本文提出了一种高次杂交四边形边缘元方法。讨论了这种高次杂交边缘元的有限元空间构造,给出了其形函数的显形表达式。这种方法不仅消除了伪解而且能直接求解传播常数,从而无需迭代便能分析有耗介质导波结构的传输特性。对矩形导和条形介质填充波导本征模传播常数的计算表明这种高次杂交边缘元的计算精度比低次杂交边缘元要高出一个量级。  相似文献

A simple method of solving the inverse medium problem in order to determine the complex dielectric constant of a lossy dielectric material at microwave frequencies is presented. The arbitrarily shaped dielectric sample placed in a rectangular waveguide is considered. Electromagnetic fields in the waveguide are expanded in series of harmonic functions. A set of linear equations is obtained using the finite–difference technique. An additional empirical condition, which is related to the measured reflection and/or transmission coefficients and results in an overdetermined system, is added and then the system is defined by the addition of a trivial extra parameter. The sample's dielectric properties are obtained by solving the resulting eigenvalue problem. An algorithm to extract proper results from the set of eigenvalues is defined by considering the properties of numerical solution. The system is tested by using an alternative method.  相似文献

A multipole analysis of a coaxial rectangular waveguide whose inner conductor is circular is made in order to determine the TE and TM modes of the system. The analysis is based on using multipole (dipole, quadrupole etc.) electric and magnetic current sources to generate field solutions in the waveguide. These solutions are used to match the electromagnetic boundary condition in a homogeneous coaxial rectangular waveguide and to determine the TE and TM eigenvalues of the waveguide system. Eigenvalue results are compared with results of the generalized spectral domain method and to eigenvalue results for a ridged waveguide. Propagation in a coaxial rectangular waveguide is also studied when the coaxial rectangular waveguide is loaded with lossy inhomogeneous dielectric material. A variational formula is used to relate the TEM, TE, and TM modes of an empty coaxial rectangular waveguide to the propagation in the loaded inhomogeneous dielectric waveguide  相似文献

The resonance method is applied to evaluate the impedances of the equivalent network for dielectric posts symmetrically located about a reference plane in a rectangular waveguide. Explicit relationships for the impedances of the equivalent lattice network of the posts in a rectangular waveguide are given in terms of the resonant frequencies of the rectangular cavity constructed by short-circuiting the waveguide at equal distances from the reference plane. A perturbational analysis is carried out to determine the resonant frequencies for a rectangular cavity loaded with slightly lossy circular posts whose largest cross-sectional dimensions are small compared with the wavelength. Sample numerical results for a single loss-free dielectric post illustrating the application of the derived expressions are given  相似文献

A new efficient high-order mixed-edge rectangular element method is proposed for the analysis of lossy anisotropic dielectric waveguides. The space construction of the high-order mixed-edge rectangular element is investigated and the explicit form of the shape function is given. The high-order mixed-edge element yields higher accuracy and faster convergence than the lowest order mixed-edge rectangular elements without spurious solutions, and is more efficient compared to the high-order covariant projection element. The computations of the propagation constants in the rectangular waveguide and the slab loaded waveguide show that the accuracy of this high-order mixed-edge element is about one order higher than that of the lowest order one, and the nodes used in the calculation are only two-thirds as many as those used in the high-order covariant projection element having the same accuracy. The calculations of the dispersion curves for the dominant mode in the waveguide loaded with the lossy anisotropic dielectric block verify the accuracy and efficiency of the present method  相似文献

This work concerns the electrical properties of waveguide applicators consisting of flanged rectangular waveguides filled with a dielectric, used in medical applications (microwave thermography and local hyperthermia). The reflection coefficient and the near field configuration in lossy materials were obtained in some cases analytically and in some other cases numerically. The validity of these methods was verified experimentally. The study shows that the matching of the applicator and the penetration depth in a lossy material, such as a living tissue, depend not only on the tissue characteristics but also on the characteristics of the applicator itself.  相似文献

A numerical method is formulated for the analysis of H-plane waveguide junctions with arbitrary cross sections. The junctions are loaded with arbitrarily shaped dielectric or ferrite. The method is a combination of the finite-element method and the boundary-element method, and is applied to the regions with and without dielectric or ferrite, respectively. To show the validity and usefulness of the method, a lossy dielectric post and a ferrite slab in a rectangular waveguide are investigated in detail, and the computed results are compared with earlier theoretical and experimental results  相似文献

