A new technique to generate a millimeter(mm)-wave carrier of 32.57 GHz(fLO=10.85 GHz) with single sideband modulation(SSB) for radio-over-fiber(RoF) systems is experimentally demonstrated by using stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS).The SSB is realized by directly amplifying the +3rd sideband of the modulated optical carrier in the process of SBS.The pump wave is provided through a double Brillouin scattering frequency shifting configuration.The use of the same laser source to generate the pump wave ensures the stability of the mm-wave generation system since the relative frequency shift between them can be eliminated.In addition, the mm-wave carrier obtains an RF power gain of 21 dB with the SBS amplification and a 3-dB bandwidth of 10kHz.  相似文献

Several polar molecules possessing strong far-infrared (FIR) transitions have been optically pumped by a mode-locked CO2TEA laser in a single-pass configuration. All the resulting FIR pulses are shorter than the sub-T2pump pulses; subnanosecond FIR pulses are observed. These short FIR pulses exhibit lethargic gain, stimulated Raman emission, and multiple-pulse superradiance. The experimental results are modeled by numerical solution of the Maxwell-density matrix equations for two fields interacting with a three-level system. Level degeneracy is included, and the pump is described by a multimode power spectrum with a parabolic envelope, resulting in a periodic train of pulses. Variation of the detuning of the pump from resonance allows simulation of the superradiant or Raman cases. This fully coherent model, which is the major contribution of this paper, explains key experimental observations such as the noncoincidence of the Raman peak with the pump modulation minimum and the enhancement of multiple-pulse superradiance due to remanent polarization.  相似文献

提出了一种基于相位调制器(PM)和可调谐光滤波器产生线性调频激光信号的方法。该方法利用带有基频的微波线性调频信号作为相位调制器的驱动信号,窄线宽的激光种子源经相位调制器调制后产生一系列的宽带线性调频激光信号。通过可调谐光滤波器抑制其他边带保留所需阶次的线性调频激光信号。实验结果表明:当光滤波器保留正二阶调频激光信号时,获得了调频带宽为2 GHz、调频速率为6 THz/s的线性调频激光信号。在观测时间为1 ms时,测得的线性调频激光信号的瞬时线宽为3.2 kHz。该方法结构简单,易于实现,并且对调频连续波激光雷达、相干光谱分析等测量应用有重要意义。  相似文献

A simple distributed fiber sensor is proposed by Brillouin amplification and depletion of microwave photonic signals. This technique utilizes optical carrier suppression (OCS) modulation to generate two sidebands acting as the pump waves. After Fresnel reflection at the cleaved end of the fiber under test (FUT), the pump waves are converted to probe waves. By sweeping the modulated microwave frequency, the stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) spectra and Brillouin frequency shift (BFS) can be precisely characterized. As a result, the accurate measurement of the Brillouin frequency shift makes good determination of the distributed temperature or stain along the FUT, and the position along the FUT can be resolved and controlled by the delay of the microwave pulses. Furthermore, our proposed sensing system is implemented with a single-ended configuration which has shown many advantages such as immunity of the laser frequency fluctuation and compact setup without additional pump laser source and filters.  相似文献

本文提出了一种基于受激布里渊散射原理的单边带调制产生30GHz毫米波的新方法,可应用于光载射频系统。该方法利用一个双布里渊散射移频结构生成泵浦光,并将其反向注入到传输信号光的25 km单模光纤;通过受激布里渊散射,直接放大受调制信号光的正三阶边带,实现光载波的单边带调制,有效改善由色散效应引入的功率涨落问题,保证了毫米波功率稳定。此外,信号光和泵浦光由同一个激光器产生,有效消除两者间的相对频率漂移,从而大大提升了毫米波生成系统的频率稳定性。通过我们的方法,实验系统所生成的毫米波功率增益了21dB,其3dB线宽为10kHz。  相似文献

Three-dimensional bitwise optical recording with a density of 500 Gb/cm3 in fused silica using a Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser modulated by binary digits is demonstrated. Laser pulses modulation is realized by modulating two circuits of trigger pulses signal which are used to control laser pulses trapping and switching out from cavity, respectively. Bits are optically readout in both a parallel reading (phase-contrast) and a serial reading (confocal-type) methods. The method for modulating laser pulses can also be used in all of pulsed laser systems which operate in cavity-dumping configuration.  相似文献

阐述了波长扫描锁模掺Er光纤激光器的工作机制,并进行了实验研究.用波长980nm的激光二极管作为泵浦源,在可调谐滤波器100 Hz的扫描频率下,得到了重复频率25 MHz,波长扫描范围1 527~1 534 nm的稳定脉冲序列.激光器以锁模运转的阈值泵浦功率为8.7 mW.当入纤泵浦功率为57.6 mW时,得到了平均功率为0.68 mW的脉冲输出.  相似文献

We report on the experimental demonstration of optical single sideband (SSB) modulation using a directly modulated semiconductor laser under strong optical injection-locking. Modulation sidebands with 15-dB power ratio between the lower and upper sidebands have been achieved. The longer wavelength sideband is resonantly amplified by the injection-locked laser cavity mode. The radio-frequency performance of the optical SSB after 80-km fiber transmission is significantly improved compared with a typical symmetric sideband modulation of a free-running laser. A 622-Mb/s data transmission on a 20-GHz subcarrier is demonstrated over an 80-km fiber link.  相似文献

