Milk production response to dietary forage:grain ratio   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Forty-four multiparous and 49 primiparous Holstein cows were assigned randomly at parturition to one of five diets differing in forage:grain ratio and studied for the entire lactation for effects of diet on milk production and milk composition, body condition, BW gain, health, and reproductive performance. Total mixed rations fed once daily consisted of alfalfa silage, high moisture ear corn, soybean meal, vitamins, and minerals. Percentages of forage in the diet (dry basis) for treatments 1 to 5 were postpartum wk 1 to 12 (38.2, 48.2, 58.2, 68.2, and 98.2); wk 13 to 26 (48.2, 58.2, 68.2, 88.2, and 98.2); and wk 27 to 44 (68.2, 78.2, 88.2, 98.2, and 98.2). Milk production (3.5% FCM in 305 d) was 8295, 8659, 7563, 6849, and 6000 kg for multiparous cows in treatments 1 to 5, respectively, and 7334, 7177, 6976, 6014, and 4750 kg for primiparous cows. Primiparous cows had decreased milk protein, BW gain, DMI and gross feed efficiency as forage increased in the diet. Multiparous cows in treatment 1 had depressed milk fat and lower DMI and gross feed efficiency compared with other treatments. Body condition scores tended to be lower as forage increased in the diet with both age groups. Increased forage in the diet did not cause any adverse effects on health and reproductive performance in either age group.  相似文献

This study compared the effects of exogenous bovine somatotropin (bST) on the metabolism and ovarian activity of cows fed diets differing in ruminally degradable starch. Twenty-four multiparous and eight primiparous Holstein cows in early lactation were divided into four groups and fed diets containing 39% grain as steam-flaked sorghum or steam-rolled corn with or without bST for 90 d in a 2 x 2 factorial design. Flaked sorghum improved energy status of cows during early lactation, tending to increase plasma glucose and insulin. Administration of bST decreased plasma urea nitrogen and increased nonesterified fatty acids (NEFA). Plasma levels of beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHBA) and hepatic concentrations of triglycerides were not altered by treatments. Temporal changes in plasma glucose, urea nitrogen, NEFA, and BHBA were detected in a quadratic manner and insulin increased linearly with time, but treatments did not affect postpartum changes in these metabolites. There were greater decreases in body weight and net energy balance in cows on bST during the first 7 wk of treatment. Cows receiving bST took longer to reach the nadir of negative energy balance, and bST tended to delay the period to reach a positive energy balance. Follicular populations and incidence of cystic ovaries were not affected by treatments, but cows receiving bST had fewer double ovulations. Flaked sorghum increased plasma progesterone during the early luteal phase of the first two postpartum estrous cycles. Feeding more ruminally degradable starch improved the energy status and luteal activity of cows in early lactation.  相似文献

Thirty multiparous lactating Holstein cows were blocked according to time of calving and assigned to a 2 x 3 factorial arrangement of treatments in a randomized complete block design to evaluate the effects of two dietary energy concentrations either without or with bST (20.6 mg/d per cow) administered to cows that had not or had received bST during the preceding lactation. Subcutaneous injection of bST began 28 to 35 d postpartum and continued for 39 wk. The dietary energy concentration x bST interaction was not significant for any response variable. Compared with DMI of control cows, DMI was higher for cows receiving bST, being 1.6 and 2.4 kg/d higher for cows receiving bST for one and two lactations, respectively. Milk, fat, and protein yields were higher for cows receiving bST than for controls. Those receiving bST for a second lactation also produced more milk than controls until wk 20; thereafter, milk yields were similar to those of controls. Somatotropin administration had no adverse effect on udder health. Cows receiving bST tended to ovulate less regularly than controls, which may be attributed to their higher milk yield. However, BW gains during lactation were similar for all treatments, indicating that bST-treated cows built energy reserves for the subsequent lactation. Although energy concentrations of the diets had no significant impact on yield, the higher energy diet tended to depress milk fat concentration. Administration of bST to dairy cows for a second, consecutive lactation yielded responses similar for the first 20 wk of the study to those receiving bST for the first time. However, after wk 20, milk yield was less than that by cows receiving bST for the first lactation but similar to that of control cows.  相似文献

