Three experiments, the first with rats, the second with young pigs and the third with growing pigs, were carried out to compare the nutritional value of cv Lysimax, a newly developed high-lysine barley, to cv Lami, a conventional barley grown in Denmark. In the diets for rats and growing pigs the barleys were the sole protein source while in the experiment with young pigs the barleys made up to 649 g kg-1 of the respective diets. The lysine content of cv Lysimax was 52·6% higher than that of cv Lami; 4·99 g 16 g N-1 compared to 3·27 g 16 g N-1. The contents of threonine, tryptophane, methionine and cystine of cv Lysimax were 3·80, 1·41, 1·80 and 2·27 g 16 g N-1, respectively; being 18·4, 8·5, 9·8 and 5·1% higher than in cv Lami. Conversely, the contents of glutamic acid and proline in cv Lysimax were 15·79 and 7·40 g 16 g N-1, respectively, being 36·1 and 40·0% lower than in cv Lami. In the experiment with rats, the higher lysine content and the lower content of glutamic acid and proline in cv Lysimax resulted in a 34·8% increase (P<0·05) in biological value (BV); 0·867 for cv Lysimax compared to 0·643 for cv Lami. True protein digestibilities and energy digestibilities in rats fed cv Lysimax were 0·019 and 0·010 units lower (P<0·05) than for cv Lami. For young pigs the increased lysine content and the lower content of glutamic acid and proline of cv Lysimax increased (P<0·05) nitrogen (N) retention from 10·9 to 12·4 g day-1, respectively, and increased (P<0·05) apparent BV from 0·690 to 0·734, respectively. The digestibility of energy was 0·030 units lower (P<0·05) for the diets with cv Lysimax than for the diets with cv Lami. Likewise, with growing pigs the increased lysine content and the lower content of glutamic acid and proline increased (P<0·05) N retention from 6·4 to 10·8 g day-1 and apparent BV from 0·271 to 0·495, respectively. The apparent ileal digestibilities of lysine, threonine, tryptophane, methionine and cystine were similar (P>0·05) between the barleys. It is concluded that the development of high-lysine barley varieties could be beneficial for meeting the requirements of essential amino acids for monogastrics. Moreover, N excretion into the environment was substantially reduced due a reduction in the prolamine fraction which is rich in glutamic acid and proline. © 1997 SCI.  相似文献

This study was carried out to investigate the methodological aspects of extrapolating the ileal losses of endogenous amino acids (AA) with linear relationships between the distal ileal outputs and dietary inputs of AA. Six barrows, average initial body weight 35 kg, were fitted with a simple T-cannula at the distal ileum and fed six diets according to a 6×6 Latin square design. Six maize starch-based diets containing six levels of crude protein (CP) and AA from soya bean meal (4, 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24% CP, respectively) were formulated. Chromic oxide (4 g kg-1 diet) was included as the digestibility marker. Each experimental period consisted of 8 days. Ileal digesta were collected, at 2 h intervals, for a total of 24 h during days 7 and 8. There were strong linear relationships (P<0·01) between the ileal outputs and dietary inputs of AA. Differences in ranges of graded dietary levels of AA affected the linearity and caused large differences in the extrapolated levels of ileal endogenous AA. Therefore, the design of a suitable range of graded dietary levels of AA is the most important methodological consideration for the determination of endogenous AA losses and the true ileal digestibility values of AA with the linear relationship. For CP and the essential AA, the true ileal digestibility values (%) in soya bean meal and the ileal endogenous losses (g kg-1 dry matter intake, in parentheses) were as follows: CP, 89·4 (16·4); arginine, 96·1 (0·68); histidine, 92·4 (0·24); isoleucine, 91·7 (0·45); leucine, 90·7 (0·69); lysine, 90·5 (0·48); methionine, 93·6 (0·13); phenyl-alanine, 92·5 (0·38); threonine, 86·5 (0·71) and valine, 90·3 (0·56). Furthermore, the levels of endogenous AA extrapolated with the linear relationships between the ileal outputs and dietary inputs of AA were very close to the values estimated with the linear relationships between the dietary contents of apparent ileal digestible and total AA, suggesting that both models of linear relationships can be used as the regression analysis technique for determination of ileal losses of endogenous AA and true ileal digestibility values of AA in feedstuffs for pigs. © 1997 SCI.  相似文献

