We report on a high-power (cw) red laser at 671 nm by intracavity frequency doubling of a double-end-pumped 1342 nm Nd:YVO4 laser based on the nonlinear crystal LiB3O5. A red output power of 3.38 W is obtained for a pump power of 27 W, with corresponding optical-to-optical efficiency of 12.5%. The 671 nm beam is nearly diffraction limited.  相似文献

We demonstrate a high-power laser diode stacks double-end-pumped Nd:YVO4 1064 nm slab laser with a folded stable-unstable hybrid resonator. An output power of 220 W was obtained at the pump power of 490 W with optical conversion efficiency of 44.9%. At the output power of 202 W, the M2 factors in the unstable direction and in the stable direction were 1.7 and 2.3, respectively.  相似文献

A laser-diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 green laser with periodically poled KTP (PPKTP) and GaAs saturable absorber has been realized. The dependences of pulse repetition rate, pulse energy, pulse width and peak power on incident pump power for the generated-green-light pulses are measured. At the maximum incident pump power of 4.1 W, the maximum average output power of 113 mW is obtained, corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 2.8%. At the same pump power, stable green laser pulses of duration of 44.6 ns and energy of 0.28 µJ are generated at a repetition rate of 403.4 kHz. The coupling wave rate equations for a passively Q-switched laser are also given and the numerical solutions agree with the experimental results.  相似文献

A diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 green laser with a periodically poled KTP and Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber is realized. The dependences of pulse repetition rate, pulse energy, pulse width, and peak power on incident pump power are measured for the generated green-light pulses. A rate-equation model is introduced to theoretically analyze the results obtained in the experiment, in which the spatial distribution of the intracavity photon density is taken into account. We obtained 2.5 W of single-frequency TEM(00) output at 532 nm using a Brewster-angled LBO crystal for intracavity second-harmonic generation in a diode-bar-pumped Nd:YAG laser. By inserting a thin uncoated étalon, the 1061.4-nm laser transition can be selected, generating 1.6 W of output at 530.7 nm.  相似文献

A practical in situ method is described and used for determination of the fractional thermal-loading parameter eta(h) in an operating diode-pumped Nd:YVO(4) minilaser at 1064 nm. Readily applicable to the thermal characterization of other solid-state media, the method is based on the fact that thermally induced lensing will cause the laser oscillation to be quenched at a critical pump power whose magnitude depends on the cavity configuration, thermo-optical properties of the gain medium, and, in particular, on the value of eta(h). In the experiments described here, a 0.5-mm-long coated Nd:YVO(4) crystal with 3-at. % Nd concentration was used to construct the diode-pumped laser with a flat highly reflecting end mirror and an intracavity lens. For the method to be effective, the resonator was set up close to the edge of the stability range. Above the oscillation threshold, the pump power at which lasing was quenched because of the onset of the thermally induced resonator instability was measured as a function of the intracavity lens position. A numerical model that accounted for absorption saturation and pump-induced thermal lensing was then used to analyze the experimentally measured data with eta(h) as an adjustable parameter. The average best-fit value of eta(h) was determined to be 0.40 with an estimated statistical variation of 8%.  相似文献

High-power narrow-spectrum diode laser systems based on tapered gain media in an external cavity are demonstrated at 675 nm. Two 2 mm long amplifiers are used, one with a 500 μm long ridge-waveguide section (device A), the other with a 750 μm long ridge-waveguide section (device B). Laser system A based on device A is tunable from 663 to 684 nm with output power higher than 0.55 W in the tuning range; as high as 1.25 W output power is obtained at 675.34 nm. The emission spectral bandwidth is less than 0.05 nm throughout the tuning range, and the beam quality factor M(2) is 2.07 at an output power of 1.0 W. Laser system B based on device B is tunable from 666 to 685 nm. As high as 1.05 W output power is obtained around 675.67 nm. The emission spectral bandwidth is less than 0.07 nm throughout the tuning range, and the beam quality factor M(2) is 1.13 at an output power of 0.93 W. Laser system B is used as a pump source for the generation of 337.6 nm UV light by single-pass frequency doubling in a bismuth triborate (BIBO) crystal. An output power of 109 μW UV light, corresponding to a conversion efficiency of 0.026% W(-1), is attained.  相似文献

A laser-diode-array end-pumped Nd:LuVO4 crystal continuous-wave (cw) laser operating at 1.34 microm has been demonstrated. The maximum cw output power of 1.85 W was obtained at the incident pump power of 17 W for a c-cut 0.5 at. % Nd-doped LuVO4 crystal sample, giving the corresponding optical conversion efficiency of 10.88% and a slope efficiency of 13.5%. Laser experiments of Nd3+ concentration of 0.5 and 0.9 at. % a-cut crystal LuVO4 samples were also investigated; due to the strong excited-state absorption of Nd:LuVO4 at 1.34 microm, the output power was limited.  相似文献

We report, for the first time to our knowledge, on the noise characteristics of a Nd:YVO(4) laser pumped by a laser diode modulated at high frequency. We have investigated noise characteristics of a Nd:YVO(4) laser pumped by a laser diode that is oscillating in a stable multilongitudinal mode because of modulation by a high-frequency (several hundred megahertz) current. As a result, low-noise operations of -130 dB/Hz above frequencies of 1 MHz have been achieved. This noise level is comparable to the level obtained when pumping a Nd:YVO(4) laser with a laser diode that is oscillating in a single longitudinal mode. However, a noise peak corresponding to relaxation oscillations of the Nd:YVO(4) laser has appeared around a frequency of several hundred kilohertz.  相似文献

