研究发酵黄芪粉对奶牛产奶量及乳品质的影响.对照组奶牛饲喂基础日粮,试验Ⅰ、Ⅱ和Ⅲ组奶牛分别饲喂10、20和30 g/(头·d)的发酵黄芪粉基础日粮.结果表明:与对照组相比,试验组奶牛产奶量增加了0.95、1.45和1.58 kg/(头·d),但试验Ⅱ、Ⅲ组组间差异不显著;可显著提高奶牛乳蛋白率,但对奶牛乳脂率、乳糖及非脂固型物均无显著影响;可降低奶牛乳体细胞数,其中试验Ⅱ、Ⅲ组奶牛乳体细胞数显著低于对照组和试验Ⅰ组,但试验Ⅱ、Ⅲ组组间差异不显著;可提高奶牛经济效益,各试验组奶牛经济效益分别高于对照组2.6、3.4和2.72元/(头·d).该试验条件下,发酵黄芪粉以20 g/(头·d)的添加量较好.  相似文献

The objective of the current study was to investigate the effect of N-carbamoylglutamate (NCG) supplementation on milk production and nitrogen (N) utilization in Chinese Holstein dairy cows. Sixty multiparous cows (78 ± 17.3 d in milk, 635 ± 61.00 kg of body weight, and 41.9 ± 7.9 kg/d milk yield; mean ± SD) were blocked by parity, days in milk, and milk yield and randomly allocated to 1 of 4 groups, each of which was fed a dietary treatment containing 0 (control), 10, 20, or 30 g of NCG/d. Milk yield was recorded weekly. Dry matter intake, milk composition, plasma variables, and urea N contents in plasma, urine, and milk were determined every other week. Blood samples were collected from the coccygeal vein. Rumen microbial protein synthesis was estimated based on the purine derivatives in the urine. Dry matter intake was found to be similar between the treatments. Addition of 20 g of NCG/d tended to increase milk yield (40.2 vs. 38.1 kg/d) and increased the content (2.83 vs. 2.74%) and yield (1.12 vs. 1.02 kg/d) of milk protein compared with the control. The yield and content of milk fat were similar between the treatments, whereas the contents of lactose and total solids increased linearly with an increase in NCG. Dietary supplementation of NCG linearly increased the plasma nitric oxide level and decreased the plasma ammonia N level. Compared with the control, the plasma Arg concentration in cows fed 10, 20, and 30 g of NCG/d was increased by 1.1, 10.4, and 16.0%, respectively. The urea N concentrations in the milk, plasma, and urine decreased with the addition of NCG, although the lowest urea N concentrations were observed with the addition of 20 g of NCG/d. The conversion of dietary crude protein to milk protein exhibited quadratic trends of improvement by NCG supplementation, with a peak at 20 g of NCG/d. The rumen microbial protein synthesis was not altered by NCG supplementation, but the metabolizable protein tended to show a quadratic increase in cows fed 20 g of NCG/d. In conclusion, supplementation of 20 g of NVG/d may alter the plasma metabolites, optimize the AA profile, increase the metabolizable protein utilization, and thereby improve the lactation performance and N utilization of high-yielding dairy cows.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to assess whether the milk ELISA status for antibodies against bovine leukemia virus was associated with 305-d milk production in Canadian dairy cattle. Test results and test-day production data from 19,785 dairy cows were available for analysis. A linear mixed model was used with the estimated 305-d milk production as the outcome and lactation number, somatic cell count, calving season, days in milk, and breed as fixed effects. Herd nested in province was included as random effect. In conclusion, bovine leukemia virus antibody milk ELISA status was not associated with milk production.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the global methylation rate in blood DNA and its relationship with lactation performance. A total of 196 mid-lactation dairy cows were fed the same diet under the same management. Milk yield was recorded and blood samples were collected from the jugular vein before morning feeding. The blood global DNA methylation rates were quantified using a methylation quantification kit. Overall, the average blood global DNA methylation rate of all cows was 12.4%. When DNA methylation rates were compared between cows with high (n = 40; 37.0 to 42.0 kg/d) and low (n = 33; 24.0 to 30.0 kg/d) milk yield, DNA methylation rates in the lower-yield cows (14.1 ± 0.7%) were significantly higher than those in the higher-yield animals (11.6 ± 0.7%). Our results indicated an association of milk and protein yields with global DNA methylation rates in lactating dairy cows. However, further research is needed to determine whether this association reflects the true influence of epigenetic mechanisms on yield or whether other factors, such as different proportions of blood cell types in high- and low-yielding cows, affect apparent global DNA methylation levels.  相似文献

