利用WDM光纤耦合器的光纤光栅传感解调技术   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1  
根据 WDM 光纤耦合器波长解调方案的工作原理、偏振特性以及影响系统波长分辨力的因素,提出一种改进的利用 WDM 光纤耦合器的光纤光栅传感解调技术。该技术在原技术的基础上,采用偏振控制器控制入射光偏振状态,提高了解调的精度和稳定性。对 WDM 光纤耦合器的多次波长扫描结果表明,采用偏振控制器后,其波长误差可减小到 5pm 左右。实验采用 1540/1560nm的 WDM 光纤耦合器对单点光纤光栅应变传感器进行静态解调,结果表明:按此技术开发的解调系统具有 0.01nm 波长分辨力和 10nm 的波长线性解调范围。  相似文献

We describe a Luus-Jaakola (LJ) optimization algorithm approach for the design of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical communication systems by using phase-only sampled-fiber Bragg gratings. The LJ method is used to optimize the phase grating as well as the number of segments which form the grating. The numerical example of WDM is studied. The method is easily applicable and shows promising results with low refractive index modulation.  相似文献

Effective multiplexing for a very large number of fiber-optic fiber-Bragg-grating-based Fabry-Perot (FBGFP) sensors is proposed that is based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and spatial-frequency division multiplexing (SFDM). For WDM, FBGFP sensors are arranged in different wavelength domains formed by a series of chirped fiber Bragg gratings with different central wavelengths while the sensors with different cavity lengths within the same wavelength domain are multiplexed by use of SFDM because they have different spatial frequencies as a result of their different cavity lengths. In principle, a thousand FBGFP sensors could be multiplexed with such an approach. The experimental results show that a strain accuracy of better than +/-10 microepsilon has been achieved with little cross talk.  相似文献

Gain improvement in a dual-stage S-band erbium-doped fiber amplifier (S-band EDFA) is demonstrated using a broadband fiber Bragg grating (FBG) operating in the conventional-band (C-band) region or a C-band/S-band wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) coupler which filters out the forward C-band amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) in the amplifier system, thus increasing the population inversion in the S-band region. The gain for the amplifier with the WDM coupler increases by about 8.5 dB with an input signal power of ?40 dBm, compared to that of the conventional dual-stage amplifier. The gain improvement varies from 4.0–9.2 dB at a wavelength region between 1480 to 1512 nm without a significant noise figure penalty.  相似文献

设计了两种基于光纤布拉格光栅的波分复用(WDM)系统,一种为基于光纤光栅的四路波分复用系统,另一种为结合光分插复用器(OADM)的四路波分复用系统。给出了基于Opti System的波分复用光传输系统仿真模型,对复用及解复用后的光信号进行仿真得出了光谱图,对传输性能及Q因子、误码率、眼图等参数进行分析。在第二种结构中光纤光栅作为色散补偿器、光反射器和滤波器使用,可以实现任一波长的上载和下路。两种波分复用系统眼图张开良好,误码率均低于10e-9。证明了波分复用系统的正确性和设计方案的可行性。  相似文献

Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) is an important technology for expanding the capacity of optical network. The optical component based on the superimposed Bragg gratings shows that it can be used as one of advantageous multichannel components because of its excellent angle and wavelength selectivities. An optimized method for recording multiple Bragg gratings for wavelength demultiplexing in optical telecommunication band is proposed to achieve gratings with equal diffraction efficiency. A structure of three layers with twenty four gratings is demonstrated in a LiNbO(3):Fe crystal by employing the optimized recording method. Then an initial wavelength demultiplexing experiment based on the formed gratings is carried out in optical telecommunication C-band. The results obtained by measuring and analyzing the transmitted spectra of the fabricated gratings show that the diffraction efficiencies of the gratings are uniform. It is suggested that this kind of multiple gratings can be used for increasing the number of the demultiplexed wavelengths in recording medium with unit volume for WDM.  相似文献

