In recent decades, the consequences of climate changes due to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have become ever more impactful, forcing international authorities to find green solutions for sustainable economic development. In this regard, one of the global targets is the reduction of fossil fuels utilization in the transport sector to encourage the diffusion of more environmentally friendly alternatives. Among them, hydrogen is emerging as a viable candidate since it is a potentially emission-free fuel when produced by exploiting renewable energy sources (RES). Nevertheless, to allow widespread use of this gas in the transport sector, several technoeconomic barriers, including production cost, and lack of distribution and storage infrastructure, have to be overcome. Distributed hydrogen production via renewable energy-powered electrolysis could be an effective solution to reduce cost and lead to economies of scale. In this study a multi-hub configuration with on-site production from PV-powered electrolysis and centralized production from steam methane reforming (SMR) is proposed. In particular, an infrastructure network for a bus refueling station located in Lazio is considered as a case study. First, each hub, composed of PV panels, an electrolyzer, a compression system, high-pressure and low-pressure storages, and hydrogen dispensers with chiller, is modeled in a Matlab/Simulink environment. Then, a design perturbation analysis is carried out to determine the impact of the configuration on the refueling station performance in terms of carbon emissions levels and the Levelized Cost of hydrogen (LCOH). The results show a significant influence of the station size on the economic performance highlighting significant benefits (reduction up to 40% in the LCOH) for a 80 bus HUB with a saturating trend towards larger sizes. CO2 emissions per unit mass of hydrogen are kept limited for all the stations thanks to the synergistic effects of SMR and Electrolyzer. Interconnecting more than one station each other further benefits can be achieved from the environmental perspective (savings up to 5 tons of CO2 are demonstrated for a typical summer case study).  相似文献

Using skid-mounted natural gas to hydrogen generator in hydrogen refueling station can significantly reduce the cost of hydrogen. In 2021, China successfully built the first 250 Nm3/h on-site skid-mounted natural gas to hydrogen generator, which was successfully debug-ed in Foshan, providing hydrogen products with purity ≥99.999% for FCVs. This paper summarized the technological process and development, analyzed the risk and the safety design of skid-mounted natural gas to hydrogen generator. Several key factors affecting compactness are analyzed, including process and technical route, reforming reformer and catalyst, heat exchange network, heat exchanger and steam generation system, PSA unit and overall integrated design, etc. In addition, innovative strategies to optimize the compactness of the device are given from the aspects of process flow, reforming reformer and steam generation system.The suggestions are put forward for the development and application of on-site skid-mounted natural gas to hydrogen generator.  相似文献

Al-water reaction for hydrogen production faces the problems of long induction time and low conversion efficiency at low temperature (below 273.15 K), which has seriously limited its applications. To realize the instant hydrogen production of Al composites at low temperature, low melting point metals (Ga, In, Sn) and additives (NaCl, g-C3N4, LiH) were selected to prepare Al composites with high reactivity. Compared with the other Al composites, Al alloy/NaCl/LiH/g-C3N4 composites exhibit the enhanced low temperature hydrogen production performance in 23 wt% NaCl aqueous solution at 253.15 K. For all Al alloy/NaCl/LiH/g-C3N4 composites, the induction time of Al-water reaction at 253.15 K has completely eliminated. The highest hydrogen generation volume of 1095 mL·gAl?1 and the maximum hydrogen generation rate of 120 mL·gAl?1·s?1 were obtained for Al alloy/NaCl/1.5%LiH/g-C3N4 composite. It is proposed that LiH can induce Al-water reaction instantly starting at 253.15 K. The released heat and micro alkaline environment further promote the Al-water reaction and enhance the hydrogen conversion efficiency. In particular, g-C3N4 additive can improve the antioxidant properties of Al composites. This study provides a novel way for the development and application of Al composites in real-time hydrogen production at low temperature.  相似文献

In this work, a new model for producing hydrogen from a low enthalpy geothermal source was presented. Thermal energy from geothermal sources can be converted into electric power by using thermoelectric modules instead of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) machines, especially for low geothermal temperatures. This electrical energy uses the water electrolysis process to produce hydrogen. Simulation and experiments for the thermoelectric module in this system were undertaken to assess the efficiency of these models. TRNSYS software is used to simulate the system in Hammam Righa spa, the temperature of this spring is 70 °C. Obtained results reveal that in hammam righa spa in Algeria, 0.5652 Kg hydrogen per square meter of thermoelectric generator (TEG) can be produced in one year.  相似文献

