Four lepidoptera were lured to field traps containing various combinations of 9,11-dodecadienes with alcohol, acetate, or aldehyde functional groups. All species required two chemical components for best attraction.Cosmopterix gemmiferella was most responsive to a combination of (9Z)-9,11-dodecadienyl acetate and (9E)-9,11-dodecadienyl acetate in 21 ratio;Dichrorampha simulana to (9E)-9,11-dodecadienyl acetate and (9E)-9,11-dodecadien-1-ol in 101 ratio;Tortricidia testacea to (9Z)-9,11-dodecadienal and (9E)-9,11-dodecadienal in 101 ratio; andAncylis sp. to (9Z)-9,11-dodecadienyl acetate and (9Z)-9,11-dodecadien-1-ol in 101 ratio.  相似文献

(E)-9,11-Dodecadienyl acetate and (Z)-9,11-dodecadienyl acetate in conjunction with (E)-11-tetradecenyl acetate and (Z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate were found to comprise the sex pheromone ofSparganothis directana, based on chemical analysis, electroantennogram tests, and field trapping. (E)-9-Dodecenyl acetate and (Z)-9-dodecenyl acetate were also found in gland extracts but did not influence trap catches. The relative amounts of these compounds in the gland were 3521928 106, in the order named. Only (E)-9,1 1-dodecadienyl acetate, (E)-11-tetradecenyl acetate, and (Z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate were required for attraction of males to traps, dispensed in the relative amounts 501238, respectively.Lepidoptera: Tortricidae.Supported by National Science Foundation grant PCM 78-13241.  相似文献

The lacewing Chrysopa cognata, one of the principal predators of aphids in Korea, was tested for responses to the aphid sex pheromone components (4aS,7S,7aR)-nepetalactone and (1R,4aS,7S,7aR)-nepetalactol and the aphid alarm pheromone (E)--farnesene. Electroantennogram responses were obtained to the sex pheromone components but not to (E)--farnesene. The sex pheromone components were attractive in a Y-tube olfactometer assay and in field trials with water traps, but no attraction was observed to (E)--farnesene.  相似文献

Geographic variation in the sex pheromone of the Asian corn borer, Ostrinia furnacalis (Guenée), was surveyed in populations sampled at four locations ranging from 39.7°N to 32.9°N in Japan. The sex pheromone of the three northern populations was composed of (E)- and (Z)-12-tetradecenyl acetates with a mean E proportion of 36–39%. The southernmost population (Nishigoshi) had the same components but with a significantly higher E composition of 44%. The frequency distribution of the E ratio in the Nishigoshi population exhibited a small peak near 38% and a major peak near 46%. A family-wise analysis of the sex pheromone of this population confirmed that there were two distinct phenotypes regarding the E ratio. An 46% E strain inhabits southern parts of Japan, in addition to an 38% E strain, which seems to be predominant in other regions of Japan.  相似文献

We collected and quantified both synthetic and natural Oriental fruit moth [Grapholitha molesta (Busck)] sex pheromone components in 250-ml round-bottom flasks by hexane rinsing of compounds adsorbed on the glass walls. This simple procedure collected 100% of the pheromone evaporated inside the flask and was useful for quantifying both nanogram and microgram amounts of emitted pheromone. Emission rates of (Z)-8-dodecenyl acetate from 1000, 100, and 10 g-loaded rubber septa were 219, 12, and 1.2 ng/hr, respectively.G. molesta females emitted this component at 3.2 ng/hr, close to the emission rate from a 10 g-loaded septum, which evokes long-range and close-range behaviors in the male. The corresponding alcohol, (Z)-8-dodecenyl alcohol, was emitted from rubber septa ca. 3 times faster than the acetate.Lepidoptera: Tortricidae.Paper of the Michigan State Agricultural Experiment Station.  相似文献

The sex pheromone of aPlanotortrix excessana sibling species was investigated. Females were found to produce eight potential pheromone components: dodecyl acetate, tetradecyl acetate (14OAc). (Z)-5-tetradecenyl acetate (Z5-14OAc), (Z)-7-tetradecenyl acetate (Z7-14OAc), (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate, hexadecyl acetate, (Z)-7-hexadecenyl acetate, and (Z)-9-hexadecenyl acetate. When these compounds were bioassayed using field-trapping and wind-tunnel techniques, only 14OAc,Z5-14OAc, andZ7-14OAc were found to be behaviorally active. The sex pheromone glands of females of other species including,Planotortrix MBS,Planotortrix M,P. notophaea, Ctenopseustis servana, and aC. obliquana sibling species, were also found to containZ5-14OAc orZ7-14OAc, singly or in combination. In the case ofPlanotortrix M, the addition ofZ7-14OAc to the previously identified sex pheromone blend ofZ5-14OAc and 14OAc was found to increase trap captures of male moths of this species. Thus in these New Zealand species (and in some Australian species),Z5-14OAc andZ7-14OAc appear to be utilized in combination in pheromonal communication just as (Z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate and (E)-11-tetradecenyl acetate are used by many species of Holarctic Tortricidae in the tribe Archipini.Lepidoptera: Tortricidae: Tortricinae.  相似文献