We demonstrate 250 mW of single-frequency 532-nm output from a simple intracavity-doubled Nd:YVO(4) laser, pumped with 1.2 W from a fiber-coupled diode laser. The laser can be frequency chirped smoothly over ~17 GHz while maintaining a single-frequency green output of greater than 200 mW. A short Fabry-Perot cavity is used, and single-frequency operation is enforced by means of a birefringent filter that utilizes the birefringence of both the KTP doubling crystal and the Nd:YVO(4) laser crystal with polarization-dependent loss from a glass Brewster plate combined with polarization-dependent gain from the laser crystal.  相似文献

Based on analytical theory of anisotropy, distributions of thermal distortion and temperature field within a diode-end-pumped rectangular Nd:YVO(4) laser crystal are investigated. A thermal model that matches the actual working state of the laser crystal is established by analyzing the working characteristics of the Nd:YVO(4) laser crystal. A novel method, to the best of our knowledge, is adopted to solve the heat conduction equation of the anisotropic medium. General solutions of the temperature field, thermal strain field, and thermal distortion field of the Nd:YVO(4) crystal are obtained. The effect of anisotropic thermal parameters on the thermal strain field of the Nd:YVO(4) laser crystal is also analyzed quantitatively. Research results show that a maximum temperature rise of 244.9 degrees C and a maximum thermal distortion of 1.99 mum can be obtained in the center of the pump face when the Nd:YVO(4) laser crystal doped with 0.5 at. % Nd(3+) is diode end pumped in the center of the front end face with 15 W output power. This method can be applied to other thermal analyses of laser crystals and offers a theoretical basis to solve thermal problems effectively in the laser system.  相似文献

We demonstrate a multiwavelength laser in the green-yellow region by means of a diode-pumped neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser. This laser system combines a homemade 1074 nm and 1112 nm dual-wavelength laser with extracavity second harmonic generation (SHG) or sum-frequency generation in a lithium triborate crystal to generate visible output at any one of three wavelengths, 537 nm, 546 nm, and 556 nm, by simple temperature tuning, which has an important application in detecting carbon monoxide. The maximum average output power at the three wavelengths (537 nm, 546 nm, and 556 nm) was obtained to be 10.5 W, 0.5 W, and 8.5 W, respectively. The maximum SHG conversion efficiency from the infrared to the visible spectral region was about 51%.  相似文献

We demonstrate, for the first time as far as we know, a passively Q-switched operation of a Nd:YVO(4) laser in which a Cr(4+):YAG crystal and a laser-diode bar are used as the saturable absorber and the pump source, respectively. Stable laser pulses as short as 28 ns with 20-muJ energy can be generated with this laser, which has the advantages of simplicity, high efficiency, and good long-term stability.  相似文献

The longitudinal-mode stability of a single-frequency intracavity frequency-doubling laser can be enhanced by increasing the ratio between the nonlinear spectral bandwidth and the gain bandwidth of the laser. A 4 W long-term stable cw single-frequency green laser is obtained using an etalon inside the laser cavity as a spectral filter. No mode hopping is observed when the laser operates for 6 h and the power fluctuation is less than +/-1.2%. In contrast, in the situation of no etalon inside the laser cavity, mode hopping can be observed at irregular intervals and the power fluctuation is +/-3.8% when the laser operates for 4 h.  相似文献

A laser-diode-pumped Nd:YVO(4) microchip laser was built and actively frequency stabilized relative to a Fabry-Perot cavity with the frequency-modulated sideband technique. The error signal reaches the shot-noise level of 7.4 mHz/√Hz around 1 kHz. Excess intensity noise sets a lower limit of16.5 mHz/√Hz for the relative frequency noise, corresponding to a spectral linewidth of 860 μHz. We discuss the method for reconstructing the actual frequency deviation from the observed error signal.  相似文献

A diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser passively Q switched by a semiconductor absorber is demonstrated. The Q-switched operation of the laser has an average output power of 135 mW with a 1.6 W incident pump power. The minimum pulse width is measured to be about 8.3 ns with a repetition rate of 2 MHz. To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of a solid-state laser passively Q-switched by such a composite semiconductor absorber.  相似文献

A tunable external-cavity diode laser (ECDL) based on a transmission diffraction grating in a Littrow mount has been developed and characterized. A single-transverse-mode diode laser at 650 nm is used in an external-cavity configuration in which the transmission grating is used as a dispersive element to select the single longitudinal mode. The transmission diffraction grating is made with electron-beam lithography. A tunable true single-mode cw output power of >20 mW is obtained from the ECDL. The total wavelength tuning range is 12 nm, and the mode-hop-free continuous tunability is >20 GHz.  相似文献

Using a 1-W high-brightness laser diode as the pump source, we investigated the output characteristics of an intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:YVO(4)/KTP laser. Highly efficient operation was realized based on an optimized cavity design. The second-harmonic output power at 532 nm was measured to be 286.5 mW at an incident pump power of 881.4 mW, corresponding to an optical-to-optical efficiency of 32.5%.  相似文献

通过数值求解增益开关速率方程,模拟得到Nd:YVO4增益开关激光器输出脉宽和峰值功率随抽运条件的理论变化曲线,在此基础上提出了减小增益开关固体激光器输出脉宽的方法,即:令抽运源LD的直流驱动电流接近阈值,叠加脉冲电流高于2倍阈值,并调节抽运脉宽保证单脉冲激光输出。实验结果与理论曲线符合较好,证实了这一方法的有效性。利用此方法最终获得了脉宽20ns、重复频率在1Hz-4kHz精确可控的1.064μm脉冲激光输出。  相似文献
