Each of 28 nonautistic children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and mental retardation received placebo, methylphenidate (0.4 mg/kg/day), and fenfluramine (gradually increased to 1.5 mg/kg/day) for 4 weeks each in a double-blind, crossover design. Teacher ratings indicated significant improvements with both active drugs on subscales designated as Conduct Problem, Hyperactivity, and Irritability, but methylphenidate alone produced improvements on an Inattention subscale. Parent ratings indicated significant improvements with both drugs on subscales labeled Hyperactivity, Motor Excess, and Conduct Problem. Fenfluramine alone caused improved parent ratings on Irritability and Inappropriate Speech, and on Conners' Abbreviated Symptom Questionnaire. Unlike a previous study, subgroup analyses failed to show a significantly better clinical response to methylphenidate for subjects with higher mental ages, although children with higher IQs responded better than those with IQs less than 45. The active drugs had contrasting effects on heart rate and blood pressure. Fenfluramine caused significant weight reductions relative to both placebo and methylphenidate. These findings suggest that both methylphenidate and fenfluramine have useful, but somewhat different, clinical effects in certain children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and mental retardation.  相似文献

We investigated the effect of a combined carbohydrate and energy deficit in the regulation of food intake during 1 d. Seven lean, male subjects were studied in a crossover design. After 7 d of consuming a baseline diet (40% of energy as fat, 45% as carbohydrate, and 15% as protein), subjects were deprived of carbohydrate for 24 h; baseline amounts of fat and protein were consumed but only one-third of the baseline amount of carbohydrate. On the following outcome day, subjects were free to select ad libitum from a selection of either high-carbohydrate or low-carbohydrate food. On the baseline diet subjects consumed on average 10.9 +/- 1.7 MJ/d (carbohydrate: 305 +/- 49 g/d; fat: 116 +/- 18 g/d) and there was no difference in baseline intake between the two phases of the crossover study. During the deficit day, intake was reduced to 7.7 +/- 1.2 MJ/d [carbohydrate: 110 +/- 25 g/d (66% reduction); fat: 116 +/- 18 g/d]. On the outcome day, energy intake from high-carbohydrate foods was on average 10.5 MJ/d (carbohydrate: 430 +/- 112 g/d; fat: 48 +/- 20 g/d) compared with 16.6 MJ/d from high-fat foods (carbohydrate: 312 +/- 84 g/d; fat: 258 +/- 78 g/d). We conclude that the restoration of an energy deficit is not the main factor determining acute food intake. Rather, the data support the hypothesis that, under the conditions of our experiment, the intake of carbohydrate required to maintain carbohydrate balance was a more important factor in the regulation of acute food intake than was the restoration of energy deficit is not.  相似文献

Fifteen bulimic women (BN) and 19 healthy female controls (CO) were studied. The subjects were cross-over treated with either fluoxetine (FXT) or placebo during 4 days. They received, in randomized order, a breakfast containing pure carbohydrate (CHO) or a protein-rich (PROT) breakfast following day 3 and 4 of each treatment period. Twenty-nine different food items were offered for lunch. The fasting serum glucose and insulin concentrations and the fasting plasma tryptophan (Trp)/large neutral amino acid (LNAA) ratio were slightly higher in BN. The changes of these metabolic parameters in response to a CHO or PROT breakfast were similar in both groups. Across breakfast type, the plasma (Trp)/(LNAA) ratio at 120 min after breakfast was higher in BN. Total caloric intake at lunchtime was less in BN. In CO, less carbohydrate was selected at lunchtime following the CHO breakfast, an effect that was abolished by FXT. Breakfast type or FXT did not have any apparent effect on food intake at lunchtime in BN. This might indicate that bulimic subjects are less sensitive to serotoninergic stimuli than control subjects.  相似文献

Twelve nondepressed healthy female obese subjects (BMI > 30 kg/m2) took part in a study which conformed to a double-blind randomized crossover design. Each subject acted as her own control across 2 weeks of treatment with either 60 mg of the 5-HT reuptake inhibitor fluoxetine or matching placebo. On days 7 and 14 of both treatment phases subjects were provided with fixed energy lunch meals high in either CHO or fat. The effect of these meals on satiety during the fluoxetine and placebo phases was assessed by a battery of procedures. Subjects felt less hungry after consuming the high CHO meal than after consuming the high-fat meal. They also felt less hungry when taking fluoxetine than when taking the placebo. Analysis of energy intake from the test meal revealed a main effect of prior lunch meal type (high CHO or high fat) and a main effect of drug treatment. Subjects consumed an average of 574 kcal following the high CHO meal compared to 689 kcal following the high-fat meal. Subjects also consumed an average of 532 kcal when taking fluoxetine compared to 730 kcal when taking the placebo. Fluoxetine did not exert any significant effects on macronutrient selection. Mean daily energy intake, calculated from food diary records, was 1881 kcal when subjects were taking the placebo compared to 1460 kcal when taking fluoxetine (a reduction of 22.4%). Fluoxetine treatment produced a significant weight loss of 1.97 kg over the two weeks of treatment compared to a weight loss of only 0.04 kg on placebo.  相似文献