The effects of a commercial xylanase preparation on the apparent metabolisable energy and ileal amino acid digestibility values of wheat (n = 2), triticale and wheat middlings for five-week-old broiler chickens were investigated. The apparent metabolisable energy and ileal amino acid digestibilities in wheat 1 (new season) and wheat 2 (old season) were improved (P < 0.05) by the supplemental enzyme. The apparent metabolisable energy values (MJ kg−1) of wheat 1 and wheat 2, without or with the enzyme, were 13.71 and 14.40, and 14.28 and 15.34, respectively. The average digestibilities of the 15 amino acids in wheat 1 and wheat 2, without or with the enzyme, were 0.85 and 0.91, and 0.85 and 0.90, respectively. Exogenous xylanase was without effect (P > 0.05) on the apparent metabolisable energy values of triticale and wheat middlings. Although numerical advantages in the amino acid digestibility of triticale and wheat middlings were observed with enzyme addition, the differences were not significant (P > 0.05) except for phenylalanine, lysine and glycine in the wheat middlings. © 1999 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Studies were carried out to determine the effect of dietary soybean trypsin inhibitor (SBTI) content on nutrient and energy digestibilities in growing pigs. Six barrows, average initial body weight (BW) 47·8±4·0 kg, were fitted with a simple T-cannula at the distal ileum and fed two diets according to a crossover design. Two maize starch-based diets were formulated to contain 200 g crude protein (CP) kg−1 from either Nutrisoy (a food-grade defatted soy flour) or autoclaved Nutrisoy. The contents of SBTI in the Nutrisoy and autoclaved Nutrisoy diets were 13·4 and 3·0 g kg−1, respectively. The experiment consisted of two periods of 12 days each. The average BW at the start of the first and second experimental periods were 53·3±3·7 and 61·0±5·1 kg, respectively. The average BW at the conclusion of the experiment was 71·8±7·6 kg. The ileal digestibilities of dry matter (DM), organic (OM), energy, CP and all amino acids measured were higher (P<0·01) in pigs fed the autoclaved Nutrisoy diet. The energy digestibility increased from 66·0 to 77·9%, and the CP digestibility increased from 37·4 to 77·1%. The increases in ileal digestibilities of the indispensable amino acids ranged from 27·0 (methionine) to 49·2 (leucine) percentage units. The increases in ileal digestibilities of the dispensable amino acids ranged from 30·2 (aspartic acid) to 50·8 (tyrosine) percentage units. The faecal digestibilities of all criteria measured were also higher (P<0·01) in pigs fed the autoclaved Nutrisoy diet. Furthermore, there was a greater (P<0·01) net disappearance (g kg−1 DM intake) of DM, OM, CP, energy and all amino acids in the large intestine of pigs fed the Nutrisoy diet. In conclusion, feeding diets containing high levels of SBTI decreased both ileal and faecal digestibilities of all criteria measured. The formation of SBTI-enzyme complexes is likely to be responsible for the reduction in protein digestion and amino acid absorption. © 1998 SCI.  相似文献

The apparent ileal digestibility of amino acids in eight feed ingredients were determined using broilers and layers. The ingredients included three cereals (wheat, sorghum and maize), one cereal by‐product (wheat middlings), three oilseed meals (canola, cottonseed and soybean meals) and one animal protein meal (meat and bone meal). Dietary protein in the assay diets was supplied solely by the test ingredient. All diets contained 20 g kg?1 acid‐insoluble ash as an indigestible marker, and each diet was offered ad libitum in mash form to five replicate pens of 42‐day‐old broilers and 60‐week‐old layers. The digestibility coefficients of most amino acids for wheat and sorghum were similar (P > 0.05) in broilers and layers. The digestibility of most amino acids for maize was higher (P < 0.05) in broilers compared to those in layers. The digestibility of individual amino acid for wheat middlings was higher (P < 0.05) in layers than in broilers. In general, the digestibility of amino acids for cottonseed meal, soybean meal, and meat and bone meal were similar (P > 0.05) between broilers and layers. The influence of class of bird on digestibility in canola meal was variable. The digestibility of threonine, valine, isoleucine, leucine, phenylalanine, glutamic acid and alanine