One of the most challenging topics for next generation wireless networks is vertical handoff concept since several wireless technologies are assumed to cooperate. Plenty of parameters related to user preferences, application requirements, and network conditions, such as; data rate, service cost, network latency, speed of mobile, battery level, interference ratio and etc. must be considered in vertical handoff process along with traditional RSSI information. In this study, a new artificial neural network based handoff decision algorithm is proposed in order to reduce the handoff latency of smart terminal deployed in aforementioned wireless heterogeneous infrastructures. The prominent parameters data rate, monetary cost and RSSI information are taken as inputs of the developed vertical handoff decision system. Performance results of the proposed system are also compared with those of classical Multiple Attribute Decision Making method Simple Additive Weighting, and of some other artificial intelligence based algorithms. According to the results obtained, the proposed neural network based vertical handoff decision algorithm is able to determine whether a handoff is necessary or not properly, and selects the best candidate access network considering the abovementioned parameters. The results also show that, the neural network based algorithm developed significantly reduces the handoff latency while the number of handoffs, which is another vital performance metric, is still reasonable.  相似文献

In heterogeneous wireless network environment, wireless local area network (WLAN) is usually deployed within the coverage of a cellular network to provide users with the convenience of seamless roaming among heterogeneous wireless access networks. Vertical handoffs between the WLAN and the cellular network maybe occur frequently. As for the vertical handoff performance, there is a critical requirement for developing algorithms for connection management and optimal resource allocation for seamless mobility. In this paper, we develop a mathematical model for vertical handoff decision problem, and propose a multi-objective optimization immune algorithm-based vertical handoff decision scheme. The proposed scheme can enable a wireless access network not only to balance the overall load among all base stations and access points but also maximize the collective battery lifetime of mobile terminals. Results based on a detailed performance evaluation study are also presented here to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed scheme.  相似文献

Vertical handoff in next generation heterogeneous wireless networks is a multi-dimensional issue. In this article we propose a multi-dimensional adaptive SINR based vertical handoff algorithm (MASVH) which uses the combined effects of SINR, user required bandwidth, user traffic cost and utilization from participating access networks to make handoff decisions for multi-attribute QoS consideration. Simulation results confirm that the new MASVH algorithm improves the system performance in terms of higher throughput and lower dropping probability, as well as reduces the user traffic cost for accessing the integrated wireless networks.  相似文献

In order to enhance the quality of vertical handoff in an overlay wireless network, multiple attributes are taken into account when optimizing the vertical handoff decision including user-based and network-based QoS factors. In this paper, we develop a novel vertical handoff algorithm in an integrated 3G cellular and Wireless LAN networks. The proposed algorithm can adjust the weight of each QoS attribute dynamically as the networks change, trace the network condition and choose the optimal access point at transient regions. Simulation results show that this algorithm is able to provide accurate handoff decision, resulting in small unnecessary handoff numbers, good performance of throughput and handoff delay in heterogeneous environments.  相似文献

针对全IP核心网络的不同无线接入技术,提出一种基于预判决模糊逻辑的垂直切换算法.引入预判决方法有效减少不必要的数据量和系统开销.采用前向差分预测能够较准确地预测出下一时刻的信号强度,提高了切换触发速度和切换判决精度.采用模糊逻辑的方法,以接收信号强度、预测信号强度及可用带宽作为网络参量设计模糊逻辑控制器,进而采用归一量化的方法改进模糊逻辑系统,得到网络的综合性能值进行垂直切换判决.仿真分析表明,本文提出的算法能够较准确做出切换判决,有效消除乒乓效应,提高系统性能.  相似文献

Although there are various wireless access network technologies with different characteristics and performance level have been developed, no single network that can satisfy the anytime, anywhere, and any service wireless access needs of mobile users. A truly seamless mobile environment can only be realized by considering vertical and horizontal handoffs together. With the advantages of Mobile IPv6, a more comprehensive and integrated framework of heterogeneous networks can be developed. In this paper, we discuss the issues related to handoffs including horizontal and vertical handoffs. We present a scheme for integrating wireless local area network and wide area access networks, and propose a micromobility management method called HiMIPv6+. We also propose a QoS-based (quality-of-service-based) vertical handoff scheme and algorithm that consider wireless network transport capacity and user service requirement. Our prototype evaluations and the simulations show that our framework performs as expected.  相似文献

