Ho3+-doped (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-based transparent ceramics have been prepared via pressureless solid-state method. The ceramics possess moderate optical transparency with the energy band gap of ~2.9 eV and submicron-sized grains (<500 nm). The temperature-dependent dielectric properties and ferroelectric polarization-electric field hysteresis loops demonstrate that the ceramics own relaxor-like characteristics. The up-conversion photoluminescence and optical temperature sensing properties of the ceramics have been investigated. The temperature dependence of photoluminescence provides a fluorescent method to detect phase transitions, which can be expanded to other ferroelectric systems. The outstanding optical temperature sensitivity (~0.0075/K at 430 K) of the ceramic is higher than many other rare-earth-doped ceramics or glasses. These results suggest that the Ho3+-doped (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-based transparent ceramics are promising lead-free transparent materials for multifunctional applications, especially in temperature sensing devices.  相似文献

K0.5Na0.5NbO3-based materials are serious candidates to replace lead-based piezoceramics since they show excellent electrical and piezoelectric properties. The tape casting technique can be used to obtain highly textured KNN-based ceramics; however, despite industrial and environmental advantages of water-based processing, there are not reports about the control of colloidal processing conditions to obtain optimized K0.5Na0.5NbO3-based slurries in aqueous medium. This paper reports a procedure for controlling colloidal stability and rheological behavior of aqueous (K0.5Na0.5)0.97Li0.03Nb0.8Ta0.2O3 suspensions. Zeta potential and cationic solubility measurements as a function of pH showed that pH 8.5 is adequate for concentrated suspensions, while flow curves analysis allowed optimizing processing parameters, such as, powder content, amount of deflocculant and binder, and sonication time. Optimized colloidal suspensions were prepared and used to obtain high quality tapes. Processed ceramics from these stacked tapes show equivalent properties to those processed directly from powders, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the colloidal route reported here.  相似文献

A series of Bi0.5-xErxNa0.4K0.1TiO3 (BNKT-xEr) ceramics were designed and fabricated, the dopant effects on dielectric, piezoelectric and photoluminescence properties were studied. The results show that the piezoelectric property of BNKT can be enhanced by a trace amount of Er dopant, which is also reflected in the large linear electrostrain (Suni = 0.29%, under 55 kV/cm) achieved in BNKT-0.0025 Er. On the other hand, higher Er content can produce excellent dielectric temperature stability, with △?/?150 °C < ±15% over temperature range of 90~510 °C. Meanwhile, all BNKT-xEr ceramics exhibit good photoluminescence properties, which may open new applications of these multifunctional ceramics.  相似文献

The piezoelectric voltage constant (g33) is a material parameter critical to piezoelectric voltage-type sensors for detecting vibrations or strains. Here, we report a lead-free (K,Na)NbO3 (KNN)-based piezoelectric accelerometer with voltage sensitivity enhanced by taking advantage of a high g33. To achieve a high g33, the magnitudes of piezoelectric charge constant d33 and dielectric permittivity εr of KNN were best coupled by manipulating the intrinsic polymorphic phase boundaries effectively with the help of Bi-based perovskite oxide additives. For the KNN composition that derives benefit from the combination of εr and d33, the value of g33 was found to be 46.9 × 10?3 V·m/N, which is significantly higher than those (20 – 30 × 10?3 V·m/N) found in well-known polycrystalline lead-based ceramics including commercial Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 (PZT). Finally, the accelerometer sensor prototype built using the modified KNN composition demonstrated higher voltage sensitivity (183 mV/g) when measuring vibrations, showing a 29% increase against the PZT-based sensor (142 mV/g).  相似文献

