Conclusions The laboratory and industrial investigations of fireclays in the Kimovsk coalfields corroborate their suitability for the production of grade B chamotte and ceramic ware.The deposits of fireclay in the Kimovsk coalfields may serve as an additional source of raw material for the refractory plants of the Central region.The quality of the fireclays may be substantially improved by a thorough removal of gangue and coal from the top layer and selective miningby medium power rotary excavators.The complex exploitation of the deposit is economically justified insofar as fireclay mining is a secondary process with the per ton cost not exceeding 90 kopeks.  相似文献

In primary liquid metal production, the temperature of processing and the composition of the slag phase largely determine the selection of the refractories used to line the furnace. The objective of this work was to study the effect of temperature and FeO content on the dissolution rate of a clay refractory.50-g samples of synthetic, prefused iron oxide and silica were poured into slip cast crucibles of a high-duty fireclay. These were then placed in a preheated silicon carbide-element furnace and held at the required temperatures for known times. The cooled crucibles and their contents were broken and the amount of crucible wall thinning which had taken place at the slag-refractory interface was measured using a low-power microscope and a calibrated graticule.The study of the effect of process temperature was carried out over the temperature range 1100°–1400°C at 50°C intervals. Only two compositions, 65 and 75 wt.% FeO, were chosen for this part of the work.The effect of slag composition was next studied at 1300°C, the range of slag compositions being 60–80 wt.% iron oxide at 5% intervals in the iron oxide-silica system. Only one high-duty fireclay composition was studied throughout the tests.The outcome of the work was to show that for the iron oxide-silica compositions studied a high-duty fireclay refractory can be used to contain the melts if the temperature of the process is maintained below 1300°C and when the slag composition is less than the orthosilicate composition (2FeO.SiO2).  相似文献

Conclusions A batch of block slit firebrick was produced for hot blast stoves of blast furnaces and qualitative characteristics of the brick determined. The brick can be prepared with the existing technology for making standard brick for hot blast stoves.It is undesirable to use the SM-143 press for making the slit brick. Conclusions The Chasov-Yar Refractories Combine has organized the production of firebrick of 57 standard sizes for lining the shafts of furnaces used for direct reduction of iron oxides.Tests of brick with an open porosity of up to 16% and up to 1.5% Fe2O3 showed that they are resistant to reducing conditions in a current of CO at 500°C for 500 h. These refractories have been in use since 1983 at OÉMK in the linings of shaft furnaces used for reduction firing of nodules. During service the working layer of the refractories becomes saturated with fine dust from the nodules, become densified and worn due to abrasion. The pores of the refractory are saturated with a small amount of finely dispersed carbon.A TU 14-8-606-90 standard specification is being prepared — Refractory fireclay shapes for constructing shaft furnaces used for nodule metallization. Rate process theory was applied in a study of the creep behavior of a fireclay refractory (firebrick) after different heat treatments. The analysis was based on the assumption that, in the absence of phase changes, equivalent deformation substructures are produced for a given strain at constant stress independent of temperature. An activation energy of about 170 kcal/mole was determined for the flow process in a heat-treated firebrick, which corresponds closely to the value for mullite specimens. Varying but higher values obtained under different test conditions indicated that phase changes were also occurring during the creep tests. The effect of the amount and texture of the components on the creep behavior and strength of the firebrick specimens is discussed. Useful correlations based on this approach are presented, making it possible to predict creep behavior at constant or variable temperatures and also to calculate stress distributions through a wall containing a temperature gradient after a given strain is reached in a given time.  相似文献

Corrosion processes of Al2O3-ZrO2-SiO2 and Al2O3-SiO2 refractories were studied. Chemical, microscopic, and X-ray diffraction investigations are reported. A composition of a fireclay mortar with a casting binder as a plasticizing additive is described. Results of a study of the properties of a mortar of grade MSh39 with a composite plasticizing agent (soda ash+LST) and a casting binder are presented. It is established that use of a casting binder in the composition of a fireclay mortar increases the adhesion between the mortar and the refractory, decreases the thickness of the joint, and simplifies the production process of the mortar.