The effects of a monensin premix on milk fatty acid content during grain-induced subacute ruminal acidosis (SARA) in Holstein cows receiving a total mixed ration was investigated. Six multiparous, rumen-fistulated Holstein cows were used in a two-treatment, two-period crossover design with 6-wk periods. Experimental treatments were either a monensin premix or a placebo premix. At the beginning of wk 4, SARA was induced in experimental cows for a 10-d period using a grain challenge model. The administration of a monensin premix elevated milk fat proportion of total short-chain saturated fatty acids (sum of C4 to C15). Milk fat proportions of conjugated linoleic acid isomers were unaffected. Linolenic acid (C18:3n3) proportion in milk fat of monensin-treated cows were lower when compared with placebo-treated cows during the SARA period. Results from this study indicate that dietary supplementation with monensin during SARA had little effect on milk fatty acid content.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to compare the effects of oilseed‐based supplements, rapeseed and linseed, against a barley‐based control, on the fatty acid composition, and subsequent solid fat ratio, of the milk fat from dairy cows. In addition, as a means of understanding the digestive processes which influence the milk fat composition, ruminal extracts were collected from the cows and analysed for fatty acid composition. Four lactating dairy cows each fitted with a rumen fistula were provided with silage and one of four concentrate diets. The main constituent of the concentrate supplements was either rapeseed (ground or unground), linseed (unground) or a barley control. The diets were offered in accordance with a 4 × 4 Latin square arrangement. The oilseed‐supplemented concentrates provided the cows with 620–640 g fatty acids day?1. Experimental treatments were provided to the cows for 2 weeks, after which ruminal extracts were collected over a 24 h period and a milk sample was taken. All extracts were analysed for fatty acid composition. The diets fed influenced the long‐chain fatty acid composition of the ruminal extracts and milk fat. The proportion of C18:1n‐9 in the ruminal extracts increased from 202–224 to 282–321 g kg?1 of the total fatty acids when the cows were provided with the rapeseed‐based diets. The linseed‐based diet increased the C18:1n‐9 proportion of the ruminal extracts from 164 to 218 g kg?1 of the total fatty acids. Both rapeseed‐based diets also resulted in a higher proportion of C18:0 in the ruminal extract, possibly owing to biohydrogenation of the dietary fatty acids. This proportion of C18:0 in the ruminal extract was lowest immediately after feeding, increasing to a maximum 4–6 h later. Both rapeseed‐based concentrates increased the proportion of C18:1n‐9 in the milk fat to approximately 300 g kg?1 of the total fatty acids as compared with 214 g kg?1 for the control. The proportion of C18:1n‐9 in the milk fat from the cows offered the linseed‐based concentrate was 246 g kg?1 of the total fatty acids. There were also significant decreases in the proportions of C16:0 in the milk fat from the cows offered all oilseed‐based concentrates. There was no difference between the fatty acid compositions of the milk fats from the cows fed the ground or unground rapeseed‐based supplements. The oilseed‐based supplements also resulted in significant decreases in the solid fat content of the milk fat at temperatures ranging from 0 to 35 °C, which would be indicative of a softer, more spreadable butter. © 2002 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

We aimed to evaluate the interaction between dietary starch concentration, varied by replacing wheat bran with dry ground corn, and replacement of corn silage (CS) with shredded beet pulp (BP) on production, milk fat output, milk fatty acid profile, and body reserves in dairy cows. Sixty-four Holstein dairy cows (140 ± 26 d in milk) were randomly assigned to 8 pens (8 animals per pen). Treatments were arranged in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement with 2 concentrations of starch and 2 sources of fiber and were allotted to 8 pens (2 pens per treatment). Treatments were (1) 15% dry ground corn and 24% CS, (2) 15% dry ground corn and 24% BP replacing CS, (3) 30% dry ground corn and 24% CS, and (4) 30% dry ground corn