Pairing of large strain response and high d33 with high Tc in (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-based materials is of high significance in practical applications for piezoelectric actuators. Here, we report remarkable enhancement in the electromechanical properties for (1-x)(K0.52Na0.48) (Nb0.95Sb0.05)O3-xCaZrO3 (KNNS-xCZ) lead-free ceramics through the construction of a rhombohedral (R)-tetragonal (T) phase boundary. We investigated the correlation between the composition-driven phase boundary and resulting ferroelectric, piezoelectric, and strain properties in KNNS-xCZ ceramics. The KNNS-xCZ ceramics with x=0.02 exhibited a large strain response of 0.23% while keeping a relatively large d33 of 237pC/N, which was mainly ascribed to the coexistence of R and T phases confirmed by the XRD and dielectric results. It was found that pairing of large strain response and high d33 in KNN-based materials was achieved. As a consequence, we believe that this study opens the possibility to achieve high-performance lead-free electromechanical compounds for piezoelectric actuators applications.  相似文献

Lead-free (K0.44Na0.46)NbO3-0.5%MnO2 (KNN-0.5%MnO2) single crystals with dimensions of Ф30×10 mm were successfully grown by a top seeded solution growth technique (TSSG). The X-ray diffraction pattern has shown that the as-grown crystals have an orthorhombic perovskite structure. The orthorhombic-tetragonal (TO-T) and tetragonal-cubic phase transition temperature (the Curie temperature TC) of the single crystal were found at 184 °C and 412 °C, respectively. The KNN-0.5%MnO2 single crystals exhibited high piezoelectric constants d33 and dielectric permittivity εr, being 261 pC/N and 275. Well saturated P-E hysteresis loop with remnant polarization Pr=22.06 µC/cm2 and coercive field Ec=17.93 kV/cm was obtained at a maximum electric field of 3 kV/mm. A high strain (0.24%) and electromechanical coupling coefficient Kt (65.9%) were obtained along the (001) orientation. These excellent results indicated that the KNN-0.5%MnO2 single crystals could be used as high quality lead-free material.  相似文献

To further improve the properties of KNN-based lead-free ceramics, a new ceramic system, (0.98-x)K0.525Na0.475Nb0.965Sb0.035O3-0.02 BaZr0.5Hf0.5O3-x(Bi0.5Na0.5)ZrO3(KNNS-BZH-xBNZ) was designed, the relevant properties such as piezoelectricity, strain, and temperature stability were analysed in detail. It was found that the R-T phase boundary can be successfully constructed when x=0.030, and this two-phase coexistence shows relatively good comprehensive properties (d33~410 pC/N, TC~255 °C, Suni~0.132%, and d33*~441 pm/V). Meanwhile, its strain property also shows good temperature stability from room temperature to 180 °C (Suni100°C/SuniRT~97.5% and Suni180°C/SuniRT~83.9%), which is comparatively superior to many KNN-based ceramics and some lead-based ceramics. Therefore, KNNS-BZH-xBNZ ceramics may broaden the practical application of lead-free ceramics.  相似文献

The issue of how to achieve an electrocaloric effect (ECE) and pyroelectric effect in a material simultaneously remains to be a challenge for developing practical solid-state cooling devices and RF-detectors. Here, we structure a polymorphic phase transition (PPT) region by doping modification in KNN-based ceramics, which are developed to achieve the ECE. The direct measured ECE and pyroelectric properties are investigated in lead-free (1-x)K0.5Na0.5NbO3-xBi0.5Na0.5ZrO3 (KNN-xBNZ) ceramics. The adiabatic temperature change (∆T) of 0.22 K at 100°C, 0.14 K at 70°C and 0.16 K at 30°C can be obtained under an electric field of 35 kV cm–1 for x = 0.03, 0.04 and 0.05, respectively. In addition, the temperature dependence of pyroelectric coefficient (p) is established for all compositions via the Byer-Roundy method. A large p of 454.46 × 10–4 C m–2 K–1 is detected at Curie temperature (TC) in the ceramics with x = 0.03. Achieving electrocaloric effect and pyroelectric performance simultaneously may shed light and provide a feasible design scheme for developing practically useful electrocaloric and pyroelectric materials.  相似文献

