Studies were carried out to determine the effect of soybean trypsin inhibitors (SBTI) on exocrine pancreatic secretions in growing pigs. Six barrows with an average initial body weight (BW) of 27·1±1·4 kg were fitted with permanent pancreatic re-entrant cannulas and fed two diets according to a crossover design. Two maize starch-based diets were formulated to contain 200 g kg−1 crude protein from either Nutrisoy (food grade defatted soy flour) or autoclaved Nutrisoy. The concentrations of SBTI in Nutrisoy and autoclaved Nutrisoy diets were 13·4 and 3·0 g kg−1, respectively. The experiment consisted of two periods of 9 days each. The average BW at the start of the first and second experimental periods was 33·5±2·7 and 37·2±3·7 kg, respectively. The average BW at the conclusion of the experiment was 41·8±3·9 kg. The volume of pancreatic secretion was higher (P<0·01) when the Nutrisoy, as opposed to the autoclaved Nutrisoy diet was fed (3804 vs 2634 ml (24 h)−1). The concen-tration of nitrogen and protein and specific activities (units litre−1) of amylase, chymotrypsin and trypsin were lower (P<0·05) in pancreatic juice of pigs fed the Nutrisoy diet. There were no differences (P>0·05) in the total secretions of nitrogen (g (24 h)−1) and total activities (units (24 h)−1) of amylase, lipase, chymotrypsin and trypsin in pancreatic juice of pigs fed the Nutrisoy and autoclaved Nutrisoy diets. However, the total secretion of protein was slightly higher (25·7 vs 22·8 g (24 h)−1; P<0·05) in pancreatic juice of pigs fed the autoclaved Nutrisoy diet, which corresponded with the increase in the secretion of protein-bound amino acids. There was also an increase in the total secretion of free amino acids in pancreatic juice. These studies show no effect of SBTI on the total enzyme activities in pancreatic juice of growing pigs. © 1998 SCI.  相似文献

Five castrated male Iberian pigs (100 ± 2 kg body weight) fitted with T‐shaped cannulas at the terminal ileum were used to determine ileal digestibility of legume seed meals. The diets were based on defatted soybean, lupin or chickpea seed meals and contained similar levels of digestible energy (14.2–15.1 kJ g?1) and protein (107 g kg?1). Protein‐free and a hydrolysed casein diets were used to study endogenous ileal amino acid flows. Chromium oxide (10 g kg?1 diet) was added to the diets as an indigestible marker. Ileal flows in pigs fed the hydrolysed casein diet were different (p < 0.05) in amino acid contents and composition from those on the protein‐free diet. Ileal sialic acid flows in pigs fed lupin‐ or chickpea‐based diets were higher (p < 0.05) than those of animals fed soybean or casein diets. Among essential amino acids, only the apparent ileal digestibilities of phenylalanine and valine in lupin meal were lower (p < 0.05) than those in soybean. Apparent ileal digestibilities of lupin aspartate and proline, together with chickpea aspartate, were also lower (p < 0.05) than those of soybean. True ileal digestibility of nitrogen in pigs fed lupin or chickpea meals, calculated according to values from animals fed the protein‐free diet, was lower (p < 0.05) than that for soybean or casein. Among individual essential amino acids, only the true ileal digestibility of phenylalanine in lupin was lower (p < 0.05) than that in soybean. True ileal digestibility of nitrogen calculated according to values obtained with pigs fed a hydrolysed casein diet was not different among soybean, lupin or chickpea meals. Among essential amino acids, only the true ileal digestibilities of isoleucine and lysine in chickpea were lower (p < 0.05) than those of soybean. It is concluded that true ileal nitrogen and amino acid digestibilities of lupin and chickpea meals are comparable to those of defatted soybean in Iberian pigs. The results with protein‐free diets tended to underestimate endogenous protein secretion in pigs fed on diets containing protein. Copyright © 2005 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Diurnal variation in the chemical composition of digesta and its effect on nutrient digestibilities of diets varying in dietary fibre content was examined in pigs fitted with a PVTC-cannula at the terminal ileum. The pigs were fed three times a day (08:00, 16:00 and 24:00 h). A barley control diet and four barley-based diets containing two levels (100 or 200 g kg-1 diet) of alfalfa meal or white clover meal and