Er3+ ions‐doped germano‐gallate oxyfluoride glass‐ceramic containing BaF2 nanocrystals was prepared through conventional melt quenching and subsequent thermal treatment method. X‐ray diffraction patterns and transmission electron microscope images confirmed the formation of BaF2 nanocrystals in glass‐ceramics. Preferential incorporation of Er3+ ions into the BaF2 nanocrystals were confirmed by the absorption spectra and emission spectra, and enhanced upconversion emission and infrared emission were observed. Relatively high transmittance in the mid‐infrared region indicated great potential of this germano‐gallate oxyfluoride glass‐ceramics as host materials for the efficient mid‐infrared emission from rare‐earth ions.  相似文献

Rare‐earth‐doped oxyfluoride germanate and borate glasses were synthesized and next studied using spectroscopic methods. Influence of fluoride modifier on luminescence properties of rare earths in different glass hosts was examined. The excitation and emission spectra of Pr3+ and Er3+ ions in the studied glasses were registered. The emission spectra of Pr3+ ions in germanate and borate glasses are quite different and depend strongly on the glass host. In samples doped with Er3+ ions emission bands located around 1530 nm corresponding to the main 4I13/24I15/2 laser transition were registered, independently of the glass host. Quite long‐lived near‐infrared luminescence of Er3+ ions was observed for germanate glasses with low BaF2 content, while in borate glass systems influence of barium fluoride on luminescence lifetimes is not so evident. The Judd–Ofelt calculations were used in order to determine quantum efficiencies of excited states of rare‐earth ions in germanate and borate glasses.  相似文献

The FTIR spectroscopic technique was used in the study of ternary polymer–metal complexes containing two polyelectrolytes of opposite charge and metal ions. The structure of the ternary (PAA‐Fe3+‐PVP) complexes was examined by following the changes in their infrared spectra. It was found that the shapes of the absorption bands of the resultant compounds are influenced by the presence of Fe3+. According to this result it was suggested that two types of structure which differ in the composition are formed, one of which results from the coordination of Fe3+ with PAA‐PVP complex and the other is due to the formation of Fe3+ polycarboxylate. Comparison between the spectrum of PAA‐PVP complex and those of the compounds resulted from the reaction between the two opposite charged electrolytes, PAA and PVP and each of the divalent metal chlorides NiCl2, CoCl2, CuCl2, and ZnCl2) led to the conclusion that a reaction took place between the divalent transition metal chlorides and the extent of reaction depends on the nature of metal ions and PAA‐PVP complex. The FTIR spectra of the precipitate resulted from the mixtures of PAA‐PVP and Ni(NO3)2 or Sr(NO3)2 were investigated. It was noted that the addition of Ni(NO3)2 or Sr(NO3)2 to the mixture of the electrolytes of PAA and PVP provoked appreciable changes in the characteristic spectral features of the complex resulting from the interaction of the metal ions with the polymer–polymer complex. The FTIR spectra of the precipitate resulted from the reaction between CeCl3, ErCl3, and LaCl3 were also investigated. It was concluded that a reaction took place between the rare earth metals and the PPC. This means that ternary polymer–metal–polymer complexes were formed. The extent of changes in the spectral features differs from metal to metal according to the nature of metal ions. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2007  相似文献

Uniform coating of nanometer‐scale BaTiO3–Dy2O3–SiO2 layers on spherical Ni particles are achieved by controlled hydrolysis of tetrabutyl titanate (TBT), hydrothermal reaction with Ba(OH)2, and co‐precipitation of tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) and Dy(NO3)3. The composition of the coating layer is similar to rare earth oxide‐silica–doped BaTiO3, which is the main component of dielectric layer for base metal electrode (BME) multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). After coating, the shrinkage onset temperature of Ni particles is significantly increased. After sintered to pellets, the electrode has good electrical conductivity. This electrode material has good compatibility with rare earth oxide and silica‐doped BaTiO3 dielectric materials, and could serve as promising candidate for application in the next generation BME‐MLCCs.  相似文献

Enhanced luminescence in rare‐earth‐doped chalcogenide glass–ceramics is of great interest for the potential integrated optoelectronic devices. However, fundamental mechanism on the enhancement of luminescence upon crystallization remains largely unknown. We report the fabrication and characterization of wide transmission chalcogenide glass and glass–ceramics based on the 25GeS2·35Ga2S3·40CsCl:0.3Er glass composition, and discuss the mechanism of enhanced luminescence. By monitoring the 4I9/24I15/2 of Er3+ transition, up‐conversion luminescence of 12 times higher was observed in glass–ceramics compared with that in base glass. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and Raman scattering spectroscopies were employed to obtain the information of selective environment of Er3+ ions and microstructural evolution with the crystallization progress. Both of them evidenced that the enhanced up‐conversion luminescence was mainly related to the local environmental evolution from a mixed chlorine‐sulfur coordination to a low phonon energy chlorine coordination in the residual glassy matrix of glass–ceramics.  相似文献