Sex pheromone components collected from femaleChristoneura retiniana included 11-tetradecenyl acetates and alcohols. The major component wasE-11-tetradecenyl acetate (E11–14Ac) with a lesser amount ofZ isomer necessary to induce male response. A 928 ratio ofE,Z11–14 Ac appeared optimal. The alcohol component was present at about 10% of the total pheromone mixture, and traps baited with acetates plus alcohol surpassed unmated females in their degree of attractiveness. Chemical analysis indicated a 9:1 ratio of theE — Z isomers of 11-tetradecenyl alcohol (11–14ol) pheromone components, although bait formulations containing a predominance of either theE orZ isomers were equally successful in field bioassays. Based on male response to traps,E- andZ11–14Ac (928E — Z) are essential pheromone components for long-range sex attraction. The 11–14 ol enhanced attraction when added at 10% of the total pheromone blend. This paper reports the results of research only. Two compounds identified as components of the sex pheromone system ofRhyacionia frustrana are (E)-9-dodecen-1-yl acetate (I) and (E)-9,11-dodecadien-1-yl acetate (II), which were found in female gland extracts in the ratio of 964, respectively. The identifications were based on chemical and instrumental analyses, electroantennogram studies, and field trapping tests. The optimum ratio for trapping maleR. frustrana is the range of 955 to 97.52.5 (III), when dispensed from rubber septa at a loading of ca. 1000/g/lure. In addition to these two compounds, evidence was obtained for the presence of dodecan-1-ol and (E)-9-dodecen-1-ol in female tip extracts and in female effluvium, and for dodecan-1-yl acetate in female tip extracts.Lepidoptera: Tortricidae: Olethreutinae.Supported in part by the Rockefeller Foundation and by National Science Foundation grants GB-38020 and PCM 78-13241.  相似文献

On the basis of the antennal receptor potentials and the extent of attraction and copulation induced in unmated male khapra beetles, (Z)- and (E)-14-methyl-8-hexadecenal were recognized as the most important components of the pheromone system of femaleTrogoderma granarium (Everts), and were named (Z)- and (E)-trogodermal. Air blown over 10–5 to 10–4 g of (Z)-trogodermal produced receptor potentials equivalent to that elicited by one virgin femaleT.granarium, while 10–2 g of (Z)-trogodermal was required to cause complete attraction and copulation of unmated males. (Z)-Trogodermal was about 10 times more active than (E)-trogodermal. (Z)-8-Hexadecenal was 10–2 times less effective than (Z)-trogodermal in causing attraction and 104 time less active in stimulating copulation. (Z)- and (E)-14-methyl-8-hexadecen-1-ol and methyl (Z)- and (E)-14-methyl-8-hexadecenoate displayed a relatively low activity for unmated male khapra beetles. Methyl and ethyl oleate, ethyl linoleate, ethyl palmitate, and ethyl stearate were less effective than (Z)-trogodermal by 6–8 orders of magnitude and are nonspecific attractants. The intensity of response to a particular compound was consistent when assessed by the essential components of mating behavior: receptor potentials, attraction, and copulation.  相似文献

The GC-MS and GC-EAD analyses of sex-gland components and sex-gland-released volatiles have identified (E)- and (Z)-11-tetradecenal (9010) and (E)- and (Z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate (8515) as components of the sex pheromone chemical communication system ofCroesia curvalana (Kearfott). The aldehyde-to-acetate ratio of 91 was found in the gland-released components. This blend at a 0.1–1 g/day release rate from PVC lures was shown to be as effective as virgin females in the trapping of maleC. curvalana.  相似文献

The analyses of virgin female sex pheromone gland extracts and gland volatiles by GC, GC-EAD and GC-MS, followed by field trapping experiments, have identified (E)-9-dodecenyl acetate (E9–12Ac) as the primary sex pheromone component of the purplestriped shootworm,Zeiraphera unfortunana. Dosages of 1.0–10.0 g ofE9–12Ac impregnated in rubber septa provide an effective trap bait and can be used for monitoring purposes.Lepidoptera: Tortricidae.  相似文献

