Conventional super-efficiency data envelopment analysis (DEA) models require the exact information of inputs or outputs. However, in many real world applications this simple assumption does not hold. Stochastic super-efficiency is one of recent methods which could handle uncertainty in data. Stochastic super-efficiency DEA models are normally formulated based on chance constraint programming. The method is used to estimate the efficiency of various decision making units (DMUs). In stochastic chance constraint super-efficiency DEA, the distinction of probability distribution function for input/output data is difficult and also, in several cases, there is not enough data for estimating of distribution function. We present a new method which incorporates the robust counterpart of super-efficiency DEA. The perturbation and uncertainty in data is assumed as ellipsoidal set and the robust super-efficiency DEA model is extended. The implementation of the proposed method of this paper is applied for ranking different gas companies in Iran.  相似文献

Crisp input and output data are fundamentally indispensable in traditional data envelopment analysis (DEA). However, the input and output data in real-world problems are often imprecise or ambiguous. Some researchers have proposed interval DEA (IDEA) and fuzzy DEA (FDEA) to deal with imprecise and ambiguous data in DEA. Nevertheless, many real-life problems use linguistic data that cannot be used as interval data and a large number of input variables in fuzzy logic could result in a significant number of rules that are needed to specify a dynamic model. In this paper, we propose an adaptation of the standard DEA under conditions of uncertainty. The proposed approach is based on a robust optimization model in which the input and output parameters are constrained to be within an uncertainty set with additional constraints based on the worst case solution with respect to the uncertainty set. Our robust DEA (RDEA) model seeks to maximize efficiency (similar to standard DEA) but under the assumption of a worst case efficiency defied by the uncertainty set and it’s supporting constraint. A Monte-Carlo simulation is used to compute the conformity of the rankings in the RDEA model. The contribution of this paper is fourfold: (1) we consider ambiguous, uncertain and imprecise input and output data in DEA; (2) we address the gap in the imprecise DEA literature for problems not suitable or difficult to model with interval or fuzzy representations; (3) we propose a robust optimization model in which the input and output parameters are constrained to be within an uncertainty set with additional constraints based on the worst case solution with respect to the uncertainty set; and (4) we use Monte-Carlo simulation to specify a range of Gamma in which the rankings of the DMUs occur with high probability.  相似文献

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a data‐driven tool for performance evaluation, measuring decision‐making units (DMUs) and designating them with specific weightings. The standard DEA model typically sets up that decision‐makers (DMs) are wholly rational to select the most favourable weights to obtain the maximum performance score, but does not take into account their attitude toward risk during the assessment. The prospect theory generally matches humans' psychological behaviours. Thus, our study captures the non‐rational behaviours of DMs, performing under risk scenarios, in order to construct a novel common‐weights DEA model that maximizes the total prospect value, which can vary more steeply for losses than for gains, hence obtaining a more realistic common weight scheme. Our proposed model not only generates DMUs, with higher total prospect values, but also greater degrees of satisfaction. The current study shows that the prospect theory can be aptly extended to the DEA research area, supplying a proper guideline for future DEA research.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new methodology for ranking decision making units in data envelopment analysis (DEA). Our approach is a benchmarking method, seeks a common set of weights using a proposed linear programming model and is based on the TOPSIS approach in multiple attribute decision making (MADM). To this end, five artificial or dummy decision making units (DMUs) are defined, the ideal DMU (IDMU), the anti-ideal DMU (ADMU), the right ideal DMU (RIDMU), the left anti-ideal DMU (LADMU) and the average DMU (AVDMU). We form two comprehensive indexes for the AVDMU called the Left Relative Closeness (LRC) and the Right Relative Closeness (RRC) with respect to the RIDMU and LADMU. The LRC and RRC indexes will be used in the new proposed linear programming model to estimate the common set of weights, the new efficiency of DMUs and finally an overall ranking for all the DMUs. The change of the ratio between LRC and RRC indexes is capable to be provoked alternative rankings. One of the best advantages of this model is that we can make a rationale ranking which is demonstrated by the realized correlation analysis. Also, the new proposed efficiency score of the DMUs is close to the efficiency score of the DEA (CCR) methodology. Three numerical examples are provided to illustrate the applicability of the new approach and the effectiveness of the new approach in DEA ranking in comparison with other conventional ranking methods. Also, an "error" analysis proves the robustness of the proposed methodology.  相似文献

