be made by using low partial pressures of oxygen during the annealing cycle. Here it is shown that for films produced by using BaF2 as a source material, the post-annealing procedure can be closely controlled by monitoring the F that evolves due to the water vapor reaction with BaF2. The use of an ion-sensitive electrode allowed small F evolution rates (about 1 ng s?1) to be detected above background, sufficient to measure the F evolution rate from even the smallest samples used. The time interval during which F evolves was found to increase with increasing YBCO film area being annealed.  相似文献

We explore the feasibility of preparing YBa2CU3O7-Au (YBCO-Au) nanocomposite thin films by chemical solution deposition (CSD). Two approaches were used: (i) A standard in-situ methodology where Au metallorganic salts are added into the precursor solution of YBCO trifluoroacetate (TFA) salts and (ii) a novel approach where stable colloidal solutions of preformed gold nanoparticles (5-15 nm) were homogeneously mixed with TFA-YBCO solutions. A detailed analysis of the microstructure of the films showed that in both cases, there is a strong tendency of gold nanoparticles to migrate to the film surface. However the kinetics of this migration evidences important differences and in the case of preformed nanoparticles their size remains unchanged (a few nanometers) whereas for the in-situ nanocomposites gold ripening leads to large particles (hundreds of nanometers). The grown YBCO-Au films showed good superconducting characteristics (J(c) 2 MA/cm2 at 77 K) but the absence of Au inclusions inside the YBCO matrix explains the fact that no enhancement of vortex pinning was observed.  相似文献

The resistance-current dependencies R(I, T) of ultrathin YBa2Cu3O7?x films were investigated in wide regions of resistance and temperatures in zero magnetic field. Ultrathin YBa2Cu3O7?x (near 30Å of the thickness) films were prepared in the form of epitaxial heterostructure YBa2Cu3O7?x /PrBa2Cu3O7?x. The R(I,T) curves show ohmic behavior at low currents and nonlinear one at higher current. At Tc (resistive transition temperature) shapes of R(I) curves undergo remarkable changes. Ohmic behavior vanishes down to Tc≈36K and the curvature of logR(logI) plots changes sign from convex downward to upward showing “real” high critical current Ic,T?4.2K≥3·106 A/cm2.  相似文献

Post-annealing of YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) thin films is usually performed at 850–900°C in atmospheric-pressure oxygen. In this study, coevaporated YBCO films on LaAlO3 were post-annealed in an oxygen partial pressure of 29 Pa at temperatures in the range 700–825°C. Zero resistance transition temperatures were 89–90 K. Both d.c. (room-temperature resistance and critical-current density) and a.c. parameters (extracted from eddy-current response measurements at 25 MHz) were monitored. The optimum temperature is close to 750°C, which is on the YBCO thermodynamic stability line at this low oxygen partial pressure.  相似文献

Epitaxial YBa2Cu3O7?δ thin films (YBCO) and YBa2Cu3O7?δ /PrBa2Cu3O7?δ multilayers (Y/Pr) were irradiated with high-energy heavy ions (770 Mev208Pb) under various directionsφ relative to thec-axis. The irradiation resulted in columnar defects tilted byφ from thec-axis. The angular dependence of their pinning activity was studied by measuring the anisotropy of the critical current density. TheJ c (B, T,?) behavior of the irradiated YBCO thin films showed an additional peak, which exceeds the intrinsic pinning peak, exactly at the irradiation direction. The Y/Pr multilayers, however, showed an isotropicT c -enhancement by a factor of 5, without any additional structure in theJ c(B, T,?) curve.  相似文献

The low temperature behavior of the microwave surface resistanceR s and the penetration provides information on the pairing state. Fully oxygenated films with low de-resistivity in the normal state exhibit an exponential temperature dependence corresponding to values of the energy gap up to 10 meV. For oxygen deficient films a linearR s(T) was observed, similar to single crystals. This can be explained qualitatively by induced superconductivity in the copper-oxygen chains.  相似文献

Post-annealing of thin films of YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO) has been performed at 29 Pa and 750°C. For films 0.6 μm thick, a critical current density >1 MA cm?2 is obtained at 77 K, with a sharp eddy current response at 25 MHz. Microstructural investigation of these films by crosssectional and planar transmission electron microscopy reveals that the YBCO film has thec-axis normal to the plane of the substrate in a continuous sheet of varying thickness, frequently covering the entire thickness of the film. Mutually perpendicular rods with thec-axis in the plane of the LaAlO3 substrate are also seen. The microstructure and critical current density of these films are compared with those of previously reported films post-annealed in atmosphericpressure oxygen.  相似文献
