会议电视系统是一种新的多媒体通信业务系统,多媒体信息是指集视觉、听觉和各种用户数据(多媒体数据)于一体的信息系统。提出了一种专用地面会议电视网络的实现方案,从工程实现的角度介绍了地面会议电视系统的组成,会议电视系统的主要功能以及本系统采用的一种特殊帧结构技术。该系统已成功应用于某部门的会议电视系统工程,并有广泛的推广应用前景。  相似文献

Media Impact usually focuses on the practical impact of multimedia research on IT business. Yet given the pervasiveness of multimedia technology in our everyday life, a thorough reflection on the impact of multimedia progress on education and, in particular, multimedia education is overdue. Multimedia teachers at the 2007 ACM Multimedia conference engaged in a panel discussion on the current state and future of multimedia education. In this issue's,Wolfgang Hürst of Utrecht University and his colleagues Gerald Friedland of the International Computer Science Institute, Berkeley, and Lars Knipping of Berlin University of Technology use this panel as an opportunity to argue the need for a dedicated multimedia curriculum in computer science education.  相似文献

Technical issues involved in integrating computer and communication technologies in the broadband integrated services digital network (B-ISDN) environment are discussed. The Multimedia Environment for Remote Multiple-Attendee Interactive Decision-making (MERMAID), an ISDN-based multimedia and multiparty desktop conference system, is described. MERMAID involves B-ISDN key technologies related to multimedia and multicast protocols, and workstation architecture for groupware applications. However, much multimedia content is unattractive, and many applications have poor user interfaces because many developers don't have training in both programming and content creation. To counteract this, we teach students QuickTime for Java, which provides a rich library for manipulating media. The paper presents a brief overview of project R2025 MIMIS (Multipoint Interactive Multimedia Interpersonal System) of the European Community's RACE II programme. The project is dedicated to the development of a desktop broadband multimedia conference system. The system will be designed according to the business communication requirements of its potential users and user groups. The last few years have witnessed a significant development in the means to produce and make available multimedia content, namely owing to the democratisation of access to digital picture and video cameras in addition to the generalisation of Internet usage. Fourth-generation wireless systems are composed of coexisting and cooperating legacy and new networks. Mobile ad hoc networks are examples of new networks. They have several attractive characteristics and are gaining more and more momentum. Their integration with legacy third-generation networks is now being contemplated. Multimedia conferencing is the basis of a wealth of applications, including video conferences, multiparty games, and distance learning. Signaling is the central nerve of multimedia conferencing. It establishes, modifies, and tears down multimedia conferencing applications. This article is devoted to the signaling aspects of multimedia conferencing in 4G and focuses on the specific case of integrated 3G/MANETs. It reviews the standard 3G architecture and the emerging architectures for MANETs. This review shows that none of them is suitable for integrated 3G/MANETs. We propose a new architecture based on application-level clusters and conference gateways. We have implemented a prototype using the session initiation protocol (SIP) technology.  相似文献

The emergence of broadband wireless technologies has made broadband wireless ad hoc networks a reality. Broadband wireless ad hoc networks are infrastructure-less and can be used in a wide range of scenarios in private, public, commercial, and military settings. Multimedia conferencing is an important application area. Its two main components are signaling and media handling. This article focuses on the media handling aspects or multimedia conferencing in broadband wireless ad hoc networks, with a critical review of the state of the art and a proposed novel architecture. The main components of this architecture are a distributed mixing system and a self-organizing system. The distributed mixing system is a two-level structure. The first level is a full mesh network of active nodes that act as media mixers. The second level is made up of passive nodes that rely on the mixers in the first level. Each second-level node is connected to a first-level node. The self-organizing system is based on a resource efficient scheme that provides for the automatic allocation (or deallocation) of mixers when the network grows (or shrinks). Furthermore, it enables the automatic assignment of new nodes to mixers when they join the conference. We have built a proof-of-concept prototype of the architecture and have evaluated the self-organizing system through simulations. We have simulated conferences and observed how mixers are allocated and deallocated. The simulations show that our self-organizing system utilizes resources efficiently in most cases.  相似文献