Cr2O3 as an indigestible marker were fed according to a 5×5 Latin square design. In each experimental period, digesta were collected for 1 h every third hour on each of two separate sampling days, covering in total a 24 h period. The concentration of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), ash and chromium (Cr) in the ileal digesta varied in relation to time of feeding. However, the patterns were similar after all three meals (08:00, 16:00 and 24:00 h) and independent of diet. The maximum DM, CP and ash contents were reached 4–5 h post-feeding. The highest (P < 0·05) DM concentration was found in the ileal digesta of pigs fed the barley control diet. The DM concentration decreased (P < 0·05) as the inclusion level of alfalfa meal and white clover meal was increased. The lowest DM concentration was found for the highest inclusion level of alfalfa meal. The ileal digestibilities of both organic matter and CP were lower 1–2 h post-feeding compared with those recorded 3–5 h later, indicating that the less digestible components of a diet have shorter transit times. The pooled ileal digestibilities of organic matter and CP from the three 8 h periods (08:00–16:00 h, 16:00–24:00 h, 24:00–08:00 h) did not differ (P < 0·05) from each other. Therefore, the estimate of digestibility can be based on digesta samples collected from any interval between two consecutive meals. However, care must be taken to obtain representative samples of digesta between meals. © 1997 SCI.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The study was conducted to determine the effect of graded levels of feed intake on apparent (AID) and standardized (SID) ileal digestibilities of crude protein (CP) and amino acids (AA) in diets for piglets. The piglets were surgically fitted with simple T‐cannulas at the distal ileum. The cornstarch–casein–soybean meal‐based diets were fed at three graded levels of feed intake corresponding to 30, 45 and 60 g kg?1 body weight (BW) per day. RESULTS: The AID and SID of most AA were quadratically affected by the feed intake level (P?0.05). Initially, both AID and SID of most AA increased up to 1.9 percentage units as the feed intake level was increased from 30 to 45 g kg?1 BW. Thereafter, these AID and SID values decreased by 2.6 and 2.7 percentage units, respectively, as the feed intake level was further increased from 45 to 60 g kg?1 BW. CONCLUSION: Because the voluntary feed intake is highly variable in piglets after weaning, comparison of ileal AA digestibilities between and within studies may be confounded by variations in feed intake level. Thus, when designing digestibility studies with piglets, a standardization of feed intake should be taken into consideration. Copyright © 2011 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The aim of this study was to characterize the nutritional profile and to determine the digestibilities of nutrients in wheat‐based dried distillers' grains with solubles (DDGS) fed to growing pigs. Six ileal cannulated barrows individually housed in metabolism crates were fed experimental diets which consisted of a basal wheat‐based diet or the basal diet with wheat replaced by 400 g kg?1 mixed wheat or winter wheat DDGS in a replicated 3 × 3 Latin square design. Ileal digesta and fecal samples were collected for determining apparent ileal (AID) and apparent total tract digestibilities (ATTD), respectively. The contents of proximate components and amino acids in DDGS were about three times higher than in wheat. The AID and ATTD of dry matter, nitrogen and energy were lower (P < 0.05) in DDGS compared with wheat. The DDGS samples had lower (P < 0.05) AID of amino acids compared with wheat; average values for lysine, threonine and isoleucine in DDGS were 43.8, 62.9 and 68.0%, respectively. The ileal and fecal digestible energy content in DDGS averaged 9.7 ± 1.18 and 13.5 ± 0.61 MJ kg?1, respectively. Respective values for wheat were 13.3 ± 0.52 and 14.6 ± 0.22 MJ kg?1 and both were higher (P < 0.05) than in DDGS. Copyright © 2005 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Six barrows, average initial weight 35 kg, fitted with a simple T-cannula at the distal ileum, were used to determine the apparent ileal digestibilities of amino acids (AA) and the digestibility of energy in six diets according to a 6 x 6 Latin square design. The pigs were fed six corn starch-based diets