One of the drawbacks of the data envelopment analysis (DEA) is the problem of lack of discrimination among efficient decision making units (DMUs) and hence yielding many numbers of DMUs as efficient. The main purpose of this study is to overcome this inability. In the case in which the minimization of the coefficient of variation (CV) for input–output weights is added to the DEA model, more reasonable and more homogeneous input–output weights are obtained. For this new proposed model based on the CV it is observed that the number of efficient DMUs is reduced, improving the discrimination power. When this new approach is applied to two well-known examples in the literature, and a real-world data of OECD countries, it has been seen that the new model yielded a more balanced dispersion of input–output weights and reduced the number of efficient DMUs. In addition, the applicability of the new model is tested by a simulation study.  相似文献

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) as introduced by Charnes, Cooper, and Rhodes (1978) is a linear programming technique that has widely been used to evaluate the relative efficiency of a set of homogenous decision making units (DMUs). In many real applications, the input-output variables cannot be precisely measured. This is particularly important in assessing efficiency of DMUs using DEA, since the efficiency score of inefficient DMUs are very sensitive to possible data errors. Hence, several approaches have been proposed to deal with imprecise data. Perhaps the most popular fuzzy DEA model is based on α-cut. One drawback of the α-cut approach is that it cannot include all information about uncertainty. This paper aims to introduce an alternative linear programming model that can include some uncertainty information from the intervals within the α-cut approach. We introduce the concept of “local α-level” to develop a multi-objective linear programming to measure the efficiency of DMUs under uncertainty. An example is given to illustrate the use of this method.  相似文献

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a methodology for measuring the relative efficiency of decision making units (DMUs) consuming the same types of inputs and producing the same types of outputs. This paper studies the DEA models with type-2 data variations. In order to deal with the existed type-2 fuzziness, we propose the mean reduction methods for type-2 fuzzy variables. Based on the mean reductions of the type-2 fuzzy inputs and outputs, we formulate a new class of fuzzy generalized expectation DEA models. When the inputs and outputs are mutually independent type-2 triangular fuzzy variables, we discuss the equivalent parametric forms for the constraints and the generalized expectation objective, where the parameters characterize the degree of uncertainty of the type-2 fuzzy coefficients so that the information cannot be lost via our reduction method. For any given parameters, the proposed model becomes nonlinear programming, which can be solved by standard optimization solvers. To illustrate the modeling idea and the efficiency of the proposed DEA model, we provide one numerical example.  相似文献

Existing methods for generating common weights in data envelopment analysis (DEA) are either very complicated or unable to produce a full ranking for decision making units (DMUs). This paper proposes a new methodology based on regression analysis to seek a common set of weights that are easy to estimate and can produce a full ranking for DMUs. The DEA efficiencies obtained with the most favorable weights to each DMU are treated as the target efficiencies of DMUs and are best fitted with the efficiencies determined by common weights. Two new nonlinear regression models are constructed to optimally estimate the common weights. Four numerical examples are examined using the developed new models to test their discrimination power and illustrate their potential applications in fully ranking DMUs. Comparisons with a similar compromise approach for generating common weights are also discussed.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the problem of how to divide a fixed cost as a complement to an original input among decision‐making units (DMUs) equitably. Using the data envelopment analysis (DEA) technique, this paper concerns the problem from the perspective of efficiency analysis. It is found that not all DMUs can become efficient under common weights if a low enough fixed cost is assigned. Therefore, the global modified additive DEA (MAD) model is introduced. By optimizing the global MAD‐efficiency, a new allocation method and the corresponding algorithm to ensure the uniqueness of the allocation result is designed. The proposed method can be used under both constant returns to scale and variable returns to scale for nonnegative data; it is suitable for the situation where the costs play a great role in the production of DMUs. Numerical results show the validity and advantages of our method.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a DEA approach aimed at deriving a common set of weights (CSW) to be used to the ranking of decision making units (DMUs). The idea of this approach is to minimize the deviations of the CSW from the DEA profiles of weights without zeros of the efficient DMUs. This minimization reduces in particular the differences between the DEA profiles of weights that are chosen, so the CSW proposed is a representative summary of such DEA weights profiles. We use several norms to the measurement of such differences. As a result, the CSWs derived are actually different summaries of the chosen DEA profiles of weights like their average profile of their median profile. This approach is illustrated with an application to the ranking of professional tennis players.  相似文献

