The emerging notion of active networks describes the general vision of communication network evolution, where the network nodes become active because they take part in the computation of applications and provision of customized services. In this context mobile agent technology and programmable switches are considered as enabling technologies. This article looks at the impact of mobile agent technology on telecommunication service environments, influenced by the intelligent network (IN) architecture. The authors illustrate how the integration of mobile agent platforms into IN elements, notably into the IN switches, will realize an active IN environment. This enables telecom services implemented through mobile service agents on a per user basis to be instantly deployed at programmable switching nodes, which results in better performance and fault tolerance compared to traditional IN service implementations  相似文献

This article introduces a novel, open, and scalable service architecture for context-aware personal communication. In contrast to the network-centric open service access in third-generation mobile networks, this architecture moves the point of integration for user services out to the mobile devices, where we can create support for context-aware computing and communication. Support for peer-to-peer service negotiation with minimal a priori shared knowledge, context representation, and reasoning about context enables the mobile agents (that represent users and other entities) to be aware of and react to any event and thus context. Hence, the delivery of context-aware applications to users intertwining digital and physical objects in mobile interactive spaces leverages events from sensors, mobility support, and digital entities. Finally, a presentation of our prototype and experiences from the HotTown project demonstrates the feasibility of the approach and provides some examples of the enabled user communication for large-scale mobile networks.  相似文献

In this article we present a perspective on next-generation mobile communications and services. As a preliminary research work on next-generation mobile communications, we exploit what next-generation mobile services will be (S. Ryu et al., May 2003). We define next-generation mobile services as a hierarchy of services consisting of three different service levels: the service areas, the service functionalities, and the service technologies. We derive these service levels by means of scenario-based analysis. Next we propose conceptual reference network architecture, focusing on the realization of the service technologies. We divide the network into four different parts: a user equipments and access part, a network service provisioning layer part, a network control layer part, and non-mobile network operator service pan, according to characteristics of information and service flows within a network. In this reference network architecture, service elements such as servers, processors, and gateways are placed in each network part to support the derived next-generation mobile services. Finally, we give a brief introduction of research and development activities for next-generation mobile communication systems and services in Korea.  相似文献

This study identifies and investigates a number of cognitive factors that contribute to shaping user perceptions of and attitude toward mobile cloud computing services by integrating these factors with the technology acceptance model. A structural equation modeling analysis is employed on data collected from 1099 survey samples, and results reveal that user acceptance of mobile cloud services is largely affected by perceived mobility, connectedness, security, quality of service and system, and satisfaction. Both theoretical and practical implications of the study’s findings are discussed.  相似文献

This study introduces an integrated research model to examine user acceptance of mobile map services, hypothesizing potential causal connections between key cognitive factors and users’ intention to use the services. This study determined potential variables that may be significantly related to perceived usefulness of mobile map services through in-depth interviews with two groups: a user and an expert group. Collected data of 1109 users who took part in the internet survey were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results indicate that satisfaction with and perceived usefulness of the mobile map services were the most significant antecedents of users’ attitude toward the services and behavioral intention to use them. Users’ attitude and flow state also affected their intention to use the services, while perceived locational accuracy, service, and display quality had notable effects on attitude. This study demonstrates the significant effects of these and other examined factors, and the findings reveal that flow played a multiple moderating roles significantly affecting various connections in the integrated research model. Both theoretical and practical implications are discussed.  相似文献

Nowadays, Instant Messaging is a very successful service thanks to its versatility and simplicity in the communication offered to users, which is a key feature for the demanding environment of connectivity and mobility that modern society requires. With the success of mobile telephony, new alternatives for this kind of services appear however, an environment of low and complex interoperability was the result of protocols and transport technologies diversity. This article describes PAUMIN (Universal Access Platform to Mobile Instant Messaging), a universal platform that enables the communication between different instant messaging providers using mobile devices. The cdma2000/spl reg/ I/spl times/EV-DV system is designed to meet the ever-increasing demand for high-speed packet data transmission while providing the same level of revenue generated by conventional voice communications on existing cdma2000 1/spl times/ systems. It supports concurrent voice and high-speed data on a single cdma 1.25 MHz carrier, and offers improved flexibility for operators to manage data and voice services cost efficiently. However, the Korean market has proved that providing higher bandwidth to the user does not guarantee the success of mobile data service. Users tend not to use expensive mobile wireless data services such as video streaming, video on demand, and MP3 music download service that they feel do not provide enough justification for their costs. The problem LG Telecom faces now as a mobile operator is not only to evolve technologies that enable various services, but also to find a way to provide attractive services at reasonable prices. This article describes experiences in the wireless data market in Korea as well as the market needs and driving forces for cdma2000 1/spl times/EV-DV developments.  相似文献