were higher (P < 0.05), and those of methionine, histidine and lysine were lower (P < 0.05) in broilers compared to layers. These results suggest that the practice of using amino acid digestibility values generated with broilers for layers may not be appropriate for all feed ingredients. The nutritive value of three hull-less barley cultivars (Condor, Falcon and CDC Buck) were evaluated. The samples were analysed for proximate composition, amino acids and non-starch polysaccharides (NSP). Wheat and normal barley were used for comparison. Apparent digestibilities were determined with eight cannulated pigs. The diets were formulated to have all energy and protein supplied by the cereals. Compared to normal barley, hull-less barley has higher contents of protein and amino-acids, and lower levels of fibre components. The levels of several essential amino acids in hull-less barley are higher than in wheat. No obvious differences in NSP composition were observed, but the hull-less barley contained considerably higher levels of β-glucan compared to hulled barley and wheat. In digestion trials the piglets did not accept the diet in which conventional barley was formulated as the only energy and protein source, whereas hull-less barleys were well consumed. The results showed that, in the order of Condor, Falcon, CDC Buck and wheat, the overall tract digestibilities of intake energy were 83·1, 80·3, 83·2 and 82·9%, and of protein were 72·6, 69·5, 76·5 and 77·6%, respectively. The averages of apparent ileal amino acid digestibility were 56·5, 58·4, 65·3 and 65·4%, respectively. Hull-less barleys showed 20–37% ileal digestibility of total NSP. This study provides digestibility coefficients of hull-less barleys, and it is concluded that the digestibility of hull-less barley is comparable to wheat and superior to hulled barley in terms of nutrient composition and acceptability. © 1998 SCI.  相似文献

This study consists of milk fatty acid (FA) data collected during 2 in vivo experiments. For this study, 8 cows from each experiment were included in a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square design. At the start of experiment 1 (Exp1) cows were at (mean ± standard deviation) 87 ± 34.6 d in milk, 625 ± 85.0 kg of body weight, and 32.1 ± 4.17 kg/d milk yield and at the start of experiment 2 (Exp2) cows were at 74 ± 18.2 d in milk, 629 ± 87.0 kg of body weight, and 37.0 ± 3.2 kg/d milk yield. In Exp1, we examined the effects of gradual replacement of barley with hulled oats (oats with hulls) on milk FA composition. The basal diet was grass silage and rapeseed meal (58 and 10% of diet DM, respectively), and the 4 grain supplements were formulated so that barley was gradually replaced by hulled oats at levels of 0, 33, 67, and 100% on dry matter basis. In Exp2, we examined (1) the effects of replacing barley with both hulled and dehulled oats (oats without hulls) and (2) the effects of gradual replacement of hulled oats with dehulled oats on milk FA composition. The basal diet was grass silage and rapeseed meal (60 and 10% of diet DM, respectively), and the 4 pelleted experimental concentrates were barley, hulled oats, a 50:50 mixture of hulled and dehulled oats, and dehulled oats on dry matter basis. In Exp1, gradual replacement of barley with hulled oats decreased relative proportions of 14:0, 16:0, and total saturated FA (SFA) in milk fat linearly, whereas proportions of 18:0, 18:1, total monounsaturated FA, and total cis unsaturated FA increased linearly. Transfer efficiency of total C18 decreased linearly when barley was replaced by hulled oats in Exp1. In Exp2, relative proportions of 14:0, 16:0, and total SFA were lower, whereas proportions of 18:0, 18:1, monounsaturated FA, and cis unsaturated FA were higher in milk from cows fed the oat diets than in milk from cows fed the barley diet. Moreover, in Exp2, gradual replacement of hulled oats with dehulled oats slightly decreased the relative proportion of 14:0 in milk fat but did not affect the proportions of 16:0, 18:0, 18:1, total SFA, monounsaturated FA, trans FA, or polyunsaturated FA. In Exp2, transfer efficiency of total C18 was lower when cows were fed the oat diets than when fed the barley diet and decreased linearly when hulled oats were replaced with dehulled oats. Predictions of daily CH4 emissions (g/d) using the on-farm available variables energy-corrected milk yield and body weight were not markedly improved by including milk concentrations of individual milk FA in prediction equations. In conclusion, replacement of barley with oats as a concentrate supplement for dairy cows fed a grass silage-based diet could offer a practical strategy to change the FA composition of milk to be more in accordance with international dietary guidelines regarding consumption of SFA.  相似文献