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a mathematical programming technique that is frequently used for measuring and benchmarking efficiency of the homogenous decision‐making units (DMUs). This paper proposes a new use of DEA for customers scoring and particularly their direct mailing modelling. Moreover, because DEA models suffer from some weaknesses, that is, unrealistic weighting scheme of the inputs and outputs and incomplete ranking among efficient DMUs, the present paper compares different ways of solving these problems and concludes that common set of weights method, as a result of some advantages, outperforms other procedures.  相似文献

This research introduces a new type of data envelopment analysis (DEA) model termed the optimal system design (OSD) DEA model. Conventional DEA models evaluate DMUs’ performances given their known input and output data. The OSD DEA models take this one step further. They optimally design a DMU’s resource allocation in terms of profit maximization given the DMU’s total available budget. The need to design optimal systems is quite common and is sometimes necessary in practice. In actual fact, this study demonstrates that through the OSD DEA models, we can provide DMUs with more information than optimal portfolios of resources such as optimal budgets and budget congestion, i.e., the more the budget is consumed, the less the maximal profit. The proposed OSD DEA models are linear programs, and thus can be solved by the standard LP solvers to obtain DMUs’ optimal designs. However, to derive the DMUs’ corresponding optimal budgets, and to verify if the DMUs provide evidence of budget congestion, we need to modify the solvers, which may not be trivial. Therefore, this study exploits the special structures of the models to develop a simple solution method that can directly not only derive both a DMU’s optimal design and optimal budget, but can also check for the existence of budget congestion.  相似文献

In this paper, the cross efficiency evaluation method, regarded as a DEA extension tool, is firstly reviewed for its utilization in identifying the Decision Making Unit (DMU) with the best practice and ranking the DMUs by their respective cross-efficiency scores. However, we then point out that the main drawback of the method lies in non-uniqueness of cross-efficiency scores resulted from the presence of alternate optima in traditional DEA models, obviously making it become less effective. Aiming at the research gap, a weight-balanced DEA model is proposed to lessen large differences in weighted data (weighted inputs and weighted outputs) and to effectively reduce the number of zero weights for inputs and outputs. Finally, we use two examples of the literature to illustrate the performance of this approach and discuss some issues of interest regarding the choosing of weights in cross-efficiency evaluations.  相似文献

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) has been a very popular method for measuring and benchmarking relative efficiency of peer decision making units (DMUs) with multiple input and outputs. Beside of its popularity, DEA has some drawbacks such as unrealistic input–output weights and lack of discrimination among efficient DMUs. In this study, two new models based on a multi-criteria data envelopment analysis (MCDEA) are developed to moderate the homogeneity of weights distribution by using goal programming (GP). These goal programming data envelopment analysis models, GPDEA-CCR and GPDEA-BCC, also improve the discrimination power of DEA.  相似文献