Lead tungstate PbWO4 nanocrystals in transparent lead borate glass‐ceramics containing Er3+ ions were fabricated. Luminescence spectra at about 1530 nm due to main 4I13/24I15/2 laser transition of Er3+ ions were examined for glass samples before and after heat treatment. Near‐infrared luminescence of Er3+ ions in glass‐ceramics is enhanced and long‐lived in comparison to precursor glasses. It suggests that the Er3+ ions are partially incorporated into PbWO4 crystalline phase.  相似文献

A series of glasses composed of xB2O3–8Al2O3‐(90?x)Na2O–R2O3 (x = 65, 70, 75, 80, 85; R = Dy3+, Tb3+, Sm3+) were prepared through melt‐quenching. Structural evolution was induced by varying the glass composition. Increasing the glass network former B2O3 enhanced the luminescence of rare‐earth ions, as observed in the emission spectra. The mechanism of the glass structural evolution was investigated by the NMR spectra analysis. The dispersant effect of the glass structure was believed to promote the better distribution of the rare‐earth ions in the matrix and reduced the concentration quenching between them. The relationship between the glass structure and its optical properties was established.  相似文献

The Er3+ concentration dependencies of upconversion luminescence in oxy‐fluoride glass and glass‐ceramics containing PbF2 nanocrystals were investigated. Strong red emission from the 4F9/2 → 4I15/2 transition was observed with the addition of ~0.8 mol% Er3+ ions, whereas ~10 mol% of Er3+ is required to achieve such emission in several other crystalline hosts. Intensities of red emission further increased with the formation of nanocrystals through heat treatment. The Er3+ ions enriched in glass and segregated preferentially inside the PbF2 nanocrystals that decreased the distance among Er3+ ions and thereby facilitated energy transfer.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to better understand the incorporation of rare‐earth elements in glass‐ceramics of nuclear interest. We synthesized glass‐ceramics from glasses in the system SiO2–B2O3–Na2O–CaO–Al2O3–MoO3–Gd2O3 by various heat treatments. Gadolinium is used both as a spectroscopic probe and as a minor actinide surrogate. Glass‐ceramics contain only one crystalline phase in the bulk: powellite (CaMoO4). This phase can incorporate Gd3+ and Na+ ions by substitutions on the Ca site. We demonstrated that the charge compensation by Na+ favors the incorporation of rare‐earth elements. Moreover, the incorporated elements do not seem to be randomly distributed into the powellite structure.  相似文献

Self‐activated compound serving as host sensitizer for trivalent rare‐earth ions has been intensively studied, but only in more recent years did it extend to non‐rare‐earth ions. In the present work, it is demonstrated for the first time that the parity‐forbidden Mn4+ red emission can be effectively enhanced by utilizing the strong parity‐allowed absorption of O2?–W6+ charge transfer band and the energy transfer from “WO2” groups to Mn4+ ions. Hopefully, the presently studied self‐activated Na2WO2F4 can be developed as stable color converter for field‐emission displays.  相似文献

A class of Yb3+/Er3+ co‐doped NaY(MoO4)2 upconversion (UC) phosphors have been successfully synthesized by a facile hydrothermal route with further calcination. The structural properties and the phase composition of the samples were characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD). The UC luminescence properties of Yb3+/Er3+ co‐doped NaY(MoO4)2 were investigated in detail. Concentration‐dependent studies revealed that the optimal composition was realized for a 2% Er3+ and 10% Yb3+‐doping concentration. Two‐photon excitation UC mechanism further illustrated that the green enhancement arised from a novel energy‐transfer (ET) pathway which entailed a strong ground‐state absorption of Yb3+ ions and the excited state absorption of Yb3+–MoO42? dimers, followed by an effective energy transfer to the high‐energy state of Er3+ ions. We have also studied the thermal properties of UC emissions between 303 and 523 K for the optical thermometry behavior under a 980 nm laser diode excitation for the first time. The higher sensitivity for temperature measurement could be obtained compared to the previous reported rare‐earth ions fluorescence based optical temperature sensors. These results indicated that the present sample was a promising candidate for optical temperature sensors with high sensitivity.  相似文献