formulated to contain 165 g CP per kg from six different white-flowered spring pea cultivars. Chromic oxide was used as the digestibility marker. The pigs were fed twice daily, at 08:00 and 20:00 h. Each experimental period lasted 9 days. Faeces were collected from 08:00 on day 6 to 08:00 h on day 8; ileal digesta from 08:00 on day 7 to 08:00 h on day 9. Of the indispensable (+semi-) AA, there were differences (P≤0.05) in the AA digestibilities of arginine, methionine, phenylalanine and tyrosine between the cultivars. In the same order for these AA, the digestibilities ranged from 81.3 to 89.0%, 67.8 to 75.1%, 68.0 to 74.6% and 66.1 to 74.8%, respectively. Within each cultivar, the digestibilities of cysteine and threonine were relatively low, ranging from 58.5 to 65.9% and from 59.6 to 67.4%, respectively. The digestibility of lysine was relatively high, ranging from 80.3 to 84.0%. The energy digestibilities in the pea cultivars ranged from 87.4 to 90.2% (P≤0.05); the digestible energy content from 14.0 to 14.4 MJ kg-1 DM. There was considerable disappearance of energy in the large intestine, ranging from 4.4 to 6.2 MJ kg-1 DM intake from peas. In conclusion, when measured with the ileal analysis method, there were differences (P≤0.05) in the digestibilities of some of the indispensable AA between the pea samples. Furthermore, the relatively low digestibilities of methionine and cysteine further accentuate the limitation of the sulphur-containing AA in protein from peas.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: This study was carried out to estimate basal ileal endogenous crude protein (CP) and amino acid (AA) losses (IAALB) in newly weaned pigs by regression analysis from apparent ileal digestible and the corresponding total dietary contents of CP and AA in order to obtain standardised ileal digestibilities (SID) of CP and AA originating from casein. A total of fourteen 3‐week‐old barrows were fitted with simple T cannulas at the distal ileum and were fed six diets with two pigs per diet in 4 weekly repeated measurements. Corn starch‐based diets containing six graded levels of CP from casein with 90, 155, 220, 285, 350 and 415 g kg?1 CP (as‐fed basis) were formulated. RESULTS: Linear relationships (P < 0.001) between apparent ileal digestible and total dietary contents of CP and AA (g kg?1 dry matter intake (DMI)) exist for CP and all AA in the range of 90–220 g kg?1 CP content in the diet. The IAALB extrapolated from the range of 90–220 g kg?1 CP content are different from zero (P < 0.001 to P = 0.019) except for tryptophan (P = 0.220). Based on regression analysis in the range of 90–220 g kg?1 CP, estimates of IAALB, expressed as g kg?1 DMI, and SID of CP and AA in casein (in parentheses, %) were as follows: CP 9.3 (98.0); arginine 0.4 (98.9); histidine 0.2 (98.5); isoleucine 0.2 (98.1); leucine 0.5 (99.2); lysine 0.4 (99.0); methionine 0.1 (99.1); phenylalanine 0.4 (99.9); threonine 0.6 (97.8); tryptophan 0.1 (96.2); valine 0.4 (98.5). CONCLUSION: The IAALB and SID of CP and AA originating from casein in newly weaned pigs are in close agreement with values obtained in grower finisher pigs. This study was carried out to investigate the methodological aspects of extrapolating the ileal losses of endogenous amino acids (AA) with linear relationships between the distal ileal outputs and dietary inputs of AA. Six barrows, average initial body weight 35 kg, were fitted with a simple T-cannula at the distal ileum and fed six diets according to a 6×6 Latin square design. Six maize starch-based diets containing six levels of crude protein (CP) and AA from soya bean meal (4, 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24% CP, respectively) were formulated. Chromic oxide (4 g kg-1 diet) was included as the digestibility marker. Each experimental period consisted of 8 days. Ileal digesta were collected, at 2 h intervals, for a total of 24 h during days 7 and 8. There were strong linear relationships (P<0·01) between the ileal outputs and dietary inputs of AA. Differences in ranges of graded dietary levels of AA affected the linearity and caused large differences in the extrapolated levels of ileal endogenous AA. Therefore, the design of a suitable range of graded dietary levels of AA is the most important methodological consideration for the determination of endogenous AA losses and the true ileal digestibility values of AA with