The paper presents a novel cross-efficiency fuzzy Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique for evaluating different elements (Decision Making Units or DMUs) under uncertainty. In order to evaluate the performance of several DMUs while dealing with uncertain input and output data, the presented technique employs triangular fuzzy numbers. A fuzzy triangular efficiency is associated to each DMU through a cross evaluation obtained by a compromise between suitably chosen objectives. Results are then defuzzified to provide a ranking of the DMUs. The proposed method is applied to the performance evaluation of healthcare systems in a region of Southern Italy. The DMU data uncertainty derives from ongoing reforms and the reported assessment is conducted firstly in order to evaluate and rank the efficiency of the considered healthcare systems, and subsequently to assess the evolution of the performance of one of the most affected among these DMUs by the reform plans. The case study demonstrates the model ease of application, its discriminative power among DMUs when compared to a more classical fuzzy DEA approach, and the usefulness in planning and validating targeted reforms in the case of healthcare systems.  相似文献

Relative efficiency of decision‐making units (DMUs) is assessed by classical data envelopment analysis (DEA) models. DEA is a popular technique for efficiency evaluation. There might be a couple of efficient DMUs. Classical DEA models cannot fully rank efficient DMUs. In this paper, a novel technique for fully ranking all DMUs based on changing reference set using a single virtual inefficient DMU is proposed. To this end, the first concept of virtual DMU is defined as average of all inefficient DMUs. Virtual DMU is a proxy of all inefficient DMUs. This new method proposes a new ranking method that takes into account impact of efficient DMUs on virtual DMU and impact of efficient DMUs on influences of other efficient DMUs. A case study is given to show applicability of the proposed approach.  相似文献

One of the important concepts of data envelopment analysis (DEA) is congestion. A decision making unit (DMU) has congestion if an increase (decrease) in one or more input(s) of the DMU leads to a decrease (increase) in one or more its output(s). The drawback of all existing congestion DEA approaches is that they are applicable only to technologies specified by non-negative data, whereas in the real world, it may exist negative data, too. Moreover, specifying the strongly and weakly most congested DMUs is a very important issue for decision makers, however, there is no study on specifying these DMUs in DEA. These two facts are motivations for creating this current study. Hence, in this research, we first introduce a DEA model to determine candidate DMUs for having congestion and then, a DEA approach is presented to detect congestion status of these DMUs. Likewise, we propose two integrated mixed integer programming (MIP)-DEA models to specify the strongly and weakly most congested DMUs. Note that the proposed approach permits the inputs and outputs that can take both negative and non-negative magnitudes. Also, a ranking DEA approach is introduced to rank the specified congested DMUs and identify the least congested DMU. Finally, a numerical example and an empirical application are presented to highlight the purpose of this research.  相似文献

The analytical hierarchical process/data envelopment analysis (AHP/DEA) methodology for ranking decision‐making units (DMUs) has some problems: it illogically compares two DMUs in a DEA model; it is not compatible with DEA ranking in the case of multiple inputs/multiple outputs; and it leads to weak discrimination in cases where the number of inputs and outputs is large. In this paper, we propose a new two‐stage AHP/DEA methodology for ranking DMUs that removes these problems. In the first stage, we create a pairwise comparison matrix different from AHP/DEA methodology; the second stage is the same as AHP/DEA methodology. Numerical examples are presented in the paper to illustrate the advantages of the new AHP/DEA methodology.  相似文献

One of the primary concerns on target setting the electricity distribution companies is the uncertainty on input/output data. In this paper, an interactive robust data envelopment analysis (IRDEA) model is proposed to determine the input and output target values of electricity distribution companies with considering the existence perturbation in data. Target setting is implemented with the uncertain data and the decision maker (DM) can search the envelop frontier and find the targets based on his preference. In order to search the envelop frontier, the paper combine the DEA and multi-objective linear programming method such as STEM. The proposed method of this paper is capable of handling uncertainty in data and finding the target values according to the DM’s preferences. To illustrate ability the proposed model, a numerical example is solved. Also, the input and output target values for some of the electricity distribution companies in Iran are reported. The results indicate that the IRDEA model is suitable for target setting based on DM’s preferences and with considering uncertain data.  相似文献
