This paper presents a novel hardware architecture for the real-time high-throughput implementation of the adaptive deblocking filtering process specified by the H.264/AVC video coding standard. A parallel filtering order of six units is proposed according to the H.264/AVC standard. With a parallel filtering order (fully compliant with H.264/AVC) and a dedicated data arrangement in local memory banks, the proposed architecture can process filtering operations for one macroblock with less filtering cycles than previously proposed approaches. Whereas, filtering efficiency is improved due to a novel computation scheduling and a dedicated architecture composed of six filtering cores. It can be used either into the decoder or the encoder as a hardware accelerator for the processor or can be embedded into a full-hardware codec. This developed Intellectual Property block-based on the proposed architecture supports multiple and high definition processing flows in real time. While working at clock frequency of 150 MHz, synthesized under 65 nm low power and low voltage CMOS standard cell technology, it easily meets the throughput requirements for 4 k video at 30 fps of all the levels in H.264/AVC video coding standard and consumes 25.08 Kgates.  相似文献

In H.264/advanced video coding (AVC), lossless coding and lossy coding share the same entropy coding module. However, the entropy coders in the H.264/AVC standard were original designed for lossy video coding and do not yield adequate performance for lossless video coding. In this paper, we analyze the problem with the current lossless coding scheme and propose a mode-dependent template (MD-template) based method for intra lossless coding. By exploring the statistical redundancy of the prediction residual in the H.264/AVC intra prediction modes, more zero coefficients are generated. By designing a new scan order for each MD-template, the scanned coefficients sequence fits the H.264/AVC entropy coders better. A fast implementation algorithm is also designed. With little computation increase, experimental results confirm that the proposed fast algorithm achieves about 7.2% bit saving compared with the current H.264/AVC fidelity range extensions high profile.  相似文献

H.264/MPEG4-AVC is the latest video coding standard of the ITU-T video coding experts group (VCEG) and the ISO/IEC moving picture experts group (MPEG). H.264/MPEG4-AVC has recently become the most widely accepted video coding standard since the deployment of MPEG2 at the dawn of digital television, and it may soon overtake MPEG2 in common use. It covers all common video applications ranging from mobile services and videoconferencing to IPTV, HDTV, and HD video storage. This article discusses the technology behind the new H.264/MPEG4-AVC standard, focusing on the main distinct features of its core coding technology and its first set of extensions, known as the fidelity range extensions (FRExt). In addition, this article also discusses the current status of adoption and deployment of the new standard in various application areas.  相似文献

This paper describes the details and the results of the subjective quality evaluation performed at EPFL, as a contribution to the effort of the joint collaborative team on video coding (JCT-VC) for the definition of the high efficiency video coding (HEVC) standard. The performance of twenty-seven coding technologies has been evaluated with respect to two H.264/MPEG-4 AVC anchors, for high definition (HD) test material. The test campaign involved a total of 494 naive observers and took place over a period of four weeks. While similar tests have been conducted as part of the standardization process of previous video coding technologies, the test campaign described in this paper is by far the most extensive in the history of video coding standardization. A detailed statistical analysis of the subjective results is provided. The results show high consistency and support an accurate comparison of the performance of the different coding technologies.  相似文献

Due to the growing demand of digital convergence, there is a need to have a video encoder/decoder (codec) that is capable of supporting multiple video standards on a single platform. High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), successor to H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, is a new standard under development that aims to substantially improve coding efficiency compared to AVC High Profile. This paper presents an efficient architecture based on a resource sharing strategy that can perform the quantization operation of the emerging HEVC encoder and six other video encoders: H.264/AVC, AVS, VC-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and Motion JPEG (MJPEG). Since HEVC is still in the drafting stage, the proposed architecture is designed in such a way that any final changes can be accommodated into the design. The proposed quantizer architecture is completely division-free, as the division operation is replaced by shift and addition operations for all the codecs. The design is implemented on an FPGA and later synthesized in CMOS 0.18 μm technology. While working at 190 MHz, the design can decode a 1080p HD video at up to 61 frames per second. The multi-codec architecture is also suitable for low-cost VLSI implementation.  相似文献

AVS1-P2 is a recently completed video compression standard developed by the Audio and Video Coding Standard (AVS) Workgroup of China. The standard promises comparable compression efficiency to the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video codec with lower implementation complexity and royalty fees. AVS1-P2 is the Chinese next generation national video coding standard with an increasing amount of industrial importance as it is being required for different applications and services. It is expected that AVS1-P2 will be prominent in emerging Chinese digital video application markets, especially for personal video recorder (PVR) and video on demand (VOD).This paper discusses how trick modes for PVR and VOD can be performed with AVS1-P2 content. It begins with generating an index table to facilitate AVS1-P2 trick modes followed by a discussion of basic and advanced trick modes. Next, the minimum decoder speed and display frame buffer requirements are analyzed for smooth trick play, especially for 1× rewind. VOD stream delivery strategies for various trick modes and transitions are then discussed. Finally, an overview of other topics that may affect implementation such as content protection and encoding is provided. Many of the discussions are also applicable to other video coding standards like MPEG-2, H.264/AVC, etc.  相似文献

码率控制是视频编码中非常重要的技术之一,任何标准离开码率控制其应用都会受到限制.H.264/AVC是目前最新的视频编码标准,本文根据H.264/AVC编码标准的特性及其HRD部分对码率控制的要求,提出了一种新的适合H.264/AVC的码率控制算法,该算法实现了率失真优化与码率控制的结合,使得在达到码率控制的同时也能保证较高的编码效率,同时在码率控制的过程中根据HRD缓冲区状态进行位分配调整,保证了编解码缓冲区既不上溢又不下溢.该算法作为技术提案已被H.264/AVC接受,并集成到H.264/AVC的校验模型软件中.  相似文献

新一代视频编码标准HEVC(High Efficiency Video Coding)主要面向高清及超高清视频编码,压缩效率相比之前的编码标准H.264有较大提高.但压缩效率的提高必然会带来计算的复杂化,为提高HEVC的解码效率,降低时延,提出了一种并行解码器架构.该并行解码器的设计是基于HEVC中熵片(Entropy slice)和波前并行处理(Wavefront Parallel Processing, WPP)技术的引入以及滤波器(Deblocking Filter)无相关性的特点.实验结果表明,该并行解码器能够充分利用硬件资源,提高解码效率.  相似文献