This study compared effects of exogenous bovine somatotropin (bST) on the performance of early lactation cows fed diets differing in ruminally degradable starch. Thirty-two Holstein cows (24 multiparous) in early lactation (5 d in milk) were divided into four groups and fed diets containing 39% grain as steam-flaked sorghum or steam-rolled corn with or without exogenous bST for 90 d. Grain processing did not affect dry matter intake as a percentage of body weight or yields of milk, but steam-rolled corn improved efficiency of feed utilization during the first 45 d of the study. Cows receiving bST had lower dry matter intake during the first 45 d of treatment. Milk yield and efficiency of feed utilization were increased by bST treatment, and milk yield response was greater during the first half than during the second half of the study. Milk composition and yield of milk components did not differ among treatments. Flaked sorghum increased in vitro starch hydrolysis and digestibilities of dry matter, organic matter, and starch, but neither method of grain processing nor bST affected digestibilities of crude protein, acid detergent fiber, or neutral detergent fiber. Grain type did not affect milk yield, and responses to bST were lower from 7 to 13 wk than from 1 to 6 wk prepartum.  相似文献

Dry periods of 40 to 60 d have been an industry standard because dry periods <40 d have resulted in reduced milk yields in the subsequent lactation by 10 to 30%. However, recent research has demonstrated no production losses for cows given a 30-d dry period. The current study evaluated milk production effects of shortened or omitted dry periods for cows at mature-equivalent production >12,000 kg of milk and treated with bovine somatotropin (bST). The study used 2 commercial dairies and one university dairy and included 4 treatments. Five multiparous and 5 primiparous cows from each farm were assigned to each treatment: 1) 60-d dry period, label use of bST (60DD); 2) 30-d dry period, label use of bST (30DD); 3) continuous milking, label use of bST (CMLST); and 4) continuous milking with continuous use of bST (CMCST). Per label, bST use started at 57 to 70 d in milk and ended 14 d before drying (60DD and 30DD) or expected calving date (CMLST). In primiparous cows, average milk yields during the first 17 wk of lactation were reduced for cows on treatments 30DD, CMLST, and CMCST vs. the 60DD treatment. (38.3, 35.1, and 37.5 vs. 44.1 +/- 1.3 kg/d, respectively). For multiparous cows, respective milk yields did not differ (46.6, 43.4, 46.5, and 47.7 +/- 2.1 kg/d). Shortened or omitted dry periods may impede mammary growth in primiparous cows, resulting in reduced milk yield in the subsequent lactation. In contrast, a shortened or omitted dry period with either bST protocol did not alter production in multiparous cows treated with bST. Quality aspects of prepartum milk and colostrum require additional characterization. For multiparous cows, milk income generated for short dry periods or for continuous milking might increase their profitability. At 17 wk of the subsequent lactation, estimates of the cumulative net margins of multiparous cows on the 30DD treatment and continuous milking treatments exceeded those of cows on the 60DD treatment by 40 dollars to 60 dollars per cow.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the feeding value of extruded corn in a corn silage-based ration for high-producing Holstein cows during mid lactation. Sixteen multiparous and 8 primiparous Holstein cows (106 ± 49.7 d in milk; 43.7 ± 5.27 kg of milk/d) were paired based on parity, days in milk, milk production, and body condition score and assigned to 1 of 2 dietary treatments in a randomized block design for 10 wk including a 2-wk adaptation period. Cows were fed a total mixed ration and milked 3 times per day. Diets contained 44% forage (3:1; corn silage:grass silage), 44.7% grain, and either extruded corn (EXC) or finely ground corn (FGC) at 11.3% of ration dry matter. No significant differences were detected in dry matter intake, milk protein yields, fat-corrected milk yields, or body condition score between cows fed FGC and cows fed EXC. Multiparous cows fed EXC produced more milk during wk 3 through 8 with a reduced milk fat content compared with multiparous cows fed FGC. Milk protein content was greater for primiparous cows fed EXC during wk 5 through 8 compared with primiparous cows fed the FGC ration. The major effect of feeding 2.7 kg/d of EXC compared with FGC was an increase in milk production and a reduction in milk fat content for multiparous cows, and an increase in milk protein content for primiparous cows.  相似文献