(E4,E10)-dodecadienyl acetate (E4,E10-12OAc) is a newly discovered sex pheromone component of the tentiform leafminer,Phyllonorycter mespilella (Hübner). In apple orchards, traps baited with 1g ofE4,E1012OAc attractedP. mespilella in British Columbia andP. blancardella (F.) in Massachusetts and Nova Scotia. The compound was identified inP. mespilella by gas chromatographic-electroantennographic analysis (GC-EAD) of pheromone gland extracts, retention index calculations, EAD profiles toE3 toE10 dodecenyl acetates, and synthesis of candidate pheromone components. Even thoughE4,E10-12OAc was not detected in gland extracts by GC-mass spectroscopy, several factors indicate that it is female-produced. Antennal responses to gland extracts coincided with authenticE4,E10-12OAc on four GC columns with different retention characteristics.E4,E10-12OAc andE10-12OAc, a known female-produced pheromone component, elicited equally strong EAD responses. In field tests,E4,E10-12OAc was two to four times more attractive thanE10-12OAc. There was no additive or synergistic effect between the two components.  相似文献

Four acetates,Z-5-decenyl acetate,Z-5-,Z-7-, andZ-9-dodecenyl acetates, in microgram ratios of 120021 or 120062 were excellent, specific sex pheromone blends for capturing male redbacked cutworm moths in cone traps. Blends in ratios of 120021 and 220021 at 1000 g/ rubber septum dispenser remained highly effective for 6 weeks under field conditions. The essential minor components,Z-5-decenyl,Z-7-, andZ-9-dodecenyl acetates, became inhibitory at concentrations of about 10% in the blends, and this may be an important general phenomenon in lepidopteran pheromones. Blends involving a parapheromone,Z-5-undecenyl acetate, withZ-5-,Z-7-, andZ-9-dodecenyl acetate, in microgram ratios of 820021 or 2020062 were also excellent specific attractants for this species. TheZ-8-dodecenyl acetate had no obvious effect on the attraction of the redbacked cutworm males.  相似文献

The female-emitted pheromone ofGrapholitha molesta (Busck), the Oriental fruit moth, was collected by holding females in glass flasks during calling. Flask washes were found to contain four pheromone components: (Z)-8-dodecenyl acetate and (E)-8-dodecenyl acetate in a 1007 ratio, and (Z)-8-dodecen-1-ol and dodecanol in a 10020 ratio. The ratio of (Z)-8-acetate to (Z)-8-dodecen-1-ol was approx. 10030. Approximately 0.1–0.2 ng of pheromone was recovered per female per hour of calling.Published as Journal Article No. 8598 of the Michigan State University Agricultural Experiment Station.  相似文献

Competitive field tests with -fluorinated analogs of compounds III and IV (III--F and IV--F, respectively) of the boll weevil,Anthonomus grandis Boh., aggregation pheromone showed these compounds, when combined with the other pheromone components [(±)-I and II], to be as attractive as grandlure [(+)-I, II, and III+IV]. Dose-response curves constructed from electroantennograms of male boll weevils to serial stimulus loads of III, IV, III--F, IV--F, and the corresponding acyl fluorinated analogs (III-acyl-F and IV-acyl-F) showed the -fiuorinated analogs to be as active as the pheromone components (threshold=0.1 g), while the acyl fluorinated analogs had a 10-100 x higher threshold (=1-10 g). Single-neuron recordings showed that IV neurons and II neurons (Dickens, 1990) responded to IV--F and III--F, respectively, while IV-acyl-F and III-acyl-F were inactive. Since a previous study showed compounds I, II, and IV to be essential for behavioral responses in the field, it seems likely that the activity of the -fluorinated analogs observed here is due to the stimulation of IV neurons by IV--F as indicated in single neuron recordings.  相似文献

The intertidal pulmonate limpetTrimusculus reticulatus, which is found in caves or crevices along the California coast, was previously reported to contain two novel diterpenoids, 6-isovaleroxylabda-8,13-dien-7,15-diol (1) and 2,7-diacetoxy-6-isovaleroxylabda-8,13-dien-15-ol (2). Dissection of the animals prior to extraction revealed that the diterpenoids were concentrated in the mantle, foot, and mucus, but not in the viscera. The presence ofT. reticulatus or its mucus was toxic to veliger larvae of the sabellariid reef-building tube wormPhragmatopoma californica. The major diterpenoid1 was responsible for the observed larvicidal activity. Protection against overgrowth by settling invertebrate larvae is important for the survival of this sessile filter-feeding pulmonate. A related pulmonate,T. conica, which was found in similar intertidal habitats in New Zealand, contained 6-acetoxy-7-isovaleroxylabda-8,13-dien-15-oic acid (3) and 1,7,12,18-tetraacetoxy-cholest-5-en-3-ol (4). The diterpene3 was also localized in the foot, mantle, and mucus ofT. conica but was not larvicidal toP. californica.  相似文献