the linear relationship. For CP and the essential AA, the true ileal digestibility values (%) in soya bean meal and the ileal endogenous losses (g kg-1 dry matter intake, in parentheses) were as follows: CP, 89·4 (16·4); arginine, 96·1 (0·68); histidine, 92·4 (0·24); isoleucine, 91·7 (0·45); leucine, 90·7 (0·69); lysine, 90·5 (0·48); methionine, 93·6 (0·13); phenyl-alanine, 92·5 (0·38); threonine, 86·5 (0·71) and valine, 90·3 (0·56). Furthermore, the levels of endogenous AA extrapolated with the linear relationships between the ileal outputs and dietary inputs of AA were very close to the values estimated with the linear relationships between the dietary contents of apparent ileal digestible and total AA, suggesting that both models of linear relationships can be used as the regression analysis technique for determination of ileal losses of endogenous AA and true ileal digestibility values of AA in feedstuffs for pigs. © 1997 SCI.  相似文献

Three experiments, the first with rats, the second with young pigs and the third with growing pigs, were carried out to compare the nutritional value of cv Lysimax, a newly developed high-lysine barley, to cv Lami, a conventional barley grown in Denmark. In the diets for rats and growing pigs the barleys were the sole protein source while in the experiment with young pigs the barleys made up to 649 g kg-1 of the respective diets. The lysine content of cv Lysimax was 52·6% higher than that of cv Lami; 4·99 g 16 g N-1 compared to 3·27 g 16 g N-1. The contents of threonine, tryptophane, methionine and cystine of cv Lysimax were 3·80, 1·41, 1·80 and 2·27 g 16 g N-1, respectively; being 18·4, 8·5, 9·8 and 5·1% higher than in cv Lami. Conversely, the contents of glutamic acid and proline in cv Lysimax were 15·79 and 7·40 g 16 g N-1, respectively, being 36·1 and 40·0% lower than in cv Lami. In the experiment with rats, the higher lysine content and the lower content of glutamic acid and proline in cv Lysimax resulted in a 34·8% increase (P<0·05) in biological value (BV); 0·867 for cv Lysimax compared to 0·643 for cv Lami. True protein digestibilities and energy digestibilities in rats fed cv Lysimax were 0·019 and 0·010 units lower (P<0·05) than for cv Lami. For young pigs the increased lysine content and the lower content of glutamic acid and proline of cv Lysimax increased (P<0·05) nitrogen (N) retention from 10·9 to 12·4 g day-1, respectively, and increased (P<0·05) apparent BV from 0·690 to 0·734, respectively. The digestibility of energy was 0·030 units lower (P<0·05) for the diets with cv Lysimax than for the diets with cv Lami. Likewise, with growing pigs the increased lysine content and the lower content of glutamic acid and proline increased (P<0·05) N retention from 6·4 to 10·8 g day-1 and apparent BV from 0·271 to 0·495, respectively. The apparent ileal digestibilities of lysine, threonine, tryptophane, methionine and cystine were similar (P>0·05) between the barleys. It is concluded that the development of high-lysine barley varieties could be beneficial for meeting the requirements of essential amino acids for monogastrics. Moreover, N excretion into the environment was substantially reduced due a reduction in the prolamine fraction which is rich in glutamic acid and proline. © 1997 SCI.  相似文献

An experiment was conducted to determine the apparent ileal digestibility of amino acids and the digestible energy (DE) content of two samples of naked oats (Avena sativa cv Bandicoot) and to compare these parameters in wheat (Triticum aestivum cv Machete) and dehulled oats (groats; Avena sativa cv Echidna). Four Large White male pigs were fitted with simple T-piece ileal cannulae and allocated to experimental diets in a 4×4 Latin square design. Amino acid digestibility coefficients were determined after continuous eight hour collections of digesta over two consecutive days using acid-insoluble ash as an indigestible marker. Digestible energy was determined using grab samples of faeces. No significant difference between the four test cereals was found in the digestibility of all amino acids, except for proline and lysine. The apparent ileal digestibility of lysine in wheat (0·87) and two samples of naked oats (0·89 and 0·82, respectively) was lower (P<0·05) than dehulled oats (0·91). The mean DE value of the naked oats samples was 16·96 MJ kg−1 (air-dry basis). The results suggest that Bandicoot naked oats and dehulled oats are superior amino acid and DE sources to wheat and have potential for use in weaner and grower pig diets. © 1998 SCI.  相似文献