The wavelength response of a waveguide volume grating coupler (WVGC) is analyzed for coupling light from a slab waveguide into the superstrate. A leaky-mode approach is used in conjunction with rigorous coupled-wave analysis. A quantitative theoretical study of the effect of index modulation, waveguide index, and grating thickness on the wavelength bandpass of a WVGC is also presented. The FWHM wavelength bandpasses found for high-efficiency couplers range from 173 to 525 nm. The various Bragg conditions that can be used in designing a WVGC are also presented and compared. The use of the propagation constant of the mode being outcoupled as the incident wave vector in the Bragg condition is shown to produce the highest coupling efficiency.  相似文献

Optical properties and taper profiles of 1.3l/l.55-μm wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) fiber couplers have been experimentally analyzed. A newly developed microheater was used for the fabrication in air. The elongation lengths were controlled so that the fourth coupling peak would reach the 1.55-μm wavelength. The wavelength difference Δλ between the peak coupling wavelength of 1.55 μm and that around 1.31 μm decreased linearly at each fusion temperature with the fusion time. At each fusion temperature, the Δλ value decreased linearly with the elongation length and decreased exponentially with the neck width. The Δλ value and the taper shape at the minimum limit of the degree of fusion were estimated. The fabrication condition and the taper shape for 1.31-μm and 1.55-μm WDM coupling were also analyzed.  相似文献

We describe the design, fabrication, and performance of a fiber Bragg grating-based tunable optic filter. The filter, driven by two piezostacks, consists of a flexural hinge structure for displacement magnification and a fiber-ferrule assembly for axial compression of the fiber grating. Finite-element analysis was used to design the mechanical structure to achieve the required displacement magnification and the force for grating compression. A passive thermal compensation design was implemented to reduce thermal-induced wavelength drift. A feedback control system with a linear variable differential transformer was employed to control the displacement for accurate wavelength tuning and fine-tuning resolution. This tunable filter has achieved a closed-loop switching time of 17.3 ms, and a passive thermal compensation that reduced the thermal drift of the Bragg wavelength to 1.5 pm/C. The flexural-hinge structure that offers negligible backlash, noise-free motion, no need of lubricants, and no wear ensures its long-term reliability.  相似文献

提出一种基于弱反射布拉格光栅的新型分布式温度传感网络,将WDM与OTDR相结合,采用WDM技术提高光栅的复用容量,利用OTDR对各个弱光栅进行实时检测,以实现光栅的密集串行复用,并提高空间分辨率。使用可调谐脉冲激光为光源,多组不同中心波长弱光栅等间距刻制在一根光纤上。利用一根光纤刻制的三组反射率为3%,中心波长分别为1544.660nm、1545.802nm和1546.900nm的9个FBG进行了温度实验。实验结果表明,在5~80℃的温度范围内,FBG的中心波长随温度变化呈良好的线性,线性度达到99.6%以上,温度测量的分辨率最高达到0.11℃,空间分辨率可达2m。  相似文献

A four-element hydrophone array system using a fiber Bragg grating laser system is described. The demodulation technique for the array combines a 3x3 coupler-based interferometer and three wavelength division multiplexers (WDMs). It is believed to be a new passive approach to use a WDM and a unique arithmetic method. The operational frequency limit depends only on the frequency of its electronic portion. The designed system has achieved a minimum of approximately 7.2x10(-7) pm/ radicalHz detectable wavelength perturbation for frequencies that are greater than 200 Hz.  相似文献

We present what is to our knowledge the first comprehensive investigation of the use of blazed fiber Bragg gratings (BFBGs) to interrogate wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) in-fiber optical sensor arrays. We show that the light outcoupled from the core of these BFBGs is radiated with sufficient optical power that it may be detected with a low-cost charge-coupled device (CCD) array. We present thorough system performance analysis that shows sufficient spectral-spatial resolution to decode sensors with a WDM separation of 75 rhom, signal-to-noise ratio greater than 45-dB bandwidth of 70 nm, and drift of only 0.1 rhom. We show the system to be polarization-state insensitive, making the BFBG-CCD spectral analysis technique a practical, extremely low-cost, alternative to traditional tunable filter approaches.  相似文献