在车辆异构网络中,针对垂直切换决策时刻之后网络状态的动态变化,提高切换性能问题,提出一种基于马尔可夫过程的预测垂直切换(M-VHO)算法。算法考虑了切换决策后网络状态的动态变化对车辆终端服务质量(QoS)的影响。其基本思路是:在需要垂直切换时,利用马尔可夫过程的转移概率预测未来网络状态的变化;另外,采用模糊逻辑方法确定评价属性参数权重;最后,比较切换决策、切换执行和切换之后时刻的总收益来优化选择最佳切换网络。仿真结果证明,该算法在确保较高负载均衡的情况下,可有效改进车辆终端的平均阻塞率及丢包率,降低乒乓效应,确保了车辆终端的QoS。  相似文献

It is commonly held that next generation mobile systems will be developed on the Internet in combination with diverse access technologies, as the future network architecture will be the coming together of various overlapping wireless access networks. Integrating various wireless networks in future heterogeneous networking environments poses many difficulties, the most critical challenge of which is efficient support for seamless mobility. SIP is a promising nominee for managing mobility in heterogeneous networks as it provides mobility within the application layer and the characteristics of the lower layer protocols are invisible to it. However, the performance of SIP-based mobility management is downgraded, resulting from its adoption of TCP/UDP for signaling and its strict separation between the lower layers and the application layer of the protocol stack. In this paper, a SIP-based cross-layer design for fast handoffs is proposed to shorten the service interruption time when a mobile node crosses the overlapped area of a WLAN/3G cellular system. As will be shown by the simulation results, the SIP-based solution proposed in this paper effectively lessens the handoff delays caused by either the horizontal handoff or vertical handoff in future all-IP heterogeneous wireless networks.  相似文献

在异构无线网络环境下高速移动的终端用户需要随时随地接入网络,然而,在垂直切换过程中,由于终端用户对网络选择的偏好不同以及切换之后网络连接时间和状态难以得到保障,无法满足用户的切换需求。因此,提出了一种支持终端用户高速移动的基于认知自选择决策树的垂直切换方法。该方法首先根据网络属性和终端运动趋势建立相应的切换概率分布,然后根据用户偏好选择相应的决策树进行决策,最后通过对切换后终端的业务类型和运动状态进行反馈分析,提出了反馈认知决策方法。仿真结果表明,所提的方法不仅能够保证高速移动终端在异构无线网络下的切换质量,而且减少了不必要的切换,保证了网络的及时更新。  相似文献

以通用移动通信系统(UMTS)与无线局域网(WLAN)融合为例,研究无线异构网络的垂直切换算法。由于垂直切换算法应考虑因素的复杂性以及不同网络性能的各异性,有必要对现有算法作出归纳总结比较,并据此提出新的垂直切换算法。该算法以代价函数为基础,将稳定周期与切换目标网络和当前服务网络的效用函数联系起来,实现移动节点自适应的切换判决。提出的算法能有效减少不必要的切换,增强异构网络的适应性。  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a trajectory-aware handoff algorithm based on position, velocity, signaling delay, and receive signal strength (RSS) of mobile terminal (MT). In order to provide seamless service in modern heterogeneous networks, handoff of the MT should be initiated with correct timing. In our algorithm, velocity of MT is divided into two parts as radial velocity and tangential velocity. For more precise handoff initiation, tangential velocity of MT is neglected, and only radial velocity of MT is considered in handoff decision making. Moreover, before handoff decision, least square line method is applied to RSS of MT to avoid unnecessary back-and-forth handoffs (ping-pong handoffs) between different services. A simulation is provided to compare the proposed algorithm with other various handoff methods, and the results prove this algorithm to have outperformed others.  相似文献

车辆需要在车联网的异构无线网络环境下进行垂直切换,针对垂直切换技术普遍不能支持 WAVE, WiMAX和3G cellular间的垂直切换这一问题,提出了一种基于贝叶斯决策的垂直切换算法。首先,根据接入网络的信号强度、传输速率、误码率和网络阻塞率以及车辆终端的速度和运动趋势建立多条件相关的切换概率分布,计算出切换先验概率;然后通过贝叶斯决策算法计算后验概率并进行决策分类,从而选取最优网络接入。仿真实验结果表明,该算法不仅有效地实现WAVE,WiMAX和3G cellular无线接入技术之间的垂直切换,而且避免了乒乓效应,保证了网络及时更新。  相似文献

