Multicast routing over semi-permanent VP (virtual path)s in an ATM (asynchronous transfer mode)-based B-ISDN (broadband integrated services digital network) determines a set of VPs connecting from a source node to destination nodes. The problem of finding the optimal constrained multicasting tree over the semi-permanent VPs in an ATM network is known to be NP (nondeterministic polynomial time)-complete. We develop an optimization methodology for searching a constrained multicast routing tree with minimum cost, using simulated annealing technique. We define the problem-dependent components such as state space and cost function, and refine the implementation-dependent factors including initial temperature and cooling schedule. The simulation results show that our optimization methodology demonstrates good behavior in terms of performance on a variety of graphs modeling the sample ATM networks.  相似文献

The rise in multicast implementations has seen with it an increased support for fast failure recovery from link and node failures. Most recovery mechanisms augment additional services to existing protocols causing excessive overhead, and these modifications are predominantly protocol-specific. In this paper, we develop a multicast failure recovery mechanism that constructs protocol independent fast reroute paths to recover from single link and single node failures. We observe that single link failure recovery in multicast networks is similar to recovering unicast traffic, and we use existing unicast recovery mechanisms for multicast traffic. We construct multicast protection trees that provide instantaneous failure recovery from single node failures. For a given node x, the multicast protection tree spans all its neighbors and does not include itself. Thus, when the node fails, the neighbors of the node are connected through the multicast protection tree instead of node x, and forward the traffic over the multicast protection tree for the duration of failure recovery. The multicast protection trees are constructed a priori, without the knowledge of the multicast traffic in the network. Based on simulations on three realistic network topologies, we observe that the multicast protection trees increase the routing table size only by 38% on average and the path length between any source–destination pair by 13% on average.  相似文献

Multicasting is an important issue for numerous applications in parallel and distributed computing. In multicasting, the same message is delivered from a source node to an arbitrary number of destination nodes. The star graph interconnection network has been recognized as an attractive alternative to the popular hypercube network. In this paper, we propose an efficient and deadlock-free tree-based multi-cast routing scheme for wormhole-routed star graph networks with hamiltonian path. In our proposed routing scheme, the router is with the input-buffer-based asynchronous replication mechanism that requires extra hardware cost. Meanwhile, the router simultaneously sends incoming flits on more than one outgoing channel. We perform simulation experiments with the network latency and the network traffic. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme reduces multicast latency more efficiently than other schemes.  相似文献

随着多媒体业务的发展,多播技术应用日益广泛,多播路由是要寻找连接源节点和一组目的节点的一棵多播树,这个问题在数学上归结为Steiner树问题,它是一个NPC问题。在实际网络中,网络节点具备不同的多播能力,有些节点不支持多播,有些节点支持多播,但为了保证网络速度和节点负载平衡,支持多播的节点要限制其复制信息的数量,即节点的多播能力受限。在这种情况下,寻找多播树变得更加困难,该文用节点的约束来表示敏个节点具备的多播能力,节点多播能力受限情况下的多播路由问题被称为带度约束的多播路由问题,其仍是一个NPC问题。该文提出了一种求解带度的约束多播路由问题的双层遗传算法。算法的基本思想是最优多播树应是一棵满足度约束的最小生成树,因此问题的关键在于如何找到包括在最优生成树中的Steiner节点。遗传算法 采用二进制编码方式,内层算法用于求解满足度约束的最小生成树;外层算法进行全局搜索。该文将算法在稀疏图上进行实验,为了更好地模拟真实网络,稀疏图中每个节点具有不同的多播能力,并且多播目的节点数目相比于网络节点数要小。实验对算法进行了三方面比较:(1)解的质量;(2)计算时间;(3)算法的收敛性。实验结果表明,文中提出的遗传算法能够找到费用较小的多播树,但是当网络规模增大时,算法的求解时间也较长。  相似文献

Parallel computing on networks of workstations is fast becoming a cost-effective high-performance computing alternative to MPPs. Such a computing environment typically consists of processing nodes interconnected through a switch-based irregular network. Many of the problems that were solved for regular networks have to be solved anew for these systems. One such problem is that of efficient multicast communication. In this paper, we propose two broad categories of schemes for efficient multicasting in such irregular networks: network interface-based (NI-based) and switch-based. The NI-based multicasting schemes use the network interface of intermediate destinations for absorbing and retransmitting messages to other destinations in the multicast tree. In contrast, the switch-based multicasting schemes use hardware support for packet replication at the switches of the network and a concept known as multidestination routing to convey a multicast message from one source to multiple destinations. We first present alternative schemes for efficient multipacket forwarding at the NI and derive an optimal k-binomial multicast tree for multipacket NI-based multicast. We then propose two switch-based multicasting schemes that differ in the power of the encoding scheme and the complexity of the decoding logic at the switches. These multicasting schemes use path-based multidestination worms that can cover all nodes connected to switches along a valid unicast path and tree-based multidestination worms that can cover entire destination sets in a single phase using one worm, respectively. For each scheme, we describe the associated header encoding and decoding operation, the method for deriving multidestination worms that cover arbitrary multicast destination sets, and the multicasting scheme using the derived multidestination worms  相似文献

