Although the industrial partners of academe are unanimous in their desire to hire engineering graduates who are experienced in working productively in small groups, implementing small group work in a computer science class can be difficult. The obvious assignment, a group programming project, proved to be a poor choice when implemented in my computer graphics class. An examination of the literature in this area shows that a group programming project has many features in common with a group term paper, the assignment that has been uniquely identified as the worst choice for small group work. Fortunately, there are better choices for cooperative learning in computer science. Assignments with “the three S's“: Same problem, Specific choice, and Simultaneous reporting of group choices, work well. This was implemented in my class by having students work multiple choice quizzes designed to require high level learning skills. Quizzes were first worked by individuals, then by small groups. The small group answers are then compared and discussed in class. This generates the type of interaction between the professor and students which creates positive cooperative learning experiences. Promising results have been seen with this method, from both the student and the professor's perspective. 相似文献

The emergence of flexible organic electronics that span the fields of physics and biomimetics creates the possibility for increasingly simple and intelligent products for use in everyday life. Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), with their inherent flexibility, light weight, and biocompatibility, have shown great promise in the field of biomimicry. By applying such biomimetic OFETs for the internet of things (IoT) makes it possible to imagine novel products and use cases for the future. Recent advances in flexible OFETs and their applications in biomimetic systems are reviewed. Strategies to achieve flexible OFETs are individually discussed and recent progress in biomimetic sensory systems and nervous systems is reviewed in detail. OFETs are revealed to be one of the best systems for mimicking sensory and nervous systems. Additionally, a brief discussion of information storage based on OFETs is presented. Finally, a personal view of the utilization of biomimetic OFETs in the IoT and future challenges in this research area are provided. 相似文献

Via computer simulations of the standard binary Lennard-Jones glass former we have obtained in a systematic way a large set of close-by pairs of minima on the potential energy landscape, i.e. double-well potentials (DWP). We analyze this set of DWP in two directions. At low temperatures the symmetric DWP give rise to tunneling systems. We compare the resulting low-temperature anomalies with those, predicted by the standard tunneling model. Deviations can be traced back to the energy dependence of the relevant quantities like the number of tunneling systems. Furthermore we analyze the local structure around a DWP as well as the translational pattern during the transition between both minima. Local density anomalies are crucial for the formation of a tunneling system. Two very different kinds of tunneling systems are observed, depending on the type of atom (small or large) which forms the center of the tunneling system. In the first case the tunneling system can be interpreted as a single-particle motion, in the second case it is more collective.PACS numbers: 61.43Fs 61.20Ja 相似文献