(K,Na)NbO3 (KNN)-based ceramics have been proven to be formidable candidates among lead-free piezoelectric materials, yet poor reproducibility always hinders their progress. In the present study, the effects of low lithium substitution on the electrical properties and microstructure of (K0.5Na0.5)1-xLixNbO3 (KNLN) ceramics were investigated. All samples were synthesized by the sol-gel method. The Curie temperature (TC) of the ceramics shifted to higher temperature and gradually decreased the monoclinic-tetragonal (TM-T) phase transition. Li+ substitution had a prominent effect on the ferroelectric properties and improved the piezoelectric coefficient (d33) up to 181 pC/N. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) studies and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) images revealed an inevitable tetragonal tungsten bronze (TTB) secondary phase, which was formed during the preparation process. It was demonstrated that the volatilization of Li+ cations facilitated TTB growth. The coexistence of two different phase structures proved to enhance the KNN piezoelectric performance.  相似文献

Traditional solid-state luminescent materials (e.g., phosphors and microcrystalline glasses) have attracted extensive attention due to their high energy efficiency and long lifespan. However, their application scope is limited by complex compositions and manufacturing processes, as well as single-function. In this study, solid-state reaction was utilized to prepare transparent-ferroelectric (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 (KNN) ceramics by simply codoping with Dy3+ and Sr2+, providing possibilities for large-scale production. Ceramics exhibit high optical transmittance, high-quality white-light emission and relaxor ferroelectric feature. Under irradiation of UV light, photochromic behavior occurring in the ceramics, resulting in modulating the optical performances, especially quality of emitted white light. Multifunctionality can expand latent applications of KNN-based ceramics from white light-emitting diodes to modulated optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

Recently, the progress of electronic devices toward miniaturization has strongly promoted development of multifunctional materials possessing multiple desirable properties. In this study, we develop and fabricate 0.93Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-0.07BaTiO3-xEr multifunctional ceramics which show simultaneously considerable electric-field-induced strain and bright green light emission properties. With the introduction of Er3+, the ceramics gradually transform from non-ergodic relaxor phase to ergodic relaxor phase which could reversibly transform to ferroelectric phase under the electric field. As a result, with improving Er3+ content, the shape of the polarization-electric field loops of the ceramics become pinched, and it is obvious that the negative strain disappears while the positive strain gradually increases and reaches a maximum value 0.46% at x = 1.2 mol%. Besides, After the ceramics are poled, the light emission peak are greatly enhanced attributed to the decreased crystal symmetry and increased domain size, and is the strongest at x = 1.2 mol%. These results indicate that 0.93Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-0.07BaTiO3-xEr ceramics are good candidates for developing multifunctional optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

Dense Li/Ta-codoped KNN-based piezoceramics with d33* up to 375 pm/V were successfully fabricated by conventional sintering at a temperature as low as 900 °C by using LiF as a sintering additive. The reduction of densification temperature up to 200 °C was realized by a transient liquid phase sintering mechanism, consequently no grain boundary phase was observed in the sintered samples. It was found that the addition of LiF could further shift down the tetragonal–orthorhombic transition point (TT-O), indicating that a small amount of Li+ could diffuse into the A-site of KNN matrix. The introduction of LiF enhanced the linearity of strain curves of the ceramics, which is unambiguously in favor for the actuator application. The present work reveals that low-temperature sintered LiF-doped KNN-based piezoceramics demonstrates promising potential in multilayer-structured actuator applications.  相似文献

For perovskite Pb-based ceramics, outstanding hardening piezoelectric properties can be easily induced by acceptor dopings of Fe, Mn or Cu, but in this work, completely different hardening effects are observed in Fe/Mn/Cu-doped K0.5Na0.5NbO3 ceramics. Pure K0.5Na0.5NbO3 exhibits a well-saturated single P-E loop, giving low Qm of 72. Fe2O3-doped ceramic exhibits the combined effects of dominant donor and slight acceptor, giving a slightly slanted single P-E loop and relatively low Qm of 156. For MnO2-doped ceramic, moderate hardening properties with a slightly pinched P-E loop and relatively high Qm of 370 are exhibited. Unlike Fe2O3 and MnO2-doped ceramics, a double P-E loop and superhigh Qm of 1965 are obtained in CuO-doped ceramic. The defect structure and corresponding microscopic mechanisms in the ceramics have been systematically investigated. Our study shows that defect characteristics should be responsible for distinct hardening properties in Fe, Mn and Cu-doped K0.5Na0.5NbO3 materials.  相似文献