Software-defined networking (SDN) has received tremendous attention from both industry and academia. The centralized control plane in SDN has a global view of the network and can be used to provide more effective solutions for complex problems, such as traffic engineering. This study is motivated by recent advancement in SDN and increasing popularity of multicasting applications. We propose a technique to increase the resiliency of multicasting in SDN based on the subtree protection mechanism. Multicasting is a group communication technology, which uses the network infrastructure efficiently by sending the data only once from one or multiple sources to a group of receivers that share a common path. Multicasting applications, e.g., live video streaming and video conferencing, become popular, but they are delay-sensitive applications. Failures in an ongoing multicast session can cause packet losses and delay, which can significantly affect quality of service (QoS). In this study, we adapt a subtree-based technique to protect a multicast tree constructed for OpenFlow switches in SDN. The proposed algorithm can detect link or node failures from a multicast tree and then determines which part of the multicast tree requires changes in the flow table to recover from the failure. With a centralized controller in SDN, the backup paths can be created much more effectively in comparison to the signaling approach used in traditional multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) networks for backup paths, which makes the subtree-based protection mechanism feasible. We also implement a prototype of the algorithm in the POX controller and measure its performance by emulating failures in different tree topologies in Mininet.  相似文献

移动自组网中节点的使用寿命很大程度上依赖于电池能量的有效利用.通过研究移动节点能量的剩余和使用情况,提出了一种新的关于节点能量估价函数PCF(power cost function)计算方法,能够较好地反映当前节点的能耗值.并且结合PCF提出一种基于移动预测和概率构造能量有效组播树M-REMiT(an algorithm based on mobility prediction and probability for refining energy-efficient multicast tree)的分布式算法,在节点移动的情况下,利用概率优化方法减少一棵组播树的总能量消耗,延长了组播树中每个节点的使用寿命.模拟结果显示这个组播算法比以前相关的算法具有更好的性能.  相似文献

在WDM网络中,组播是一种重要的通信需求。组播算法就是要建立一棵从源节点到目的节点的组播树,并给这棵组播树分配波长。但是在网络中有波长转换器的情况下计算的复杂性会大大增加。该文在分层图结构中基础上,提出了组播路由和波长分配的一种遗传算法,可以在满足时延约束的情况下,寻找费用最小的组播树,将路由和波长分配统一进行,同时考虑到了网络中波长转换器的存在。数值仿真实验结果表明该算法具有较好的平均性能和较低的时间复杂度。  相似文献

Given a source node and a set of destination nodes in a network, multicast routing problem is usually treated as Steiner tree problem. Unlike this well-known tree based routing model, multicast routing under multi-path model is to find a set of paths rooted at the source node such that in each path at most a fixed number of destination nodes can be designated to receive the data and every destination node must be designated in a path to receive the data. The cost of routing is the total costs of paths found. In this paper we study how to construct a multicast routing of minimal cost under multi-path model. We propose two approximation algorithms for this NP-complete problem with guaranteed performance ratios.  相似文献

In communication networks, many applications, such as video on demand and video conferencing, must establish a communications tree that spans a subset K in a vertex set. The source node can then send identical data to all nodes in set K along this tree. This kind of communication is known as multicast communication. A network optimization problem, called the Steiner tree problem (STP), is presented to find a least cost multicasting tree. In this paper, an O(|E|) algorithm is presented to find a minimum Steiner tree for series-parallel graphs where |E| is the number of edges. Based on this algorithm, we proposed an O(22c·|E|) algorithm to solve the Steiner tree problem for general graphs where c is the number of applied factoring procedures. The c value is strongly related to the topology of a given graph. This is quite different from other algorithms with exponential time complexities in |K|.  相似文献

Multicast communication involves transmitting information from a single source to multiple destinations and is a requirement in high-performance networks. Current trends in networking applications indicate an increasing demand in future networks for multicast capability. Many multicast applications require not only multicast capability, but also predictable communication performance such as guaranteed multicast latency and bandwidth. In this paper, we present a design for a nonblocking k-fold multicast network, in which any destination node can be involved in up to k simultaneous multicast connections in a nonblocking manner. We also develop an efficient routing algorithm for the network. As can be seen, a k-fold multicast network has significantly lower network cost than that of k copies of ordinary 1-fold multicast networks and is a cost effective choice for supporting arbitrary multicast communication.  相似文献

