Announces the 1972 recipient of the American Psychological Foundation's Distinguished Contributions to Education in Psychology Award, James Leslie McCary. The award is typically given to individuals who have made unusual contributions to instruction in psychology either through their own teaching or through other instructional functions, such as developing new courses. The award is given in the form of a check for $1,000 to be used for the improvement of education in psychology in whatever manner the awardee may decide, and a citation indicating the nature of the contribution. Further, the award is made on the recommendation of the Committee on Teaching Awards, which was chaired this year by Irwin Knopf. McCary was chosen as the recipient of this award because he has extended the teaching of psychology beyond the bounds of standard courses with great distinction and success.