Forty-eight Holstein cows were randomly assigned to receive diets containing corn or barley as the primary energy concentrate from wk 4 through 44 postpartum. During wk 14, cows from each grain source group were randomly assigned to receive 0 (control), 10.3, 20.6, and 30.9 mg/cow per d of recombinant bST injected wk 15 through 44 postpartum. Grain source exerted no significant effect on production parameters and efficacy of bST, although milk production tended to be higher with corn diets. Milk production (24.2, 29.2, 31.7, and 29.5 kg/d) and 4% FCM (21.9, 26.2, 28.1, and 28.0 kg/d) were higher for cows injected with bST, and DM intakes (20.9, 22.8, 22.0, and 23.3 kg/d) increased slightly. Percentages of milk fat (3.47, 3.28, 3.39, and 3.52) and protein (3.48, 3.44, 3.44, and 3.38) varied. Lactose, SCC, and body weights were similar for bST and dietary treatments. Diet or bST had no detectable affect on health or reproduction. Injection of bST wk 15 through 44 increased milk production 21 to 31% relative to control animals. Limiting bST use to the latter two-thirds of lactation resulted in an 8 to 17% increase in total yield with only a 0 to 5% increase in lactational DM intake.  相似文献

The objective was to evaluate effects of alfalfa quality and concentrate proportion in diets during early lactation on milk production, milk composition, feed intake, and body weight. Sixty-eight Holstein cows (24 first lactation and 44 older cows) were assigned to one of four diets during the first 14 wk of lactation. Diets contained either early cut or normal cut alfalfa hay mixed with 30 or 50% concentrate. Forage quality and concentrate did not affect milk yield or dry matter intake for either older or first lactation cows. Milk fat percent was reduced by higher concentrate (3.7 versus 3.3%) but was not affected by forage quality for older cows. Milk protein was higher for early cut (3.2%) compared with normal cut (3.1%) hay. For first lactation cows, milk fat percent increased with declining forage quality (3.5 versus 3.9%) and increased with declining concentrate (3.6 versus 3.9%). Yields of milk components were not different for forage quality or concentrate except for higher yield of milk protein for early cut hay diets fed to older cows.  相似文献

Three primiparous cows were assigned randomly to a 4 x 4 incomplete Latin square to evaluate ruminal characteristics (Experiment 1) with the following feeding strategies: strategy A, supplement (protein), forage plus high moisture ear corn (energy), protein; strategy B, energy plus protein, forage, energy plus protein; strategy C, forage plus energy, protein, forage plus energy, protein; and strategy D, forage, energy plus protein, forage, energy plus protein. In Experiment 2, 36 cows were fed diets similar to those in Experiment 1 from wk 4 through 19 postpartum. Cows fed diets according to strategy A had the highest and strategy D the lowest mean ruminal pH. Diurnal variation in ruminal pH was less with cows fed diets using strategies A and B than C and D. Other ruminal parameters were not significantly different. In Experiment 2, cows fed according to strategy B had higher DMI than those fed according to other strategies. Energy and protein fed together and separately from forage, regardless of sequence, increased milk fat percentage compared with protein fed separately. Milk production and protein yield tended to be highest when protein was fed separately, regardless of sequence to forage. Strategic feeding of protein and energy sources in relation to forage influenced some ruminal and production measurements in primiparous cows.  相似文献

