Abnormal growth of brain tissues is the real cause of brain tumor. Strategy for the diagnosis of brain tumor at initial stages is one of the key step for saving the life of a patient. The manual segmentation of brain tumor magnetic resonance images (MRIs) takes time and results vary significantly in low-level features. To address this issue, we have proposed a ResNet-50 feature extractor depended on multilevel deep convolutional neural network (CNN) for reliable images segmentation by considering the low-level features of MRI. In this model, we have extracted features through ResNet-50 architecture and fed these feature maps to multi-level CNN model. To handle the classification process, we have collected a total number of 2043 MRI patients of normal, benign, and malignant tumor. Three model CNN, multi-level CNN, and ResNet-50 based multi-level CNN have been used for detection and classification of brain tumors. All the model results are calculated in terms of various numerical values identified as precision (P), recall (R), accuracy (Acc) and f1-score (F1-S). The obtained average results are much better as compared to already existing methods. This modified transfer learning architecture might help the radiologists and doctors as a better significant system for tumor diagnosis.  相似文献

Deep learning (DL) techniques, which do not need complex pre-processing and feature analysis, are used in many areas of medicine and achieve promising results. On the other hand, in medical studies, a limited dataset decreases the abstraction ability of the DL model. In this context, we aimed to produce synthetic brain images including three tumor types (glioma, meningioma, and pituitary), unlike traditional data augmentation methods, and classify them with DL. This study proposes a tumor classification model consisting of a Dense Convolutional Network (DenseNet121)-based DL model to prevent forgetting problems in deep networks and delay information flow between layers. By comparing models trained on two different datasets, we demonstrated the effect of synthetic images generated by Cycle Generative Adversarial Network (CycleGAN) on the generalization of DL. One model is trained only on the original dataset, while the other is trained on the combined dataset of synthetic and original images. Synthetic data generated by CycleGAN improved the best accuracy values for glioma, meningioma, and pituitary tumor classes from 0.9633, 0.9569, and 0.9904 to 0.9968, 0.9920, and 0.9952, respectively. The developed model using synthetic data obtained a higher accuracy value than the related studies in the literature. Additionally, except for pixel-level and affine transform data augmentation, synthetic data has been generated in the figshare brain dataset for the first time.  相似文献

A brain tumor is a mass or growth of abnormal cells in the brain. In children and adults, brain tumor is considered one of the leading causes of death. There are several types of brain tumors, including benign (non-cancerous) and malignant (cancerous) tumors. Diagnosing brain tumors as early as possible is essential, as this can improve the chances of successful treatment and survival. Considering this problem, we bring forth a hybrid intelligent deep learning technique that uses several pre-trained models (Resnet50, Vgg16, Vgg19, U-Net) and their integration for computer-aided detection and localization systems in brain tumors. These pre-trained and integrated deep learning models have been used on the publicly available dataset from The Cancer Genome Atlas. The dataset consists of 120 patients. The pre-trained models have been used to classify tumor or no tumor images, while integrated models are applied to segment the tumor region correctly. We have evaluated their performance in terms of loss, accuracy, intersection over union, Jaccard distance, dice coefficient, and dice coefficient loss. From pre-trained models, the U-Net model achieves higher performance than other models by obtaining 95% accuracy. In contrast, U-Net with ResNet-50 outperforms all other models from integrated pre-trained models and correctly classified and segmented the tumor region.  相似文献

Due to the difficulties of brain tumor segmentation, this paper proposes a strategy for extracting brain tumors from three-dimensional Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) scans utilizing 3D U-Net Design and ResNet50, taken after by conventional classification strategies. In this inquire, the ResNet50 picked up accuracy with 98.96%, and the 3D U-Net scored 97.99% among the different methods of deep learning. It is to be mentioned that traditional Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) gives 97.90% accuracy on top of the 3D MRI. In expansion, the image fusion approach combines the multimodal images and makes a fused image to extricate more highlights from the medical images. Other than that, we have identified the loss function by utilizing several dice measurements approach and received Dice Result on top of a specific test case. The average mean score of dice coefficient and soft dice loss for three test cases was 0.0980. At the same time, for two test cases, the sensitivity and specification were recorded to be 0.0211 and 0.5867 using patch level predictions. On the other hand, a software integration pipeline was integrated to deploy the concentrated model into the webserver for accessing it from the software system using the Representational state transfer (REST) API. Eventually, the suggested models were validated through the Area Under the Curve–Receiver Characteristic Operator (AUC–ROC) curve and Confusion Matrix and compared with the existing research articles to understand the underlying problem. Through Comparative Analysis, we have extracted meaningful insights regarding brain tumour segmentation and figured out potential gaps. Nevertheless, the proposed model can be adjustable in daily life and the healthcare domain to identify the infected regions and cancer of the brain through various imaging modalities.  相似文献