This article examines the additional profit that can be achieved with the integrated operation of an on-site electrolyser, a hydrogen tank, a photovoltaic system, and a wind power plant based on Hungarian data from 2019. The results of the optimisation show that the system economically reduces the volatility of weather-dependent renewable production, so there is a promising demand-side management potential in coordination. We found that the operating profit is highest in April at EUR 19,416, 18,932 in July, and lowest at EUR 17,075 in January. The production curve of photovoltaic capacities is better matched to fuel demand, so increasing the share of solar energy results in lower balancing activity but higher profits. Increasing the size of the hydrogen storage and electrolyser, with constant hydrogen demand and prices, will cause a convergent increase in profits, however above a 10 kg storage capacity or 350 kW electrolyser capacity there is no substantial profit increase. In the case of the economically optimal asset size, there is a slight competition between the electricity market and the hydrogen distribution activity. The choice between the two activities depends on current electricity and hydrogen prices and the cost of unmet hydrogen demand.  相似文献

On-site hydrogen production via catalytic ammonia decomposition presents an attractive pathway to realize H2 economy and to mitigate the risk associated with storing large amounts of H2. This work reports the synthesis and characterization of a dual-layer hollow fiber catalytic membrane reactor for simultaneous NH3 decomposition and H2 permeation application. Such hollow fiber was synthesized via single-step co-extrusion and co-sintering method and constitutes of 26 μm-thick mixed protonic-electronic conducting Nd5.5Mo0.5W0.5O11.25-δ (NMW) dense H2 separation layer and Nd5.5Mo0.5W0.5O11.25-δ-Ni (NMW-Ni) porous catalytic support. This dual-layer NMW/NMW-Ni hollow fiber exhibited H2 permeation flux of 0.26 mL cm−2 min−1 at 900 °C when 50 mL min−1 of 50 vol% H2 in He was used as feed gas and 50 mL min−1 N2 was used as sweep gas. Membrane reactor based on dual-layer NMW/NMW-Ni hollow fiber achieved NH3 conversion of 99% at 750 °C, which was 24% higher relative to the packed-bed reactor with the same reactor volume. Such higher conversion was enabled by concurrent H2 extraction out of the membrane reactor during the reaction. This membrane reactor also maintained stable NH3 conversion and H2 permeation flux as well as structure integrity over 75 h of reaction at 750 °C.  相似文献

Partial oxidation of ethanol was performed in a dense Pd–Ag membrane reactor over Rh/Al2O3 catalyst in order to produce a pure or, at least, COx-free hydrogen stream for supplying a PEM fuel cell. The membrane reactor performances have been evaluated in terms of ethanol conversion, hydrogen yield, COx-free hydrogen recovery and gas selectivity working at 450 °C, GHSV ∼ 1300 h−1, O2:C2H5OH feed molar ratio varying between 0.33:1 and 0.62:1 and in a reaction pressure range from 1.0 to 3.0 bar. As a result, complete ethanol conversion was achieved in all the experimental tests. A small amount of C2H4 and C2H4O formation was observed during reaction. At low pressure and feed molar ratio, H2 and CO are mainly produced, while at stronger operating conditions CH4, CO2 and H2O are prevalent compounds. However, in all the experimental tests no carbon formation was detected. As best results of this work, complete ethanol conversion and more than 40.0% COx-free hydrogen recovery were achieved.  相似文献

The expected increase of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles has motivated the emergence of a significant number of studies on Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (HRS). Some of the main HRS topics are sizing, location, design optimization, and optimal operation. On-site green HRS, where hydrogen is produced locally from green renewable energy sources, have received special attention due to their contribution to decarbonization. This kind of HRS are complex systems whose hydraulic and electric linked topologies include renewable energy sources, electrolyzers, buffer hydrogen tanks, compressors and batteries, among other components. This paper develops a linear model of a real on-site green HRS that is set to be built in Zaragoza, Spain. This plant can produce hydrogen either from solar energy or from the utility grid and is designed for three different types of services: light-duty and heavy-duty fuel cell vehicles and gas containers. In the literature, there is a lack of online control solutions developed for HRS, even more in the form of optimal online control. Hence, for the HRS operation, a Model Predictive Controller (MPC) is designed to solve a weighted multi-objective online optimization problem taking into account the plant dynamics and constraints as well as the disturbances prediction. Performance is analysed throughout 210 individual month-long simulations and the effect of the multi-objective weighting, prediction horizon, and hydrogen selling price is discussed. With the simulation results, this work shows the suitability of MPC for HRS control and its significant economic advantage compared to the rule-based control solution. In all simulations, the MPC operation fulfils all required services. Moreover, results show that a seven-day prediction horizon can improve profits by 57% relative to a one-day prediction horizon; that the battery is under-sized; or that the MPC operation strategy is more resolutive for low hydrogen selling prices.  相似文献