The ileal digestibilities of dry matter (DM), nitrogen (N), energy and amino acids were measured using pigs prepared with either re-entrant or simple ileal cannulae and fed a basal wheat diet, a wheat/lupin diet and a wheat/meat and bone meal (MBM) diet. The same pigs were also used to determine the faecal digestibilities of DM, N and energy in these diets. Addition of lupins to the basal diet had no significant effect on the true digestibilities of amino acids but addition of MBM significantly ( <0.01) reduced amino acid digestibility. It was calculated that an average of about 90% of the amino acids in lupin and wheat but only 65% of those in MBM were absorbed from the stomach and small intestine of the pig. Compared to lupin and wheat, a much larger proportion of the protein in MBM disappeared in the large intestine (approximately 4, 6 and 15% respectively). On the other hand, a large proportion of the energy in lupins but little of that in wheat and MBM (32, 8 and 4% respectively) disappeared in the large intestine. There were no significant differences between the re-entrant and simple cannulae for ileal digestibility values of DM, N and amino acids.  相似文献

Two methods were tested for suppressing the depressive effect of N-free diets on the digestive secretions in pigs: the blood perfusion of amino acids (AA) or the peptide alimentation method. In the latter, enzymically hydrolysed casein (EHC), composed of oligopeptides and free AA, was used as the source of nitrogen. The unabsorbed dietary N molecules were discarded from the ileal digesta by ultrafiltration or gel filtration, assuming that the endogenous fraction did not contain significant amounts of small molecules. The AA supply by blood perfusion had no effect on the ileal endogenous AA losses (8·0 g AA kg−1 DM intake) in growing pigs (±50 kg), compared with the N-free diet alone (8·3 g), whereas the EHC supplementation significantly increased them (18·0 g). The increase was due to both endogenous and dietary N. The presence of unabsorbed dietary AA in the ileal digesta was confirmed by the AA profile of the soluble molecules with a very low molecular mass (<3 kDa), which was close to that of EHC. Both ultrafiltration (cut-offs of 3 or 10 kDa) and gel filtration methods, utilised to discard the remaining dietary molecules, also eliminated a significant proportion of endogenous AA.  相似文献

Two experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of feeding diets containing faba beans and peas on pancreatic secretions in young pigs fitted with a pancreatic pouch re-entrant cannula. In Experiment 1, eight barrows, with an average initial weight of 8·5 kg, were fed one of two maize starch-based diets formulated to contain 200 g crude protein (CP) kg−1 according to a completely randomised design. In one of the diets, soya bean meal was the sole protein source; in the other diet, soya bean meal and faba beans (cv Fibro; dark-flowering) each supplied 50% of the dietary CP. In Experiment 2, five barrows, with an average initial weight of 18·1 kg, were fed one of two diets according to a two-period change-over design. The diets were formulated to contain 150 g CP kg−1 with peas (cv Ascona or cv Radley) as the sole protein source. In both experiments, the experimental periods consisted of 8 days: 6 days adaptation followed by a 2 day collection of pancreatic juice. The soya bean meal diet and the faba bean diet contained 0.04 and 0.21% tannins (catechin equivalents), respectively. The trypsin inhibitor activities of the Ascona and Radley pea diets were 0·76 and 3·24 mg of trypsin inhibited per gram, respectively. In both experiments, diet did not affect ( P> 0·05) the pancreatic secretions of nitrogen, protein, amylase, lipase and chymotrypsin. In Experiment 1, specific trypsin activity was higher ( P< 0·05) in pancreatic juice from pigs fed the diet containing soya bean meal and faba beans (53700 units litre−1) than for those fed the soya bean meal diet (41200 units litre−1). However, there was no effect ( P> 0·05) when trypsin activity was expressed as total activity (units 24 h−1). It is concluded that the inclu-sion of faba beans and peas in diets for young pigs has only minor effects on exocrine pancreatic secretions.  相似文献