We used 48 multiparous Holstein cows to compare the response of dairy cows to a direct-fed mixture of cellulase and xylanase enzymes (1.25 L of enzyme concentrate/tonne of forage dry matter) applied to the forage portion (60% corn silage and 40% alfalfa hay) of a total mixed diet starting either in the close-up dry period, at calving, or at peak milk production. Cows were blocked by calving date and, within blocks, randomly assigned to one of four treatment diets. Treatments were: 1) an untreated control diet, 2) enzyme addition to the forage from wk 6 to 18 postpartum, 3) enzyme addition to the forage from calving to wk 18 postpartum, and 4) enzyme addition to the forage from wk 4 prepartum to wk 18 postpartum. Total mixed diets were 65% forage and 35% concentrate prepartum, and 50:50 forage:concentrate postpartum. The production of milk, solids-corrected milk, fat-corrected milk, and energy-corrected milk was higher for cows fed enzyme-treated diets than for cows fed control diet. Production was similar for cows in all enzyme-treated groups, although numerically highest for cows that started receiving enzyme-treated forages right after parturition and numerically lowest when started prepartum. Concentrations of fat, protein, and lactose in milk were similar for all treatments; yields of protein and fat were higher for cows fed enzyme-treated forages. Dry matter intake and body condition scores, both prepartum and postpartum, were similar for all diets. Eating rates, as determined in two 24-h studies, were similar for control and enzyme-treated diets. The feeding of enzyme-treated forages increased milk production. While the effect of when the feeding of enzyme-treated forages started was not statistically significant, we recommend starting soon after parturition because of the greatest total milk production when starting at that time.  相似文献

Seventy-eight lactating Holstein cows (18 primiparous and 60 multiparous) were used to study certain factors affecting response in milk yields to biweekly injections of bST. Cows were intramuscularly injected with placebo or with 500 mg of bST every 14 d for 36 wk beginning 60 d postpartum. Primiparous cows responded less to bST than did multiparous cows. Cows were separated into three yield groups within each treatment based on pretreatment yield: low (27.0 kg/d), medium (32.0 kg/d), and high (39.0 kg/d). Response of low yielding cows to bST was numerically greater than that of medium or high yielding cows, but there was no significant interaction between treatment and pretreatment milk yield. Individual cow index for milk yield was used as a measure of genetic potential of cows, which were divided into two index groups: high cow index (greater than -23 kg) and low cow index (less than -23 kg). Cows in the high index group showed significantly higher milk yields than the low index group during treatment, but treatment by cow index interaction was not significant, suggesting that cows of widely ranging genetic potential respond similarly to bST. Response of cows to bST in mid to late lactation was slightly greater than in early lactation (15.9 and 10.6% vs. 17.8%, respectively), but no significant interaction of treatment by days postpartum was noted. Finally, even though cows treated with bST exhibited slightly higher rectal temperatures during the hot summer months, no significant difference in milk yield response to bST was noted during periods of moderate versus high ambient temperatures.  相似文献

Cows (890) in 15 US herds were assigned randomly in equal numbers to control or bST injections (500 mg in a prolonged-release form every 14 d for 12 wk) within three stages of lactation (57 to 100, 101 to 140, and 141 to 189 d postpartum) and two parity groups (primiparous and multiparous). Yield and milk composition were monitored 1 d/wk for 16 wk including 2 wk pretreatment and 2 wk posttreatment. Increases in milk and FCM due to bST injections were less at 57 to 100 d than at 101 to 189 d postpartum (milk 3.6 vs. 5.5; FCM 3.9 vs. 6.1 kg/d per cow), and increases in milk and FCM were more for multiparous than for primiparous cows (milk 5.5 vs. 4.2; FCM 6.0 vs. 4.7 kg/d cow). Temporarily, concentration of milk fat increased and protein decreased; later, concentrations for control and injected cows were similar. Postinjection milk fat concentration decreased, but milk protein concentration increased temporarily. The net increase in milk (and FCM) varied significantly among herds from 2.9 to 7.6 kg/d per cow (mean, 4.9 kg). Responses in FCM were similar over a wide range of pretreatment yields. A great variety of feed ingredients were fed as total mixed rations, and nutrient concentrations varied greatly. The SCC were similar before, during, and after treatment, but increase in FCM of injected cows exhibited a negative correlation with pretreatment SCC. Changes in body condition score of sometribove-injected cows varied among herds (.25 to -.45) and averaged -.02 compared with .07 for controls. There was no pattern in incidence of mastitis during sometribove injections.  相似文献