Recently, many researchers have used nature inspired metaheuristic algorithms due to their ability to perform optimally on complex problems. To solve problems in a simple way, in the recent era bat algorithm has become famous due to its high tendency towards convergence to the global optimum most of the time. But, still the standard bat with random walk has a problem of getting stuck in local minima. In order to solve this problem, this research proposed bat algorithm with levy flight random walk. Then, the proposed Bat with Levy flight algorithm is further hybridized with three different variants of ANN. The proposed BatLFBP is applied to the problem of insulin DNA sequence classification of healthy homosapien. For classification performance, the proposed models such as Bat levy flight Artificial Neural Network (BatLFANN) and Bat levy Flight Back Propagation (BatLFBP) are compared with the other state-of-the-art algorithms like Bat Artificial Neural Network (BatANN), Bat back propagation (BatBP), Bat Gaussian distribution Artificial Neural Network (BatGDANN). And Bat Gaussian distribution back propagation (BatGDBP), in-terms of means squared error (MSE) and accuracy. From the perspective of simulations results, it is show that the proposed BatLFANN achieved 99.88153% accuracy with MSE of 0.001185, and BatLFBP achieved 99.834185 accuracy with MSE of 0.001658 on WL5. While on WL10 the proposed BatLFANN achieved 99.89899% accuracy with MSE of 0.00101, and BatLFBP achieved 99.84473% accuracy with MSE of 0.004553. Similarly, on WL15 the proposed BatLFANN achieved 99.82853% accuracy with MSE of 0.001715, and BatLFBP achieved 99.3262% accuracy with MSE of 0.006738 which achieve better accuracy as compared to the other hybrid models.

Tumor detection has been an active research topic in recent years due to the high mortality rate. Computer vision (CV) and image processing techniques have recently become popular for detecting tumors in MRI images. The automated detection process is simpler and takes less time than manual processing. In addition, the difference in the expanding shape of brain tumor tissues complicates and complicates tumor detection for clinicians. We proposed a new framework for tumor detection as well as tumor classification into relevant categories in this paper. For tumor segmentation, the proposed framework employs the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm, and for classification, the convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm. Popular preprocessing techniques such as noise removal, image sharpening, and skull stripping are used at the start of the segmentation process. Then, PSO-based segmentation is applied. In the classification step, two pre-trained CNN models, alexnet and inception-V3, are used and trained using transfer learning. Using a serial approach, features are extracted from both trained models and fused features for final classification. For classification, a variety of machine learning classifiers are used. Average dice values on datasets BRATS-2018 and BRATS-2017 are 98.11 percent and 98.25 percent, respectively, whereas average jaccard values are 96.30 percent and 96.57% (Segmentation Results). The results were extended on the same datasets for classification and achieved 99.0% accuracy, sensitivity of 0.99, specificity of 0.99, and precision of 0.99. Finally, the proposed method is compared to state-of-the-art existing methods and outperforms them.  相似文献

Brain tumor is one of the most dangerous disease that causes due to uncontrollable and abnormal cell partition. In this paper, we have used MRI brain scan in comparison with CT brain scan as it is less harmful to detect brain tumor. We considered watershed segmentation technique for brain tumor detection. The proposed methodology is divided as follows: pre-processing, computing foreground applying watershed, extract and supply features to machine learning algorithms. Consequently, this study is tested on big data set of images and we achieved acceptable accuracy from K-NN classification algorithm in detection of brain tumor.  相似文献

