Organic compounds of phosphorus have been developed for a range of applications in clinical dentistry. These include dentine bonding agents, restorative materials and therapeutic agents, such as active ingredients in anticaries mouthwashes. A characteristic feature of all of these applications is the good bonding of the phosphorus compound to the tooth. This review highlights the progress that has been made to date in preparing functional and durable organophosphorus bonding agents and cements, and includes coverage of recent synthetic work aimed at preparing improved organophosphorus molecules for this application. The review concludes that this remains a promising field of chemistry to explore in the search for improved, clinically useful dental materials.  相似文献

The adhesive attachment of fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) laminate to the external face of reinforced concrete structures is currently one of the most popular and effective methods for retrofitting and strengthening concrete structures. With this method, the additional strength of the attached reinforcement is transmitted into the concrete members through adhesion. However, the relatively weak adhesive interface fundamentally limits the efficacy of the method. Much effort has been made in the research community to improve the bond strength and develop bond models, but a satisfactory solution has yet to be found. Mechanical fastening is another more traditional technology that is used to bond one material to another. This paper introduces a new hybrid bonding technique that combines adhesive bonding and a new type of mechanical fastening. The new mechanical fastening technique does not rely on bearing to transmit the interfacial shear, but instead increases the interfacial bond by resisting the separation of the FRP laminate from the concrete substrate. Experimental tests demonstrated that the bond strength with this new hybrid bonding technology was 7.5 times that of conventional adhesive bonding. Furthermore, the new bonding technique is applicable to all types of commercially available FRP laminate (fabric, sheet, plate, and strip), and in principle is also applicable to materials other than FRP.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of primers on the polymerization of bonding agent. We measured the degree of conversion (radical production) and mechanical properties (surface hardness and direct tensile strength) of various adhesives/primers mixed at different ratios and the effect of varying the visible-light curing time. With and without primer treatment, the tensile bond strength of adhesive resin to micacious glass ceramic and human enamel was measured. After the tensile bond test, using the Image Capture System, the failure patterns of adhesive resin bonded to micacious glass-ceramic were analysed. The results show that the mixtures containing the higher amounts of primer yielded a lower degree of conversion and inferior mechanical properties when compared with the mixtures containing a lower proportion of primer, except in the experimental bonding system. The adhesive/primer mixtures inhibited free radical polymerization. The value for the Knoop hardness number and the direct tensile strength of the adhesive/primer mixtures were significantly decreased compared with those of the adhesive bonding agent alone with no primer added. The tensile bond strength of adhesive resin bonded to micacious glass-ceramic or human enamel without primer treatment was significantly greater than that of adhesive resin with primer treatment in certain cases. Most of the fractures of ceramic surfaces were cohesive (within resins) and/or interface (at the ceramic surface) failure.  相似文献

Hemostasis and other tissue control has always been important for proper impression making; however, the need for these procedures has never been more present than in contemporary adhesive dentistry. Bondable restorations demand as contaminant-free a field as possible. This article provides a simple and effective method for addressing hemostasis and sulcular fluid control for soft tissue management in adhesive dentistry.  相似文献

Clinical studies have shown that recurrent decay and lack of retention are the major causes of traditional crown and bridge failure. Optimal marginal accuracy and preparation retention form are important pre-requisites for longevity, as well as good patient oral hygiene. In an effort to provide improved clinical success, new classes of luting agents with improved physical properties and new therapeutic capabilities have been developed. Conventional glass ionomer cements provide fluoride release and adhesive properties. Recently introduced resin-modified glass ionomer luting materials add the potential for increased resistance to dissolution and improved physical and biological attributes. The resin luting cements are more difficult to use but provide greatly increased bonding capabilities and are necessary for strength requirements of all-ceramic restorations. This article describes the three classes of adhesive luting materials, provides a comparison of biological and physical properties, describes the indications and limitations of each class, and makes recommendations for clinical usage.