The effect of alkaline‐earth ions on Na transport in aluminosilicate glasses was studied by measuring ionic conductivity for a systematic compositional series of Na2O–RO–Al2O3–SiO2 glasses (R=Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba). The Na transport in aluminosilicate glass could be affected by compositional changes in aluminum coordination and nonbridging oxygen as well as physical properties such as dielectric constant, shear modulus, and ionic packing factor. Through careful experimental designs and measurements, the main determinants among these parameters were identified. 27Al MAS‐NMR indicated that all aluminum species contained in these glasses are four‐coordinated. The activation energy for ion conductivity decreased with increasing aluminum content and decreasing ionic radii of the alkaline‐earth ion in the region where [Al] < [Na]. When the aluminum content exceeded the sodium content ([Al] > [Na]), the composition dependence of the activation energy depended on the specific alkaline earth. These results are explained based on variations in free volume and dielectric constant caused by structural changes around the AlO4 charge compensation sites. These structure changes occur in response to the smaller size and higher field strength of the alkaline‐earth ions, and are most prevalent in the compositions which require bridging of two AlO4 sites by the alkaline‐earth ion for charge compensation.  相似文献

Surface structures of iron–phosphate glasses were examined using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Cr2O3, CoO, and Al2O3 were introduced to the glass by the replacement of a part of Fe2O3, and the simulated fission products are also added. The obtained glasses showed high chemical durabilities by MCC‐1 test. In situ high‐temperature and room‐temperature XPS measurements were conducted on the polished sample surfaces and also those after 1‐week chemical durability test. Unique trends were observed in XPS spectra on heating and after the chemical durability test, respectively. Nature of the glass surface of iron–phosphate glasses was explained from the point of view of surface energy, and the origin of high chemical durability and the effect of chromium ions were discussed based on the changes on surface composition and valence states of transition‐metal ions.  相似文献

Rare‐earth modified ZrB2–SiC coatings were prepared via mechanical mixing Sm2O3 or Tm2O3 powders with spray‐dried ZrB2, or by chemically doping samarium ions into spray‐dried ZrB2. In either approach, SiC powders were also added and coatings were fabricated via shrouded air plasma spray. An oxyacetylene torch was utilized to evaluate the coatings under high heat flux conditions for hold times of 30 and 60 s. The resulting phases and microstructures were evaluated as a function of rare‐earth type, modification approach, and ablation time. A brittle m‐ZrO2 scale was observed in the ZrB2/SiC‐only coating after ablative tests; during cooling this scale detached from the unreacted coating. In contrast, rare‐earth modified coatings formed a protective oxide scale consisting primarily of either Sm0.2Zr0.8O1.9 or Tm0.2Zr0.8O1.9, along with small amount of m‐ZrO2. These rare‐earth oxide scales displayed high thermal stability and remained adhered to the unreacted coating during heating and cooling, offering additional oxidation protection.  相似文献

Novel Eu3+‐doped transparent oxyfluoride glass‐ceramics containing BaLuF5 nanocrystals were successfully fabricated by melt‐quenching technique for the first time. Analyses of XRD patterns prove that the new precipitated glass‐ceramics are crystallized in cubic BaLuF5 based on isostructural BaGdF5. Intense red emissions observed in glass ceramics are attributed to the enrichment of Eu3+ ions into BaLuF5 nanocrystals. Besides, obvious stark splitting emissions, low forced electric dipole 5D07F2 transition, and long decay lifetimes of Eu3+ ions also evidence the partition of Eu3+ ions into BaLuF5 nanocrystals with low phonon energy. Such transparent material may find applications in photonics.  相似文献

Gallium (Ga) helps solubilize rare‐earth ions in chalcogenide glasses, but has been found to form the dominant crystallizing selenide phase in bulk glass in our previous work. Here, the crystallization behavior is compared of as‐annealed 0–3000 ppmw Dy3+‐doped Ge–As–Ga–Se glasses with different Ga levels: Ge16.5As(19?x)GaxSe64.5 (at.%), for x = 3 and 10, named Ga3 and Ga10 glass series, respectively. X‐ray diffraction and high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy are employed to examine crystals in the bulk of the as‐prepared glasses, and the crystalline phase is proved to be the same: Ge‐modified, face centered cubic α‐Ga2Se3. Light scattering of polished glass samples is monitored using Fourier transform spectroscopy. When Ga is decreased from 10 to 3 at.%, the bulk crystallization is dramatically reduced and the optical scattering loss decreases. Surface defects, with a rough topology observed for both series of as‐prepared chalcogenide glasses, are demonstrated to comprise Dy, Si, and [O]. For the first time, evidence for the proposed nucleation agent Dy2O3 is found inside the bulk of as‐prepared glass. This is an important result because rare‐earth ions bound in a high phonon–energy oxide local environment are, as a consequence, inactive mid‐infrared fluorophores because they undergo preferential nonradiative decay of excited states.  相似文献

