This paper presents an integrated approach for Web-based collaborative manufacturing, including distributed process planning, dynamic scheduling, real-time monitoring, and remote control. It is enabled by a Web-based integrated sensor-driven e-ShopFloor (Wise-ShopFloor) framework targeting distributed yet collaborative manufacturing environments. Utilizing the latest Java technologies (Java 3D and Java Servlet) for system implementation, this approach allows users to plan and control distant shop floor operations based on runtime information from the shop floor. The objective of this research is to develop methodology and algorithms for Web-based collaborative planning and control, supported by real-time monitoring for dynamic scheduling. Details on the principle of the Wise-ShopFloor framework, system architecture, and a proof-of-concept prototype are reported in this paper. An example of distributed process planning for remote machining is chosen as a case study to demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach toward Web-based collaborative manufacturing. 相似文献

The integration of robotics, conveyors, sensors, and programmable logic controllers into manufacturing and material handling processes requires engineers with technical skills and expertise in these systems. The coordination of assembly operations and supervisory control demands familiarity with mechanical and electrical design, instrumentation, actuators, and computer programming for successful system development. This paper presents an educational mechatronics laboratory that encourages multi-disciplinary hands-on engineering discovery within team settings. Three focused progressive experiments are reviewed that allow students to program and operate a programmable logic controller, a traditional conveyor system, and a distributed servo-motor based conveyor. The students also program and implement two robotic arms for material handling applications. The equipment, learning objectives, and experimental methodology for each laboratory are discussed to offer insight. A collaborative design project case study is presented in which student teams create a smart material handling system. Overall, engineering graduates have generally been required to learn material handling and other multi-disciplinary concepts in the field, and therefore, a well-rounded engineering curriculum should incorporate mechatronics in both the classroom and laboratory. 相似文献

在分析分布式曲面设计和快速原型制造特点的基础上,建立了曲面协同设计和快速原型制造的基础信息框架.针对自由曲面的设计要求和快速原型制造的特点,提出了采用三角网格模型作为曲面的描述方式.此描述方法分别采用自定义数据格式T和CMESH作为系统格式和网络传输格式,采用STL格式作为快速原型制造的数据格式.在设计了三种数据的转换方法后,通过实验验证了文中所提模型描述方法,实验表明,采用此方法可以使网络数据传输量减少为1/12,满足分布式曲面设计和快速原型制造的要求. 相似文献

The Engineering Research Center, the central manufacturing research laboratory of the Western Electric Co., uses two personnel programs to enhance cooperative efforts with manufacturing locations. A rotational program brings manufacturing engineers to the Center on 2-yr assignments, and an intern program sends Center engineers and scientists on temporary assignments to manufacturing locations. A new DTPP (Desk-Top Program Production) system has been developed that enables multiple program producers (directors) working at different locations to collaborate over a computer network and prepare a single program for broadcasting. In this system, information is shared among users by exchanging data edited on nonlinear editing terminals in program post-production work over a network in real time. In short, the new DTPP system provides a collaborative work space for producing TV programs. The system does not make use of a special server for collaborative work but rather multiple interconnected editing terminals having the same functions. In this configuration, data at a terminal which has just been edited by some operation is forwarded to all other connected terminals for updating. This form of information sharing, however, requires that some sort of data synchronizing method be established since multiple terminals are operating on the same data simultaneously. We therefore adopt a method whereby the system synchronizes the clocks on each terminal at the time of connection and sends an operation time stamp together with the edited data. This enables the most recently modified data to be identified and all information on all terminals to be updated appropriately. The remarkable scientific progress that has been made in the Magnetic Fusion Energy Program since its inception 40 years ago is reviewed. This formalized international collaborative effort of design and development for a 1000-MW experimental reactor (ITER) has been entered into by the United States, Russia, Japan, and the European Community. In the United States, a national project to build a superconducting steady-state advanced tokamak (SSAT) to improve the reactor prospects of fusion is underway. Beginning with a quick summary of fundamentals, progress in research is traced through major steps in the program. Various philosophical approaches to bioengineering education result in the development of different pathways and programs. The basic underlying assumptions of the University of Washington program are presented along with a discussion of the operation of a nondepartmental approach. Undergraduate and graduate education are discussed in the context of preparing the engineer for participation in collaborative teams. A key element in the success of such teams is the introduction of the physician or life scientist to the principles of engineering. Europe saw two major initiatives in the mid-1980's to verify the viability of 20-50 GHz frequency bands for high capacity radio transmission. The first was the experimental telecommunication satellite OLYMPUS commissioned by the European Space Agency; the second was the ITALSAT program planned by the Italian Space Agency. Both spacecraft were equipped with highly stable propagation beacon payloads for accurate measurement of propagation conditions. Two international groups of experimenters (OPEX for OLYMPUS and CEPIT for ITALSAT), who had agreed on a set of common procedures for the earth stations' design, experiment management, and comparison of results, carried out the propagation measurements in a collaborative manner. This paper investigates the problem of grouping different customer orders into jobs and these formed jobs to batches and scheduling them on a single batch processing machine to minimize the total weighted tardiness of orders. A compatible batching environment is considered in which there is no restriction on the orders being from the same family to be batched together. A mixed-integer program (MIP) is developed and tested. The compatible MIP model takes 1 + h, on average, to solve an instance. A new simulated annealing-based heuristic solves compatible problems to within 4% of optimality in a few minutes. This fast, near optimal performance suggests that these heuristics may be viable for implementation in practical manufacturing settings, such as burn-in operations in the back end of the semiconductor manufacturing process 相似文献

The wave of a knowledge economy drives today's education to equip students with knowledge building abilities. While collaborative learning has been proven to be an effective constructivist pedagogy, it is difficult to elicit, coordinate, and capture the corresponding knowledge construction process. The situation becomes more challenging when learning is conducted in a distributed environment in which the participants are scattered in different geographical locations. In this paper, we depict the theories, architecture, applications, and analysis of a Web-based computer-supported collaborative learning and knowledge-building system called Knowledge Community (KC), which currently serves a series of 3I (interdisciplinary, interschool, and international) Project Learning activities with more than 10 000 students and teachers participating globally. We also describe the corresponding 3I Project Learning model, a novel technology-enabled pedagogy in which learners perform collaborative, comparative study projects with peers from other countries. Technologically, KC is the use of Web technologies to provide a collaborative learning environment. Pedagogically, KC with its embedded learning theories has created a new learning culture that meets the demands of knowledge economy. 相似文献

Today??s economical cycles challenge the test program generation process for semiconductors with regard to productivity, time-to-market, increasing quality requirements and manufacturing robustness, while, at the same time, the complexity of the system-on-a-chip mixed-signal integrated circuits to be tested increases significantly. Furthermore, commercial challenges in combination with competitive advantage become an important factor, not only within semiconductor manufacturing, but also within test program development. This paper provides a review of these challenges, and how they might be addressed. We first give a short introduction and background on semiconductor testing and test development with the focus on mixed-signal and systems-on-chip. This is followed by current roadmaps and considerations for test program software development. Based on the highlighted strength and weaknesses of the reviewed approaches, the authors conclude with some recommendations to address these challenges by adopting software engineering methods for the test program development process. 相似文献