The effects of four equienergetic breakfasts with varying fiber and macronutrient contents on hunger and satiety ratings, on subsequent lunch intake, and on postprandial carbohydrate and fat metabolism were investigated in normal weight male subjects in two experiments, in which lunch was offered at a predetermined time (Experiment 1) or in which the subjects were free to choose when to eat lunch (Experiment 2). Consumption of either a commercially available high fiber cereal (HFC, 10% fiber), a medium fiber cereal (MFC, 7% fiber), a low fiber cereal (LFC, 3% fiber), or a standard continental breakfast (0% fiber) on nonconsecutive days did not differentially affect hunger and satiety ratings, the size or microstructure of the subsequent lunch, and the breakfast to lunch intermeal interval (in Experiment 2). Plasma concentrations of glucose, lactate, and insulin increased more after the LFC breakfast than after the other breakfast varieties. A reactive postprandial hypoglycaemia occurred after the LFC breakfast, shortly before lunch. The plasma concentrations of fat metabolites (triglycerides, free fatty acids, beta-hydroxybutyrate) and of glucagon were not differentially affected by the breakfast varieties. The results are consistent with the assumption that energy content of a meal is the major determinant of subsequent energy intake in man and the fiber content and macronutrient composition have only a modulating effect.  相似文献

This study investigated the usage consumption pattern and chemical composition of fermented foods consumed in 191 rural households (1030 individuals) in Emene. The result showed that fermented foods were widely used and consumed by most age groups (under 2 years to adults) because of poor socioeconomic status. Fermentation period varied with type of food and was mostly carried out as a means of detoxifying certain foods. Generally, fermented foods contributed substantially to the daily caloric (46.3 to 79.9% for males and 57.5 to 78% for females); calcium (33.8 to 63.5% for males and 48.3 to 55.4% for females); iron (34.4 to 58.6% for males and 47.4 to 74.6% for females); and thiamin (23 to 58.5% for males and 37.5 to 60% for females) intakes. The contributions of fermented foods to protein (10 to 40.7%) and ascorbic acid (1.9 to 18.7%) intakes were however, low. When compared with the FAO recommendations, the daily intakes of protein, calcium, riboflavin, niacin and ascorbic acid by the subjects were low due to large consumption of starchy root crops. Poor financial status was the most limiting factor to adequate nutrient intake. Such results point out the need for nutrition education related to improved methods of preparation and food selection.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of carbohydrate substrate availability on ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) during prolonged submaximal running. Thirty marathon runners were recruited as subjects. A double-blind study design was used in which subjects performed an experimental trial that consisted of a 2.5-hr treadmill run at 75-80% VO2max. During the experimental trial, the subjects in the carbohydrate feeding group ingested a 6% glucose and fructose solution at a rate of approximately 60 g.hr, whereas subjects in the placebo group consumed an equal volume of artificially flavored placebo. Statistical analysis of RPE, respiratory exchange ratio, fat and carbohydrate oxidation rate, and blood glucose concentrations indicated that increased carbohydrate substrate availability attenuated the intensity of exertional perceptions during the later stages of prolonged running at 75-80% VO2max in marathon runners.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of a carbohydrate-electrolyte solution, ingested during exercise, with the effects of a preexercise carbohydrate meal on endurance running performance. Ten endurance-trained males completed two 30-km treadmill runs. In one trial subjects consumed a placebo solution 4 hr before exercise and a carbohydrate-electrolyte solution immediately before exercise and every 5 km (C). In the other trial, subjects consumed a 4-hr preexercise high-carbohydrate meal and water immediately before exercise and every 5 km (M). Performance times were identical for M and C, and there was no difference in the self-selected speeds. Oxygen uptake, heart rates, perceived rate of exertion, and respiratory exchange ratios were also similar. However, blood glucose concentration was higher in C during the first 20 km of the 30-km run. In M, blood glucose concentration was maintained above 4.5 mmol.L-1 throughout exercise. Thus, the two conditions produced the same 30-km treadmill running performance time.  相似文献