Glues and adhesives attach to a surface principally involving molecular attraction, whereas cements mostly work through mechanical interlocking. The adhesive and its degradation products must be biocompatible: chemical, clinical, legal, physical aspects are considered; the toxicity of even minor components must be extremely reduced. The idea of bone bonding using biological materials has been proposed by Gluck, in Berlin, more than a century ago. Cements and adhesives have been used for the fixation of fractures, the repair of defects and the fixation of prostheses. The cements are initially liquid or plastic and conform with the irregularities in the substratum, producing better bonding on rough surfaces. Developed during the early 1950s, cyanocrylate adhesives attracted the medical community by their bonding strength and ability to bond in wet environments but reports of displacement of the fracture ends were followed by reports of high infection rates, nonunion, and severe local reactions. Polymethylmethacrylate does not form a chemical bond with bone but a mechanical bond, a weak bone-polymer joint. Charnley used self-curing acrylic cement to bond a femoral head prosthesis into a femur. When adhesives are used to bond tissues, the polymer acts as a barrier between the growing edges and delay healing; the adhesive tends to be rapidly isolated from the bone by a fibrotic, non-adhesive capsule. No proof exists concerning the osteogenic potential of fibrin sealing (FS); its beneficial effect on bone formation has been questioned even if there is some evidence that FS should influence the early phases of bone repair and may help to solve the problem of reattachment of small osteocartilagenous fragments following joint trauma.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To evaluate a dental adhesive system that uses a single conditioning/primer agent. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-five flat enamel and dentin bonding sites were prepared to 600 grit on human molar teeth. The Clearfil Liner Bond 2 adhesive system was used to bond Clearfil AP-X composite to both enamel and dentin. After 24 hours of water storage, shear bond strengths were determined using an Instron testing machine. Fifty V-shaped cavity preparations were prepared in human molar teeth with an enamel and cementum margin. Composite restorations were placed using the new adhesive system. The teeth were stored for 24 hours, thermocycled, stained with AgNO3 , sectioned and examined for microleakage. SEM examinations were also completed to evaluate the effects of the treatment steps on enamel and dentin surfaces. RESULTS: Mean shear bond strengths for the experimental adhesive to enamel and dentin were 28.2 +/- 4.9 and 19.4 +/- 3.1 MPa. A t-test revealed that the enamel bond strength was significantly greater (P<0.05) than the dentin strength. No marginal leakage was observed from the enamel margins of the restorations. Three restorations showed minimal leakage from the cementum margins. SEM examinations showed resin penetration into both the conditioned enamel and dentin surfaces. The adhesive system produced high bond strengths to both enamel and dentin, exhibited very minimal microleakage and was easy to use.  相似文献

A new type of material is being introduced to American dentistry. The material is a polymer glass, tested in Europe as Artglass. The material is purported to be equal to or better than porcelain for esthetic dentistry. The strength, color translucency, and color vitality allow minimal destruction of enamel for esthetics. An Artglass occlusal is less abrasive to enamel than porcelain and approximates gold. The characteristics of this material system introduces "minimal invasive dentistry" to routine dental repair and reconstruction. A case study of the senior author's reconstruction of his anterior teeth is presented.  相似文献

Bond strength of cold roll bonded Al layers with and without Ti particles was studied. The effect of particle’s content that was placed between aluminium sheets and rolling reduction on weld efficiency and bonding was studied. Peel test was used to measure the adhesive strength between the bonded Al strips. The weld efficiency \(\eta\) of the roll bonding process was calculated. The results showed that the weld efficiency in the presence of Ti is lower than that in the absence of Ti. The surface conditions of the peeled surfaces were inspected by scanning electron microscopy. It could be concluded that by enhancing the rolling reduction up to 70%, the bonded area on the interface is increased and bonds with higher strength are produced. However, the addition of Ti particles leads to reduction of the bonded area and bond strength. Also, presence of Ti powders up to 0.5 wt%, lead to the increase of threshold deformation to 45%.  相似文献

According to the claims of the manufacturer, aethylcyanoacrylate can be used to bond orthodontic brackets and some orthodontists have already adopted its use for this purpose. Because, however, the use of the material as thus applied has not yet been the object of research, the question of its adhesion to tensile forces immediately after bonding and after 50, 100, and 150 days of placement in a physiologic saline solution (0.9% NaCl) is the subject of this study. 40 bovine upper incisors were extracted from 20 animals for each of the four points in time. The brackets were bonded with Cyano-Veneer and Mono-Lok according to a randomized list. Mono-Lok, an adhesive from the group of common orthodontic adhesives, functioned as the reference material. The bonding strength of the brackets in relation to the tensile forces was measured by means of a "Zwickuniversalprüfmaschine" (Zwick universal testing machine). Immediately after bonding, the cyanoacrylate demonstrated significantly higher bonding strength values than Mono-Lok. At 50, 100, and 150 days in the physiologic saline solution, the bonding strength of both materials showed no significant difference. It can thus be concluded that, when wires are employed immediately after bonding, the danger of bracket loss is significantly reduced through the use of cyanoacrylate.  相似文献