Bi0.5(Na0.65K0.35)0.5TiO3 (BNKT) and Mn-modified Bi0.5(Na0.65K0.35)0.5(MnxTi1−x)O3 (BNKMT-103x), (x=0.0–0.5%) ferroelectric ceramics were synthesized by solid-state reaction method. Optimization of calcination temperature in Mn-doped ceramics was carried out for the removal of secondary phases observed in XRD analysis. BNKMT ceramics sintered at 1090 °C showed enhanced dielectric, piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties in comparison to pure BNKT. The average grain size was found to increase from 0.35 μm in BNKT to 0.52 μm in Bi0.5(Na0.65K0.35)0.5(Mn0.0025Ti0.9975)O3 (BNKMT-2.5) ceramics. The dielectric permittivity maximum temperature (Tm) was increased to a maximum of 345 °C with Mn-modification. AC conductivity analysis was performed as a function of temperature and frequency to investigate the conduction behavior and determine activation energies. Significant high value of piezoelectric charge coefficient (d33=176 pC/N) was achieved in BNKMT 2.5 ceramics. Improved temperature stability of ferroelectric behavior was observed in the temperature dependent P–E hysteresis loops as a result of Mn-incorporation. The fatigue free nature along with enhanced dielectric and ferroelectric properties make BNKMT-2.5 ceramic a promising candidate for replacing lead based ceramics in device applications.  相似文献

Piezoelectric sensors and energy harvesters require piezoelectric materials with large piezoelectric responses and good thermal stability. However, a commonly accepted concept is that the promotion of depolarization temperature of Bi1/2Na1/2TiO3-based lead-free ceramics is usually companied by deterioration of piezoelectric properties. In the present study, the effects of acceptor-Fe doping on piezoelectric property and thermal depolarization behavior of Bi1/2(Na0.8K0.2)1/2TiO3 ceramics are investigated. Fe doping at an appropriate level (≤ 3.0%) improves piezoelectric property and thermal stability simultaneously, due to the stabilization of long-range ferroelectric order. Piezoelectric constant d33 increases from 125 pC/N to 148 pC/N with Fe amount of 3.0%, and then decreases. The depolarization temperature Td is promoted continuously with Fe addition, from 76 °C for the undoped sample to 118 °C for the sample with Fe amount of 5.0%. It is proposed that the piezoelectric property and thermal stability can be simultaneously improved by stabilizing the long-range ferroelectric order in Bi1/2Na1/2TiO3-based systems with obvious relaxor character. This work provides a new insight into the improvement of Bi1/2Na1/2TiO3-based lead-free piezoelectric ceramics.  相似文献

In this report, the effects of the calcination temperature of (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 (KNN) powder on the sintering and piezoelectric properties of KNN ceramics have been investigated. KNN powders are synthesized via the solid-state approach. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction characterizations indicate that the incomplete reaction at 700 °C and 750 °C calcination results in the compositional inhomogeneity of the K-rich and Na-rich phases while the orthorhombic single phase is obtained after calcination at 900 °C. During the sintering, the presence of the liquid K-rich phase due to the lower melting point has a significant impact on the densification, the abnormal grain growth and the deteriorated piezoelectric properties. From the standpoint of piezoelectric properties, the optimal calcination temperature obtained for KNN ceramics calcined at this temperature is determined to be 800 °C, with piezoelectric constant d33=128.3 pC/N, planar electromechanical coupling coefficient kp=32.2%, mechanical quality factor Qm=88, and dielectric loss tan δ=2.1%.  相似文献