Fenfluramine, a clinically prescribed appetite suppressant, has been found to damage brain serotonin (5-HT) neurons in every animal species tested to date. Recent findings indicate that fluoxetine, a selective 5-HT reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), can prevent fenfluramine-induced 5-HT neurotoxicity without blocking fenfluramine-induced appetite suppression. The purpose of our studies was several-fold: 1) To determine whether the ability for fluoxetine to dissociate fenfluramine-induced anorexia and neurotoxicity is dose-related; 2) to ascertain whether other SSRIs also prevent fenfluramine-induced neurotoxicity without altering its anorectic effect; 3) to determine whether similar fluoxetine/fenfluramine interactions are seen in another animal species (i.e., mice) and 4) to determine whether decreases in food intake seen after the fluoxetine/fenfluramine combination can be attributed to nonspecific behavioral suppression. Results from our studies indicate that fluoxetine's effects are, indeed, dose-related, because higher doses of fluoxetine are required to protect against the 5-HT neurotoxic effects of higher doses of fenfluramine. Further, our results indicate that fluoxetine's effects generalize to all other SSRIs tested (citalopram, paroxetine and sertraline), as well as to other species (mice). Finally, our results demonstrate that anorexia in animals receiving the fenfluramine/fluoxetine combination is not secondary to nonspecific behavioral suppression, because water intake is increased although food intake is decreased in the same animals. Together, these data suggest that the anorectic and 5-HT neurotoxic effects of fenfluramine may involve different mechanisms, and that by combining fenfluramine with SSRIs, it may be possible to exploit fenfluramine's clinically useful properties (e.g., anorexia) without risking brain 5-HT neural injury.  相似文献

Food consumption was measured in six female and seven male hand-raised marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus) nestlings. Females consumed on average 4,321 g and males consumed 3,571 g of food during the nestling stage from 0 to 36 d. Total consumption until 56 d was 6,960 g and 5,822 g for females and males, respectively. On the basis of Fisher's sex ratio theory, this food intake ratio of 0.46 (intake male/[intake male + female]) would explain the observed male-biased fledging sex ratio of 55% males in marsh harrier broods. Growth, gross energy intake, and metabolizable energy intake were measured, along with metabolism of the nestlings, enabling us to determine energy allocation. The assimilation quotient (Q = 0.72) did not differ systematically between the sexes. Differences in metabolic rates between males and females at 15 and 30 d of age were fully attributable to the difference in body mass. Sexual size dimorphism in marsh harriers (female body mass around 60 d of age is 1.28 times greater than male mass) did not fully explain the difference in food intake between male and female nestlings: an analysis of energy requirements for growth and body mass in 16 avian species shows that energy intake was less than proportional to the average body mass at release. The data presented in this study are in agreement with Fisher's theory of inverse proportionality between the sex-specific ratios of energy requirements for growth and of offspring numbers in the marsh harrier population.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Epidemiologic studies have shown alcohol consumption to be inversely as well as positively related to body weight and body fat. Metabolic studies have shown an increase in energy intake as well as compensation after alcohol consumption. OBJECTIVE: Our objective was to assess the effects on energy intake of an apéritif compared with those of a water appetizer and 3 fruit juice appetizers. DESIGN: Fifty-two men and women aged 20-45 y with a body mass index (in kg/m2) between 20 and 32 were randomly given 1 MJ (340 mL) alcohol (wine or beer), fat (cream fruit juice), protein (protein fruit juice), carbohydrate (grape juice), or water, or no preload 30 min before an ad libitum lunch consumed from the universal eating monitor. RESULTS: Energy intake (3.5+/-0.3 MJ compared with 2.7+/-0.2 MJ, P < 0.001) and eating rate were higher (44+/-3 g/min compared with 38+/-3 g/min, P < 0.01), meal duration was longer (14 min compared with 12.0 min, P < 0.01), satiation started to increase later (3.5 min compared with 1.5 min, P < 0.01), and eating was prolonged after maximum satiation (2.5 min compared with 0.6 min, P < 0.01) after an apéritif than after a fat, protein, or carbohydrate appetizer,. Twenty-four-hour energy intake was higher on a day that an apéritif was consumed than after water or no preload. CONCLUSION: Twenty-four-hour energy intake was elevated with a 1-MJ apéritif but not with a 1-MJ liquid carbohydrate, fat, or protein appetizer.