Twenty-four primiparous Holstein cows were fed corn silage:grain (1:1, DM basis) and hay (.9 kg/d) beginning 30 d prepartum and through wk 18 of lactation. Ten grams of Biomate Yeast Plus (5 X 10(9) cfu of Saccharomyces cerevisiae/g) were top-dressed on the a.m. allotment of corn silage:grain fed to 12 cows. Corn silage:grain was restricted during prepartum and thereafter fed for ad libitum intake. Cows fed supplemental yeast peaked earlier and had a higher milk yield compared with control cows (wk 7, 29.5 kg/d vs. wk 11, 28.7 kg/d). Digestibilities of protein and cellulose were improved in cows fed supplemental yeast, contributing to a greater DMI during the first 6 wk of lactation and a higher average milk yield through wk 18 of lactation compared with control cows (27.2 vs. 26.0 kg/d).  相似文献

Twenty-four Holstein-Friesian dairy cows (20 intact and 4 fitted with rumen cannula) during early lactation (56 +/- 25.3 d in milk) were assigned to two treatments to determine intake and production responses to feeding dried and wet brewers' grain. There were two cows fitted with a rumen cannula in each treatment. Cows were fed a total mixed ration twice daily containing either dried or wet brewers' grain at 15% of the dietary dry matter (DM). The diet contained 47% forage and 53% concentrate. The experimental design was a replicated 2 x 2 Latin square with two periods of 5 wk each. First 2 wk in each period were considered as adaptation to diets and data from the last 3 wk were used for treatment comparisons. Dried and wet brewers' diets contained 68.0 and 66.5% DM, respectively. Feeding brewers' grain dry or wet to dairy cows had no influence on feed intake (25.6 vs. 25.1 kg/d), fat corrected milk yield (40.1 vs. 40.7 kg/d), milk composition and feed consumption. The pH, ammonia, total volatile fatty acids and molar ratios of volatile fatty acids in the rumen fluid were not different between treatments. Fatty acid composition of milk fat from cows fed diets containing dry or wet brewers' grain was identical, except C18:2 and C18:3 fatty acids were lower in milk fat from cows fed wet brewers' grain compared with dried brewers' grain. The results from the present study suggest that the performance of cows fed either dried or wet brewers' grain at 15% of dietary DM was similar when diets had the same DM. The average price for dried and wet brewers' grain in the United States from July 2001 to June 2002 was dollars 145.3 and dollars 96.9/metric tonne DM, respectively. Using wet instead of dried brewers' grain will save dollars 49/metric tonne minus the difference in storage costs. Wet brewers' grain can be fed to dairy cows in areas that are close to the brewery and provides nutritive value similar to the dried brewers' grain.  相似文献

