In this work, a predictive control framework is proposed for the constrained stabilization of switched nonlinear systems that transit between their constituent modes at prescribed switching times. The main idea is to design a Lyapunov-based predictive controller for each constituent mode in which the switched system operates and incorporate constraints in the predictive controller design which upon satisfaction ensure that the prescribed transitions between the modes occur in a way that guarantees stability of the switched closed-loop system. This is achieved as follows: For each constituent mode, a Lyapunov-based model predictive controller (MPC) is designed, and an analytic bounded controller, using the same Lyapunov function, is used to explicitly characterize a set of initial conditions for which the MPC, irrespective of the controller parameters, is guaranteed to be feasible, and hence stabilizing. Then, constraints are incorporated in the MPC design which, upon satisfaction, ensure that: 1) the state of the closed-loop system, at the time of the transition, resides in the stability region of the mode that the system is switched into, and 2) the Lyapunov function for each mode is nonincreasing wherever the mode is reactivated, thereby guaranteeing stability. The proposed control method is demonstrated through application to a chemical process example.  相似文献

High-speed applications impose a hard real-time constraint on the solution of a model predictive control (MPC) problem, which generally prevents the computation of the optimal control input. As a result, in most MPC implementations guarantees on feasibility and stability are sacrificed in order to achieve a real-time setting. In this paper we develop a real-time MPC approach for linear systems that provides these guarantees for arbitrary time constraints, allowing one to trade off computation time vs. performance. Stability is guaranteed by means of a constraint, enforcing that the resulting suboptimal MPC cost is a Lyapunov function. The key is then to guarantee feasibility in real-time, which is achieved by the proposed algorithm through a warm-starting technique in combination with robust MPC design. We address both regulation and tracking of piecewise constant references. As a main contribution of this paper, a new warm-start procedure together with a Lyapunov function for real-time tracking is presented. In addition to providing strong theoretical guarantees, the proposed method can be implemented at high sampling rates. Simulation examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the real-time scheme and show that computation times in the millisecond range can be achieved.  相似文献

This article addresses the problem of designing a robust output feedback model predictive control (MPC) with input constraints, which ensures a parameter-dependent quadratic stability and guaranteed cost for the case of linear polytopic systems. A new heuristic method is introduced to guarantee input constraints for the MPC. To reject disturbances and maintain the process at the optimal operating conditions or setpoints, the integrator is added to the controller design procedure. Finally, some numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

A fundamental question about model predictive control (MPC) is its robustness to model uncertainty. In this paper, we present a robust constrained output feedback MPC algorithm that can stabilize plants with both polytopic uncertainty and norm-bound uncertainty. The design procedure involves off-line design of a robust constrained state feedback MPC law and a state estimator using linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Since we employ an off-line approach for the controller design which gives a sequence of explicit control laws, we are able to analyze the robust stabilizability of the combined control laws and estimator, and by adjusting the design parameters, guarantee robust stability of the closed-loop system in the presence of constraints. The algorithm is illustrated with two examples.  相似文献

The problem of controlling a high-dimensional linear system subject to hard input and state constraints using model predictive control is considered. Applying model predictive control to high-dimensional systems typically leads to a prohibitive computational complexity. Therefore, reduced order models are employed in many applications. This introduces an approximation error which may deteriorate the closed loop behavior and may even lead to instability. We propose a novel model predictive control scheme using a reduced order model for prediction in combination with an error bounding system. We employ the explicit time and input dependent bound on the model order reduction error to achieve design conditions for constraint fulfillment, recursive feasibility and asymptotic stability for the closed loop of the model predictive controller when applied to the high-dimensional system. Moreover, for a special choice of design parameters, we establish local optimality of the proposed model predictive control scheme. The proposed MPC approach is assessed via examples demonstrating that a good trade-off between computational efficiency and conservatism can be achieved while guaranteeing constraint satisfaction and asymptotic stability.  相似文献

An analytical MPC controller was designed for force control of a single-rod electrohydraulic actuator. The controller based on a difference equation uses short control horizon. The constraints on both input and output variables are taken into consideration by the controller. The mechanism of output constraints satisfaction uses output prediction and makes possible to constrain the output values many sampling instants ahead. Thus, it extends capabilities of the analytical MPC controllers to the field reserved so far for much more computationally expensive numerical MPC algorithms. Results of real life experiments illustrate efficiency of the proposed controller. The results also show that the MPC controller has better tracking performance than conventional P and PI controllers. The MPC controller with the constraint handling mechanisms, though relatively simple, offers very good performance. As the design process is detailed, it is possible to relatively easy adapt the proposed approach to other control plants.  相似文献