Two polyoxygenated fatty acids with antifungal activity have been isolated from aerial parts ofAeollanthus parvifolius (Labiatae) using bioassay-guided isolation procedures. Spectroscopic analysis was used to identify the compounds as (Z)-4,9-diacetoxy-6,7-epoxy-5-hydroxy-8-oxododeca-2-enoic acid and (Z)-4,6,7,9-tetraacetoxy-5-hydroxy-8-oxododeca-2-enoic acid. Both of these compounds inhibited spore germination ofCladosporium cucumerinum. Minimum inhibitory doses were 1 µg and 5 µg, respectively, but only the former inhibited germination ofAspergillus niger at a dose of 5 µg. Neither compound exhibited antibacterial activity. (Z)-4,9-Diacetoxy-6,7-epoxy-5-hydroxy-8-oxododeca-2-enoic acid reduced the hyphal growth ofPythium ultimum. The mode of action was not resolved but did not involve either the disruption of the cell wall membrane or the inhibition of extracellular enzymes. Application of (Z)-4,6,7,9-tetraacetoxy-5-hydroxy-8-oxododeca-2-enoic acid to seedling plants did not give any protection against fungal attack, and indeed the compound appeared to be phytotoxic.  相似文献

Electrophysiological responses of adult seven-spot ladybirds, Coccinella septempunctata, to (E)--farnesene, an aphid alarm pheromone, and (–)--caryophyllene, a plant-derived alarm pheromone inhibitor, were investigated by recording from single olfactory cells (neurons) on the antenna. Cells having high specificity for each of the two compounds were identified. Furthermore, these two cell types were frequently found in close proximity, with a larger amplitude consistently recorded for the cell responding specifically to (E)--farnesene. Preliminary behavioral studies in a two-way olfactometer showed that walking adults were significantly attracted to (E)--farnesene; this activity was inhibited with increasing proportions of (–)--caryophyllene. The possible ecological significance of colocation or pairing of olfactory cells for semiochemicals with different behavioral roles is discussed.  相似文献

Aldehyde components of lepidopterous pheromones are converted to carboxylic acids by aldehyde oxidizing enzymes (AOEs) that are present at high levels in antennal tissues of adult moths. The AOEs may include O2-requiring aldehyde oxidases as well as nucleotide-cofactor-requiring aldehyde dehydrogenases. Three classes of inhibitors were synthesized and examined in vitro for AOE inhibition usingHeliothis virescens antennae: (1) cyclopropanols, (2) -fluorinated aldehydes, and (3) ,-unsaturated carbonyls. First, cyclopropanated analogs of (Z)-11-hexadecenal (Z11–16A1), a common unsaturated aldehyde component of many species' pheromone blends, were synthesized as isosteric pheromone analogs and as potential inhibitors of the moth AOEs. NMR assignments are reported for thecis- andtrans-cyclopropanols. Cyclopropanols appear to act as oxidase-activated AOE inhibitors, perhaps via the unstable cyclopropanones. Second, -fluoro and ,-difluoro substituted analogs ofZ9–14A1 were synthesized and shown to be modest inhibitors of both the alcohol oxidase and AOE activities. Finally, the most potent inhibitors were ,-unsaturated carbonyl mimics of theZ11–16A1. The -methylene aldehyde was 1000-fold less effective than the vinyl ketoneZ1,11–163-oxo. This inhibition appears irreversible and is postulated to involve electrophilic modification of an active site sulfur nucleophile.Presented at a symposium in honor of Dr. James H. Tumlinson, recipient of the 1987 Burdick and Jackson Award.  相似文献

The previously identified, male-specific compound of the cereal leaf beetle (CLB, Chrysomelidae; Oulema melanopus), (E)-8-hydroxy-6-methyl-6-octen-3-one, was studied further with respect to field activity and emission rate from male beetles. In a 5-week field experiment in Oregon, the compound was shown to function as an aggregation pheromone in attracting male and female CLBs migrating from overwintering sites in spring. Traps baited with the synthetic compound (500 g per rubber septum) caught 3.3 times more CLBs than control traps. Lower doses of the pheromone (50 and 150 g) were less attractive than the 500 g dose. One relatively abundant, volatile compound from the host plant (oats), (Z)-3-hexenyl acetate, that elicited responses from beetle antennae was not attractive, either by itself or as a synergist of the pheromone. Both sexes were captured about equally for all treatments. We also measured daily pheromone emission by male beetles in the laboratory. Individual males feeding on oat seedlings under greenhouse conditions emitted as much as 6 g per day, which is about 500 times higher than had been previously observed under incubator conditions. The pheromone emission rate was at least five times higher during the day than at night, and in one male, emission spanned a period of 28 d. The release rate of synthetic pheromone from the 500 g septa was very similar to the maximum from single males; thus, future experiments should evaluate even higher doses. The field results indicate that the pheromone has potential as a monitoring tool for early detection of CLBs as they move from their overwintering sites into newly planted cereal crops in spring.  相似文献