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To test whether isoenergetic isoenergetically-dense doses of dietary 1-monoglyceride or triglyceride differentially influence appetite and meal-to-meal energy intake in man. DESIGN: Six men and six women were each studied twice in a 2 d protocol. On day 1 (maintenance day) they were fed a medium fat (MF) maintenance diet (MF: 40% fat, 47% carbohydrate and 13% protein by energy) calculated at 1.6 x resting metabolic rate (RMR). On day 2 (manipulation day) at 08.30 h subjects consumed a high-fat breakfast designed to contain 80-85% of RMR, composition 10% protein, 56% fat and 34% carbohydrate by energy, with 65% of energy for fat derived as either 1-monoglyceride or triglyceride. Food and energy intake were monitored at lunch (given at 12.30pm) and throughout the remainder of the day. During this time subjects had ad libitum access to isoenergetic, isoenergetically dense MF (40:47:13) foods (550kJ/100g), until 22.30pm). Subjective hunger and satiety were tracked hourly, during waking hours. RESULTS: There was no significant effect of fat type on food or energy intake at lunch or during the ad libitum period. There was no diet effect on subjective hunger (F(1,10)0.00; P= 0.975) in the inter-meal periods of morning or afternoon, nor during the whole day. Subjects found both diets to be similarly pleasant (F(1,61)0.84;P= 0.364). Men and women responded similarly, except that men ate more on all occasions than women. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that when a large dose of l-monoglyceride or triglyceride is incorporated into a breakfast meal, it behaves in a manner that is very similar to triglyceride in terms of the effects on hunger, appetite or feeding behaviour.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: We investigated prolactin and cortisol response to fenfluramine in non-psychiatric patients with chronic functional gastrointestinal disorder (FGD). METHODS: Sixty milligrams fenfluramine was given orally to 55 subjects without any DSM-III axis-1 psychopathology and 29 healthy control subjects matched for sex and age. Serum cortisol and prolactin levels were analysed at base line and after 120, 180, and 240 min. RESULTS: Fenfluramine challenge induced an increase in mean prolactin and cortisol serum values in both patients and controls. Female patients showed lower base-line values of prolactin and higher delta values of cortisol than controls. Male patients and controls showed very uniform values for all variables. Length of illness history influenced delta cortisol values in both sexes. CONCLUSIONS: The cortisol and prolactin responses to fenfluramine suggest a psychobiologic gender difference with a possible stress-induced central serotonergic dysfunction in female patients but not in male patients. The close relationship between length of illness and delta cortisol may also suggest an increased state of distress in females with chronic functional gastrointestinal disorder.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine the effects of two levels of energy intakes and two levels of fat at breakfast, on the food and energy intakes in subsequent meal (lunch). The study was performed in 51 children both genders, with ages ranging from 24 to 48 months, attending a day care center. The children selected had normal nutritional status (weight/height index) according to the NCHS standards. The food intake was determined by differential weighing and energy intake was calculated from proximal analysis. The energy densities of the cow's milk formula used were 0.8 and 1.2 kcal/g, resulting in a total energy offer (breakfast) of 267.5 and 367.5 kcal respectively, the fat levels were 6.3 and 0.9 g/250 g of formula, using the design 2 x 2 factorial. In the study, 720 observations of food intake were conducted in those children consuming higher than 75% of the total food offered at breakfast. In the lunch-time were offered in alternated form two preparations with an 0.97 kcal/g of energy density. The results demonstrated that the children consumed significantly higher energy amounts in the subsequent meal, after being fed the high fat and lower energy-content breakfast. When the total energy intake (breakfast + lunch) was compared these results show that the caloric difference of breakfast was reduced and the degree of reduction was influenced by the fat level. These results show evidence for partial caloric compensation of 67% in the higher-fat level, and only 34% for the children with the lower of fat-level. It is conclude that the energy intake and fat intake at breakfast influences the energy intake at the subsequent meal. These findings are important to the preschool children's feeding with risk of malnutrition.  相似文献