A series of CuO/Ce0.6Zr0.4O2 catalysts doped with rare earth (Y, La) oxides and transition metal (Fe, Co, Ni) promoters were synthesized by the coprecipitation method. The effects of the additive type and content on the structure, redox properties, and water‐gas shift (WGS) catalytic activity were investigated in detail by X‐ray diffraction, N2 physisorption, scanning electron microscopy, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, H2 temperature‐programmed reduction, and Raman spectroscopy. The catalytic activity was tested in terms of CO in H2‐rich coal‐derived synthesis gas, which simulated the actual gas composition of an integrated gasification combined cycle system. The experimental results revealed the beneficial role of doping with 3 wt % Fe in enhancing the catalytic performance by increasing the oxygen storage and mobility capacity, the reducibility, and the synergistic interaction between copper oxide and ceria‐zirconia.  相似文献

Phase transition and high‐temperature properties of rare‐earth niobates (LnNbO4, where Ln = La, Dy and Y) were studied in situ at high temperatures using powder X‐ray diffraction and thermal analysis methods. These materials undergo a reversible, pure ferroelastic phase transition from a monoclinic (S.G. I2/a) phase at low temperatures to a tetragonal (S.G. I41/a) phase at high temperatures. While the size of the rare‐earth cation is identified as the key parameter, which determines the transition temperature in these materials, it is the niobium cation which defines the mechanism. Based on detailed crystallographic analysis, it was concluded that only distortion of the NbO4 tetrahedra is associated with the ferroelastic transition in the rare‐earth niobates, and no change in coordination of Nb5+ cation. The distorted NbO4 tetrahedron, it is proposed, is energetically more stable than a regular tetrahedron (in tetragonal symmetry) due to decrease in the average Nb–O bond distance. The distortion is affected by the movement of Nb5+ cation along the monoclinic b‐axis (tetragonal c‐axis before transition), and is in opposite directions in alternate layers parallel to the (010). The net effect on transition is a shear parallel to the monoclinic [100] and a contraction along the monoclinic b‐axis. In addition, anisotropic thermal expansion properties and specific heat capacity changes accompanying the transition in the studied rare‐earth niobate systems are also discussed.  相似文献

Chalcogenide glasses (ChGs) containing II‐VI chalcogenide (ChG) nanocrystals such as ZnS/Se have recently been intensively studied as promising mid‐infrared nonlinear optics and laser materials, yet preparation of pure‐phase II‐VI nanocrystals embedded in ChGs via controlled crystallization is still very challenging. In this study, a new system of ChGs and glass ceramics (GCs), viz., (100?x)As2S3xZnSe (x = 0 ~ 30 mol%), is synthesized, and its physical and optical properties including density, molar volume, microhardness, glass transition temperature, glass network structure, transmission, and refractive index are comprehensively characterized. Significantly, it is initially demonstrated that pure ZnS nanocrystals can be precipitated in GCs simply by a thermal treatment process. The composition and thermal treatment temperature dependencies of crystallization are studied using X‐ray diffraction spectroscopy, and the morphology of the nanocrystals by high‐resolution transmission electron microscope. The ChG GCs with embedded ZnS nanocrystals retaining good transparency can be a potential host laser material for divalent transition metals (e.g., Cr2+/Fe2+, etc.), and thus used for ultrabroadband tunable continuous or ultra‐short‐pulsed mid‐infrared fiber lasers.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline transition metal oxides (NTMOs) have been successfully prepared by three different methods: novel quick precipitation method (Cr2O3 and Fe2O3); surfactant mediated method (CuO), and reduction of metal complexes with hydrazine as reducing agent (Mn2O3). The nano particles have been characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) which shows an average particle diameter of 35–54 nm. Their catalytic activity was measured in the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP). AP decomposition undergoes a two step process where the addition of metal oxide nanocrystals led to a shifting of the high temperature decomposition peak toward lower temperature. The kinetics of the thermal decomposition of AP and catalyzed AP has also been evaluated using model fitting and isoconversional method.  相似文献