This work first considers a review of the dominant current methods for fibre Bragg grating wavelength interrogation. These methods include WDM interferometry, tunable filter (both Fabry-Perot and acousto-optic) demultiplexing, CCD/prism technique and a newer hybrid method utilizing Fabry-Perot and interferometric techniques. Two applications using these techniques are described: hull loads monitoring on an all-composite fast patrol boat and bolt pre-load loss monitoring in a composite beam in conjunction with a state-space modelling data analysis technique.  相似文献

Based on the functions of the effective refractive index of fundamental mode in step-index fiber, a theoretical mode about the Bragg wavelength shift of micro/nanofiber Bragg grating (MNFBG) is presented. The numerical simulation results demonstrate, for a MNFBG with given radius, the Bragg wavelength shifts to short wavelength as ambient temperature increases, and the reason results from the effective index decreasing with the increase of ambient temperature. Moreover, with the reduction of fiber-core radius, as well as the increase of ambient index and its thermo-optic coefficient, the temperature sensitivity, linearity and linear response range of the temperature-dependent Bragg wavelength shift are improved obviously. Especially for a MNFBG with fiber radius smaller than 0.5?μm, the linearity of Bragg wavelength shifting with temperature will be close to the theoretical limit, and the temperature sensitivity is proportional to the thermo-optic coefficient of the ambient liquid. Compared with the temperature properties of conventional fiber Bragg grating (FBG), all the results will provide much theoretical guides for FBG applied in fiber sensing and communication.  相似文献

Bragg grating reflectors etched in amorphous silicon overlay films have been integrated with Ti:LiNbO3 optical waveguides to obtain a narrow (0.05 nm) reflectance spectrum with a > 20 dB dip in the transmittance spectrum. These results were realized at a wavelength of 1542.7 nm for TE polarization on an x-cut, y-propagating substrate with gratings etched to a depth of approximately 93 nm in a 105 nm thick silicon film over a length of 12.5 mm. The reflectance in the channel waveguides is found to be strongly dependent on the depth of the etched grating. The effect of the Bragg waveguide loss factor on the transmittance and reflectance spectra is investigated by using a model for contradirectional coupling that includes an attenuation coefficient. The values for coupling constants kappa and amplitude attenuation constants alpha of samples etched for different time durations to control the grating depths are obtained from the model through the use of the depth of the dips in the transmittance spectra and the spectral widths of the reflectance peaks. It is concluded that the corrugated Si overlay film increases the insertion loss by approximately 2.7 dB, and the loss is not significantly affected by the grating depth.  相似文献

Wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) techniques provide many advantages for building optical interconnect networks for massively parallel processing (MPP) systems. A design for a 1024-channel network for MPP systems based on the interconnection-cached network with vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays with one wavelength is described. We then show how a WDM version with four different wavelengths can increase the channel density. We also show how a WDM system can reduce the fan-in loss by a factor of 4. All the VCSEL's in each array are of the same wavelength, while different arrays use different wavelengths. We describe our experimental WDM subsystem containing four VCSEL arrays, operating at wavelengths of 843, 950, 970, and 980 nm, and three different WDM filters for multiplexing-demultiplexing. We present the operational results of the subsystem at 1 Gbit/s per channel.  相似文献

A multiwavelength laser source composed of a single semiconductor optical amplifier and a commercially available off-the-shelf wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) filter is constructed and tested under actively mode-locking operation. Five independent mode-locked wavelength channels are generated simultaneously, with a wavelength spacing of 1.6 nm established by the WDM filter. In addition, to demonstrate the potential of this mixed time-frequency, or hybrid WDM-optical time-division multiplexed, signal, we demonstrate a simple parallel-to-serial wavelength conversion to increase the pulse repetition rate of the mode-locked laser by a number of output wavelengths for applications in high-performance optical sampling applications.  相似文献

The properties of wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) narrowband filters used in tilted collimated light are described. The wavelength shift for s polarization in a low-index-spacer filter is larger than that for p polarization when the filter is tilted, but it is smaller in a high-index-spacer filter. Therefore the passbands of the tilted filter can be centered at the same wavelength for two polarization modes by use of high- and low-index materials, as appropriate, as spacers or by selection of a moderate-index material instead of a spacer. With such spacers, WDM filters used for incident angles of 20 degrees or even greater are constructed. Experimental results agree with the computed ones.  相似文献
