Semi-organic nonlinear optical material, L-lysine L-lysinium dichloride nitrate (2C6H15N2O2+_{2}^{+} · H +  · NO3-_{3}^{-} · 2Cl − ) was synthesized at room temperature. Single crystals of L-LLDN were grown by slow cooling solution growth technique. The grown crystal was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystalline perfection of the grown single crystal was characterized by high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) studies. The cut-off wavelength was determined by UV-vis transmission spectral analysis. The frequency doubling of the grown crystal was confirmed by powder second harmonic generation (SHG) measurement. The refractive index and birefringence of the crystal were determined using He–Ne laser source. Mechanical property of the crystal was determined by Vickers hardness tester. The frequency and temperature dependence of dielectric constant (ε r), dielectric loss (tan δ) and a.c. conductivity (σ ac) were also measured.  相似文献

l-(+)-Glutamic acid hydro bromide, an isomorphic salt of l-glutamic acid hydrochloride, was synthesized and the synthesis was confirmed using Fourier transform infrared analysis. Solubility of the material in water was determined. l-Glutamic acid hydro bromide crystals were grown by low temperature solution growth using the solvent evaporation technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies were carried out and the cell parameters, atomic co-ordinates, bond lengths and bond angles were reported. High-resolution X-ray diffraction studies were carried out and good crystallinity for the grown crystal was observed from the diffraction curve. The grown crystals were subjected to dielectric studies. Ultraviolet-visible-near infrared spectral analysis shows good optical transmission in the visible and infrared region of the grown crystals. The second harmonic generation efficiency of l-glutamic acid hydro bromide crystal was determined using the Kurtz powder test and it was found that it had efficiency comparable with that of the potassium di-hydrogen phosphate crystal.  相似文献

A new organic nonlinear optical material L-phenylalanine nitric acid [2C9H11NO2.H+. NO3] (LPN), was synthesized in mixed solvent of deionised water and methanol and single crystals of LPN was grown by slow evaporation method. Transparent crystals upto 2.9 × 0.3 × 0.05 cm3 were obtained. The grown crystals have been subjected to powder X-ray diffraction studies to identify the crystalline nature. Single crystal X-ray diffractometer was utilized to measure unit cell parameters and to confirm the crystal structure. The modes of vibration of different molecular groups present in LPN were identified by FTIR spectral analysis. Transmission spectra reveals that the crystal has low UV cutoff of 295 nm and has a good transmittance in the entire visible region enabling its use in optical applications. Thermal properties of the crystals have been investigated using thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analyses (DTA), which indicate that the material does not decompose before melting. The existence of second harmonic generation signals was observed using Nd:YAG laser with fundamental wavelength of 1064 nm.  相似文献

The nonlinear optical single crystal of NiHg(SCN)4 has been successfully synthesized and good quality single crystal has been grown by slow cooling solution growth technique. The grown single crystals have been analyzed by different characterization analyses in order to know its suitability for various applications. The functional groups have been identified from the FTIR analysis. The TG/DTA analysis reveals the thermal behavior of NMTC. The optical behaviour was assessed by UV–Vis analysis and was found with no absorption in the entire visible region and it may be useful for second harmonic and other relevant applications. The relative second harmonic generation efficiency was evaluated by Kurtz powder technique and was found to be good in comparison with the standard inorganic potassium dihydrogen phosphate.  相似文献

An organic nonlinear optical material 4-Iodo 4-nitrostilbene (IONS) has been synthesized and good optical quality single crystal was grown from ethyl methyl ketone solvent by the solution growth technique. Single and powder X-ray diffraction analyses reveals that the grown crystal belongs to monoclinic crystal system with noncentrosymmetric space group ‘P21’ and it has good crystalline nature. Functional groups and molecular structure of the title compound were confirmed by FTIR and 1H NMR respectively. The UV–Vis–NIR absorption study reveals no absorption in the visible region and the cut-off wavelength was found to be at 412.84 nm, TG/DTA, mass spectral analysis, photoluminescence and microhardness studies have been carried out for the grown crystals and results are discussed in detail. The second harmonic efficiency of the IONS was determined by Kurtz–Perry powder technique which reveals that the IONS crystal (3.1 V) has greater efficiency i.e., 143 times to that of KDP (21.7 mV).  相似文献

A noncentrosymmetric crystal was prepared from 2-amino-5-nitropyridine (2A5NP) and p-Phenolsulfonic acid, which was designed for second harmonic generation. Good quality single crystals of 2-amino-5-nitropyridinium Phenolsulfonate (2A5NPP) were successfully grown by the slow evaporation method with dimensions 10 × 4 × 3 mm3. The unit cell dimensions were determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The structural perfection of the grown crystals has been analyzed by high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) rocking curve measurements. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectral studies have been performed to identify the functional groups. The optical transmittance window and the lower cutoff wavelength of the 2A5NPP have been identified by UV-vis-NIR studies. Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were used to study its thermal properties. Powder test with Nd:YAG laser radiation shows a high second harmonic generation. The laser induced surface damage threshold for the grown crystal was measured using Nd:YAG laser.  相似文献

