We study an improved receiver with iterative channel estimation and decoding for wireless multipath channels with RAKE reception. To keep the complexity low, iterative channel estimation is done on the equivalent channel at the RAKE output. This letter analytically determines the effects of selective diversity on the performance of a RAKE receiver in dense multipath channels featuring an arbitrary power delay profile. The approach devised permits assessing the symbol-error probability of the RAKE receiver with simple computations, and determining the influence on system behavior of different power delay profiles and number of resolved paths, as well as signal bandwidth.  相似文献

We consider a RAKE receiver for coherent binary orthogonal signaling over a frequency selective multipath Rayleigh fading channel. The receiver uses maximal-ratio combining such that the weight estimation errors are not independent of the additive noise. We find the capacity-achieving energy randomization scheme with two energy levels for the cases of imperfect and perfect channel estimates. We observe that the capacity-achieving probability gets closer to 1/2 with increase in the number of paths. We also show that the capacity is higher if channel estimates are perfect and that the channel estimation errors have more pronounced effect on the capacity at low signal-to-noise ratios.  相似文献

介绍了一种基于现场可编程门阵列(FPGA)的Turbo码译码器的完整的设计方案和设计结果,采用Max-Log-MAP译码算法,用Verilog语言编程,提出了正序运算和逆序运算同时进行,以及采用数组型存储器存储中间运算结果的方案,使译码速度得到提高。文中给出了Turbo码译码原理、Max-Log-MAP算法分析、基于FPGA的设计方案及实现框图、算法时序图及速度分析、仿真波形图及性能分析,结果表明,该方案正确可行,译码/纠错正确无误,且译码速度快。  相似文献

We propose and analyze in this paper a new finger assignment technique that is applicable for RAKE receivers when they operate in the soft handover (SHO) region. This scheme employs a new version of generalized selection combining (GSC). More specifically, in the SHO region, the receiver uses by default only the strongest paths from the serving base station (BS) and only when the combined signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) falls below a certain pre-determined threshold, the receiver uses more resolvable paths from the target BS to improve the performance. Hence, relying on some recent results on order statistics we attack the statistics of two correlated GSC stages and provide the approximate but accurate closed-form expressions for the statistics of the output SNR. By investigating the tradeoff among the error performance, the path estimation load, and the SHO overhead, we show through numerical examples that the new scheme offers commensurate performance in comparison with more complicated GSC-based diversity systems while requiring a smaller estimation load and SHO overhead.  相似文献

A new technique for turbo decoder is proposed by using a local subsidiary maximum likelihood decoding and a probability distributions family for the extrinsic information. The optimal distribution of the extrinsic information is dynamically specified for each component decoder.The simulation results show that the iterative decoder with the new technique outperforms that of the decoder with the traditional Gaussian approach for the extrinsic information under the same conditions.  相似文献

Spread spectrum (SS) multiple access techniques have been proposed for third generation broadband wireless access. We develop an analytical framework to quantify the effects of spreading bandwidth on SS systems operating in dense multipath environments in terms of the receiver performance, receiver complexity, and multipath channel parameters. In particular, we consider wide-sense stationary uncorrelated scattering (WSSUS) Gaussian channels with frequency-selective fading. The focus of the paper is to characterize the combined signal of the RAKE receiver fingers tracking the strongest multipath components. Closed form expressions for the mean and the variance of the total RAKE receiver output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) are derived in terms of the number of RAKE fingers, spreading bandwidth, and multipath spread of the channel. The proposed problem is made analytically tractable by transforming the physical RAKE paths into the virtual path domain. A representative result indicates that for SS systems with 5 MHz signal bandwidth operating in a channel with constant power delay profile having 5 μs spread, the average SNR gain from increasing the number of RAKE fingers from one to three is 3.8 dB and from three to five is 1.5 dB. Building on the developments in the performance analysis of generalized selection combining (GSC), this paper examines the optimum spreading bandwidth for a fixed-complexity GSC diversity receiver operating over independent identically distributed Rayleigh paths. For this purpose, the study considers three performance criteria: (1) average combined signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the GSC output; (2) average bit error probability (BEP); and (3) outage probability of the instantaneous combined SNR at the GSC output. For the average BEP criterion, results are presented for both coherent and noncoherent combining. For the average combined SNR and some instances of the average BEP optimization problem, an accurate approximate estimate of this optimum bandwidth in the form of a solution of a transcendental equation is provided. In other cases, where the optimization is not easily tractable in an analytic fashion, a numeric-search procedure is used to find this optimum bandwidth for different performance criteria and system parameters of interest. Finally, simplified rule-of-thumb-type formulas are also presented as a good reference for picking the optimum spreading bandwidth given a set of system parameters and a particular performance criterion of interest  相似文献

A multichannel (MC) system with optimal diversity reception and erasures correcting decoding of a block code applied to a Rayleigh fading channel is considered. The bit-error rate (BER) as a function of the signal-to-noise ratio has been found. 该文首先分析了最大后敛概率(Maximum A posterior Probability, MAP)迭代均衡及其简化算法Max-Log- MAP(MLM)、缩放软信息的Max-Log-MAP算法(Scaled Max-Log-MAP,SMLM)对SNR估计误差的敏感性问题,然后利用SMLM算法对SNR估计误差不敏感的特性,提出了一种基于SMLM的软输出信息估计信道SNR的方法。最后,利用该算法,还提出了一种新的迭代均衡算法,并研究了其性能,结果表明该算法不仅不需要任何导引符号开销,还能获得非常接近具有理想的SNR的MAP算法的误码性能。  相似文献

We consider a RAKE receiver for coherent binary orthogonal signaling employing predetection maximal-ratio combining (MRC), in which the tap weights are estimated by adding two matched filtered outputs using the two reference signals. The weight estimation errors here are not independent of the additive channel noise, and therefore do not fit into the Gaussian error model for MRC. Instead of analyzing the distribution of the weight estimation errors, we find the characteristic function of the decision variable, and from it we obtain a formula for the symbol error probability  相似文献

Theoretically, it is necessary to estimate the SNR when using a MAP of the log-MAP constituent decoder. The effect of an SNR mismatch on the bit error rate performance of turbo-codes and the design of good variance estimators have been addressed by several authors. In this letter we study the SNR sensitivity of turbo-decoding with log-MAP and max-log-MAP constituent decoders respectively for AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels. Our theoretical and simulation results indicate that an estimation of the SNR is not necessary from a practical point of view. 在QPSK调制方式下,分别研究推导了基于辅助数据的极大似然比信噪比估计算法研究、基于矩的信噪比估计算法研究以及基于高阶累积量的信噪比估计算法。通过仿真比较了信噪比估计算法的性能,着重分析比较了采用的迭代次数及数据长度等参数对算法性能的影响,最终根据算法各自的特点给出了相应的适用范围。  相似文献