Sixteen Nordic Red dairy cows, at 80 ± 4.6 d in milk and with an average body weight of 624 ± 91.8 kg, were used in a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square design to investigate the effects of different concentrate supplements on milk production, enteric CH4 emissions, ruminal fermentation, digestibility, and energy utilization. The cows were blocked into 4 groups based on parity and milk yield and randomly assigned to 1 of 4 experimental concentrates: (1) barley, (2) hulled oats, (3) an oat mixture consisting of hulled and dehulled oats, 50:50 on dry matter basis, and (4) dehulled oats; canola meal was a protein supplement in all 4 concentrates. The cows were fed grass silage and experimental concentrate (forage-to-concentrate ratio 60:40 on dry matter basis) ad libitum. To compare the effects of barley and oats, the barley diet was compared with the overall mean of the hulled oat, oat mixture, and dehulled oat diets. To investigate the effects of gradual replacement of hulled oats with dehulled oats, linear and quadratic contrasts were specified. Milk and energy-corrected milk (ECM) yield were higher on the oat diets compared with the barley diet but were not affected by the type of oats. Concentrations of milk constituents were not affected by grain species or type of oats, except for protein concentration, which was lower on the oat diets than on the barley diet. Feeding the oat diets led to higher milk protein yield and higher milk urea N concentrations. Feed efficiency tended to be higher on the oat diets, and linearly increased with increased inclusion of dehulled oats. Methane emissions (g/d) and CH4 yield (g/kg of dry matter intake) were unaffected by grain species but increased linearly with increasing inclusion of dehulled oats in the diet. Because of higher ECM yield, CH4 intensity (g/kg of ECM) was on average 5.7% lower from cows on the oat diets than on the barley diet. Ruminal fermentation was not affected by dietary treatment. Total-tract apparent digestibility of organic matter, crude protein, and neutral detergent fiber was unaffected by grain species but linearly increased with increasing inclusion of dehulled oats. Gross energy content was higher on the oat diets and linearly increased with increasing inclusion of dehulled oats. Feeding the oat diets led to a lower ratio of CH4 energy to gross energy intake, greater milk energy and heat production but no change in energy balance. Gradual replacement of hulled oats with dehulled oats linearly increased gross energy digestibility, CH4 energy, metabolizable energy intake, heat production, and energy balance. We observed no effect of dietary treatment on efficiency of metabolizable energy use for lactation. In conclusion, replacing barley with any type of oats increased milk and ECM yield, which led to a 5.7% decrease in CH4 intensity. In addition, dehulling of oats before feeding is unnecessary because it did not significantly improve production performance of dairy cows in positive energy balance.  相似文献

Brewing with high levels of unmalted oats (Avena sativa) has proven to be successful despite their high contents of β-glucan, protein, and fat. However, little is known about the effect of different oat cultivars on the quality and processability of mashes and worts. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the mashing performance of eight oat cultivars, selected because of their low contents of β-glucan, protein, fat, and/or high starch content, when substituting 20 or 40 % barley malt. For this purpose, seven husked (A. sativa L. ‘Lutz’, ‘Buggy’, ‘Galaxy’, ‘Scorpion’, ‘Typhon’, ‘Ivory’, ‘Curly’) and one naked oat cultivar (A. sativa var. nuda ‘NORD 07/711’) were fully characterized using standard methods, Lab-on-a-Chip capillary electrophoresis, and scanning electron microscopy. The rheological behavior of mashes containing up to 40 % of each oat cultivar was measured during mashing by applying a Physica MCR rheometer. In addition, the quality of worts obtained from laboratory-scale mashing trials was analyzed particularly with regard to their cytolytic, proteolytic, and amylolytic properties. The substitution of up to 40 % barley malt with husked or naked oats resulted in significantly higher pH values, β-glucan contents, and viscosities as well as significantly lower soluble nitrogen and polyphenol contents, color values, filtration rates, and apparent attenuation limits. Naked oats contained significantly less β-glucan as well as more protein and starch than the seven husked oat cultivars. The replacement of barley malt with naked oats resulted in a constant extract yield, whereas the use of husked oats caused significant extract losses.  相似文献

