A deterministic assembly technique for single sub-20 nm functional nanoparticles is developed based on nanostructured templates fabricated by hot scanning nanoprobes. With this technique, single nanoparticles including quantum dots, polystyrene fluorescent nanobeads, and gold nanoparticles are successfully assembled into 2D arrays with high yields. Experimental and theoretical analyses show that the key for the high yields is the hot-probe-based template fabrication technique, which creates geometrical nanotraps and modifies their surface energy simultaneously. In addition to single nanoparticle patterning, further experiments demonstrate that this technique is also capable of building complex nanostructures, such as nanoparticle clusters with well-defined shapes and heterogeneously integrated nanostructures consisting of quantum dots and silver nanowires. It opens the door to many important applications.  相似文献

Gold–polymer hybrid nanoparticles attract wide interest as building blocks for the engineering of photonic materials and plasmonic (active) metamaterials with unique optical properties. In particular, the coupling of the localized surface plasmon resonances of individual metal nanostructures in the presence of nanometric gaps can generate highly enhanced and confined electromagnetic fields, which are frequently exploited for metal‐enhanced light–matter interactions. The optical properties of plasmonic structures can be tuned over a wide range of properties by means of their geometry and the size of the inserted nanoparticles as well as by the degree of order upon assembly into 1D, 2D, or 3D structures. Here, the synthesis of silica‐stabilized gold–poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (SiO2‐Au‐PNIPAM) core–satellite superclusters with a narrow size distribution and their incorporation into ordered self‐organized 3D assemblies are reported. Significant alterations of the plasmon resonance are found for different assembled structures as well as strongly enhanced Raman signatures are observed. In a series of experiments, the origin of the highly enhanced signals can be assigned to the interlock areas of adjacent SiO2‐Au‐PNIPAM core–satellite clusters and their application for highly sensitive nanoparticle‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy is demonstrated.  相似文献

Graphene‐based sheets that possess a unique nanostructure and a variety of fascinating properties are appealing as promising nanoscale building blocks of new composites. Herein, graphene oxide sheets are used as the nanoscale substrates for the formation of silver‐nanoparticle films. These silver‐nanoparticle films assembled on graphene oxide sheets are flexible and can form stable suspensions in aqueous solutions. They can also be easily processed, forming macroscopic films with high reflectivity. Raman signals of graphene oxide in such hybrid films are increased by the attached silver nanoparticles, displaying surface‐enhanced Raman scattering activity. The degree of enhancement can be adjusted by varying the quantity of silver nanoparticles on the graphene oxide sheets.  相似文献

Self‐assembled functional nanoarchitectures are employed as important nanoscale building blocks for advanced materials and smart miniature devices to fulfill the increasing needs of high materials usage efficiency, low energy consumption, and high‐performance devices. One‐dimensional (1D) crystalline nanostructures, especially molecule‐composed crystalline nanostructures, attract significant attention due to their fascinating infusion structure and functionality which enables the easy tailoring of organic molecules with excellent carrier mobility and crystal stability. In this review, we discuss the recent progress of 1D crystalline self‐assembled nanostructures of functional molecules, which include both a small molecule‐derived and a polymer‐based crystalline nanostructure. The basic principles of the molecular structure design and the process engineering of 1D crystalline nanostructures are also discussed. The molecular building blocks, self‐assembly structures, and their applications in optical, electrical, and photoelectrical devices are overviewed and we give a brief outlook on crucial issues that need to be addressed in future research endeavors.  相似文献

Magnetic‐plasmonic nanoparticles have received considerable attention for widespread applications. These nanoparticles (NPs) exhibiting surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) activities are developed due to their potential in bio‐sensing applicable in non‐destructive and sensitive analysis with target‐specific separation. However, it is challenging to synthesize these NPs that simultaneously exhibit low remanence, maximized magnetic content, plasmonic coverage with abundant hotspots, and structural uniformity. Here, a method that involves the conjugation of a magnetic template with gold seeds via chemical binding and seed‐mediated growth is proposed, with the objective of obtaining plasmonic nanostructures with abundant hotspots on a magnetic template. To obtain a clean surface for directly functionalizing ligands and enhancing the Raman intensity, an additional growth step of gold (Au) and/or silver (Ag) atoms is proposed after modifying the Raman molecules on the as‐prepared magnetic‐plasmonic nanoparticles. Importantly, one‐sided silver growth occurred in an environment where gold facets are blocked by Raman molecules; otherwise, the gold growth is layer‐by‐layer. Moreover, simultaneous reduction by gold and silver ions allowed for the formation of a uniform bimetallic layer. The enhancement factor of the nanoparticles with a bimetallic layer is approximately 107. The SERS probes functionalized cyclic peptides are employed for targeted cancer‐cell imaging and separation.  相似文献