The effects of germinated faba bean (Vicia faba minor var Alameda)‐ and chickpea (Cicer arietinum kabuli var Athenas)‐based diets on performance, N utilisation, amino acid ileal digestibility and plasma concentrations were studied in growing male Wistar rats. Raw and germinated faba bean and chickpea seed meals were incorporated in essential amino acid‐supplemented and energy‐equalised diets as the only sources of protein. A lactalbumin‐based diet equalised in protein (100 g kg?1) and digestible energy (15.5 kJ g?1) with the test diets was used as control. Weight gains, gain/feed ratios, N retention and NPU values of animals fed raw or germinated legumes were lower than those of rats given the control (lactalbumin) diet, while faecal dry weights were higher. However, N retention and NPU values of rats fed germinated faba bean diets were higher and faecal dry weights lower than those of animals fed non‐germinated faba bean diets. Liver and thymus fresh and dry relative weights were lower than controls for all legume diets, whilst small intestine, caecum and colon relative weights were higher than controls for non‐germinated faba beans and chickpeas either germinated or not. Caecum and colon fresh and dry relative weights of rats fed germinated faba bean seeds were lower than those of rats fed non‐germinated faba beans and not different from controls. Except for aspartic acid and proline in rats fed raw faba bean diets, apparent ileal digestibilities of amino acids were not different or higher in rats fed legume diets as compared with controls. Except for arginine, apparent ileal amino acid digestibility was higher for germinated than for non‐germinated faba bean seeds. The amounts of glycine, arginine and ornithine in plasma significantly increased whilst those of threonine, alanine, leucine and lysine decreased with respect to controls in faba bean‐ or chickpea‐fed rats, either germinated or not. We conclude that (a) germination of faba bean seeds gave rise to a significant (P < 0.01) but limited improvement in performance, N retention and apparent ileal digestibilities of some amino acids in growing rats compared with non‐germinated seeds, while there was no detectable effect in the case of germinated chickpea seeds, and (b) the apparent ileal amino acid digestibility of essential amino acid‐supplemented diets based on faba bean or chickpea meals, either germinated or not, is similar or even higher than controls. © 2002 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The nutritive value of four pea cultivars (AC Advantage, Carneval, CDC Mozart and Keoma) and soybean meal (SBM) was evaluated in a 102 h study with 48 male White Pekin ducks. All birds were tube‐fed 25 g of dextrose at 24 and 30 h after feed withdrawal, then 25 g of each feedstuff was tube‐fed to eight ducks at 48 and 54 h after feed withdrawal. Excreta were quantitatively collected during the next 54 h. Endogenous nitrogen, amino acids and energy per bird in the 54 h collection period were 1.06 ± 0.58 g, 0.047 ± 0.025 g and 0.098 ± 0.049 MJ respectively. There were differences (P < 0.05) in apparent amino acid digestibilities (AAAD) and true amino acid digestibilities (TAAD). On average, AAAD were 82.8, 82.0, 70.3, 82.4 and 77.7% and TAAD were 89.4, 89.2, 82.3, 89.5 and 85.3% for SBM, AC Advantage, Carneval, CDC Mozart and Keoma respectively. The nitrogen‐corrected apparent and true metabolisable energy values did not differ among the pea diets and were 13.36 ± 0.071 and 14.59 ± 0.071 MJ kg?1 respectively. Respective values for SBM were 12.16 ± 0.16 and 13.39 ± 0.16 MJ kg?1 and both were lower (P < 0.05) than in peas. Copyright © 2004 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Information on the addition of lipase and/or emulsifiers to less digestible or saturated fat sources, such as tallow or other animal fats, used in swine feeding is very limited. Therefore, in a 4 × 4 Latin square design, the effects of adding lipase (0.05% L5, microbial source) and/or an emulsifier (0.3% Lysoforte) on the apparent ileal (AID) and faecal (AFD) digestibility of the main nutrients and fatty acids in particular were studied with four ileal‐cannulated growing pigs (female, initial live weight 20 kg) fed diets containing barley/soybean meal supplemented with 4% animal fat. The fat source contained 35% saturated (S) and 65% unsaturated (U) fatty acids. All diets were free of antibacterial