Although many studies have looked at safety issues relating to hydrogen fueling stations, few studies have analyzed the security risks, such as deliberate attack of the station by threats such as terrorists and disgruntled employees. The purpose of this study is to analyze security risks for a hydrogen fueling station with an on-site production of hydrogen from methylcyclohexane. We qualitatively conducted a security risk analysis using American Petroleum Institute Standard 780 as a reference for the analysis. The analysis identified 93 scenarios, including pool fires. We quantitatively simulated a pool fire scenario unique to the station to analyze attack consequences. Based on the analysis and the simulation, we recommend countermeasures to prevent and mitigate deliberate attacks.  相似文献

This paper examines the direct induction of a low voltage in a rotating electrode by outside magnets in hydrogen production. Possible gains include the absence of a generator, transformer and rectifier.Two configurations were experimentally examined. In the first (A), a disc was rotated at 2000–3000 rpm in a field around 0.9 T. The hydrogen-oxygen production was measured as a function of rotation speed.In a second (B), a permanent magnet was placed at each end of a propeller, which was made to rotate. The poles of the magnet passed over a series of conductors, themselves separated into groups. The pulsed potential induced in each group was applied directly to a conventional electrochemical cell, to produce H2 and O2.An economic gain in electrolysis by the use of homopolar generators seem difficult to realize using permanent high-strength magnets, but reduction in cost of equipment by around 50% appear likely using electromagnets.  相似文献

On-site produced hydrogen from ammonia decomposition can directly fuel solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) for power generation. The key issue in ammonia decomposition is to improve the activity and stability of the reaction at low temperatures. In this study, proton-conducting oxides, Ba(Zr,Y) O3-δ (BZY), were investigated as potential support materials to load Ni metal by a one-step impregnation method. The influence of Ni loading, Ba loading, and synthesis temperature, of Ni/BZY catalysts on the catalytic activity for ammonia decomposition were investigated. The Ni/BZY catalyst with Ba loading of 20 wt%, Ni loading of 30 wt%, and synthesized at 900 °C attained the highest ammonia conversion of 100% at 600 °C. The kinetics analysis revealed that for Ni/BZY catalyst, the hydrogen poisoning effect for ammonia decomposition was significantly suppressed. The reaction order of hydrogen for the optimized Ni/BZY catalyst was estimated as low as ?0.07, which is the lowest to the best of our knowledge, resulting in the improvement in the activity. H2 temperature programmed reduction and desorption analysis results suggested that a strong interaction between Ni and BZY support as well as the hydrogen storage capability of the proton-conducting support might be responsible for the promotion of ammonia decomposition on Ni/BZY. Based on the experimental data, a mechanism of hydrogen spillover from Ni to BZY support is proposed.  相似文献

A demonstration of the Hydro Q-BiC®, i.e., a pilot-scale green hydrogen energy utilization system consisting of 64.75-kW photovoltaic (PV) panels, a 5-Nm3/h water electrolyzer, 40 Nm3 of metal hydride hydrogen storage, 14-kW fuel cells, and 20-kW/20-kWh Li-ion batteries, is discussed here. We set up our hydrogen system in front of a market administration building with demands that differ from those of a typical business building. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the practicability of the green hydrogen system. The demonstration tests include 24-h experiments with various weather conditions: clear, cloudy, and clear to rainy; the CO2 reduction capability evaluation is based on the results. In all cases, the CO2 reduction capability is shown to be better than that of the PV-only system. However, the utilization of grid power for hydrogen production is proven to be of concern in the event of drastic and unexpected changes in weather conditions. Simulating annual CO2 emissions indicates that the Hydro Q-BiC® can reduce emissions by more than 50%. We believe our findings can develop the practical application of hydrogen energy systems for buildings.  相似文献

A novel metal-based modular microstructured reactor with integrated Pd membrane for hydrogen production by methane steam reforming is presented. Thin Pd foils with a thickness of 12.5 μm were leak-tight integrated with laser welding between microstructured plates. The laser-welded membrane modules showed ideal H2/N2 permselectivities between 16,000 and 1000 at 773 K and 6 bar retentate pressure. An additional metal microsieve support coated with an YSZ diffusion barrier layer (DBL) facilitated the operation at temperatures up to 873 K and pressures up to 20 bar pressure difference. The membrane permeability in this configuration is expressed with Q = 1.58E-07*exp(−1460.2/T) mol/(msPa0.5).  相似文献

