In this paper,the principle of Pulsed Magnetic Field(PMF) force was analyzed through mathematical analyses.By theoretical analysis and calculation,the results show that the great electromagnetic force is made in the melt under pulsed magnetic field,as well as changing its direction in different places of melt at the same time.It enforces the crystallizing nucleus and brittle crystallite to fragment in the solidification processing.From the point of view,one of the main factors of grain refinement is that the fragmentations occur under a pulsed magnetic field by preliminary judgement. The feasibility of application in the metallurgical industry under PMF was discussed through comparing the results of grain refinement under EMS.According to the theoretic calculation,the power consumption under EMS is 5 -8 times the amount under PMF,when both of magnetic flux density B are 0.07T.That is to say,the better effect on grain refining can be obtained under PMF,compared with EMS,even in the lower power consumption.The solidification experiments of Sn-20%Pb alloy are conducted under the same experimental conditions that the magnetic intensity is 0.07T in the center of the crucible,it also shows that PMF has a better effect on grain refining than EMS. Combined with the continuous casting process,the influence of pulsed parameters and the metallurgical effects with applying PMF at different solidification stages was investigated.There are different grain refining effects under PMF in different solidification stages,and there are different grain refining effects under PMF in different PMF parameters.For the Sn-20%Pb alloy or silicon steel,it is more effective during the initial stage,in which the pulse frequency is 5Hz.For the Sn-20%Pb alloy,the average grain size ofβphase is the smallest,when applying the PMF during the temperature of melt decreasing from 201℃to 184℃.Further investigation of the specified technique parameters for industrial applications are required.  相似文献

The effect of pulsed photon irradiation on the structure and elastic properties of an amorphous Fe-P-Nb alloy is studied. The extent of necrosis is the main determining factor in the outcome of osteonecrosis of the femoral head and is best measured by MRI. Using statistical analyses, we have evaluated the accuracy and repeatability of seven different methods of measuring the extent of necrosis, of which three demonstrate good or acceptable accuracy. For the general observer their repeatability is poor; only for experienced observers were they reasonable. We conclude that within an institution or for personal use, the accuracy of some methods is acceptable, and repeatability reasonable. None is appropriate for international use.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to assess the repeatability of the program-usage in everyday listening situations. A blind field test was used. The Widex Quattro (WQ) system served as a model for multiple memory hearing aids (linear amplification) Eleven experienced WQ wearers (41-73 years) with mild to moderate, recruiting, cochlear hearing losses participated. Eight of them regularly used all four available programs (all used at least three programs). The participants stated in duplicate the best hearing aid program in 15 real-world listening situations. The percentage of subjects who selected identical programs (repeatability) surpassed the level corresponding to pure guess under almost all listening conditions (14). Maximum repeatability (100%) was achieved by the five subjects who visited an industrial environment twice. Interestingly, the repeatability exceeded 70% in demanding listening situations such as: party, conversation in group, etc. Support for this high repeatability was given by a distinct improvement in the mean aided speech-to-noise threshold (3.7 dB, p < 0.005).  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: To examine strain variation amongst Australian isolates of Mycobacterium paratuberculosis. DESIGN: Pulsed field gel electrophoresis was optimised for differentiation of M paratuberculosis strains, and this typing technique was then applied to a collection of Australian isolates. PROCEDURE: DNAs from 35 Australian isolates of M paratuberculosis and a UK reference strain were digested with one or other of three restriction endonucleases. The banding patterns obtained after pulsed field gel electrophoresis of the DNA fragments were compared. RESULTS: The Australian isolates were divided into two groups on the basis of their DNA banding pattern. Both were different from the UK reference strain. Seven isolates from cattle in Victoria and the Northern Territory had the same pattern as five isolates from alpacas in Victoria and Western Australia. Another 20 isolates from cattle in Victoria, Western Australia and the Northern Territory had the same pattern as isolates from two sheep and a goat in New South Wales. CONCLUSION: Pulsed field gel electrophoresis was a useful tool for strain typing of M paratuberculosis, and could be used to study the transmission of strains in Australia.  相似文献

Management of the neuropathic bowel is one of the major issues in the treatment of patients with severe spinal cord injury (SCI). Pulsed irrigation evacuation (PIE) has been evaluated in several small studies for the clearing of fecal impactions in patients with a neuropathic bowel. We evaluated our experience with 398 PIE procedures performed on inpatients and outpatients at our facility. It has proven to be both safe and effective in a wide variety of patients with this disorder, and is a useful addition to traditional methods in the management of the neuropathic bowel.  相似文献