Cultivar variation in the nutritional quality of triticale grain was examined with respect to apparent metabolisable energy (AME), ileal digestibility of dry matter (DM), nitrogen (N) and amino acids, and growth, in male broiler chickens. Eight triticale cultivars and two wheat cultivars were grown in an agronomic trial at a single experimental site to collect grain samples. Mean (±SD) AME was 13.54 (±0.64) MJ kg?1 DM, with a range of 12.57 to 14.25 MJ kg?1 DM. There were significant (P<0.05) differences between the grain cultivars in their DM, N and amino acid digestibility at the terminal ileum. Apparent lysine digestibility coefficients varied between 0.85 and 0.97. There was a significant (P<0.01) relationship between nutrient digestibility at the terminal ileum and acid-detergent fibre (ADF) in the cereal grains. Three triticale cultivars (Towan, Grow-quick and Ningadhu) had a lower N and lysine digestibility than the other triticales or wheat cultivars, but this was related to their higher ADF content. Trypsin inhibitor level in the cereal grain did not influence either nutrient digestibility or growth rate. Growth rate of broiler chickens from 1 to 21 days of age fed balanced diets which contained 50% cereal grain was significantly affected by cultivar. Birds fed one of the wheat cultivars (Warigal) had a higher (P<0.05) feed conversion ratio (g feed g?1 liveweight gain) than those birds fed diets containing triticale. Feeding birds diets which contained the triticale cultivar Ningadhu and the maize resulted in greater (P<0.05) liveweight gain than did the other cereal grains tested.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to characterize the nutritional profile and to determine the digestibilities of nutrients in wheat‐based dried distillers' grains with solubles (DDGS) fed to growing pigs. Six ileal cannulated barrows individually housed in metabolism crates were fed experimental diets which consisted of a basal wheat‐based diet or the basal diet with wheat replaced by 400 g kg?1 mixed wheat or winter wheat DDGS in a replicated 3 × 3 Latin square design. Ileal digesta and fecal samples were collected for determining apparent ileal (AID) and apparent total tract digestibilities (ATTD), respectively. The contents of proximate components and amino acids in DDGS were about three times higher than in wheat. The AID and ATTD of dry matter, nitrogen and energy were lower (P < 0.05) in DDGS compared with wheat. The DDGS samples had lower (P < 0.05) AID of amino acids compared with wheat; average values for lysine, threonine and isoleucine in DDGS were 43.8, 62.9 and 68.0%, respectively. The ileal and fecal digestible energy content in DDGS averaged 9.7 ± 1.18 and 13.5 ± 0.61 MJ kg?1, respectively. Respective values for wheat were 13.3 ± 0.52 and 14.6 ± 0.22 MJ kg?1 and both were higher (P < 0.05) than in DDGS. Copyright © 2005 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The composition of aerial and subterranean tubers of two potato genotypes cvs Desiree (red skin) and Epicure (white skin) was compared immediately after harvest using a range of analytical methods. Irrespective of genotype, aspartic acid, arginine, glycine, glutamic acid, histidine, leucine, serine, threonine and total amino acid concentrations were significantly higher (P<0·05) in aerial compared with subterranean tuber tissue. Significant increases (P<0·05) in valine in aerial tubers, but no significant differences in alanine, tyrosine and iso-leucine, when compared with subterranean tubers of cv Desiree, were found. In cv Epicure, alanine, tyrosine and iso-leucine were significantly higher in aerial tubers (P<0·05); however, no significant differences in valine were recorded. There was no significant increases in lysine and phenylalanine between tuber types. Regardless of genotype α-solanine, α-chaconine, chlorogenic