substances (antibiotics, copper sulphate or zinc oxide beyond requirements), in order to avoid interactions between the parameters studied and the gut flora. Lipase addition did not affect the AID or AFD of fat. However, the digestibility of minor fatty acids (C6:0, C14:0) was significantly improved by lipase at both ileal and faecal level. On the other hand, lipase supplementation (P < 0.05) improved the AID of dry matter (DM) and energy as well as the AFD of DM, organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), ash and energy. Addition of an emulsifier did not have any significant influence on the AID or AFD of fat, while the AID values of DM, OM, CP and energy as well as the AFD values of DM, OM, CP and ash were significantly (P < 0.05) improved. Adding lipase in combination with an emulsifier to the diets decreased (P < 0.05) the AID and AFD of fat, with minor effects on the AID and AFD of the non‐fat components of the diet. The lack of improvement in the digestion of fat by exogenous lipase and/or emulsifier may be related to the rather high U/S ratio (0.65:0.35) of the animal fat source used and to the mode of incorporation of the emulsifier (no pre‐dispersion in the fat source). Furthermore, during the trial the diets, stored at room temperature, showed a steady increase in their content of free fatty acids (to more than 700 g kg?1 fat), due to endogenous lipase activity, leaving less room for upgrading the digestion of animal fat by exogenous lipase and/or emulsifier. Two experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of feeding diets containing faba beans and peas on the concentration, flow and composition of total, protein-bound and free amino acids (AA) in pancreatic juice collected from young pigs fitted with a pancreatic pouch re-entrant cannula. In Experiment 1, eight barrows, with an average initial weight of 8·5 kg, were fed one of two semi-purified diets formulated to contain 200 g kg−1 crude protein (CP) according to a completely randomised design. In one of the diets, soya bean meal was the sole protein source; in the other diet, soya bean meal and faba beans (cv Fibro; dark-flowering) each supplied 50% of the dietary CP. In Experiment 2, five barrows, with an average initial weight of 18·1 kg, were fed one of two diets formulated to contain 150 g kg−1 CP with peas (cv Ascona or cv Radley) as the sole protein source. There was no effect (P>0·05) of the diet, 8 h sampling period or experimental period on the concentration (mM), composition (% and g 16 g N−1) and flow (mmol 24 h−1) of total, protein-bound and free AA or on the percentage of protein-bound AA in pancreatic juice. The concentrations of total, protein-bound and free AA were higher in pancreatic juice collected from younger pigs in Experiment 1 than in pancreatic juice collected from older pigs in Experiment 2. However, the daily flows of total, protein-bound and free AA in pancreatic juice were similar in both experiments. The percentages of protein-bound AA in pancreatic juice were similar in both experiments. In conclusion, the concentrations, compositions and flows of total, protein-bound and free AA in pancreatic juice were not affected by diet, 8 h sampling period or experimental period.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine the effects of processing and dietary inclusion level of flaxseed on broiler performance and nutrient utilisation. Flaxseed was included in the diet fed to day‐old broilers for the first 3 weeks as whole seed, ground seed, autoclaved whole seed, ground autoclaved whole seed or whole seed pelleted with the other ingredients, at levels of 0, 100, 120 and 140 g kg?1. Chicks fed the pelleted flaxseed‐containing diets had heavier body weights, consumed more feed and had better feed/gain ratios than those fed the other flaxseed‐containing diets during the 3 weeks period (P < 0.01). The flaxseed level in the diet also had very significant (P < 0.01) effects on body weight and feed/gain ratio at the end of weeks 1 and 3, with the diets containing 100 g kg?1 flaxseed resulting in better performance than the other flaxseed‐containing diets. Among the flaxseed containing diets, the pelleted diets led to higher apparent ether extract digestibilities, with values of 778 and 770 g kg?1 for the diets containing 100 and 140 g kg?1 flaxseed respectively. This better utilisation of ether extract by young