Relaxor ferroelectric (FE) materials have received increasing attention owing to their great potentials for energy-storage applications, especially for the ones with high energy-storage density, efficiency and thermal stability simultaneously. A novel lead-free [(Na0.5K0.5)0.97-xLi0.03](Nb0.94-xSb0.06)O3-xBi(Zn1/2Zr1/2)O3 (NKLNS-xBZZ) ceramics was developed by a solid-state reaction method. The addition of BZZ has induced obvious dielectric relaxation behavior, as well as improved thermal stability of dielectric response. Furthermore, 0.4 wt.% La2O3 was added into the NKLNS-0.06BZZ ceramic, leading to an increased breakdown strength as a result of the reduction of grain size, improvement of bulk resistivity and decrease of dielectric loss. A large recoverable energy-storage density (∼4.85 J/cm3) and a high efficiency (∼88.2 %) as well as an excellent thermal stability (±12 %, 25–140 °C) were simultaneously obtained, together with a fast discharge rate (t0.9∼112 ns). These results suggest that La2O3 doped NKLNS-0.06BZZ ceramic could become an attractive dielectric material for temperature-stable energy-storage capacitors.  相似文献

Lead-free (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3-based (KNN) piezoceramics featuring a polymorphic phase boundary (PPB) between the orthorhombic and tetragonal phases at room temperature are reported to possess high piezoelectric properties but with inferior cycling stability, while the ceramics with a single tetragonal phase show improved cycling stability but with lower piezoelectric coefficients. In this work, electric biasing in-situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) study is conducted on two KNN-based compositions, which are respectively at and off PPB. Our observations reveal the distinctive domain responses in these two ceramics under cyclic fields. The higher domain wall density in the poled KNN at PPB contributes to the high piezoelectric properties. Upon cycling, however, a new microstructure feature, “domain intersection”, is directly observed in this PPB composition. In comparison, the off-PPB KNN ceramic develops large domains during poling, which experience much less extent of disruption during cycling. Our comparative study provides the basis for understanding the relation between phase composition and piezoelectric performance.  相似文献

The (K0.5Na0.5)0.95Li0.05Nb0.95Bi0.05O3-1mol% Er2O3 transparent ceramics were prepared by a pressureless sintering method. The fabricated transparent ceramics not only exhibit high optical transmittance (85.3%) due to dense microstructure (nanoscale size grains), but also show the photochromism-induced light scattering and reversible upconversion (UC)-switching properties by visible light irradiation. Upon 407 nm light irradiation, the optical transmittance intensity is significantly decreased, showing a strong light scattering (ΔAbs = 28.3%). The light scatting degree can be quantitatively reflected by Er3+ ion UC emission, and could be recovered to its initial optical transmittance based on photochromic reactions. Meanwhile, the transparent ceramic is found to maintain good energy storage properties with higher W (5.87 J/cm3) and Wrec (1.96 J/cm3) under a higher electric field of 260 kV/cm. These results suggest that Er3+ doped (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 transparent ceramics are promising for the modulation of light scattering and the design of photoelectric multifunction devices.  相似文献

Piezoelectric energy harvesting is the most widely investigated technology for renewable energy applications. In this work, (1-x)(Na0.5K0.5)NbO3-xLiSbO3 piezoelectric ceramics were prepared through conventional mixed oxide fabrication methods with different sintering temperatures. Although the (Na0.5K0.5)NbO3 piezoelectric material is representative among the lead-free ceramics, it is difficult to densify by typical sintering techniques owing to its easy evaporation properties of potassium (K+) and sodium ion (Na+). Hence, lithium (Li+) and antimony ion (Sb5+) were used for the partial substitution of (Na0.5K0.5)NbO3. With the optimized sintering temperature, Li+ and Sb5+ are expected to be crucial in increasing the density and enhance the piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties. In this study, the phase, microstructure, and dielectric and electrical properties of (1-x)(Na0.5K0.5)NbO3-xLiSbO3 ceramics depending on the sintering temperature is examined by employing X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, impedance analyzer, and mechanical force system for energy harvesting.  相似文献