Diabetes or Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is the upset that happens due to high glucose level within the body. With the passage of time, this polygenic disease creates eye deficiency referred to as Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) which can cause a major loss of vision. The symptoms typically originate within the retinal space square in the form of enlarged veins, liquid dribble, exudates, haemorrhages and small scale aneurysms. In current therapeutic science, pictures are the key device for an exact finding of patients’ illness. Meanwhile, an assessment of new medicinal symbolisms stays complex. Recently, Computer Vision (CV) with deep neural networks can train models with high accuracy. The thought behind this paper is to propose a computerized learning model to distinguish the key precursors of Dimensionality Reduction (DR). The proposed deep learning framework utilizes the strength of selected models (VGG and Inception V3) by fusing the extracated features. To select the most discriminant features from a pool of features, an entropy concept is employed before the classification step. The deep learning models are fit for measuring the highlights as veins, liquid dribble, exudates, haemorrhages and miniaturized scale aneurysms into various classes. The model will ascertain the loads, which give the seriousness level of the patient’s eye. The model will be useful to distinguish the correct class of seriousness of diabetic retinopathy pictures.  相似文献

The identification of brain tumors is multifarious work for the separation of the similar intensity pixels from their surrounding neighbours. The detection of tumors is performed with the help of automatic computing technique as presented in the proposed work. The non-active cells in brain region are known to be benign and they will never cause the death of the patient. These non-active cells follow a uniform pattern in brain and have lower density than the surrounding pixels. The Magnetic Resonance (MR) image contrast is improved by the cost map construction technique. The deep learning algorithm for differentiating the normal brain MRI images from glioma cases is implemented in the proposed method. This technique permits to extract the linear features from the brain MR image and glioma tumors are detected based on these extracted features. Using k-mean clustering algorithm the tumor regions in glioma are classified. The proposed algorithm provides high sensitivity, specificity and tumor segmentation accuracy.  相似文献

Wireless sensor network (WSN) has been widely used due to its vast range of applications. The energy problem is one of the important problems influencing the complete application. Sensor nodes use very small batteries as a power source and replacing them is not an easy task. With this restriction, the sensor nodes must conserve their energy and extend the network lifetime as long as possible. Also, these limits motivate much of the research to suggest solutions in all layers of the protocol stack to save energy. So, energy management efficiency becomes a key requirement in WSN design. The efficiency of these networks is highly dependent on routing protocols directly affecting the network lifetime. Clustering is one of the most popular techniques preferred in routing operations. In this work we propose a novel energy-efficient protocol for WSN based on a bat algorithm called ECO-BAT (Energy Consumption Optimization with BAT algorithm for WSN) to prolong the network lifetime. We use an objective function that generates an optimal number of sensor clusters with cluster heads (CH) to minimize energy consumption. The performance of the proposed approach is compared with Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) and Energy Efficient cluster formation in wireless sensor networks based on the Multi-Objective Bat algorithm (EEMOB) protocols. The results obtained are interesting in terms of energy-saving and prolongation of the network lifetime.  相似文献

Spam has turned into a big predicament these days, due to the increase in the number of spam emails, as the recipient regularly receives piles of emails. Not only is spam wasting users’ time and bandwidth. In addition, it limits the storage space of the email box as well as the disk space. Thus, spam detection is a challenge for individuals and organizations alike. To advance spam email detection, this work proposes a new spam detection approach, using the grasshopper optimization algorithm (GOA) in training a multilayer perceptron (MLP) classifier for categorizing emails as ham and spam. Hence, MLP and GOA produce an artificial neural network (ANN) model, referred to (GOAMLP). Two corpora are applied Spam Base and UK-2011 Web spam for this approach. Finally, the finding represents evidence that the proposed spam detection approach has achieved a better level in spam detection than the status of the art.  相似文献