and 24% BP replacing CS. The trial lasted for 47 d and final 7 d of experimental period was used for data and sample collection. Cows fed the BP-based diets had greater dry matter intake than those offered the CS-based diets, whereas no effects were observed with starch concentration. Milk yield increased by 1.8 kg/d with BP-based diets compared with CS-based diets and by 2.5 kg/d when cows received the high-starch compared with low-starch diets. Interactions between dietary starch concentration and forage substitution were detected for milk fat concentration and yield as BP inclusion lowered milk fat output with high-starch diet. Milk trans-18:1 concentration was lower with 15% dry ground corn and 24% CS compared with other diets. In conclusion, the effects of dietary starch concentration (22 and 32% dry matter) and forage substitution on production responses were independent except for milk fat output and milk trans 18:1 isomers. Substituting CS with BP is effective at increasing milk yield regardless of starch concentration; however, milk fat yield is lower when BP is used with high-starch concentration.  相似文献

Subacute ruminal acidosis (SARA) was induced by replacing 25% of the total mixed ration intake [dry matter (DM) basis] with pellets consisting of 50% wheat and 50% barley. This reduced dietary forage content (DM basis) from 39.7 to 29.8% and increased the dietary concentrate content from 60.3 to 70.2%. Induction of SARA reduced the 24- and 48-h in situ neutral detergent fiber (NDF) degradabilities of grass hay numerically from 31.5% to 24.6% (P = 0.29) and from 51.3% to 36.9% (P < 0.05), respectively. The 24- and 48-h in situ NDF degradabilities of legume hay were reduced from 35.3 to 26.3% (P < 0.05) and from 49.0 to 35.8% (P < 0.05), respectively. The 24- and 48-h in situ NDF degradabilities of corn silage were reduced from 44.0 to 37.2% (P < 0.05) and from 56.1 to 44.8% (P < 0.05), respectively. This study suggests that induction of SARA by excess feeding of wheat/barley pellets reduces the rumen digestion of NDF from grass hay, legume hay, and corn silage.  相似文献

Sixteen multiparous Holstein cows were used to determine the effects of 2-hydroxy-4-(methylthio) butanoic acid isopropyl ester (HMBi: 0 vs. 1.26 g/kg of total ration dry matter (DM) and dietary crude protein (CP) concentration [14.7% (low) vs. 16.9% (standard), DM basis] on milk yield and composition using a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square design experiment with 4-wk periods. Cows were fed ad libitum a total mixed ration with a 1:1 forage-to-concentrate ratio (DM basis), and diets provided an estimated 6.71 and 1.86% lysine and methionine, respectively, in metabolizable protein for the low-protein diet and 6.74 and 1.82% in the standard protein diet. Dry matter intake, milk yield, and composition were measured during wk 4 of each period. There were no effects on DM intake, which averaged 24.7 kg/d. There was an interaction between dietary CP and HMBi for milk yield and 3.5% fat-corrected milk (FCM). Feeding HMBi decreased milk and FCM yield when fed with the low-CP diet but did not affect milk or FCM yield when fed with the standard CP diet. Feeding HMBi increased milk protein concentration regardless of diet CP concentration and increased milk protein yield when added to the standard CP diet but not the low-CP diet. The positive effect of HMBi on milk protein yield was only observed at the standard level of dietary CP, suggesting other factors limited the response to HMBi when dietary protein supply was restricted.  相似文献

Nine multiparous Holstein cows were used in three 3 × 3 Latin squares to investigate the effects of feeding unheated and micronised flaxseed on milk yield and milk fatty acid composition. Three diets were formulated to meet the nutrient requirement of dairy cows in early lactation: a control diet with no added flaxseed (NFS), an unheated flaxseed diet (UFS) and a micronised flaxseed diet (MFS). The level of flaxseed in UFS and MFS was 70 g kg?1 of the diet dry matter (DM). Feeding flaxseed to dairy cows had no effect on DM intake or milk yield. However, energy‐corrected milk was higher (P < 0.05) for cows fed MFS than for those fed UFS or NFS. Supplemental flaxseed reduced (P < 0.05) the milk fat percentage without affecting the concentration of milk protein or milk lactose. However, the yield of milk