In this work, a hybrid control scheme, uniting bounded control with model predictive control (MPC), is proposed for the stabilization of linear time-invariant systems with input constraints. The scheme is predicated upon the idea of switching between a model predictive controller, that minimizes a given performance objective subject to constraints, and a bounded controller, for which the region of constrained closed-loop stability is explicitly characterized. Switching laws, implemented by a logic-based supervisor that constantly monitors the plant, are derived to orchestrate the transition between the two controllers in a way that safeguards against any possible instability or infeasibility under MPC, reconciles the stability and optimality properties of both controllers, and guarantees asymptotic closed-loop stability for all initial conditions within the stability region of the bounded controller. The hybrid control scheme is shown to provide, irrespective of the chosen MPC formulation, a safety net for the practical implementation of MPC, for open-loop unstable plants, by providing a priori knowledge, through off-line computations, of a large set of initial conditions for which closed-loop stability is guaranteed. The implementation of the proposed approach is illustrated, through numerical simulations, for an exponentially unstable linear system.  相似文献

Model predictive control (MPC) is one of the few techniques which is able to handle constraints on both state and input of the plant. The admissible evolution and asymptotic convergence of the closed-loop system is ensured by means of suitable choice of the terminal cost and terminal constraint. However, most of the existing results on MPC are designed for a regulation problem. If the desired steady-state changes, the MPC controller must be redesigned to guarantee the feasibility of the optimisation problem, the admissible evolution as well as the asymptotic stability. Recently, a novel MPC has been proposed to ensure the feasibility of the optimisation problem, constraints satisfaction and asymptotic evolution of the system to any admissible target steady-state. A drawback of this controller is the loss of a desirable property of the MPC controllers: the local optimality property. In this article, a novel formulation of the MPC for tracking is proposed aimed to recover the optimality property maintaining all the properties of the original formulation.  相似文献

This paper studies the control of distributed storage networks with guarantees of constraints satisfaction and asymptotic stability. We consider two problems: network capacity maximization and network balancing. In the first part of the paper we describe the two problems, highlight their importance in a wide number of engineering applications, and compare them by analyzing the properties of their solutions. In the second part we present algorithms for solving both problems by using a convex one-step model predictive controller (MPC) which guarantees persistent state and flow constraints satisfaction. We present simple conditions which link the network topology, the MPC weights and the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system. A numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach.  相似文献

In this work, we consider nonlinear systems with input constraints and uncertain variables, and develop a robust hybrid predictive control structure that provides a safety net for the implementation of any model predictive control (MPC) formulation, designed with or without taking uncertainty into account. The key idea is to use a Lyapunov-based bounded robust controller, for which an explicit characterization of the region of robust closed-loop stability can be obtained, to provide a stability region within which any available MPC formulation can be implemented. This is achieved by devising a set of switching laws that orchestrate switching between MPC and the bounded robust controller in a way that exploits the performance of MPC whenever possible, while using the bounded controller as a fall-back controller that can be switched in at any time to maintain robust closed-loop stability in the event that the predictive controller fails to yield a control move (due, e.g., to computational difficulties in the optimization or infeasibility) or leads to instability (due, e.g., to inappropriate penalties and/or horizon length in the objective function). The implementation and efficacy of the robust hybrid predictive control structure are demonstrated through simulations using a chemical process example.  相似文献

Computational simplicity is one of the most important aspects to take into account in robust model predictive control (MPC). In dead-time processes, it is common to use an augmented state-space representation in order to apply robust MPC strategies but, this procedure may affect computational aspects. In this paper, explicit dead-time compensation will be used to avoid augmented representation. This technique will be analyzed in terms of robust stability and constraint satisfaction for discrete-time linear systems. The results of this discussion will be applied to a robust tube-based MPC strategy which is able to guarantee robust stability and constraint satisfaction of a dead-time system by considering a prediction model without dead-time. Moreover, taking advantage of the proposed scheme, the robust MPC will be particularized for first-order plus dead-time models which simplifies significantly controller synthesis. The proposed dead-time compensation method will be applied to different robust MPC strategies in two case studies: (i) a simulated quadruple-tank system, and (ii) an experimental scaled laboratory heater process.  相似文献