Single crystals of 2-amino-5-nitropyridinium-toluenesulfonate (2A5NPT) were grown by the slow cooling method. The unit cell dimensions were determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The thermal parameters - thermal diffusivity (α), thermal effusivity (e), thermal conductivity (K) and heat capacity (Cp) of 2A5NPT were measured by an improved photopyroelectric technique at room temperature. Single and multiple shot experiments performed on the grown crystals for the second harmonic of pulsed Nd:YAG laser (532 nm) show that it exhibits a high laser damage threshold which is a favorable property for nonlinear optical applications. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the grown crystal were evaluated for the frequency range 1 kHz-1 MHz in the temperature region 40-130 °C. Hardness values were measured using Vickers hardness measurement.  相似文献

Single crystals of one such material, zinc mercury thiocyanate ZnHg(SCN)4 have been grown in silica gel with gel technique by the process of diffusions and the optimum growth condition has been studied. Crystals of 4 mm length have been obtained. Their structural, optical and thermal properties have been studied. Structural analysis was carried out using an X-ray diffractometer and the crystal structure was confirmed to be tetragonal. Fourier transform infrared spectrum was obtained to confirm the functional groups. Transmission spectrum has been recorded in the solution state and the cut-off wavelength has been determined. Thermal stability of the grown crystal has been investigated by thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses. Nonlinear optical property of the crystal has been confirmed using the Kurtz powder technique and a study of its second harmonic generation efficiency in comparison with urea has been made.  相似文献

Potassium p-nitrophenolate dihydrate, a potential semiorganic nonlinear optical material, has been synthesized and grown by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. Single crystal X-ray analysis presents an unprecedented bonding between ions in the crystal with acentric structure. In the new structural investigation, p-nitrophenolate instead of producing bond between phenolic O and K+, it seems to put nitro group in bonding with the metal ion. Optical absorption shows excellent transmission in the entire visible and near-infrared region. Room temperature photocurrent, transport properties are carried out in order to enhance the application for second harmonic generation and opto-electronic devices. Dielectric constant is found to be independent at higher frequencies. The crystal possesses prominent positive photoconduction in the presence of photoactive centers formed with trap energy level. The nonlinear optical activity is confirmed by Kurtz powder test.  相似文献

The potential nonlinear optical material of Terbium (Tb3+) ion doped l-Histidine hydrochloride monohydrate (LHHC) single crystals were successfully grown. Tb3+:LHHC crystals of 7 mm × 5 mm × 3 mm and 59 mm length and 15 mm diameter have been grown by the slow solvent evaporation and Sankaranarayanan-Ramasamy (SR) techniques respectively. The grown crystals were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis to confirm the crystalline structure and morphology. High resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) studies revealed that the SR grown sample shows relatively good crystalline nature with 9″ full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) for the diffraction curve. Functional groups were identified by Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR). The optical transparency and band gaps of grown crystals were measured by UV–Vis spectroscopy. Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis (TG/DTA) studies reveal that the crystal was thermally stable up to 155 °C in SR grown crystal. Surface morphology of the growth plane was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The incorporation of Tb ion was estimated by EDAX. The frequency-dependent dielectric properties of the crystals were carried out for different temperatures. Vickers hardness study carried out on (1 0 0) face at room temperature shows increased hardness of the SR method grown crystal. Second harmonic generation efficiency of SEST and SR grown crystals are 3.2 and 3.5 times greater than that of pure KDP. The Photoluminescence (PL) studies of Tb3+ ions result from the radiative intra-configurational f-f transitions that occur from the 5D4 excited state to the 7Fj (j = 6, 5, 4, 3) ground states. The decay curve of the 5D4 level of emission was observed with a long life time of 319.2041 μs for the SR grown Tb3+:LHHC crystal.  相似文献

Single crystal XRD analysis confirmed the crystalline structure of the grown crystals. Their crystalline nature was also confirmed by powder XRD technique. The optical transmittance property was identified from UV-Vis spectrum. Dielectric measurements were performed as a function of frequency at different temperatures. DC conductivity and photoconductivity studies were also carried out for the crystal. The powder second harmonic generation efficiency (SHG) of the crystal was measured using Nd:YAG laser and the efficiency was found to be two times greater than that of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP).  相似文献