components was not affected by feeding flaxseed. The concentrations of short‐chain (C4:0 to C12:0) and medium‐chain (C14:0 to C17:0) fatty acids were decreased (P < 0.05) while those of long‐chain fatty acids (C18:0 to C18:3) were increased (P < 0.05) in the milk of cows fed UFS and MFS compared with cows fed NSF. Feeding flaxseed to dairy cows can alter the milk fatty acid composition, but only minor effects on milk fatty acid composition can be expected by feeding micronised versus unheated flaxseed. Changing the composition of milk proteins and AA affects the nutritional and physical properties of dairy products. Intravenous infusions of glucagon decreases milk protein production and concentration by promoting the use of gluconeogenic blood AA for hepatic glucose synthesis. Little is known about how the diversion of AA to gluconeogenesis affects the composition of milk proteins and AA. The objective was to quantify changes in composition of milk protein and AA in response to i.v. glucagon infusions. Three separate experiments were used: 1) 8 Holstein cows were fed ad libitum and infused with glucagon at 10 mg/d for 14 d, 2) 7 Holstein cows were feed restricted and infused with glucagon at 10 mg/d for 14 d, and 3) 4 Brown Swiss cows were infused with glucagon at 5 and 10 mg/d for 2 d each. Milk and milk component yields and milk protein and amino acid composition of samples, collected with blood samples at the first and last day of the glucagon infusion period, were compared with those collected 1 d before and after the glucagon infusion period. Glucagon infusions decreased milk protein production and concentration in each experiment by at least 0.2 ± 0.05 kg/d and 4 ± 0.4 g/L, respectively. The decrease was accompanied by changes in milk protein composition, the most consistent being an increase in κ-casein (1.68 ± 0.27%). Overall, glucagon infusions resulted in higher proportions of κ-casein and αS2-casein (1.34 ± 0.51%) and smaller proportions of αS1-casein (−3.83 ± 1.75%) and α-lactalbumin (−0.91 ± 0.32%). Glucagon had little impact on milk AA composition except an increase in glycine (0.26 ± 0.11%). The results suggest that milk protein synthesis is regulated by many factors including AA and glucose availability.  相似文献

Feed management is one of the principal levers by which the production and composition of milk by dairy cows can be modulated in the short term. The response of milk yield and milk composition to variations in either energy or protein supplies is well known. However, in practice, dietary supplies of energy and protein vary simultaneously, and their interaction is still not well understood. The objective of this trial was to determine whether energy and protein interacted in their effects on milk production and milk composition and whether the response to changes in the diets depended on the parity and potential production of cows. From the results, a model was built to predict the response of milk yield and milk composition to simultaneous variations in energy and protein supplies relative to requirements of cows. Nine treatments, defined by their energy and protein supplies, were applied to 48 cows divided into 4 homogeneous groups (primiparous or multiparous × high or low milk potential) over three 4-wk periods. The control treatment was calculated to cover the predicted requirements of the group of cows in the middle of the trial and was applied to each cow. The other 8 treatments corresponded to fixed supplies of energy and protein, higher or lower than those of the control treatment. The results highlighted a significant energy × protein interaction not only on milk yield but also on protein content and yield. The response of milk yield to energy supply was zero with a negative protein balance and increased with protein supply equal to or higher than requirements. The response of milk yield to changes in the diet was greater for cows with high production potential than for those with low production potential, and the response of milk protein content was higher for primiparous cows than for multiparous cows. The model for the response of milk yield, protein yield, and protein content obtained in this trial made it possible to predict more accurately the variations in production and composition of milk relative to the potential of the cow because of changes in diet composition. In addition, the interaction obtained was in line with a response corresponding to the more limiting of 2 factors: energy or protein.  相似文献