Pulsed xenon chloride excimer and holmium laser-tissue interaction is primarily based on tissue water vaporization. Consequently, each ablative laser pulse produces a rapidly expanding and imploding vapour bubble in blood or the target tissue. In experimental studies, explosive water vaporization is the major mechanical cause of observed tissue dissections. By reduction of the induced bubble volume, a reduction in experimentally and clinically observed dissections after coronary excimer laser angioplasty is to be expected. This reduction of mechanical damage, however, in combination with efficient and substantial plaque debulking is the major challenge in the development of laser angioplasty.  相似文献

Sputum induced by inhalation of nebulized hypertonic saline is increasingly used to monitor airways inflammation in asthma. The aim of this study was to assess the repeatability of measuring cellular and soluble markers of inflammation in whole sputum samples as obtained by sputum induction in patients both with mild and moderate-to-severe asthma. Twelve patients with mild, atopic asthma without inhaled steroid treatment and nine patients with moderate-to-severe, atopic asthma treated with inhaled steroids were studied on two separate days at least 2 days apart. Whole sputum samples, induced by inhalation of hypertonic (4.5%) saline, were homogenized, and analysed for differential cell counts and for concentrations of albumin, fibrinogen, interleukin-8 (IL-8), and eosinophil cationic protein (ECP). Repeatability was expressed as intraclass correlation coefficient (Ri), and as coefficient of repeatability (CR) in percentage cells or in doubling concentration. Samples from two patients with mild asthma contained more than 80% squamous cells and were excluded from analysis. The repeatability for cell differential counts in both groups combined was: for neutrophils, Ri = 0.57 and CR = 31.0; for eosinophils, Ri = 0.85 and CR = 12.4; and for lymphocytes, Ri = 0.76 and CR = 6.9. The repeatability of the fluid phase measurements was: for albumin, Ri = 0.71 and CR = 3.2; for fibrinogen, Ri = 0.88 and CR = 2.8; for IL-8, Ri = 0.66 and CR = 2.2; and for ECP, Ri = 0.82 and CR = 1.1. We conclude that the repeatability of cellular and soluble markers of inflammation in induced sputum from patients with mild and moderate-to-severe asthma is satisfactory. Hence, induced sputum, processed by using the whole expectorated sample, seems to be a valuable method to monitor airway inflammation in asthma.  相似文献

We wanted to determine the long-term effects of pulsed irrigation evacuation on the colon. Sigmoidoscopy/colonoscopy was performed on four patients with spinal cord injuries who have used this procedure an average of 3.5 times weekly, for an average of 6.7 years. No gross or microscopic abnormalities were identified in any of these individuals. Impactions as well as other complaints were markedly diminished or absent following the initiation of this therapy. Pulsed irrigation evacuation is a safe and effective method for long-term treatment of chronic neurogenic bowel.  相似文献

A new method for diagnosing and assessing valvular heart disease is proposed, based on the analysis of transvalvular, pulmonary artery and aortic flow velocity curves recorded transcutaneously using Pulsed Doppler-echography. The normal tracings are presented and anomalies of the curves disclosed in 97 patients are analysed. It is concluded that this new, simple, non-invasive and repetable method is useful for diagnosing and assessing valvular heart disease, within limitations which are discussed.  相似文献

PURPOSE: Color Doppler imaging (CDI) is a relatively new technique that allows quantification of blood flow velocity in orbital and ocular vasculature. Despite the numerous clinical studies that have used CDI, repeatability of this technique and agreement between observers have not been documented. METHODS: The authors performed a prospective investigation of the repeatability and agreement between observers on ophthalmic artery blood flow velocity measurements in 35 patients (35 eyes). RESULTS: Results on the estimated error of measurement (variability between repeated readings on the same subject) indicate good repeatability of the measurements; in fact, the measurement variances were only 5.6% for the peak systolic velocity, 11.4% for the end diastolic velocity, and 6.2% for the mean envelope velocity. The statistical analysis of repeatability showed a very narrow 95% confidence interval for both observers. The measurement of agreement between the two observers demonstrated the existence of a good concordance of the measurements taken by each observer on each subject. CONCLUSIONS: Results suggest that CDI is a reliable tool for quantitative assessment of ophthalmic artery blood flow velocity.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the accuracy and repeatability of the widely used comparison method of measuring pupil size. DESIGN: Cross-sectional study. PARTICIPANTS: Fourteen eyes of seven healthy myopic subjects were examined. INTERVENTION: Two examiners made two repeated measures of pupil diameters of 14 eyes using Rosenbaum card comparison pupillometry and infrared pupillometry. Subjects fixated on a distant visual acuity chart, and pupils were measured under three luminance conditions. The agreement and inter-rater repeatability of both methods were determined. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Outcomes were pupil diameters, limits of agreement, and coefficient of repeatability of two examiners. RESULTS: The mean difference between the two techniques ranged from 0.3 to 0.5 mm. The limits of agreement within two standard deviations ranged from 2.4 to 2.8 mm. Coefficient of repeatability ranged from 0.6 to 1.4 mm for infrared pupillometry and 1.0 to 1.2 mm for Rosenbaum pupillometry. Inter-rater repeatability of Rosenbaum pupillometry was consistently pupil diameter biased. Pupil diameters measured with the Rosenbaum method were consistently larger than diameters measured with the infrared technique for both examiners under all luminance conditions. CONCLUSIONS: Results indicate that although the mean difference in techniques was small, the range of the agreement between the Rosenbaum and the infrared techniques was large. The Rosenbaum method consistently overestimated pupil diameters and was subject to inter-rater repeatability bias. Rosenbaum pupillometry may not be appropriate when accurate pupil measurements are required. The results have implications for many clinical trials in ophthalmology, including those evaluating refractive surgery that use Rosenbaum comparison pupillometry.  相似文献