We propose a novel vertical handoff scheme with the support of the software‐defined networking technique for heterogeneous wireless networks. The proposed scheme solves two important issues in vertical handoff: network selection and handoff timing. In this paper, the network selection is formulated as a 0‐1 integer programming problem, which maximizes the sum of channel capacities that handoff users can obtain from their new access points. After the network selection process is finished, a user will wait for a time period. Only if the new access point is consistently more appropriate than the current access point during this time period, will the user transfer its inter‐network connection to the new access point. Our proposed scheme ensures that a user will transfer to the most appropriate access point at the most appropriate time. Comprehensive simulation has been conducted. It is shown that the proposed scheme reduces the number of vertical handoffs, maximizes the total throughput, and user served ratio significantly. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Wireless networking is becoming an increasingly important and popular way of providing global information access to users on the move. One of the main challenges for seamless mobility is the availability of simple and robust vertical handoff algorithms, which allow a mobile node to roam among heterogeneous wireless networks. In this paper, motivated by the facts that vertical handoff procedure is done on mobile nodes and battery power may be one crucial parameter for certain mobile nodes, a simple and robust two-step vertical handoff decision algorithm is proposed for heterogeneous wireless mobile networks. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first vertical handoff algorithm that takes the classification of mobile nodes into consideration, one is resource-poor mobile nodes, and the other is resource-rich mobile nodes. This new feature makes it more applicable in the real world. In addition, dynamic new call blocking probability is firstly introduced by this paper to make handoff decision for wireless networks. The experiment results have shown that the proposed algorithm outperforms traditional algorithms in bandwidth utilization, handoff dropping rate and handoff rate.  相似文献

In the global scenario, a variety of wireless access networks are available. Different types of applications such as real time, nonreal time, and high bandwidth availability are used for heterogeneous wireless networks. Therefore, it is necessary for a service provider to make an appropriate connection support. For better performance, connections are to be exchanged among the different networks using seamless vertical handoff (VHO). The proposed algorithm shows the effect of optimization technique, which involves handoff decision process using vertical handoff triggering and selection of the network. The handoff triggering is initiated by using the received signal strength (RSS). In traditional method, handoff triggering is initiated by using RSS only. This method, modified weed optimization (M-WO) algorithm, reduces the unnecessary handoff by considering both RSS and velocity of the mobile node in handoff triggering. The parameters such as battery lifetime, handoff call dropping rate, load, dynamic weights adaptation and so on are to be considered individually or combined to make an effective network selection process. This paper highlights a novel effect ofM-WOalgorithm for decision making during the VHO. Our effort is to essentially optimize the system load, so that it reduces the handoff call dropping rate and the battery power consumption of the mobile node (MN). Weight of each QoS metrics is adjusted along with the networks changing conditions to trace the M-WO. Therefore, the novel VHO decision-making algorithm is superior to the existing SSF and OPTG methods. The simulation results show that the performance ofM-WOalgorithm is far better than SSF andOPTGmethods in terms of load, handoff call dropping rate and battery lifetime of MN.  相似文献

由于对终端移动趋势的不明确,基站容易盲目发起切换,并导致较高的切换失败率。该文在LTE-WiMAX网络构成的异构无线网络环境下对现有的垂直切换算法进行了优化。该优化算法考虑了终端移动趋势,利用趋势量化参数来推断终端最终的目标区域,解决已有判决算法中存在的不必要切换过多的问题,提高切换成功率。在衰落信道下的计算机仿真结果表明,该优化算法可以减小切换中的切换失败率,从而提高网络的切换性能。  相似文献

In this paper, we propose the signal strength ratio (SSR) based vertical handoff (VHO) algorithms and the averaged received signal strength (ARSS) based VHO algorithms for integrated networks of wireless local area network (WLAN) and 3G network. The performance of our proposed VHO algorithms with hysteresis and dwell timer approaches has been investigated for two different topologies of integrated heterogeneous network. Two different network topologies consider two different types of radio cell arrangement. A mobile terminal (MT) is moving within the coverage area of WLAN and 3G with constant velocity. The received signal strength at the MT of interest is measured at different sampling instant. The received signal strength with other additional parameters is used to determine the condition of VHO. We evaluate the decision delay, and the number of vertical handoffs between WLAN and 3G network using the proposed VHO algorithms. We compare the performance of our proposed VHO algorithms with existing RSS based VHO algorithm. Our proposed SSR and ARSS based VHO algorithms provide less decision delay as compared to existing RSS based VHO algorithm. Further, ARSS with dwell timer based VHO algorithm provides better performance than other VHO algorithms.  相似文献