This study investigated the effect of 2 different types of long-acting insulin on milk production, milk composition, and metabolism in lactating dairy cows. Multiparous cows (n = 30) averaging 88 d in milk were assigned to one of 3 treatments in a completely randomized design. Treatments consisted of control (C), Humulin-N (H; Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, IN), and insulin glargine (L). The H and L treatments were administered twice daily at 12-h intervals via subcutaneous injection for 10 d. Cows were milked twice daily, and milk composition was determined every other day. Mammary biopsies were conducted on d 11, and mammary proteins extracted from the biopsies were analyzed by Western blot for components of insulin and mammalian target of rapamycin signaling pathways. Treatment had no effect on dry matter intake or milk yield. Treatment with both forms of long-acting insulin increased milk protein content and tended to increase milk protein yield over the 10-d treatment period. Analysis of milk N fractions from samples collected on d 10 of treatment suggested that cows administered L tended to have higher yields of milk protein fractions than cows administered H. Milk fat content and yield tended to be increased for cows administered long-acting insulins. Lactose content and yields were decreased by treatment with long-acting insulins. Administration of long-acting insulins, particularly L, tended to shift milk fatty acid composition toward increased short- and medium-chain fatty acids and decreased long-chain fatty acids. Plasma concentrations of glucose and urea N were lower for cows administered long-acting insulins; interactions of treatment and sampling time were indicative of more pronounced effects of L than H on these metabolites. Concentrations of nonesterified fatty acids and insulin were increased in cows administered long-acting insulins. Decreased concentrations of urea N in both plasma and milk suggested more efficient use of N in cows administered long-acting insulins. Western blot analysis of mammary tissue collected by biopsy indicated that the ratios of phosphorylated protein kinase b (Akt) to total Akt and phosphorylated ribosomal protein S6 (rpS6) to total rpS6 were not affected by long-acting insulins. Modestly elevating insulin activity in lactating dairy cows using long-acting insulins altered milk composition and metabolism. Future research should explore mechanisms by which either insulin concentrations or insulin signaling pathways in the mammary gland can be altered to enhance milk fat and protein production.  相似文献

Removing His from a postruminal AA infusion decreases milk protein and increases milk fat content. Feather meal is an inexpensive protein source, high in rumen undegradable protein but low in His. The objective of our study was to investigate dietary feather meal as a method for creating a His deficiency or imbalance to alter milk composition. Four dietary treatments were fed for 4 wk each to 8 multiparous mid-lactation Holstein cows in a replicated 4 × 4 Latin square design. A standard-protein control diet (SP-C) was formulated to provide 3,100 g/d of metabolizable protein (MP). Feather meal was added to the control diet either to replace the MP isonitrogenously (SP-FM) or to increase the MP supply to 3,484 g/d (HP-FM). As an isonitrogenous control for HP-FM, a high-protein diet (HP-C) was formulated with His-adequate protein sources to provide the same MP content as HP-FM. Dry matter intake tended to decrease when feather meal was fed. Predicted flows of digestible His, Met, and Lys, and plasma concentrations of these AA were reduced on both feather meal diets. Predicted flows of total digestible essential AA were not different between HP-FM and SP-C. We concluded that the DMI depression on HP-FM prevented an imbalance of excess AA over His, and created a deficiency of His, Met, and Lys compared with SP-C. Milk production decreased on the 2 feather meal treatments, partly explained by a tendency for DMI to decrease. Milk yield was lowest on SP-FM at 30.3 kg/d and highest on HP-C at 37.9 kg/d. Milk fat yield was not affected by diet but protein and lactose yields were both lower with feather meal. Protein yields were 860 and 998 g/d, whereas lactose yields were 1,384 and 1,561 g/d for SP-FM and HP-FM, respectively. This resulted in a higher fat content and lower protein percentage on FM diets. The ratio of solids-not-fat:fat in milk was lowest on SP-FM at 2.11 compared with 2.56 on SP-C. Adding feather meal to the diet by replacing MP isonitrogenously was more effective at lowering the solids-not-fat:fat ratio than increasing the MP content with an imbalanced protein source.  相似文献