Metal nanostructures are the main building blocks of metamaterials and plasmonics which show many extraordinary properties not existing in nature. A simple and widely applicable method that can directly pattern metals with silicon molds without the need of resists, using pressures of <4 MPa and temperatures of 25–150 °C is reported. Three‐dimensional structures with smooth and vertical sidewalls, down to sub‐10 nm resolution, are generated in silver and gold films in a single patterning step. Using this nanopatterning scheme, large‐scale vivid images through extraordinary optical transmission and strong surface‐enhanced Raman scattering substrates are realized. Resistless nanoimprinting in metal (RNIM) is a new class of metal patterning that allows plasmonic nanostructures to be fabricated quickly, repeatedly, and at a low‐cost.  相似文献

Freestanding particle bridges with controlled composition and macroscopic robustness are demonstrated by the use of supramolecular nanoparticle assembly. Self‐assembly of nanoparticles, templating, and supramolecular glue infiltration are combined to form stable and ordered three‐dimensional polystyrene particle composites on a polydimethylsiloxane stamp. Freestanding hybrid polystyrene nanoparticle bridges are obtained by transfer printing of the hybrid structures onto topographically patterned substrates via host–guest interactions. The mechanical robustness and rigidity of the particle bridges can be controlled by manipulating the layer‐by‐layer cycles of supramolecular glues of gold nanoparticles and dendrimers. Atomic force microscopy‐based microbending results, in particular the location and force‐dependent deflection behavior, confirm that the particle bridge fulfills the classical supported‐beam characteristics. As estimated from classical beam theory, the bending moduli of the particle bridges vary between 0.8 and 1.1 GPa, depending on the degree of filling by the supramolecular glues. Failure analysis on the particle structure indicates linear elastic behavior and a plastic deformation upon failure.  相似文献

Noble-metal nanoparticles embedded in dielectric matrices are considered to have practical applications in ultrafast all-optical switching devices owing to their enhanced third-order nonlinear susceptibility, especially near the surface-plasmon-resonance (SPR) frequency. Here we present the use of a microreactor approach to the fabrication of a self-organized photosensitive gold nanoparticle chain encapsulated in a dielectric nanowire. Such a hybrid nanowire shows pronounced SPR absorption. More remarkably, a strong wavelength-dependent and reversible photoresponse has been demonstrated in a two-terminal device using an ensemble of gold nanopeapodded silica nanowires under light illumination, whereas no photoresponse was observed for the plain silica nanowires. These results show the potential of using gold nanopeapodded silica nanowires as wavelength-controlled optical nanoswitches. The microreactor approach can be applied to the preparation of a range of hybrid metal-dielectric one-dimensional nanostructures that can be used as functional building blocks for nanoscale waveguiding devices, sensors and optoelectronics.  相似文献

Localized surface plasmon resonances in silver and gold nanostructures are engaged to enhance the inelastic Raman scattering and the fluorescence of a phopholipid containing a sulforhodamine 101 acid chloride dye known as Texas Red. The most efficient coupling and enhancement are attained when the excitation laser line is in resonance with both the chromophore and the plasmon absorption of the nanostructure, the case of surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering, allowing single-molecule detection. The tagged phospholipid was incorporated into a single fatty acid Langmuir monolayer at varying concentrations and transferred onto an evaporated Ag nanoparticle film. Surface-enhanced fluorescence is achieved using shell-isolated silica-coated gold nanoparticles, an emission enhancement named SHINEF.  相似文献