Potassium dihydrophosphate single crystals were grown from aqueous solutions onto a point seed using temperature reduction method by doping with different molar values of urea. The characterization of the grown crystals was made by visible and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Vicker's hardness studies, X-ray powder diffraction, non-linear optical and laser damage threshold measurements. By comparing these crystals with the ones grown from the pure solution, it is shown that 0.2-2.0 M of the urea additive enhances the laser damage threshold and the second harmonic efficiency more than by 25 and 20%, respectively. By means of the Bond method using a multipurpose three-crystal X-ray diffractometer it is shown that the presence of urea additive increases the crystal lattice parameter c of the grown crystals, whereas the lattice parameter a is by an order less sensitive to the changing urea concentration in the solution. The Vicker's hardness studies at room temperature carried out on (1 0 0) and (0 0 1) crystallographic planes show an increased hardness of the doped crystals (grown in the presence of urea additive) on the plane (0 0 1) in comparison with that of pure potassium dihydrophosphate crystal.  相似文献

Abstract

Potassium lithium niobate crystals have been grown by the resistance heating Czochralski technique. The optical transmission spectrum of the crystal has been determined. The results showed that the spectrum properties of potassium lithium niobate crystals grown from a melt with a higher Li2O content are better than that of crystals grown from the melt with a lower Li2O content. The crystals grown by this method have good quality and second harmonic generation properties. Frequency doubling results of a quasi cw-Ti:sapphire laser using crystal samples showed that potassium lithium niobate can be used to double the frequency of near infrared quasi cw-lasers in the 890–960 nm wavelength range.  相似文献

Semiorganic nonlinear optical material l-leucine hydrobromide (LEHBr) has been synthesized and single crystals were grown by solvent evaporation method at a constant temperature of 35 °C. CHN test, FTIR and XRD analysis were performed for identification of the material. Thermal and mechanical stability of the grown crystal were investigated by DTA-TGA analysis and microhardness measurement respectively. Suitability of LEHBr for NLO application was studied by optical transmission study and second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency measurement. SHG efficiency was found to be 4 times of KDP. First hyperpolarizability, dipole moment and polarizability of LEHBr were calculated at the framework of Hartree–Fock (HF) with 6-311G(d) basis set. First order hyperpolarizability was found to be 3.233 × 10−33 esu which is 4.9 times of urea.  相似文献

A new potentially useful nonlinear optical organic material, 1-(5-chlorothiophen-2-yl)-3-(2,3-dimethoxyphenyl)prop-2-en-1-one, has been synthesized and grown as a high-quality single crystal by the slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were characterized by FT-IR, NMR, thermal analysis, and UV–visible spectroscopy. The material is thermally stabile up to 111 °C. The mechanical property of the grown crystals was studied using Vickers microhardness tester and the load dependence hardness was observed. The third order nonlinear optical properties of the material such as real and imaginary part of χ(3), nonlinear absorption coefficient and nonlinear refractive index were determined using nanosecond laser pulses at 532 nm wavelength by employing Z-scan technique. The nonlinear refractive index is found to be of the order of 10−11 cm2 W−1. The magnitude of third order susceptibility is of the order of 10−13 esu. The observed increase in the third order nonlinearity in these molecules clearly indicates the electronic origin. The compounds exhibit good optical limiting at 532 nm. The best optical limiting behavior of this molecule is due to the substituted strong electron donor.  相似文献

A semi-organic nonlinear optical (NLO) material, lithium-p-nitrophenolate trihydrate (LPNP) was synthesized. Single crystals of dimensions 20 × 7 × 3 mm3 were harvested following the solvent evaporation technique. The functional groups present in the compound were identified from FT-IR and FT-Raman spectral analyses, and its molecular structure was confirmed. Identification of the compound was accomplished by X-ray diffraction technique (powder and single crystal XRD). The unit-cell dimensions and the morphology of the grown crystals were identified from single crystal XRD measurements. The thermal transport properties, thermal effusivity (e), thermal diffusivity (α), thermal conductivity (k) and heat capacity (C p) were measured by the photopyroelectric technique at room temperature. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss were also measured as a function of frequency between 42 Hz and 5 MHz, and temperature between 32 and 100 °C. From optical transmittance measurements, the direct optical band gap of the LPNP crystal was estimated to be 2.47 eV. Laser damage threshold is 60.91 GW cm−2. Powder second harmonic generation (SHG) measurement was carried out using a modified Kurtz–Perry technique. Third order nonlinear response was studied using Z-scan technique with a He–Ne laser (632.8 nm, 35 mW). The magnitude and the sign of the nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refraction are derived from a transmittance curve. The NLO parameters Intensity dependent refractive index n 2, nonlinear absorption coefficient β and third order susceptibility χ(3) were estimated.  相似文献

The Refractive Index was determined experimentally for the first time and found to be 1.508 for the incident wavelength of 632.8 nm. The second harmonic generation efficiency was determined using Kurtz and Perry powder technique and it was 0.7 times than that of the KDP crystal. Thermal properties were studied by thermo gravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis. Dielectric studies were carried out at different frequencies for various temperatures. The mechanical behaviour of the grown crystal was studied using Vickers micro hardness tester. The growth mechanism and surface features are investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).  相似文献