Abrupt and gradual dry-off strategies by reducing feeding level (normal vs. reduced energy density), reducing milking frequency (twice vs. once daily), and administration of a dopamine agonist after last milking (i.m. saline vs. cabergoline injection) were investigated (2 × 2 × 2 factorial arrangement) for their effects on feed intake, milk yield, energy balance, milk leakage, and clinical udder characteristics in 119 Holstein cows. In the last week before dry-off, cows were assigned to 1 of 4 combinations of feeding level and milking frequency. Within 3 h after last milking, cows were injected with either saline or a dopamine agonist (cabergoline; Velactis, Ceva Santé Animale; labeled for use only with abrupt dry-off, i.e., no preceding reduction in feeding level or milking frequency before last milking). After dry-off, all cows were fed the same diet for dry cows, and data collection continued for a week. Dry matter intake (DMI) was recorded in automated feed bins and milk yield in an automatic milking system where additional concentrate was fed. Clinical udder characteristics and milk leakage were scored 10 times during the week before and the week after dry-off. Before dry-off, total DMI decreased with reduced feeding level compared with normal feeding level, but did not differ between milking frequencies. The combined effect of reduced DMI and diet energy concentration resulted in a 47% lower net energy intake with reduced feeding level compared with normal feeding level during the week before dry-off. Milk yield was approximately 30% lower during the week before dry-off when either feeding level or milking frequency was reduced compared with no change in feeding level or milking frequency, whereas milk yield was 45% lower when both feeding level and milking frequency were reduced. The net energy balance during the week before dry-off was negative with reduced feeding level and more negative when combined with twice-daily milking. After dry-off, udder engorgement was reduced in the 3 gradual dry-off treatments compared with abrupt dry-off. Cabergoline injection after last milking resulted in least udder engorgement and signs of milk leakage for 48 h, but also resulted in abrupt reduction of DMI lasting approximately 24 h irrespective of treatment before dry-off. In conclusion, gradual cessation of lactation by reducing milking frequency to once daily without reducing the feeding level decreased milk yield before dry-off in high-yielding dairy cows and reduced udder engorgement after dry-off without inducing negative energy balance during the period of dry-off. In contrast, reduced feeding level induced negative energy balance, which may compromise welfare due to metabolic stress and hunger. No clear differences in risk of milk leakage after dry-off were observed between abrupt and gradual dry-off management strategies. Use of cabergoline led to fewer signs of milk leakage and reduced udder engorgement during the first days after dry-off, which may positively affect welfare at dry-off. However, the mechanism behind and the welfare consequences of the concomitant abrupt decrease in DMI lasting approximately 24 h needs further investigation to complete our understanding of dopamine agonist use for dry-off.  相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to determine whether longer-term deficiencies in the supply of limiting amino acids would be accompanied by a decline in mammary function (total DNA, cell proliferation rate and activities of key enzymes), and whether this would adversely affect the cow's ability to respond to a return to a nutritionally adequate diet. The first experiment was performed in early/mid lactation, and the second, using the same cows, was carried out in mid/late lactation. A control group of six cows were given a grass silage-cereal diet containing fish meal as the sole protein supplement (amino acid adequate) throughout the