Fabrication of functional nanostructures is a prominent issue in nanotechnology, because they often exhibit unique properties that are different from the individual building blocks. Protein cage nanoparticles are attractive nanobuilding blocks for constructing nanostructures due to their well‐defined symmetric spherical structures, polyvalent nature, and functional plasticity. Here, a lumazine synthase protein cage nanoparticle is genetically modified to be used as a template to generate functional nanobuilding blocks and covalently display enzymes (β‐lactamase) and protein ligands (FKBP12/FRB) on its surface, making dual‐functional nanobuilding blocks. Nanoreaction clusters are subsequently created by ligand‐mediated alternate deposition of two complementary building blocks using layer‐by‐layer (LbL) assemblies. 3D nanoreaction clusters provide enhanced enzymatic activity compared with monolayered building block arrays. The approaches described here may provide new opportunities for fabricating functional nanostructures and nanoreaction clusters, leading to the development of new protein nanoparticle‐based nanostructured biosensor devices.  相似文献

A simple, low temperature and low cost method, which was based on heating the mixture of Ti and NH4Cl powders in air at 300 °C, has been developed for the controlled synthesis of anatase TiO2 nanostructures including irregular nanoparticle aggregates, curved nanowires built up by the oriented attachment of nanoparticles, and nanoplates constructed with nanoparticles. The characterization results from X-ray diffraction and Raman spectra indicated that the as-obtained products were anatase TiO2. Field emission scanning electron microscope images revealed that the products obtained for 3, 10 and 16 h comprised, in turn, irregular nanoparticle aggregates (8-55 nm), curved nanowires built up by the oriented attachment of nanoparticles (~ 9 nm), and nanoplates constructed with nanoparticles (~ 8 nm).  相似文献

Microfluidic microdroplets have increasingly found application in biomolecular sensing as well as nanomaterials growth. More recently the synthesis of plasmonic nanostructures in microdroplets has led to surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS)‐based sensing applications. However, the study of nanoassembly in microdroplets has previously been hindered by the lack of on‐chip characterization tools, particularly at early timescales. Enabled by a refractive index matching microdroplet formulation, dark‐field spectroscopy is exploited to directly track the formation of nanometer‐spaced gold nanoparticle assemblies in microdroplets. Measurements in flow provide millisecond time resolution through the assembly process, allowing identification of a regime where dimer formation dominates the dark‐field scattering and SERS. Furthurmore, it is shown that small numbers of nanoparticles can be isolated in microdroplets, paving the way for simple high‐yield assembly, isolation, and sorting of few nanoparticle structures.  相似文献

As a potential alternative to indium oxide (ITO), metal nanowire transparent conductive electrodes (TCEs) have attracted more and more attention. Here, a facile method that can be applied to the synthesis of a variety of metal/bimetallic nanowires has been proposed. Metal/bimetallic nanowires synthesized through this method show high aspect ratios and great dispersibility, which makes them ideal building blocks for transparent electrodes. The synthesis mechanism is discussed in‐depth to give a theoretical basis of morphology control of metal nanostructures in organic synthesizing systems. TCEs with high flexibility, excellent optical–electrical performance as well as outstanding anti‐thermal and anti‐moisture stability are constructed. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work on synthesizing multiple metal/bimetallic nanowires through one method.  相似文献

It is demonstrated that DNA can be used to control the synthesis of silver nanoplates with different morphologies using spherical silver seeds. UV–vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy are used to characterize the synthesized nanoparticles. Silver nanoprisms are encoded by poly C and poly G, while silver flower bouquets and silver nanodiscs are synthesized using poly A and poly T, respectively. The length of DNA is found to have little effect on the morphology of silver nanoparticles. Moreover, the synthesized silver nanoplates are found to have high surface enhanced Raman scattering enhancement ability, good antibacterial activity, and good biocompatibility. These discoveries will broaden the application of DNA in nanoscience and will provide a new platform to investigate the interaction between DNA sequences and silver nanoparticles.  相似文献