An efficient computer-aided solution procedure based on the finite-element method is developed for solving general waveguiding structures composed of lossy materials. In this procedure, a formulation in terms of the transverse magnetic-field components is adopted and the eigenvalue of the final matrix equation corresponds to the propagation constant itself. Thus, it is possible to avoid the unnecessary iteration using complex frequencies. To demonstrate the strength of the presented method, numerical results for a rectangular waveguide filled with lossy dielectric are presented and compared with exact solutions. The principal formulations that have been proposed for finding the modes of waveguides by the finite element method are reviewed and compared. In each case, it is shown how Maxwell's equations may be reduced to matrix form using the method of weighted residuals. The formulations are compared from several points of view: their ability to handle spurious modes, lossy materials, and reentrant corners; the number of field components; and the properties of the matrices. Three benchmark problems are described and used to compare the formulations: a rectangular waveguide partially loaded with lossless dielectric; an air-filled, double-ridged waveguide; and a shielded image guide with either lossless or lossy dielectric  相似文献

A widely used device for biomedical applications of microwave energy is the dielectric-loaded waveguide operating in the TE/sub 10/ mode. We have calculated the (1/e) energy penetration depth from such antennas, modeled as rectangular apertures radiating into a lossy medium with dielectric properties resembling those of tissue. The results are presented in nondimensional form from which the characteristics of practical antennas can be estimated. Depending on the dielectric properties of the medium and the size of the aperture, the effective penetration depth can be limited by either the aperture size or the plane-wave penetration depth practical antennas fall between these two extremes. Numerical and experimental results of a microwave noncontact, nondestructive detection and evaluation of disbonds and thickness variations in stratified composite media are presented. The aperture admittance characteristics of a flange mounted rectangular waveguide radiating into a layered, generally lossy dielectric media backed or unbacked by a conducting sheet is modeled. The theoretical implementation is based on a Fourier transform boundary matching technique to construct the field components in each medium, coupled with a stationary form of the terminating aperture admittance of the waveguide. The model can serve as a reliable test bed for real-time examination of layered composite media. Experimental results for several cases are presented which show good agreement with the theoretical findings. This is a versatile technique for near-field in situ interrogation of stratified composite media which provides for high resolution measurements  相似文献

A metal cylindrical waveguide coated with an inside layer of lossy dielectric which affects the propagation characteristics of a guided electromagnetic mode is investigated for gyrotron-traveling-wave tube (gyro-TWT) amplifier applications. This paper reveals a series of novel phenomena. The dispersion curve of a higher order mode has a turning point during its evolvement from the fast wave region to the slow wave region. An electromagnetic mode in the lossy dielectric-coated waveguide exhibits a transverse partial-standing-wave distribution. The dielectric loss induces modal transition which results in the dispersion curves of a pair of nearby modes crossing each other and interchanging mode structures. Modal reduction caused by strong dielectric loss merges a pair of nearby modes into one. In this one merged mode, the dielectric-coated waveguide is equivalent to a conventional cylindrical waveguide with imperfect conducting wall. This improved understanding of lossy dielectric-coated metal cylindrical waveguide is of value and usefulness for application toward gyro-TWTs capable of high-power and wide bandwidth.  相似文献

Shooting methods are used to analyze rectangular waveguides containing inhomogeneous lossy dielectrics. The technique obtains the electromagnetic fields inside the waveguide by solving Maxwell's equations using trial and error procedures to match the boundary conditions at the conducting waveguide surface. Dispersion and attenuation curves are obtained which show how continuous dielectric inhomogeneities and losses affect the transmission characteristics of these waveguides.  相似文献

A new type of radio frequency (RF) excited waveguide laser with a rectangular cross section is proposed which is composed of two dielectric or lossy materials and two metallic electrodes which are coated by a thin film with small absorptions. Theoretical and experimental analyses show that the maximum output powers of the new waveguide laser are much larger than those of conventional ones.  相似文献

The equivalent T-network for some lossy dielectric posts in a rectangular waveguide is found to have a negative resistance in the parallel arm although the realizability conditions for the impedance matrix are strictly satisfied. Furthermore, the reactive part of the same impedance is found to be a monotonically decreasing function of frequency. These difficulties are overcome in the case of symmetrical post structures by using lattice networks. A simplified lattice network of lumped elements is developed to approximately realize the impedance matrix for resonant lossy post structures in the bandwidth  相似文献

The scattering characteristics of 3-D discontinuity consisting of II-VI-epitaxial layer grown on lossy dielectric substrate inserted in the waveguide with gaps are investigated in detail by the method which combines the multimode network theory with the rigorous mode matching procedure. Electromagnetic fields in a rectangular waveguide containing a lossy dielectric cylinder are investigated by means of the orthogonal expansion method. The calculated results are provided by measurement. Resonance effects become visible through the frequency responses of the scattering parameters and understandable by patterns due to magnetic fields and Poynting vectors. The lowest resonance is nonsymmetric and can be used to realize tunable bandstop filters with a relative 3-dB bandwidth of about 0.04 and an attenuation of more than 40 dB  相似文献