experiments, whereas another group of six cows in treatment received the control diet for 2 wk (lactation wk 5 and 6) and then were changed to a diet in which the fish meal was replaced by an equivalent amount of protein as feather meal (amino acid deficient) for 6 wk before returning to the fish meal diet for 4 wk (Experiment 1). After a rest period of 5 wk, the experimental procedure was repeated (Experiment 2). Although there was a fall in milk yield as lactation advanced, leading to lower milk yields in Experiment 2, the marked difference in milk yield between treatments was similar for the two stages of lactation (21% vs 16% in Experiment 1 and 2, respectively). In both experiments, the marked fall of milk yield in cows given the feather meal diet was completely recovered by a return to the fish meal diet. Despite the markedly lower milk yield with the amino acid-deficient diet, however, there was no clear evidence of corresponding changes in measurements of mammary function.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to measure cow response to feeding of two dietary concentrations of P, one of which was close to recent National Research Council requirements, and the other of which was well in excess of the requirement. Diets containing 0.37 or 0.57% P (dry basis) were fed to Holstein cows for the first 165 d of lactation, and occasionally longer until cows were confirmed pregnant approximately 60 d after insemination. At calving, cows were randomly assigned to experimental diets. The number of cows completing a minimum of 165 d of lactation was 123 for the 0.37 and 124 for the 0.57% P groups. Cows were housed in a stanchion barn and fed one of two transition diets, each formulated to contain one of the P treatments for the first 3 wk of lactation, and then cows were moved to a free-stall barn where the experimental diets were group fed. Milk production, milk fat, and milk protein averaged 35.1 kg/d, 3.92%, and 2.90% for the 0.37% P diet, and 34.9 kg/d, 3.98%, and 2.91% for the 0.57% P diet. None of these measures were different between treatments. Blood serum P concentrations on d 50 and 100 of lactation averaged 6.1 and 6.2 mg/dL for the 0.37% P diet, and 6.8 and 6.9 mg/dL for the 0.57% P diet. No treatment differences were detected in milk production, cow health, or body condition score.  相似文献

Activity of stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) in the mammary gland is important for determining the relative proportions of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids in milk and the concentration of the conjugated linoleic acid isomer rumenic acid (RA; cis-9,trans-11 18:2). Previous studies identified a large degree of between-cow variation in SCD activity, which was consistent across diets and suggests a genetic influence. The objectives of this study were to quantify genetic and phenotypic variations in fatty acid concentrations and SCD indices in milk fat and to estimate their heritabilities in a population of United Kingdom dairy cows. Milk samples were collected from 2,408 daughters of 597 Holstein-Friesian sires on 325 commercial farms for determination of fatty acid profiles. Indices of SCD activity were calculated by expressing each SCD product (cis-9 14:1, cis-9 16:1, cis-9 18:1, and RA) as a proportion of the precursor plus product [e.g., SCDI14 = cis-9 14:1/(14:0 + cis-9 14:1)]. For individual fatty acids, phenotypic variance was considerably greater than additive genetic variance, resulting in small and nonsignificant heritability estimates (± standard error) for all except 6:0 (h2 = 0.27 ± 0.10), 8:0 (h2 = 0.27 ± 0.09), 12:0 (h2 = 0.13 ± 0.07), cis-9 14:1 (h2 = 0.28 ± 0.10), and cis-9 18:1 (h2 = 0.12 ± 0.07). Heritability estimates of desaturase indices were significant for SCDI14 (h2 = 0.38 ± 0.11), SCDI18 (h2 = 0.19 ± 0.09), and SCDIRA (h2 = 0.21 ± 0.09), but not for SCDI16 (h2 = 0.05 ± 0.06). This study provides evidence that additive effects are responsible for a significant proportion of the phenotypic variation in SCD activity in dairy cows. It is concluded that because heritability of desaturase indices is moderate and significant in many cases, these indices could be investigated further for use in future breeding programs to increase concentrations of monounsaturated fatty acids and RA while decreasing concentrations of saturated fatty acids in milk fat.  相似文献