acid, chlorophyll and crude protein concentrations were significantly higher in aerial tubers compared with subterranean ones (P<0·01). No significant increases in total lipids between tuber types were found. In cv Desiree, ascorbic acid content was not significantly different between aerial and subterranean tuber tissue, but in cv Epicure concentrations were significantly higher (P<0·01) in aerial tubers. Starch concentrations were significantly higher in subterranean tubers of both cultivars (P<0·05). Sugar content was significantly higher in aerial tubers of cv Epicure (P<0·01), but not significantly different between aerial and subterranean tubers of cv Desiree. Regardless of genotype, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, zinc, manganese and sodium concentrations were significantly higher (P<0·05) in aerial tubers. Iron and copper concentrations were significantly higher in aerial tubers of cv Desiree (P<0·01), but significantly less in cv Epicure compared with subterranean tubers (P<0·01, P<0·05). Calcium concentrations were not significantly different between aerial and subterranean tubers of cv Desiree, but significantly higher in aerial tuber tissue of cv Epicure (P<0·01). Total gross energy (mJ kg−1 FW) was higher in aerial tubers of cv Desiree compared with subterranean tubers (P>0·05), but not significantly different between aerial and subterranean tubers of cv Epicure. The potential applications of aerial tubers for industrial purposes are discussed. © 1997 SCI.  相似文献

Amino acid compositions of ovine muscle, ovine myofibrillar protein, ovine spleen, ovine liver, bovine blood plasma, bovine blood globulins and bovine serum albumin and the amino acid compositions and in vivo (laboratory rat) true ileal amino acid digestibilities of hydrolysates (sequential hydrolysis with Neutrase, Alcalase and Flavourzyme) of these protein sources were determined. True ileal amino acid digestibility differed (P < 0.05) among the seven protein hydrolysates. The ovine myofibrillar protein and liver hydrolysates were the most digestible, with a mean true ileal digestibility across all amino acids of 99%. The least digestible protein hydrolysate was bovine serum albumin with a comparable mean true ileal digestibility of 93%. When the digestible amino acid contents were expressed as proportions relative to lysine, considerable differences, across the diverse protein sources, were found in the pattern of predicted absorbed amino acids.  相似文献

Five castrated male Iberian pigs (100 ± 2 kg body weight) fitted with T‐shaped cannulas at the terminal ileum were used to determine ileal digestibility of legume seed meals. The diets were based on defatted soybean, lupin or chickpea seed meals and contained similar levels of digestible energy (14.2–15.1 kJ g?1) and protein (107 g kg?1). Protein‐free and a hydrolysed casein diets were used to study endogenous ileal amino acid flows. Chromium oxide (10 g kg?1 diet) was added to the diets as an indigestible marker. Ileal flows in pigs fed the hydrolysed casein diet were different (p < 0.05) in amino acid contents and composition from those on the protein‐free diet. Ileal sialic acid flows in pigs fed lupin‐ or chickpea‐based diets were higher (p < 0.05) than those of animals fed soybean or casein diets. Among essential amino acids, only the apparent ileal digestibilities of phenylalanine and valine in lupin meal were lower (p < 0.05) than those in soybean. Apparent ileal digestibilities of lupin aspartate and proline, together with chickpea aspartate, were also lower (p < 0.05) than those of soybean. True ileal digestibility of nitrogen in pigs fed lupin or chickpea meals, calculated according to values from animals fed the protein‐free diet, was lower (p < 0.05) than that for soybean or casein. Among individual essential amino acids, only the true ileal digestibility of phenylalanine in lupin was lower (p < 0.05) than that in soybean. True ileal digestibility of nitrogen calculated according to values obtained with pigs fed a hydrolysed casein diet was not different among soybean, lupin or chickpea meals. Among essential amino acids, only the true ileal digestibilities of isoleucine and lysine in chickpea were lower (p < 0.05) than those of soybean. It is concluded that true ileal nitrogen and amino acid digestibilities of lupin and chickpea meals are comparable to those of defatted soybean in Iberian pigs. The results with protein‐free diets tended to underestimate