An experiment was conducted to determine the effect of plane of energy intake prepartum on postpartum performance. Primiparous (n = 24) and multiparous (n = 23) Holsteins were randomly assigned by expected date of parturition to 1 of 3 prepartum energy intakes. A moderate energy diet [1.63 Mcal of net energy for lactation (NEL)/kg; 15% crude protein (CP)] was fed for either ad libitum intake (OVR) or restricted intake (RES) to supply 150 or 80% of National Research Council (2001) energy requirement, respectively, for dry cows in late gestation. To limit energy intake to 100% of NRC requirement at ad libitum dry matter intake (DMI), chopped wheat straw was included as 31.8% of dry matter (DM) in a control diet (CON; 1.21 Mcal of NEL/kg of DM; 14% CP). Multiparous and primiparous cows assigned to OVR gained body condition during the dry period [initial body condition score (BCS) = 3.3], but were not overconditioned by parturition (BCS = 3.5). Multiparous cows in the OVR group lost more BCS postpartum than multiparous RES or CON cows. Primiparous cows lost similar amounts of BCS among dietary treatment groups postpartum. Addition of chopped wheat straw to CON diets prevented a large decrease in DMI prepartum in both primiparous and multiparous cows. During the first 3 wk postpartum, DMI as a percentage of BW was lower for multiparous OVR cows than for multiparous RES cows. Prepartum diet effects did not carry over through the entire 8-wk lactation period. Because of greater mobilization of body stores, OVR cows had greater milk fat percentage and greater 3.5% fat-corrected milk yield during the first 3 wk postpartum. Multiparous cows assigned to OVR experienced a 55% decrease in energy balance and primiparous cows a 40% decrease in energy balance during the last 3 wk before parturition, compared with CON or RES cows that had little change. Multiparous cows fed OVR had a greater contribution of energy from body energy reserves to milk energy output than either CON or RES cows. Overfeeding energy prepartum resulted in large changes in periparturient energy balance. Even in the absence of overconditioning, a large change in DMI and energy balance prepartum influenced postpartum DMI and BCS loss, especially for multiparous cows. Chopped wheat straw was effective at controlling energy intake prepartum, although primiparous cows did not achieve predicted DMI. Even so, controlling or restricting energy intake in primiparous cows was not detrimental to lactational performance over the first 8 wk of lactation.  相似文献

Beginning 4 wk postpartum, 14 Holstein cows were paired according to expected calving date and lactation number and assigned randomly to one of two treatments in a single reversal experiment designed to study the effects of added buffers to high quality alfalfa hay-based diets. Cows were offered daily 14.5 kg of concentrate containing 0 or 2% sodium bicarbonate and .5% magnesium oxide (as fed), plus free choice high quality alfalfa hay in a ratio of forage:grain approaching 50:50 (dry matter). No differences were in milk production, milk fat percentage, fat-corrected milk, or dry matter intake. Dry matter intake of grain was decreased with addition of buffers. Kilograms fat-corrected milk per kilogram of dry matter intake were 1.41 and 1.45 for control and buffered diets. No differences were significant for rumen pH, ammonia concentration, molar proportions of acetate and propionate, or ratio of acetate: propionate. Concentrations of total volatile fatty acids were higher for cows fed the buffered diet. No differences were in blood acid-base status or in various serum metabolites. Urine pH was 8.11 and 8.20 for control and buffered diets. Fractional urinary excretion of magnesium and sodium was greater when cows consumed the buffered diet. Diet digestibilities and rate of passage were not affected by dietary buffers. Addition of sodium bicarbonate plus magnesium oxide did not improve performance of early lactation cows fed high quality alfalfa hay as the sole forage.  相似文献

The effectiveness of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) from soyhulls and whole cottonseed for replacing NDF from forage was evaluated in a lactation trial during wk 10 to 25 of lactation. Forty-eight cows were blocked and randomly assigned within a block to one of four diets: 1) 21% forage NDF with corn 2) 16% forage NDF with corn, 3) 16% forage NDF with corn and wheat (1:1) and, 4) 11% forage NDF with cottonseed and corn. Soybean hulls were added at approximately 23.0% of dry matter (DM) for the 16 and 11% forage NDF diets to replace forage and formulate diets with 35% nonfiber carbohydrates. Actual forage NDF concentration were 17.8, 14.0, 13.9, and 9.4%, respectively. Dry matter intake and milk yield were highest for cows fed 11% forage NDF with cottonseed. Milk fat percentage was higher for cows consuming 21% forage NDF and 16% forage NDF with corn than for cows fed the two other diets. Cows fed 16% forage NDF with corn and wheat experienced milk fat-protein inversion, but ruminal acetate:propionate was lower for cows fed 11% forage NDF than cows fed 16% forage NDF. Body weight (BW) and BW change were not different among treatments. Time spent chewing was similar among all diets. For cows in midlactation, forage NDF may be reduced to 9 to 11% when cottonseed is at 11% of DM and dietary nonstructural carbohydrates are at 30% of DM. Forage NDF may be reduced to 14 to 16% without cottonseed when nonstructural carbohydrates are at 30% of DM.  相似文献