Protection trees have been used in the past for restoring multicast and unicast traffic in networks in various failure scenarios. In this paper we focus on shared self-repairing trees for link protection in unicast mesh networks. Shared protection trees have been proposed as a relatively simple approach that is easy to reconfigure and could provide sub-second restoration times with sub-optimal redundancy requirement. The self-repairing nature of this class of protection trees may make them an attractive option for cases where dynamic changes in network topology or demand may occur. In this paper, we present heuristic algorithms to design a self-repairing protection tree for a given network. We study the restorability performance of shared trees and examine the limitations of such schemes in specific topologies, such as cases where long node chains exist. Using extensive simulations with thousands of randomly generated network graphs. We compare redundancy and average backup path length of shared protection trees with optimal tree designs and non-tree designs. We also apply our algorithms to the problem of designing the protection tree in a pre-designed fixed-capacity network, and study the performance of shared protection trees in this scenario under different network loads and link utilization levels.  相似文献

多播路由算法对互连网络的通信性能和多处理机系统性能的发挥起着重要作用。针对基三分层互连网络,在权衡性能、成本和实现的基础上,提出一种基于树的受限多播路由算法TRMA。该算法充分利用基三分层互连网络的层次特性和节点编码中所含的网络拓扑信息实现消息路由,算法设计简单,易于硬件实现。和其他基于树的多播路由算法相比,TRMA算法不需要源节点在发送消息前构建多播树,并将多播树的信息存放在消息中,大大降低了源节点的工作负载,提高整个系统的性能。通过仿真比较了TRMA和基于单播的多播路由算法,结果表明TRMA具有较低的网络延迟和较小的网络流量。  相似文献

Efficient routing of messages is a key to the performance of multicomputers. Multicast communication refers to the delivery of the same message from a source node to an arbitrary number of destination nodes. While multicast communication is highly demanded in many applications, most of the existing multicomputers do not directly support this service; rather it is indirectly supported by multiple one-to-one or broadcast communications, which result in more network traffic and a waste of system resources. The authors study routing evaluation criteria for multicast communication under different switching technologies. Multicast communication in multicomputers is formulated as a graph theoretical problem. Depending on the evaluation criteria and switching technologies, they study three optimal multicast communication problems, which are equivalent to the finding of the following three subgraphs: optimal multicast path, optimal multicast cycle, and minimal Steiner tree, where the interconnection of a multicomputer defines a host graph. They show that all these optimization problems are NP-complete for the popular 2D-mesh and hypercube host graphs. Heuristic multicast algorithms for these routing problems are proposed  相似文献

A deadlock-free multicast scheme called prefix multicasting in irregular networks (i.e., networks with irregular topology) is studied. In prefix routing, a compact routing table is associated with each node (processor). Basically, each outgoing channel of a node is assigned a special label and an outgoing channel is selected if its label is a prefix of the label of the destination node. Node and channel labelling in an irregular network is based on a pre-defined spanning tree which may or may not be minimum. The routing process follows a two-phase process of going up and then down along the spanning tree, with a possible cross channel between two branches of the tree between two phases. It is shown that the proposed routing scheme is deadlock- and livelock-free. The approach is extended to multicasting in which the multicast packet is first forwarded up the tree to the longest common prefix (LCP) of destinations in the multicast. The packet is then treated as a multi-head worm that can split at branches of the spanning tree as the packet is sent down the tree.  相似文献

We suggest a formal model to represent and solve the multicast routing problem in multicast networks. To attain this, we model the network adapting it to a weighted and-or graph, where the weight on a connector corresponds to the cost of sending a packet on the network link modelled by that connector. Then, we use the Soft Constraint Logic Programming (SCLP) framework as a convenient declarative programming environment in which to specify related problems. In particular, we show how the semantics of an SCLP program computes the best tree in the corresponding and-or graph: this result can be adopted to find, from a given source node, the multicast distribution tree having minimum cost and reaching all the destination nodes of the multicast communication. The costs on the connectors can be described also as vectors (multi-dimensional costs), each component representing a different Quality of Service metric value. Therefore, the construction of the best tree may involve a set of criteria, all of which are to be optimized (multi-criteria problem), e.g. maximum global bandwidth and minimum delay that can be experienced on a single link.  相似文献

针对覆盖组播节点的动态特性,研究自组织覆盖网络带度和延时约束的组播动态路由问题,提出了动态覆盖组播路由算法AHMQ。组播树由目的节点驱动动态渐近形成,动态路由优化在通信过程中进行。协议是软状态的,仅要求节点维护局部状态信息,同时利用覆盖网络技术和无线媒质的广播能力,降低了网络负载,提高了重构能力。对算法进行了分析研究,通过实验验证了该算法具有较好的性能。  相似文献