endogenous protein secretion in pigs fed on diets containing protein. Copyright © 2005 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Twenty six straw and 15 foliage samples of Lathyrus sativus , Vicia narbonensis , V sativa and V ervilia were analysed for ash, crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fibre (NDF), acid detergent fibre (ADF), extractable phenols (Pe), extractable tannins (Te), extractable condensed tannins (CTe), protein precipitation capacity (PPC) and in vitro characteristics predicted from Hohenheim gas test. The content of crude protein in the foliage was significantly higher than that of the straws (152·6 vs 64·5 g kg−1), while ash (82·8 vs 116·8 g kg−1), NDF (332·7 vs 523·5 g kg−1) and ADF (205·2 vs 369·9 g kg−1) were significantly lower. For straws of L sativus , V narbonensis and V sativa , there was no significant difference in the protein and ADF contents, whereas ash and NDF contents were significantly lower and higher respectively in L sativus as compared to V narbonensis or V sativa . Predicted from gas volumes, the organic matter digestibility (OMD: 70 vs 56%) and metabolisable energy (ME: 9·7 vs 7·3 MJ kg−1) were significantly higher for the foliage compared to straws. The OMD of L sativus straws was significantly lower compared to the straws of V narbonensis and V sativa . The OMD and ME of the straws of second year was significantly lower than those of the first year. The CP, OMD and ME of V sativa foliage were higher than that of V narbonensis . There was no difference in the cell constituents, OMD and ME of foliage samples of V sativa harvested in May 1992 and June 1992. The contents of Pe, Te and CTe of straws were 1·08%, 0·43% and 0·33%, respectively, and those of foliage were 2·27%, 1·30% and 1·63%, respectively. PPC was not detected for any of the foliage and straw samples. The results suggested that the tannin levels of legume straws investigated are negligible and those of the legume foliage are very low. This does not appear to adversely affect their nutritive value since the maximum decrease in OMD by the tannins was about 3% units.  相似文献

The variation in content and changes during development of soyasaponin I in dehulled Swedish peas (Pisum sativum L) were investigated. The content of soyasaponin I in 40 dehulled pea samples ranged from 0·82 to 2·5 g kg-1 with a mean of 1·5 g kg-1. No significant differences in soyasaponin content were found between light- and dark-coloured peas. No soyasaponin I was found in the hulls. The content of soyasaponin I in the dehulled peas decreased considerably during maturation. Two light-coloured varieties had a higher initial content and a much more pronounced decrease during development than a dark-coloured variety. © 1997 SCI.  相似文献

Twelve sunflower (Helianthus annuus L) cultivars grown in Spain were analysed and tested in experiments with rats. The dehulled seeds contained an average of 32.2 MJ kg−1 dry matter (DM) gross energy, 653 g kg−1 DM fat, 60 g kg−1 DM total non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) and 6 g kg−1 DM Klason lignin. The sunflower seed hulls contained 20.2 MJ kg−1 DM gross energy, 53 g kg−1 DM fat, 562 g kg−1 DM total NSPs and 239 g kg−1 DM Klason lignin. The sunflower samples were dehulled and partially defatted (to ∼17% fat) and included in diets for rats. The dehulled, partially defatted samples contained on average 74.6 g nitrogen kg−1 DM and 1.409 mg g−1 phenolic compounds (chlorogenic acid + caffeic acid + derivative 1 + derivative 2) varying from 0.677 to 2.847 mg g−1. Groups of five growing rats were fed diets (9.38% crude protein) containing one of the sunflower cultivars as the only source of protein. Apparent ileal and faecal digestibilities were determined by using an indigestible marker (Cr2O3) and faecal digestibility based on total faecal collections. Apparent ileal, caecal and faecal digestibilities of organic matter were 81.2–91.5% (P = 0.05), 95.8–97.1% (P = 0.005) and 94.7–95.3% (P = 0.94) respectively. The apparent faecal digestibilities of DM, energy and protein (N × 6.25) were 93.2–93.8%, 93.5–94.3% and 81.6–84.3% respectively with no differences among cultivars. Biological value (BV) ranged between 63.8 and 73.2% (P = 0.0001) and net protein utilisation (NPU) between 59.9 and 69.5% (P = 0.0001). BV and NPU were positively correlated with lysine and threonine contents, but no correlation with the analysed phenolic compounds was detected. © 