Hydrogen refueling infrastructures with on-site production from renewable sources are an interesting solution for assuring green hydrogen with zero CO2 emissions. The main problem of these stations development is the hydrogen cost that depends on both the plant size (hydrogen production capacity) and on the renewable source.In this study, a techno-economic assessment of on-site hydrogen refueling stations (HRS), based on grid-connected PV plants integrated with electrolysis units, has been performed. Different plant configurations, in terms of hydrogen production capacity (50 kg/day, 100 kg/day, 200 kg/day) and the electricity mix (different sharing of electricity supply between the grid and the PV plant), have been analyzed in terms of electric energy demands and costs.The study has been performed by considering the Italian scenario in terms of economic streams (i.e. electricity prices) and solar irradiation conditions.The levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH), that is the more important indicator among the economic evaluation indexes, has been calculated for all configurations by estimating the investment costs, the operational and maintenance costs and the replacement costs.Results highlighted that the investment costs increase proportionally as the electricity mix changes from Full Grid operation (100% Grid) to Low Grid supply (25% Grid) and as the hydrogen production capacity grows, because of the increasing in the sizes of the PV plant and the HRS units. The operational and maintenance costs are the main contributor to the LCOH due to the annual cost of the electricity purchased from the grid.The calculated LCOH values range from 9.29 €/kg (200 kg/day, 50% Grid) to 12.48 €/kg (50 kg/day, 100% Grid).  相似文献

Using solid oxide membrane, this paper presents the theoretical modeling of the high temperature electrolysis of hydrogen bromide gas for hydrogen production. The electrolysis of hydrogen halides such as hydrogen bromide is an attractive process, which can be coupled to hybrid thermochemical cycles. The high temperature electrolyzer model developed in the present study includes concentration, ohmic, and activation losses. Exergy efficiency, as well as energy efficiency parameters, are used to express the thermodynamic performance of the electrolyzer. Moreover, a detailed parametric study is performed to observe the effects of various parameters such as current density and operating temperature on the overall system behavior. The results show that in order to produce 1 mol of hydrogen, 1.1 V of the applied potential is required, which is approximately 0.8 V less compared to high temperature steam electrolysis under same conditions (current density of 1000 A/m2 and temperature of 1073 K). Furthermore, it is found that with the use of the presented electrolyzer, one can achieve energy and exergy efficiencies of about 56.7% and 53.8%, respectively. The results presented in this study suggest that, by employing the proposed electrolyzer, two-step thermochemical cycle for hydrogen production may become more attractive especially for nuclear- and concentrated solar-to-hydrogen conversion applications.  相似文献

The benefits of CO2 sorption enhanced steam reforming using calcined dolomite were demonstrated for the production of hydrogen from highly oxygenated pyrolysis oils of the agricultural waste palm empty fruit bunches (PEFB) and pine wood. At 1 atm in a down-flow packed bed reactor at 600 °C, the best molar steam to carbon ratios were between 2 and 3 using a Ni catalyst. After incorporating steam-activated calcined dolomite as the CO2 sorbent in the reactor bed, the H2 yield from the moisture free PEFB oil increased from 9.5 to 10.4 wt.% while that of the pine oil increased from 9.9 to 13.9 wt.%. The hydrogen purity also rose from 68 to 96% and from 54 to 87% for the PEFB and pine oils respectively, demonstrating very substantial sorption enhancement effects.  相似文献

An experiment assessment of hydrogen production from activated aluminum alloy in portable hydrogen generator for fuel cell applications was investigated. The optimum hydrogen capacity of the high–reactive Al–Bi–NaCl alloys (the abbreviation of milled material of aluminum, bismuth and NaCl particles) is about 9–9.4 wt.%, meeting the targets (9 wt.%) of the US Department of Energy in 2015. Hydrogen production rate can be controlled via controlling the water flow rate in the generator, being 1.369–6.198 L hydrogen/min while the water flow rate ranges in 5–20 mL/min. The larger water flow rate often leads to higher temperature and results in unsafety in the generator as the hydrolysis reaction of aluminum alloy and water releases 15 kJ/g heat. However, the heat problem can be successfully eliminated by using effective cooling stytles, which enable the maximum temperature of Al–H2O mixture (the abbreviation of hydrolysis products of aluminum alloy in water) controlled less than 474 K even though the water flow rate is 20 mL/min. Therefore, the experiment results show that the portable hydrogen generator from aluminum alloy could supply the CO2–free, high hydrogen capacity and safe hydrogen for fuel cell applications.  相似文献
