In this work, it is studied the influence of the pH of the waste in the coagulation with aluminum by conventional and electrochemical dosing. To do that, the speciation of aluminum as a function of the pH has been characterized, and this information has been used to interpret the results obtained in the treatments (by both coagulation methods) of a synthetic oil-in-water emulsion and an actual effluent of a door-manufacturing factory. Results show that a simple change in the pH of the wastes can result in a significant change in the efficiency of the coagulation process, and that if the same pH conditions are found at the end of the treatment, the efficiencies of the solution-dosing and of the electrochemical dosing technologies are very similar.  相似文献

Metallographic preparation of lead and its alloys is notoriously difficult due to the low hardness of the material and its tendency to pick up and embed abrasive particles readily. Working with component parts for lead acid batteries at Lucas Advanced Vehicle Systems Development, the odd shapes and sizes, such as connector posts and intercell welds, do not lend themselves to microtoming or electropolishing. Vibratory polishing had been used in the past but this method could take up to 6 days to produce an acceptable microsection. Using semiautomatic polishing equipment had proved more successful, but again long periods of time were taken to produce satisfatory results with all the problems of lubricant and abrasive dosing. Tests on newer, commercially available pads and abrasives provided by various manufacturers have been carried out, but it was found that a combination of machining, polishing with diamond, and final polishing with alumina gave the best results. The use of automatic polishing equipment made the preparation easier with both contrarotation and complementary rotation directions. Lubricants and abrasives recommended by the metallographic consumable suppliers for soft materials were not suitable for the easily stained and oxidized lead alloys. This report lays out the steps taken to produce the stated optimized procedure and shows some unusual structures that have been revealed in components taken from batteries undergoing testing, one of which had suffered explosive damage.  相似文献

Advanced technology for more efficient and effective wastewater treatment is always timely needed. The feasibility of using raw and modified diatomite for advanced treatment of secondary sewage effluents (SSE) was investigated in this study. Raw diatomite at a dosing rate of 300 mg/l showed a similar potential as activated carbon for removing most organic pollutants and toxic metals from SSE. Its performance was found poor in removal of arsenic and crop nutrient constituents (e.g. ammoniacal nitrogen and phosphate) and remained unsatisfactory even when the dosing rate increased up to 500 mg/l. Where modified diatomite was in lieu of raw diatomite, the removal efficiency for all target constituents was improved by 20-50%. At the dosing rate of 150 mg/l, modified diatomite enabled the post-treated effluents to satisfy the discharge consents, with the levels of all target constituents below the regulatory limits. Modified diatomite has advantages over raw diatomite in improving removal efficiency and reducing the dosing rate required for satisfactory treatment of SSE. It is concluded that modified diatomite is much more effective and efficient than raw diatomite, as an alternative to activated carbon, for economic treatment of SSE.  相似文献

A Study has been made of the physical characteristics of the participate products to be filled in vertical form-fill-seal machines and the configuration and dimensions of the filling and dosing devices commonly employed. Filling from cups with different opening mechanisms and filling systems using an auger have been examined, and the dosing accuracy found in all instances to be more dependent on variations in the bulk density, general particle shape and size etc. of the product being filled than on the dimensions etc of the filling device. Results are reported on many of the possible characteristics in an attempt to find the relevant one(s) but it is concluded that our knowledge of product characteristics is insufficient and that more research is required.  相似文献

Digital gas dosing device for rough vacuum Vacuum gauges are calibrated by comparing the gauge under calibration with a reference gauge. Both gauges are mounted at a vacuum chamber. Different pressures are generated in sequence, and at each pressure the readings of both gauges are recorded. In the coarse vacuum range, the pressures are usually generated by successive injection of gas into the chamber via a manually operated dosing valve. This procedure requires some time and also fatigues the operator's hand. Therefore, a digital gas dosing device based on electromagnetic valves was developed, which allows a faster und more precise pressure generation than the analogue dosing valve and which is also friendly to the operators hand.