Diffusion bonding of Si3N4 to the new generation of ODS-superalloys, such as MA6000, may yield strongly joined metal-ceramic systems for high temperature applications. Si3N4 has been diffusion bonded to MA6000 during HIP at 100 MPa at 1100-1300°C. Stresses caused by the large thermal mismatch were reduced by multiphase interlayers. To promote the chemical adhesion, reactive and adhesive interlayers were used at the metal-ceramic interface which in the absence of such layers fail at low stresses. It has been shown that during reactive bonding brittle phases are frequently formed at the interfaces which may lead to a failure of the joint. The reduce of thermal stresses by thin soft interlayers is very limited but can be obtained by a microcrack induced stress relaxation mechanism. During adhesive diffusion bonding the mechanical strength of the bond is limited by the stress state and the strength of the ceramic component.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: Until recently, esthetic inlay restorations in posterior teeth have been limited to cavities surrounded by enamel. Dentin adhesive systems in combination with luting composites and light-cured resin-modified glass ionomer cements offer a possibility for bonding ceramic inlays to cavities when the cervical margin is in dentin. This study was designed to compare in vitro marginal integrity of ceramic inlays bonded to dentin to restorations placed in cavities with margins located entirely in the enamel. METHODS: In the present in vitro study, the sealing abilities of a dentin bonding agent/luting composite combination (Syntac/Dual Cement, Vivadent) and resin-modified glass ionomers (Photac Fil, Photac Bond, ESPE; Dyract, De Trey Dentsply; Fuji II LC, GC Dental Industrial Corp.; and Vitremer, 3M Dental Products) used as luting agents in cavities extending beyond the cemento-enamel junction, were compared to the sealing abilities of a conventional luting composite (Vita Cerec Duo Cement, Vita) in cavities within sound enamel. SEM analysis and dye penetration were performed to evaluate marginal integrity at the cervical cavity margins. RESULTS: The dentin bonding agent/luting composite combination (Syntac/Dual Cement) rendered a marginal seal within the dentin similar to the quality obtained with the conventional luting procedures within sound enamel. When three out of the five resin-modified glass ionomers were used as luting agents (Dyract, Fuji II LC and Vitremer), the results were comparable to those reported for the dentin bonding agents and the conventional method. SIGNIFICANCE: Light-cured resin-modified glass ionomer cements may be considered as an alternative to dentin bonding agents when the cavity margins of ceramic inlay restorations are within the dentin. However, further studies, e.g., wear resistance, must be performed.  相似文献

The present curricula in dentistry are biased in favor of cure and technical capability ... individualism rather than promotive, preventive and community orientation. The team "approach" and "total patient care" concepts must be given emphasis in these curricula. Dentistry, being a profession, should accentuate service, rather than materialism and profit. The Philippine situation demands than adoption of a "New Horizon in Health" which emphasized positive health as part of human development. The educational system, organized dentistry, the licensing board, the legislators, policy makers, oral health providers and research formulators will have important roles to perform in the successful implementation of this "new horizon in health" concept. "Primary Health Care" is another strategy adopted to realize the global goal of "Health for all by Year 2000". This is a positive approach for both individual and community oral health intervention programs.  相似文献

The advantages of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP)-strengthening have been shown time and again during the last decade. Several thousand structures retrofitted with FRPs exist worldwide. There are various reasons why the retrofit is needed, but it is not uncommon for the demands on the structure to change with time, as buildings and civil structures usually have a very long life. The structures may have to eventually carry larger loads or fulfill new standards. In extreme cases, a structure may need repair due to an accident or to errors made during the design or construction phases, and must therefore be strengthened before it can be used. Different methods to retrofit with FRPs also exist, such as bonding of plates or sheets, with their use of epoxy as the bonding agent being the commonality. Epoxy provides very good bond to concrete and is durable and resistant to most environments in the building industry. However, epoxy may also create problems in the working environment, needs a minimum application temperature, and creates diffusion-closed surfaces. These drawbacks can be overcome if the epoxy can be replaced with a cementitious bonding agent. In this paper tests are presented where the epoxy has been replaced with a cement based bonding agent for retrofitting. Pilot tests show that very good composite action can be achieved and that only minor changes in the design procedure need to be taken.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to characterize denture and soft liner adhesion and to determine the adhesive and/or cohesive strength of different soft tissue liners bonded to the denture base by use of a new technique. Two groups of five permanent soft liners (dry or exposed to water for 6 months) were tested by use of a tensile mode to characterize the failure characteristics of soft liners bonded to denture base resin. The method differed from previous test methods because of the specimen's ability to align axially during the test. The results indicated significant differences in the bonding of liners to the denture base, and light-cure systems exhibited the greatest amount of stress needed for failure. Low bond strength was observed when the adhesion was poor or when the cohesive strength of the soft liner was low and lead to pure adhesive or cohesive failure. When both adhesive and cohesive bonds were strong, failure occurred at high stresses. Combinations of adhesive and cohesive failures (mixed mode) were also observed in intermediate cases.  相似文献