The implementation of new mobile communication technologies developed in the third generation partnership project (3GPP) will allow to access the Internet not only from a PC but also via mobile phones, palmtops and other devices. New applications will emerge, combining several basic services like voice telephony, e-mail, voice over IP, mobility or web-browsing, and thus wiping out the borders between the fixed telephone network, mobile radio and the Internet. Offering those value-added services will be the key factor for success of network and service providers in an increasingly competitive market. In 3GPP's service framework the use of the Parlay APIs is proposed that allow application development by third parties in order to speed up service creation and deployment. 3GPP has also adopted SIP for session control of multimedia communications in an IP network. This article proposes a mapping of SIP functionality to Parlay services and describes a prototype implementation using the SIP Servlet API. Furthermore, an architecture of a Service Platform is presented that offers a framework for the creation, execution and management of carrier grade multimedia services in heterogeneous networks.  相似文献

This article proposes a network paradigm called the single-server-view network as the basis for networks in the 21st century, when the value of a network to users will be based on the services provided rather than data communication capability. Based on our paradigm, we propose a double-plane network architecture, consisting of a simplified data forwarding plane and a service control plane, that performs all the complex processing tasks. The data forwarding plane uses an advanced photonic network as its basis. The service control plane consists of agent, service, and policy control layers with open interfaces between layers. Leading-edge information processing technologies, such as active node, agent, distributed processing, and policy-based management, are used in this plane. Since mobile communication is becoming a major access technology, an approach to integrating mobile and fixed networks into this framework is also proposed. The current status of key technologies, such as photonic networks, agent technology, and policy-based management, are reported.  相似文献

This paper describes a novel mobile virtual-distrubuted system architecture for supporting global mobile computing and communications. the principal contribution of this paper is to innovatively apply virtual memory concepts to mobile systems by deploying mobile-floating agents to de-couple services and resources from the underlying network and allow them to move around following their mobile users. The mobile-floating agents maintain data structures associated with a mobile user. By combining the mobile-floating agent functions with a predictive mobility management algorithm and location-aware caching and prefetching, services and user data structure are pre-connected and pre-assigned at the locations to which the user is moving. Thus, the users can maintain their data structures or immediately receive service with virtually the same efficiency as at the previous location.  相似文献

Significant events during 1992 are highlighted. Communication technologies began merging, with cable TV offering telephone service and telecommunication companies offering TV. Wireless personal communication systems (PCSs) got the green light when the 1992 World Administrative Radio Conference designed frequency bands for future mobile communications services, with provisions for such services to be handled via low-Earth-orbiting satellites, and the US Federal Communication Commission allocated frequencies in the 2 GHz band to the deployment of several emerging technologies, including PCSs. Multimedia communication took off with the introduction of new services. In optical communication, erbium-doped fiber amplifiers were installed in the world's longest repeaterless undersea link. Strained-layer multi-quantum-well lasers received increasing attention, due to the improved system and device properties they offer. 第三代移动通信技术支持不同服务质量(QoS)的多媒体业务,而呼叫接纳控制(CAC)技术是移动通信中的关键技术之一.本文提出一种动态预留呼叫接纳控制算法,该算法根据小区中各业务的话务量预测各业务所需信道教,从而为切换业务和新业务预留一定的信道.通过比较动态预留算法与新呼叫受限算法和中断优先级算法的性能,得出动态预留算法在降低语音和数据业务的呼叫阻塞率、中断率方面有明显的改善,是一种比较理想的呼叫接纳控制算法.  相似文献