With the development of deep learning and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), the accuracy of automatic food recognition based on visual data have significantly improved. Some research studies have shown that the deeper the model is, the higher the accuracy is. However, very deep neural networks would be affected by the overfitting problem and also consume huge computing resources. In this paper, a new classification scheme is proposed for automatic food-ingredient recognition based on deep learning. We construct an up-to-date combinational convolutional neural network (CBNet) with a subnet merging technique. Firstly, two different neural networks are utilized for learning interested features. Then, a well-designed feature fusion component aggregates the features from subnetworks, further extracting richer and more precise features for image classification. In order to learn more complementary features, the corresponding fusion strategies are also proposed, including auxiliary classifiers and hyperparameters setting. Finally, CBNet based on the well-known VGGNet, ResNet and DenseNet is evaluated on a dataset including 41 major categories of food ingredients and 100 images for each category. Theoretical analysis and experimental results demonstrate that CBNet achieves promising accuracy for multi-class classification and improves the performance of convolutional neural networks.  相似文献

Active learning has been widely utilized to reduce the labeling cost of supervised learning. By selecting specific instances to train the model, the performance of the model was improved within limited steps. However, rare work paid attention to the effectiveness of active learning on it. In this paper, we proposed a deep active learning model with bidirectional encoder representations from transformers (BERT) for text classification. BERT takes advantage of the self-attention mechanism to integrate contextual information, which is beneficial to accelerate the convergence of training. As for the process of active learning, we design an instance selection strategy based on posterior probabilities Margin, Intra-correlation and Inter-correlation (MII). Selected instances are characterized by small margin, low intra-cohesion and high inter-cohesion. We conduct extensive experiments and analytics with our methods. The effect of learner is compared while the effect of sampling strategy and text classification is assessed from three real datasets. The results show that our method outperforms the baselines in terms of accuracy.  相似文献

The brain tumour is the mass where some tissues become old or damaged, but they do not die or not leave their space. Mainly brain tumour masses occur due to malignant masses. These tissues must die so that new tissues are allowed to be born and take their place. Tumour segmentation is a complex and time-taking problem due to the tumour’s size, shape, and appearance variation. Manually finding such masses in the brain by analyzing Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI) is a crucial task for experts and radiologists. Radiologists could not work for large volume images simultaneously, and many errors occurred due to overwhelming image analysis. The main objective of this research study is the segmentation of tumors in brain MRI images with the help of digital image processing and deep learning approaches. This research study proposed an automatic model for tumor segmentation in MRI images. The proposed model has a few significant steps, which first apply the pre-processing method for the whole dataset to convert Neuroimaging Informatics Technology Initiative (NIFTI) volumes into the 3D NumPy array. In the second step, the proposed model adopts U-Net deep learning segmentation algorithm with an improved layered structure and sets the updated parameters. In the third step, the proposed model uses state-of-the-art Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention (MICCAI) BRATS 2018 dataset with MRI modalities such as T1, T1Gd, T2, and Fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR). Tumour types in MRI images are classified according to the tumour masses. Labelling of these masses carried by state-of-the-art approaches such that the first is enhancing tumour (label 4), edema (label 2), necrotic and non-enhancing tumour core (label 1), and the remaining region is label 0 such that edema (whole tumour), necrosis and active. The proposed model is evaluated and gets the Dice Coefficient (DSC) value for High-grade glioma (HGG) volumes for their test set-a, test set-b, and test set-c 0.9795, 0.9855 and 0.9793, respectively. DSC value for the Low-grade glioma (LGG) volumes for the test set is 0.9950, which shows the proposed model has achieved significant results in segmenting the tumour in MRI using deep learning approaches. The proposed model is fully automatic that can implement in clinics where human experts consume maximum time to identify the tumorous region of the brain MRI. The proposed model can help in a way it can proceed rapidly by treating the tumor segmentation in MRI.  相似文献

Osteosarcoma is one of the most widespread causes of bone cancer globally and has a high mortality rate. Early diagnosis may increase the chances of treatment and survival however the process is time-consuming (reliability and complexity involved to extract the hand-crafted features) and largely depends on pathologists’ experience. Convolutional Neural Network (CNN—an end-to-end model) is known to be an alternative to overcome the aforesaid problems. Therefore, this work proposes a compact CNN architecture that has been rigorously explored on a Small Osteosarcoma histology Image Dataaseet (a high-class imbalanced dataset). Though, during training, class-imbalanced data can negatively affect the performance of CNN. Therefore, an oversampling technique has been proposed to overcome the aforesaid issue and improve generalization performance. In this process, a hierarchical CNN model is designed, in which the former model is non-regularized (due to dense architecture) and the later one is regularized, specifically designed for small histopathology images. Moreover, the regularized model is integrated with CNN’s basic architecture to reduce overfitting. Experimental results demonstrate that oversampling might be an effective way to address the imbalanced class problem during training. The training and testing accuracies of the non-regularized CNN model are 98% & 78% with an imbalanced dataset and 96% & 81% with a balanced dataset, respectively. The regularized CNN model training and testing accuracies are 84% & 75% for an imbalanced dataset and 87% & 86% for a balanced dataset.  相似文献