Twelve multiparous and 18 primiparous Holstein cows were fed a 17.3% CP, 21.0% ADF diet during wk 2 through 6 postpartum. Cows then were assigned from wk 7 through 14 to one of three low fiber (10.7% ADF) dietary treatments containing either 14.4 or 18.7% CP, the latter with or without a soybean meal enhanced with rumen undegradable protein. Treatments had no effect on milk yield or composition in multiparous cows, although milk fat percentage was not depressed in multiparous cows receiving the low fiber diets. The soybean meal diet enhanced with rumen undegradable protein increased yields of milk, 4% FCM, fat, protein, and DMI compared with the 14.4% CP diet in primiparous cows; it also increased yields of 4% FCM and fat versus the 18.7% CP, untreated diet in primiparous cows. Blood urea N concentrations were greater for high CP diets than for the low CP diet in both parity groups. Rumen acetate: propionate ratios were higher for both high CP diets than for the low CP diet in multiparous cows. Soybean meal enhanced with rumen undegradable protein improved yields of milk and its components in primiparous cows fed low fiber diets, even when high protein diets were fed.  相似文献

Forty-seven cows (24 primiparous) were assigned to one of four normal (20.5%) ADF diets for wk 2 to 5 postpartum. Dietary treatments in a 2 x 2 factorial design were diets of 13.8 versus 18.8% CP and 0 versus 12 g/d of niacin per cow. During wk 6 to 13 postpartum, cows were fed low (11.8%) ADF diets while maintaining CP and niacin treatments. Low CP diets contained solvent-extracted soybean meal; rumen soybean meal with enhanced undegradable protein was used in high CP diets. High CP diets increased milk protein percentage in multiparous cows and yields of milk, 4% FCM, fat, protein, and SNF in primiparous cows during the normal fiber period. High dietary CP also increased yields of 4% FCM, fat, protein, and SNF in primiparous cows fed normal fiber diets. When switched to low fiber diets, primiparous cows fed high CP diets decreased more in 4% FCM and fat yields than those fed low CP. Primiparous cows fed niacin decreased more in 4% FCM than controls. High dietary CP increased DMI in primiparous cows fed normal fiber diets, but those fed low CP diets increased more in DMI when switched to low fiber diets. Supplemental niacin appeared to interact with dietary CP in multiparous cows, increasing blood glucose and decreasing blood beta-hydroxybutyrate and NEFA concentrations with the high CP, normal fiber diet. Increased dietary CP improved yields of milk and milk components in primiparous cows.  相似文献

To investigate the immediate and long-term performance effects of milking frequency during early lactation of primiparous dairy cows consuming a total mixed ration and pasture, 20 Holstein cows were assigned in a randomized block design to either once-daily (1×) or twice-daily (2×) milking during the first 8 wk of lactation (treatment period). After the treatment period, all cows were milked 2× until wk 43 of lactation. Cows were fed a total mixed ration (approximately 15 kg of DM/cow per day) and allowed to graze an oat pasture (Avena sativa). Dry matter intake was 19.1 kg of DM/cow per day on average and was not affected by treatments. Milk yield was 40% lower in cows milked 1× during the treatment period, and a carryover effect existed until wk 21 of lactation, resulting in a final reduction of 15% of milk yield in the whole lactation. Milk lactose concentration decreased, whereas fat and protein concentrations increased for cows milked 1×. Mobilization of energy reserves during the treatment period occurred in both groups, but cows milked 1× showed greater body condition score and greater backfat thickness. In conclusion, milking 1× during the first 8 wk of lactation resulted in immediate and carryover negative effects on milk and milk solid yield without affecting feed intake, resulting in the improved energy status of primiparous dairy cows.  相似文献