The fracture surfaces and interfaces between pads and pedestals after ultrasonic bonding of chips to substrates were observed by an electron microscope. Dimple patterns were observed on the fracture surfaces, which showed the bonding between pads and pedestals was excellent. The existence of two dendritic layers which were observed on both sides of the interface suggests the melting of the original surfaces of pad and pedestal during bonding. The plastic deformation of pedestals and the change of contact electrical resistance between pads and pedestals due to clamping force were measured. The results of these experiments show that it is possible to obtain good bonding between chips and substrates for sixteen bumps on a chip as well as for three bumps with a good prospect for productivity and reliability.  相似文献

Zinc coated dual phase 600 steel (DP 600 grade) was investigated, utilisation of which has gradually increased with each passing day in the automotive industry. The adhesive bonding (AB), resistance spot welding (RSW), and adhesive weld bonding (AWB) joints of the zinc coated DP 600 steel were investigated. Additionally, the zinc coating was removed using HCL acid in order to investigate the effect of the coating. The microstructure, tensile shear strengths, and fracture properties of adhesive bonding (AB), resistance spot welding (RSW), and adhesive weld bonding (AWB) joints of the coated and uncoated DP 600 steel were compared. In addition, a mechanical-electrical-thermal coupled model in a finite element analysis environment was utilised. The thermal profile phenomenon was calculated by simulating this process. The results of the tensile shear test indicated that the tensile load bearing capacity (TLBC) values of the coated specimens among the three welding methods were higher than those of the uncoated specimens. Additionally, the tensile strength of the AWB joints of the coated and uncoated specimens was higher than that of the AB and RSW joints. It was determined that the fracture behaviours and the deformation caused were different for the three welding methods.  相似文献

Amelogenesis imperfecta is a rare dental disease and presents a major challenge to the dentist. With the tremendous advances in the field of esthetic dentistry, especially in bonding to dentin, it is today possible to restore function and esthetics to an acceptable level. The need for full crown preparation has been decreased to an absolute minimum. A case of amelogenesis imperfecta, complicated by a malocclusion, is presented. A combination of periodontal treatment and resin-bonded porcelain onlays and nobel alloys resulted in a highly successful outcome. The virtual absence of enamel was overcome with the aid of dentin bonding.  相似文献

Rehabilitation and strengthening of concrete structures have become more common during the last 10–15?years, partly due to a large stock of old structures and partly due to concrete deterioration. Also factors such as lack of understanding and the consequences of chloride attack affect the need for rehabilitation. In addition, more traffic and heavier loads lead to the need for upgrading. Existing externally bonded strengthening systems using fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) and epoxy as bonding agents have been proven to be a good approach to repair and strengthen concrete structures. However, the use of epoxy bonding agents has some disadvantages in the form of incompatibilities with the base concrete. It is, therefore, of interest to substitute epoxy with systems that have better compatibility properties with the base concrete, for example, cementitious bonding agents. This paper presents a study on reinforced concrete beams strengthened in shear with the use of cementitious bonding agents and carbon fiber grids, denoted as mineral-based composites (MBC). In this study it is shown that the MBC system has a strengthening effect corresponding to that of strengthening systems using epoxy bonding agents and carbon fiber sheets. Different designs and material properties of the MBC system have been tested. An extensive monitoring setup has been carried out using traditional strain gauges and photometric strain measurements to obtain strains in steel reinforcement, in FRP, and strain fields on the strengthened surface. It has been shown that the use of MBC reduces strains in the steel stirrups and surface cracks even for low load steps as compared to a nonstrengthened concrete beam.  相似文献