This article uses a recently developed bat algorithm (BA) meta-heuristic optimization method to solve the reliability redundancy allocation problem (RAP). The RAP is a well-known NP-hard problem which has been the subject of much prior work, generally of a restricted form where each component must consist of identical components in parallel to make computations tractable. Meta-heuristic methods overcome this limitation and allow for larger instances to be solved for a more general case where different components can be placed in parallel. The BA has not yet been used in reliability design, as it was a method initially designed for continuous problems. A BA is devised and tested on a well-known suite of problems from the literature. It is shown that the BA is competitive with the best known heuristics for redundancy allocation.  相似文献

Diabetes is associated with many complications that could lead to death. Diabetic retinopathy, a complication of diabetes, is difficult to diagnose and may lead to vision loss. Visual identification of micro features in fundus images for the diagnosis of DR is a complex and challenging task for clinicians. Because clinical testing involves complex procedures and is time-consuming, an automated system would help ophthalmologists to detect DR and administer treatment in a timely manner so that blindness can be avoided. Previous research works have focused on image processing algorithms, or neural networks, or signal processing techniques alone to detect diabetic retinopathy. Therefore, we aimed to develop a novel integrated approach to increase the accuracy of detection. This approach utilized both convolutional neural networks and signal processing techniques. In this proposed method, the biological electro retinogram (ERG) sensor network (BSN) and deep convolution neural network (DCNN) were developed to detect and classify DR. In the BSN system, electrodes were used to record ERG signal, which was pre-processed to be noise-free. Processing was performed in the frequency domain by the application of fast Fourier transform (FFT) and mel frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) were extracted. Artificial neural network (ANN) classifier was used to classify the signals of eyes with DR and normal eye. Additionally, fundus images were captured using a fundus camera, and these were used as the input for DCNN-based analysis. The DCNN consisted of many layers to facilitate the extraction of features and classification of fundus images into normal images, non-proliferative DR (NPDR) or early-stage DR images, and proliferative DR (PDR) or advanced-stage DR images. Furthermore, it classified NPDR according to microaneurysms, hemorrhages, cotton wool spots, and exudates, and the presence of new blood vessels indicated PDR. The accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of the ANN classifier were found to be 94%, 95%, and 93%, respectively. Both the accuracy rate and sensitivity rate of the DCNN classifier was 96.5% for the images acquired from various hospitals as well as databases. A comparison between the accuracy rates of BSN and DCNN approaches showed that DCNN with fundus images decreased the error rate to 4%.  相似文献

The difficulty in delineating the glioma margins in brain is a major obstacle for its completed resection, which leads to the disproportionately high recurrence and mortality. Besides the fast exertion rate, inadequate sensitivity and non‐targeting specificity, the main reason leading to failure of small molecular probes to define gliomas is their incapability to efficiently cross the blood brain tumor barrier (BBTB). Nanoprobes (NPs) show promise to precisely delineate the geographically irregular tumor margins due to their tunable size/circulation lifetime that maximize their passive intratumoral accumulation and their convenience for surface modification that increases the BBTB transcytosis efficacy, imaging sensitivity and receptor targeting specificity. In this work, the characteristics of the BBTB are addressed from biological and physiological perspectives, strategies are presented to deliver NPs across the BBTB, recent developments of NPs are reviewed for glioma visualization and finally the difficulty and promise for clinical translation of NPs are described. Overall, NPs hold great potential for glioma imaging and treatment by pre‐surgically delineating tumor margins and intra‐operatively guiding tumor excision.  相似文献