All-optical switching has been theoretically analyzed in the 3,3'-diethyl-2,2'-thiatricarboeyanine iodide (DTTCI) carbocyanine dye that exhibits large excited-state absorption to achieve high contrast and fast switching. Switching has been analyzed both ns and ps pump pulse widths. It is shown that there is an optimum value of concentration for given peak pump intensity at which maximum modulation can be achieved. We can get 93.84% modulation of transmission of a CW probe laser beam at 532 nm at peak pumping intensity of 500 kW/cm^2 at 763 nm, with At =1 ns and concentration of 80 μM in alcohol, resulting in switch-off and on time of 2 ns and 8 ns, respectively. The results have been also used to design all-optical NOT and the universal NOR and NAND logic gates with multiple pump laser pulses.  相似文献

Generation of high-repetition-rate modulation instability pulse trains and high- energy soliton-Raman pulses of ≃60 fs durations, in a single-mode P2O5-doped silica fiber, is reported. The 7 mol.% concentration P2O5 fiber was pumped in a single pass arrangement by a Q-switched and mode-locked Nd:YAG laser operated at 1.319 μm. Operating in the region of zero second-order dispersion, modulation instability Stokes sideband seeded resonantly cascade stimulated Raman scattering associated with Si-O-Si and P=0 vibration modes of the fiber. As a result, broad bandwidth and widely tunable 1.36-1.80 μm femtosecond pulses were obtained  相似文献

A novel technique of pulse amplitude equalisation in higher-order optical pulses in a rational harmonically modelocked fibre ring laser is proposed and demonstrated. The combination of intracavity optical filtering, and even-order modulation sideband generation using nonlinear characteristics of a Mach-Zehnder intensity modulator can effectively eliminate pulse amplitude instability at higher-order rational harmonic modelocking. The generated optical pulse trains exhibit equal amplitudes with a high degree of spectral purity in terms of a large suppression of supermode noise, low amplitude noise, phase noise, and timing jitter  相似文献

We first demonstrate a wideband generation of picosecond pulse using fiber optical parametric amplifier (FOPA). High quality pulse is generated at 85 nm away from the pump with pulsewidth narrower than that of the pump. We then explore fiber optical parametric oscillator (FOPO) configuration which has the advantage of eliminating the need of seeding laser, leading to a potentially wider wavelength tunability and flexibility. The tuning range of the FOPO is from 1511 nm to 1541 nm and from 1583$~$nm to 1613 nm, which is as wide as 60 nm, with wavelength span of over 100 nm. Nearly-transform-limited sub-picosecond pulses are generated by this technique.   相似文献

A dual-band bandpass microwave photonic filter(MPF) based on stimulated Brillouin scattering(SBS) is theoretically analyzed and experimentally demonstrated. Two separated tunable laser sources(TLSs) are employed to generate two passbands by implementing phase modulation to amplitude modulation conversion by using SBS induced sideband amplification. The center frequencies of both passbands can be independently tuned ranging from 1 GHz to 19 GHz. High resolution with 3 d B bandwidth less than 30 MHz and large out-of-band rejection about 40 d B under 25 m W optical pump power are achieved.  相似文献

报道了基于反共振空芯光纤的氘气单程和级联受激拉曼散射实验研究,详细分析了反共振空芯光纤中氘气受激拉曼散射的过程,研究了输出光谱和拉曼谱线功率随氘气压强和泵浦激光功率的变化规律,指出降低气压、采用峰值功率相对较低的泵浦脉冲可以有效抑制转动受激拉曼散射,提高振动受激拉曼散射效率。此外,通过进一步设计、拉制传输带位置合适、带宽较窄的反共振空芯光纤,利用1064 nm脉冲激光泵浦,可以实现高效的氘气一阶振动斯托克斯光(1561 nm)和二阶级联振动斯托克斯光(2925 nm)输出。  相似文献

In this paper, we report an experimental observation of different states of multi-pulse operation in an actively Q-switched Er-doped fiber laser, which has applications in pulse coding in optical communications. The Q factor is switched by an electro-optic modulator. Completely separated multiple pulses are obtained due to the short response time of the modulator. The influence of pump power and modulation frequency on output pulse state is investigated. In the experiment, the repetition rate of Q-switched pulse is not always consistent with the modulation signal. Single-pulse, single-dual-pulse, dual-pulse, dual-triple pulse, and multiple pulses are observed in one modulation period by increasing pump power. Single-pulse is also observed in two or three modulation periods by increasing the frequency of modulation signal. In addition, the waveform of modulating signal and the polarization state of modulated signal also affect the multi-pulse operation accordingly.  相似文献

为研究双折射光纤的高功率环形腔光纤激光系统输出稳定性,提出了一种可能存在的矢量调制不稳定现象——边带偏振不稳定性(SPI)。结合偏振不稳定性与边带不稳定性的研究方法,建立了偏振光在线性双折射掺杂光纤的环形腔中传输时满足的非线性薛定谔方程,并求得了高双折射光纤中信号光偏振方向与主轴重合时扰动边带的解析解。研究结果表明,在正常色散情况下,沿主轴偏振的信号光在环形激光器中传输时,各阶扰动边带所获得的峰值增益随着信号光功率的变化而呈锯齿状分布,并随功率的增加而趋于一稳定值。  相似文献