This paper proposes a discrete-time model predictive control (MPC) scheme combined with an adaptive mechanism. To this end, first, an adaptive parameter estimation algorithm suitable for MPC is proposed, which uses the available input and output signals to estimate the unknown system parameters. It enables the prediction of a monotonically decreasing worst-case estimation error bound over the prediction horizon of MPC. These distinctive features allow for future model improvement to be explicitly considered in MPC. Thus, a less conservative adaptive-type MPC controller can be developed based on the proposed estimation method. Second, we show how the discrete-time adaptive-type state-feedback MPC controller is constructed by combining the on-line parameter estimation scheme with a modified robust MPC method based on the comparison model. The developed MPC controller guarantees feasibility and stability of the closed-loop system theoretically in the presence of input and state constraints. A numerical example is given to demonstrate its effectiveness.  相似文献

In this work, synthesis of robust distributed model predictive control (MPC) is presented for a class of linear systems subject to structured time-varying uncertainties. By decomposing a global system into smaller dimensional subsystems, a set of distributed MPC controllers, instead of a centralised controller, are designed. To ensure the robust stability of the closed-loop system with respect to model uncertainties, distributed state feedback laws are obtained by solving a min–max optimisation problem. The design of robust distributed MPC is then transformed into solving a minimisation optimisation problem with linear matrix inequality constraints. An iterative online algorithm with adjustable maximum iteration is proposed to coordinate the distributed controllers to achieve a global performance. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed robust distributed MPC algorithm.  相似文献

Model predictive control (MPC) for Markovian jump linear systems with probabilistic constraints has received much attention in recent years. However, in existing results, the disturbance is usually assumed with infinite support, which is not considered reasonable in real applications. Thus, by considering random additive disturbance with finite support, this paper is devoted to a systematic approach to stochastic MPC for Markovian jump linear systems with probabilistic constraints. The adopted MPC law is parameterized by a mode‐dependent feedback control law superimposed with a perturbation generated by a dynamic controller. Probabilistic constraints can be guaranteed by confining the augmented system state to a maximal admissible set. Then, the MPC algorithm is given in the form of linearly constrained quadratic programming problems by optimizing the infinite sum of derivation of the stage cost from its steady‐state value. The proposed algorithm is proved to be recursively feasible and to guarantee constraints satisfaction, and the closed‐loop long‐run average cost is not more than that of the unconstrained closed‐loop system with static feedback. Finally, when adopting the optimal feedback gains in the predictive control law, the resulting MPC algorithm has been proved to converge in the mean square sense to the optimal control. A numerical example is given to verify the efficiency of the proposed results.  相似文献

In spite of its easy implementation, ability to handle constraints and nonlinearities, etc., model predictive control (MPC) does have drawbacks including tuning difficulties. In this paper, we propose a refinement to the basic MPC strategy by incorporating a tuning parameter such that one can move smoothly from an existing controller to a new MPC strategy. Each change of this tuning parameter leads to a new stabilising control law, therefore, allowing one to gradually move from an existing control law to a new and better one. For the infinite horizon case without constraints and for the general case with state and input constraints, stability results are established. We also examine the practical applicability of the proposed approach by employing it in the nominal prediction model of the tube-based output feedback robust MPC method. The merits of the proposed method are illustrated by examples.  相似文献

This paper considers stabilization of discrete-time linear systems, where network exists for transmitting the sensor and controller information, and arbitrary bounded packet loss occurs in the sensor–controller link and the controller–actuator link. The stabilization of this system is transformed into the robust stabilization of a set of systems. The stability result for this system is specially applied on model predictive control (MPC) that explicitly considers the satisfaction of input and state constraints. Two synthesis approaches of MPC are presented, one parameterizing the infinite horizon control moves into a single state feedback law, the other into a free control move followed by the single state feedback law. Two simulation examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed techniques.  相似文献

A method is proposed for on-line reconfiguration of the terminal constraint used to provide theoretical nominal stability guarantees in linear model predictive control (MPC). By parameterising the terminal constraint, its complete reconstruction is avoided when input constraints are modified to accommodate faults. To enlarge the region of feasibility of the terminal control law for a certain class of input faults with redundantly actuated plants, the linear terminal controller is defined in terms of virtual commands. A suitable terminal cost weighting for the reconfigurable MPC is obtained by means of an upper bound on the cost for all feasible realisations of the virtual commands from the terminal controller. Conditions are proposed that guarantee feasibility recovery for a defined subset of faults. The proposed method is demonstrated by means of a numerical example.  相似文献