broilers may explain the significantly (P < 0.05) higher AMEn (apparent metabolisable energy) value of 2924 kcal kg?1 for the pelleted 140 g kg?1 flaxseed‐containing diet. This was 15.4–17.5% higher than for the diets with the same level of flaxseed but provided as raw or autoclaved whole seed. The pelleting of flaxseed allowed an inclusion rate of 100 g kg?1 without any reduction in the performance and nutrient utilisation of broilers. The objectives of this study were to determine the effects on milk yield, milk composition, ruminal fermentation and total tract nutrient utilization of feeding roasted whole sunflower seed to dairy cows. Three diets were formulated: a control diet with no sunflower seed (NSF), a raw sunflower seed diet (USF) and a roasted sunflower seed diet (RSF). The level of sunflower seed in USF and RSF was 78 g kg?1 of dry matter (DM). The effects of dietary treatments on yield and composition of milk were determined using nine Holstein cows in three 3 × 3 Latin squares. Three ruminally fistulated cows were used to determine the effects of dietary treatments on ruminal fermentation and total tract nutrient digestibilities. Cows fed sunflower seed diets consumed 8% less (P < 0.05) DM but produced similar amounts of milk as cows fed NSF. However, milk fat content (30.7 vs 33.5 g kg?1) and yield (1.33 vs 1.47 kg day?1) were lower (P < 0.05) for cows fed USF and RSF than for those fed NSF. Supplemental sunflower seed had no effect on concentrations and yields of other milk components. The concentrations of short‐chain (C4:0 to C12:0) and medium‐chain (C14:0 to C16:0) fatty acids were, respectively, 27% and 29% lower (P < 0.05) while those of long‐chain fatty acids (C18:0 to C18:3) were 51% higher (P < 0.05) in the milk of cows fed USF and RSF than for cows fed NSF. Ruminal pH, ammonia N and total volatile fatty acids were not affected by dietary treatments. Feeding sunflower seed (USF or RSF) reduced (P < 0.05) the concentration of acetate and increased (P < 0.05) the concentration of propionate. Total tract nutrient digestibilities were not affected by sunflower seed supplementation or by heat treatment. Supplementing dairy cow diets with unheated or roasted sunflower seed improved the efficiency of milk production and increased concentrations of long‐chain and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Feeding sunflower seed at up to 78 g kg?1 of diet DM had no adverse effects on nutrient utilization. Roasting had no additional benefits on milk yield or milk fatty acid composition. The nutritive value of transgenic peas expressing an α‐amylase inhibitor (α‐Ai1) was evaluated with broiler chickens. The effects of feeding transgenic peas on the development of visceral organs associated with digestion and nutrient absorption were also examined. The chemical composition of the conventional and the transgenic peas used in this study were similar. In the two feeding trials, that were conducted normal and transgenic peas were incorporated into a maize–soybean diet at concentrations up to 500 g kg?1. The diets were balanced to contain similar levels of apparent metabolisable energy (AME) and amino acids. In the first trial, the birds were fed the diets from 3 to 17 days post‐hatching and with levels of transgenic peas at 250 g kg?1 or greater there was a significant reduction in body weight but an increase in feed intake resulting in deceased feed conversion efficiency. In the second trial, in which the birds were fed diets containing 300 g kg?1 transgenic peas until 40 days of age, growth performance was significantly reduced. It was also demonstrated that the ileal starch digestibility coefficient (0.80 vs 0.42) was significantly reduced in the birds fed transgenic peas. Determination of AME and ileal digestibility of amino acids in 5‐week‐old broilers demonstrated a significant reduction in AME (12.12 vs 5.08 MJ kg?1 DM) in the birds fed the transgenic peas. The AME value recorded for transgenic peas reflected the lower starch digestibility of this line. Ileal digestion of protein and amino acids was unaffected by treatment. Expression of α‐Ai1 in peas did not appear to affect bird health or the utilisation of dietary protein. However, the significant reduction in ileal digestion of starch in transgenic peas does reduce the utility of this feedstuff in monogastric diets where efficient energy utilisation is required.