1999 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The nutritional value of raw and popped (similar to popcorn preparation) seed proteins of two amaranth species, Amaranthus caudatus L and A cruentus L, was investigated. After popping, the true protein content in A caudatus and A cruentus decreased by 9 and 13% respectively. Among the amino acids, the loss of tyrosine due to the popping effect was the highest, followed by phenylalanine and methionine. Leucine was the first limiting amino acid in the raw samples, followed by lysine, while the reverse order was observed in the popped samples. The in vivo protein quality of raw and popped seeds was tested with male weanling rats and compared with wheat flour and casein samples. There was no difference between the in vivo digestibility of the raw and the popped seeds, although the in vitro digestibility was slightly higher for the popped samples. The protein efficiency ratio (PER) for all the amaranth seed samples was higher than that for the wheat sample, while the PER for the raw amaranth seed samples was close to that for the casein reference protein. The rat blood serum levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides and high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol for all the amaranth samples were lower than those for the reference protein, while the wheat flour sample showed the lowest values. The nutritive value of 17 straws was determined on the basis of their chemical composition, in vitro dry matter (DM) digestibility and rumen fermentation kinetics (from gas production curves measured in vitro). Five roughages were from the cereal species Avena sativa (oat), Hordeum vulgare (barley), Secale cereale (rye), Triticum aestivum (wheat) and Zea mays (maize stover). The other 12 samples were legume straws, two samples from each of the species Cicer arietinum (chickpea), Lens culinaris (lentil) and Phaseolus vulgaris (bean) and one sample from each of the species Lathyrus sativus (chickling vetch), Lupinus albus (white lupin), Pisum sativum (field pea), Vicia articulata (one‐flowered vetch), Vicia ervilia (bitter vetch) and Vicia sativa (common vetch). All samples were collected after harvesting from different farms located in León (northwestern Spain). Based on their chemical composition, digestibility and gas production characteristics, species could be clustered into two groups with a significant linkage distance, one for cereal straws that merged at a level of similarity of 80% and the other for legume straws with a degree of similarity of 50%. Species varied widely and significant differences (P < 0.05) were observed between the two groups of straws. Legume straws showed higher crude protein (74 ± 6.1 vs 29 ± 2.2 g kg?1 DM) and lower fibre (584 ± 18.1 vs 793 ± 27.5 g neutral detergent fibre kg?1 DM) contents than cereal straws and, consequently, DM digestibility coefficients (0.670 vs 0.609; standard error of difference 0.0054) and metabolisable energy values (7.4 ± 0.15 vs 5.7 ± 0.24 MJ kg?1 DM) were significantly greater in legume than in cereal straws. Although there were noticeable differences among species within each botanical family, legume straws showed better nutritional quality than cereal straws, indicating that they could be considered promising and interesting sources of roughage for incorporation into ruminant diets. Maize, soft wheat and barley diets were compiled to have similar crude fibre (CF) concentration by addition of purified cellulose. Protein-free diets, with purified cellulose included at 60 g kg?1 dry matter (DM) (PF1) and 90 g kg?1 DM (PF2), were formulated. Each of four littermate, male pigs (22 kg liveweight) was surgically modified to create an ileo-rectal anastomosis with complete isolation of the large intestine. Diets were fed, and the ileal digesta, excreted via the anus, were collected. Endogenous amino acid output was higher after feeding PF2 than PF1. The choice of factor for correction of apparent digestibility (AD) to true digestibility (TD) was based upon CF intake of cereal diet. AD of most essential amino acids was greater in wheat than in maize or barley, although AD of lysine in barley (67.1%) was higher than in maize (56.8%) or wheat (63.4%). TD of most essential amino acids was higher for wheat and maize than for barley, although TD of lysine was similar for all cereals. Lysine and threonine were the most poorly digested essential amino acids in all cereals.  相似文献
