A novel high-speed fibre Bragg grating (FBG) sensor interrogator using dispersion-compensating fibre is proposed and demonstrated. The wavelength shift measurement of the FBG sensor is converted to time-domain measurement. The high-speed potential of this scheme was investigated experimentally, demonstrating an effective sampling speed of 2.44 megasamples per second. 相似文献

An Er-doped superfluorescent fibre source with enhanced mean-wavelength stability 2 ppm over the 0degC to 70degC range using chirped fibre grating is demonstrated. The effects of the temperature of the fibre, the pump power, the pump wavelength, the pump state of polarisation, and the feedback power have been considered and minimised with corresponding techniques. 相似文献

Efficient, wide-stopband fibre transmission filters with single narrow transmission bands produced using multiply exposed chirped fibre grating resonators are reported. Tailored combinations of these structures with additional chirped gratings have achieved single passband transmission with an effective finesse of 48. A photonic microwave true-time delay using a tapered chirped fibre Bragg grating is proposed and fabricated. A resistive heating electrode coated on the tapered fibre and a single-wavelength light was incorporated to control the time delay continuously without any mechanical perturbation and moving. It was achieved by adjusting the reflection positions of the optical signal carrying the microwave signal from within the tapered grating via the thermo-optic effect. The measured time delay was /spl sim/120 ps with electrical power consumption of 250 mW. 相似文献

A simple method for time delay measurement of a chirped fibre grating by using bidirectional modulation of a Mach-Zehnder modulator is proposed. The bidirectionally modulated light with time difference produces an interference fringe in the RF domain. An approach to achieve spectral filtering is proposed, using a fibre Bragg grating (FBG) embedded polarisation maintaining fibre Sagnac loop mirror (SLM) through temperature tuning. The opposite temperature sensitivities of the FBG Bragg resonance wavelengths and the interferometric peaks of the fibre SLM, as well as their pronounced difference in bandwidth, provide an opportunity to realise spectral filtering. 相似文献

A technique for fabricating fibre gratings with an accurately controlled chirp profile is demonstrated. The technique involves writing a grating over a section of fibre, the cladding of which has been tapered by etching it in HF acid. A strain gradient along the taper is used to produce the chirp either during or after writing. Linearly chirped gratings with bandwidths up to 4.8 nm have been demonstrated. A simple scheme for the photonic microwave true-time delay with high tunability based on a tunable chirped fibre Bragg grating without centre wavelength shift is experimentally demonstrated. Described is a phase-locked multi-carrier light generator with a flattened spectral envelope that contains two phase modulators and a dispersion medium. By adopting a chirped fibre Bragg grating as a dispersion medium instead of a long normal dispersion fibre, the stability of the optical output spectrum can be increased and the size of the multi-carrier light generator reduced. A prototype has been built with this configuration, that generates a 61 carrier light with a power deviation of less than 8 dB. 相似文献

A folded-type integrated-optic spectrum analyzer (IOSA) using reflection-type chirped grating lenses butt-coupled to a LiNbO3 waveguide Bragg cell is presented. The lenses can be easily fabricated by the well-established planar process, and the IOSA has good performance as well as a reduced device length. A narrow linewidth, low chirp, wavelength selectable, packaged alternative to current DFB structures has been developed which employs a fibre reflection grating incorporated in the fibre pigtail. The wavelength of the packaged device can be determined by the appropriate choice of fibre grating coupled to the antireflection coated facet of a 1.55 mu m BH laser. Linewidths of less than 50 kHz, sidemode suppression of more than 30 dB and chirp when modulated at 1.2 Gbit/s of <0.5 MHz have been demonstrated.<> 相似文献

Amplitude modulation of multiple radio frequency driving signals allows an acoustooptic tunable filter to provide wavelength demultiplexing.