The acceptance and sensory characteristics of standard and reduced-fat cookies were evaluated either with or without fat-content information by pre-adolescent children. Results indicate that acceptance ratings were not affected by the fat content or information about fat content when evaluated on nine-point scales. However, when asked to choose which cookie they liked better and to predict how many cookies they would eat (in forced-choice questions), fat content and information about fat content had a significant effect on cookie preference and prospective intake. When no information was available, subjects preferred the cookie with the higher fat content; when information was presented, subjects' preference shifted to the reduced-fat cookie. When asked which cookie they would choose to eat for dessert with hypothetical lunches, a similar shift in choice was observed following a low-fat lunch. The low-fat label was also associated with an increase in perceived healthiness relative to the high-fat label, as indicated on "good for me" scales. The effects of fat content information on cookie preference and prospective consumption were seen in pre-adolescents who indicated a "high concern" for the health consequences of dietary fat. Cookie preference and prospective intake of subjects who indicated a "low concern" were not affected by fat content labeling. Results suggest that fat content and information about fat content may affect food preference and intake in pre-adolescent children.  相似文献

A plasma insulin and amino acid-mediated mechanism is thought to modulate brain serotonin concentration, thereby regulating carbohydrate consumption on a meal to meal basis. It has been suggested that obesity is associated with a defect in the appetite control system. Furthermore, post-absorptive plasma levels of several amino acids are increased in obese subjects, which is ascribed to obesity-associated insulin resistance and/or hyperinsulinemia. We studied breakfast-induced changes in plasma ratios of tryptophan to other large neutral amino acids and associated differences in macro-nutrient composition of lunch food in normal weight and obese human subjects. The study was randomized, double blind and cross-over with a 2 x 2 factorial design with drug/placebo and type of breakfast as factors. Nineteen healthy, non-obese (body mass index (BMI) 22.5 +/- 1.9 kg/m2, mean +/- s.d.) and 19 obese (BMI 34.7 +/- 6.2 kg/m2) female volunteers were treated with either 60 mg fluoxetine (FXT), a serotonin re-uptake blocker specifically acting in the brain, or placebo for four days with a wash-out period between treatments of four weeks. The subjects received either a carbohydrate (CHO) breakfast (80 g maltodextrin, 300 kcal) or a protein-rich (PROT) breakfast (60% milk protein and 40% CHO, 300 kcal) on two consecutive days (days 4 and 5 of each treatment period). Plasma glucose, insulin and amino acids were measured at several time points after breakfast. Three hours after breakfast, subjects were able to choose from 29 different food items. Total energy content and weight of lunch food and energy percentage of each macronutrient were calculated.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Seventeen diabetic patients (5 males and 12 females) treated with long-term metformin therapy received their morning dose after an overnight fast or after one of four types of breakfast: low protein, low fat, low carbohydrate or standard. Mean (+/- SD) and median areas under the serum concentration curves (AUC), maximum concentrations (Cmax) and time to reach the maximum concentrations (tmax) were calculated for the major biological parameters (glycemia, C-peptide, insulin and glucagon levels). None of the diets were bioequivalent to the fasting condition and only the low carbohydrate diet gave comparable results. A strong relationship was found between the carbohydrate intake (in g) and the AUC of the various markers except glucagon.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: Obesity is an important clinical problem, and the use of dexfenfluramine hydrochloride for weight reduction has been widely publicized since its approval by the Food and Drug Administration. However, animal and human studies have demonstrated toxic effects of fenfluramines that clinicians should be aware of when considering prescribing the drugs. Our purpose was to systematically review data on brain serotonin neurotoxicity in animals treated with fenfluramines and the evidence linking fenfluramines to primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH). DATA SOURCES: Archival articles and reviews identified through a computerized search of MEDLINE from 1966 to April 1997 using "fenfluramine(s)," "serotonin," "neurotoxicity," "behavior," "anorexigens," "weight loss," and "primary pulmonary hypertension" as index