The objective of this paper was to illustrate the dependence of the kappa statistic on the underlying population prevalence of a measured outcome, and the related difficulties in interpreting kappa values for assessing the repeatability of survey data. An example was taken from a test-retest study of the repeatability of a questionnaire administered to dairy producers in Ontario, Canada. Ten producers completed two questionnaires, which contained numerous identical questions. Kappa was used to assess repeatability between the questionnaires for questions with responses which were measured on a dichotomous scale. The magnitude of the kappa statistic is shown to be a function of the prevalence of the trait measured by a question as well as the number of discordant responses.  相似文献

Elucidation of the key role of thrombosis in cardiovascular disease events has arisen considerable interest in hemostatic factors and in the repeatability of their determinations. Data on long-term repeatability has, however, remained scanty. We examined twice 208 men and 265 women in North Karelia, eastern Finland. The baseline examination was a part of the FINRISK 1992 Hemostasis Study and the age-range of participants was between 45-64 years. The re-examination took place three years later in 1995. Both surveys followed the same protocol and were carried out during the same season. Spearman rank correlation coefficients between 1992 and 1995 measurements of fibrinogen, factor VII coagulant activity (FVII:C), factor VII antigen (FVII:Ag), and plasminogen were among men 0.72, 0.77, 0.46 and 0.56, respectively. For total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglycerides and diastolic blood pressure the corresponding coefficients were 0.74, 0.83, 0.66, and 0.54. In women, the coefficient of fibrinogen was lower than in men, 0.62, otherwise the results were similar. Of men belonging to the highest quarter of fibrinogen, FVII:C, FVII:Ag and plasminogen in 1992, 65%, 60%, 53% and 60% belonged to the highest quarter of respective distributions also in 1995. In women, the corresponding proportions were 64%, 65%, 46% and 58%. The modest repeatability of FVII:Ag and plasminogen was mainly due to the high intraindividual variability. However, in comparisons of plasma levels between two groups, relatively small sample sizes seemed to give adequate statistical power to detect possible differences in FVII:Ag and plasminogen. In conclusion, the long-term repeatability of fibrinogen and FVII:C is similar to that of triglycerides and even better than that of diastolic blood pressure, but somewhat lower than the repeatability of total cholesterol. FVII:Ag and plasminogen did not have very good repeatability and more than one measurement of them should be considered if they are used as predictors of cardiovascular disease in prospective studies.  相似文献

Pulsed field gradient (PFG) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and microimaging experiments have been performed to study the diffusion of liquid alkanes into a variety of semicrystalline polyethylene (PE) samples. The results highlight the importance of the crystalline phase in controlling the diffusion process in terms of both the geometric impedance imposed by the presence of impenetrable crystals and their effect on the mobility of the polymer chains comprising the amorphous material through which the penetrants migrate.  相似文献

A review of the literature relating individual differences in field dependence to learning and memory suggests the following conclusions: (a) Field-dependent Ss are dominated by the salient cues in concept attainment problems, whereas field-independent Ss sample more fully from the available cue set. (b) Field-dependent Ss tend to use "spectator" approaches to learning. Whereas field-independent Ss more often use "participant" approaches. (c) Field independence is related to frequency of dream recall. (d) Field dependence is related to the magnitude of stress effects on learning and memory. (e) Field independence is related to performance effectiveness under conditons of intrinsic motivation. (f) Field dependence is related to the effectiveness of negative reinforcement.