The formation of high-density silver nanoparticles and a novel method to precisely control the spacing between nanoparticles by temperature are demonstrated for a tunable surface enhanced Raman scattering substrates. The high-density nanoparticle thin film is accomplished by self-assembling through the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique on a water surface and transferring the particle monolayer to a temperature-responsive polymer membrane. The temperature-responsive polymer membrane allows producing a dynamic surface enhanced Raman scattering substrate. The plasmon peak of the silver nanoparticle film red shifts up to 110 nm with increasing temperature. The high-density particle film serves as an excellent substrate for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), and the scattering signal enhancement factor can be dynamically tuned by the thermally activated SERS substrate. The SERS spectra of Rhodamine 6G on a high-density silver particle film at various temperatures is characterized to demonstrate the tunable plasmon coupling between high-density nanoparticles.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles are notoriously susceptible to oxidation, yet gold nanoparticles coated in silver exhibit a unique electronic interaction that occurs at the interface of the two metals, leading to enhanced stability properties for the silver shell. In order to probe the phenomenon, the stability of gold nanoparticles coated by silver was studied in the presence of various chloride-containing electrolytes. It was found that a critical silver shell thickness of approximately 1 nm exists that cannot be oxidatively etched from the particle surface: this is in contrast to the observation of complete oxidative etching for monometallic silver nanoparticles. The results are discussed in terms of particle composition, structure and morphology before and after exposing the particles to the electrolytes. Raman analysis of the reporter molecule 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol adsorbed on the particle surface illustrates the feasibility of using gold coated by silver nanoparticle probes in sensing applications that require the presence of high levels of salt. The results provide insight into the manipulation of the electronic and stability properties for gold- and silver-based nanoparticles.  相似文献

Significant advancement has been made in nanoparticle research, with synthetic techniques extending over a wide range of materials with good control over particle size and shape. A grand challenge is assembling and positioning the nanoparticles in desired locations to construct complex, higher-order functional structures. Controlled positioning of nanoparticles has been achieved in pre-defined templates fabricated by top-down approaches. A self-assembly method, however, is highly desirable because of its simplicity and compatibility with heterogeneous integration processes. Here we report on the spontaneous formation of ordered gold and silver nanoparticle stripe patterns on dewetting a dilute film of polymer-coated nanoparticles floating on a water surface. Well-aligned stripe patterns with tunable orientation, thickness and periodicity at the micrometre scale were obtained by transferring nanoparticles from a floating film onto a substrate in a dip-coating fashion. This facile technique opens up a new avenue for lithography-free patterning of nanoparticle arrays for various applications including, for example, multiplexed surface-enhanced Raman substrates and templated fabrication of higher-order nanostructures.  相似文献

A multifunctional one‐dimensional nanostructure incorporating both CdSe quantum dots (QDs) and Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) within a SiO2‐nanotube matrix is successfully synthesized based on the self‐assembly of preformed functional NPs, allowing for control over the size and amount of NPs contained within the composite nanostructures. This specific nanostructure is distinctive because both the favorable photoluminescent and magnetic properties of QD and NP building blocks are incorporated and retained within the final silica‐based composite, thus rendering it susceptible to both magnetic guidance and optical tracking. Moreover, the resulting hydrophilic nanocomposites are found to easily enter into the interiors of HeLa cells without damage, thereby highlighting their capability not only as fluorescent probes but also as possible drug‐delivery vehicles of interest in nanobiotechnology.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles have unique properties that are highly dependent on their shape and size. Synthetic methods that enable precise control over nanoparticle morphology currently require shape‐directing agents such as surfactants or polymers that force growth in a particular direction by adsorbing to specific crystal facets. These auxiliary reagents passivate the nanoparticles' surface, and thus decrease their performance in applications like catalysis and surface‐enhanced Raman scattering. Here, a surfactant‐ and polymer‐free approach to achieving high‐performance gold nanoparticles is reported. A theoretical framework to elucidate the growth mechanism of nanoparticles in surfactant‐free media is developed and it is applied to identify strategies for shape‐controlled syntheses. Using the results of the analyses, a simple, green‐chemistry synthesis of the four most commonly used morphologies: nanostars, nanospheres, nanorods, and nanoplates is designed. The nanoparticles synthesized by this method outperform analogous particles with surfactant and polymer coatings in both catalysis and surface‐enhanced Raman scattering.  相似文献

The enhanced local optical fields at the surface of illuminated metallic nanoparticles and nanostructures are of intense fundamental and technological interest. Here we report a self-consistent measurement of the spatial extent of the fringing field above a plasmonic nanoparticle surface. Bifunctional DNA-based adsorbate molecules are used as nanoscale optical rulers, providing two distinct surface enhanced Raman scattering signals that vary independently in intensity as a function of distance from the nanoparticle surface. While the measurement technique is calibrated on gold nanoshell surfaces with controlled and predictable electromagnetic nanoenvironments, this approach is broadly adaptable to a wide range of plasmonic geometries.  相似文献