terms. STUDY SELECTION: Reports dealing with long-term effects of fenfluramines on brain serotonin neurons, body weight, and pulmonary function in animals and humans. DATA EXTRACTION: Reports were reviewed by individuals with expertise in serotonin neurobiology, neurotoxicity, neuropsychiatry, and pulmonary medicine and evaluated for appropriateness for inclusion in this review. DATA SYNTHESIS: Fenfluramines cause dose-related, long-lasting reductions in serotonin axonal markers in all the animal species tested and with all the routes of drug administration used. Doses of fenfluramines that produce signs of brain serotonin neurotoxicity in animals are on the same order as those used to treat humans for weight loss when one takes into account known relations between body mass and drug clearance. However, no human studies have been conducted, and the pathological and clinical potential for neurotoxicity in humans is unknown. Appetite suppressants-most commonly fenfluramines-increase the risk of developing PPH (odds ratio, 6.3), particularly when used for more than 3 months (odds ratio, >20). CONCLUSIONS: Fenfluramine and dexfenfluramine have been demonstrated to damage brain serotonin neurons in animal studies. It is not known if such damage occurs in humans or if there are clinical consequences. Use of fenfluramines is associated with an increased risk of PPH. Future studies should address the long-term consequences of prolonged use of fenfluramines.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To compare the effects of aspartame-sweetened and sucrose-sweetened soft drinks on food intake and appetite ratings of female restrained eaters. SUBJECTS: Fourteen female students, shown to have eating restraint. METHODS: Subjects were given four drinks (330 ml) of aspartame-sweetened lemonade, sucrose-sweetened lemonade and carbonated mineral water on three separate days. Seven of the subjects were informed of the drink type they were consuming on each occasion. MEASUREMENTS: Appetite ratings were recorded and energy and macronutrient intakes were measured during the study day and day after leaving the department. RESULTS: During the first study day energy intake was lower whilst drinking the sucrose-sweetened lemonade compared with the aspartame-sweetened lemonade, although neither differed significantly from energy intakes during the day the drank water. When the calories from the sucrose-sweetened lemonade were included (1381 kJ, 330 Kcal) energy intake did not differ between treatments. The following day energy intake was significantly higher after the aspartame-sweetened lemonade compared with both sucrose-sweetened lemonade and the water due to an increase in the amount of carbohydrate consumed and resulted in a higher total energy intake over the two days studied. Knowledge of the drink types had no effect on energy intake or macronutrient intake. Appetite ratings did not differ between drinks and were not affected by knowledge of the drink types. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that in females with eating restraint, substituting sucrose-sweetened drinks for diet drinks does not reduce total energy intake and may even result in a higher intake during the subsequent day.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: Metabolic and ergogenic effects of carbohydrate and caffeine concentrations, common in commercial available beverages, were investigated in 16 tournament players (8 males and 8 females) during a 4 hrs interrupted tennis match (30 min rest after 150 min). METHODS: On three double-blind occasions players ingested a placebo (PLA), carbohydrate (CHO) or caffeine drink (CAF) at court changeover and during the resting period. In men (women) total intake consisted of 2.8 l (2.0 l) fluid, supplemented with 243 g (182 g) carbohydrates (CHO) or with 364 mg (260 mg) caffeine (CAF), respectively. Postexercise all players performed a ball-machine test (BMT) and a tennis-sprint test (TST). RESULTS: During match play blood glucose (GLU) was higher in CHO and did not differ between CAF and PLA. Immediately after the resting period GLU temporary declined in CHO and PLA, while no significant changes occurred in CAF. Increases of serum FFA and glycerol as well as the decrease of insulin were similar during the PLA and CAF trials and less pronounced in CHO. Postexercise urine concentrations of epinephrine and caffeine were significantly higher in CAF. Perception ratings and hitting accuracy (BMT) were not affected by treatment. CHO resulted in higher blood lactate levels during match play and a better post-exercise sprint performance (TST). Under CAF women won significantly more games than during both other treatments. CONCLUSIONS: CHO enhances tennis-specific running-speed but has no ergogenic effect on tennis performance under the conditions of our study. CAF improves glucose homeostasis at the beginning of work load after rest and may increase tennis success in women.  相似文献
