Ba0·5Sr0·5Ti0·6Zr0·4O3 ceramic has been prepared through solid state reaction route. X-ray diffraction shows that the sample has cubic perovskite structure with space group Pm-3m at room temperature. Temperature dependent dielectric study of the ceramic has been investigated in the frequency range 50 Hz-1 MHz. The density of the sample is determined using Archimedes’ principle and is found to be ∼99% of X-ray density. The dielectric study revealed diffuse phase transition of second order. A broad dielectric anomaly coupled with the shift of dielectric maxima toward a higher temperature with increasing frequency indicates the relaxor-type behaviour in the ceramics. The index of relaxation (γ) and the broadening parameter (Δ) were estimated from a linear fit of the modified Curie-Weiss law. The value of γ ∼ 1·72 indicates the strong relaxor nature of the ceramic. A remarkably good fit to the Vogel-Fulcher relation further supports such a relaxor nature.  相似文献

Modified ceramics (Pb1−x Ca x )[(Mn0·5W0·5)0·10Ti0·90]O3 have been fabricated forx=0, 0·05, 0·10 and 0·15 by high temperature solid state reaction technique. XRD, SEM, DTA and electrical studies of the sample withx=0·10 have been performed. These studies show that the sample is homogeneous single phase perovskite type with tetragonal structure. The phase transition occurs at 330°C. Electrical behaviour of other samples have also been investigated as a function of frequency (1 kHz to 1 MHz) and temperature (26°C to 300°C). The samples withx=0·05 and 0·10 have low loss, low dielectric constant, and show negligible pyroelectric effect. The sample withx=0·15 has minimum values ofɛ and loss which are temperature independent up to about 200°C. It also shows good pyroelectric behaviour. Hence it may be of use in pyroelectric infrared sensors.  相似文献

In the present paper, a modified self-flux technique has been successfully employed for the growth of pure and praseodymium substituted (partially) large single crystals of high temperature superconducting Y1−x Pr x Ba2Cu3O7−δ (x = 0·0,0·2,0·4). Typical sizes of the platy and bulky crystals of pure YBCO(123) material are ≈ 2 × 2 × 0·1 mm3 and 4 × 1 × 1 mm3, respectively. In case of Pr-substitution, the typical sizes of platy and bulky crystals of Y0·8Pr0·2Ba2Cu3O7−δ and Y0·6Pr0·4Ba2Cu3O7−δ materials are ≈ 2 × 3 × 0·1 mm3 and 5 × 1 × 1 mm3 and ≈ 1 × 1·5 × 0·1 mm3 and 7 × 0·2 × 0·1 mm3, respectively. The morphology and growth habit of the as-grown single crystals and the critical transition temperature (T c) of the oxygenated crystals were found to depend on the Pr-content. We have measured the high energy crystalline electric field transitions in samples of Pr x Y1−x Ba2Cu3O7−δ withx ≈ 0·5 andx ≈ 1. The fully Pr-doped samples exhibits three strong transitions with excitation energies of about 65, 85 and 105 meV, plus three more weaker ones at 113, 123 and 132meV. Magnetic intensity is observed in the same energy range in thex=0.5 sample but is largely structureless in character, with only one clear peak at about 109meV. The large number of transitions would seem to indicate a Pr valence of 3+, rather than 4+, but the intrinsically broad character of the excitations is evidence for a dynamically mixed valence state.  相似文献

Measurements of DC electrical resistivity and Seebeck coefficient on the perovskite system La1−x Pb xδ Co1−x Ti x O3−δ for 0·2≤x≤0·9 have been made in the temperature range 300–800 K. AC conductivity,σ a.c, of all the samples were measured as a function of temperature (300–573 K) and frequency (1 kHz-1 MHz). DC resistivity behaviour of all the samples is similar. However, the resistivity value, which varies over 5–6 orders of magnitude, depends on both the compositionx and the structure of the samples. All the samples exhibitp-type electronic conduction. The value of Seebeck coefficient,α, for samples withx≤0·5 initially increases with temperature up to a particular temperature. Above this temperature, the behaviour ofα for samples withx≤0·5 and for samples withx>0·5 over the entire temperature range is similar to that of La CoO3. All the samples exhibit frequency-dependent a.c. conductivity at low temperatures.  相似文献

Polycrystalline Cd x Cu1−x Fe2−y Gd y O4 ferrites fory=0·0 and 0·1 were prepared by ceramic technique. X-ray diffractograms of powder samples show cubic symmetry withx⩾0·2 fory=0·0 and 0·1, while compositions withx=0·0 fory = 0·0 and 0·1 are tetragonal. The thermopower measurements for Gd3+-undoped ferrites in the temperature range 300 K to 788 K shown-type conductivity forx⩾0·2. The substitution of Gd3+ changedn-type conductivity of the compositions top-type. The mobilities calculated show decreasing trend on Gd3+ substitution. The values of activation energy ΔE and drift mobilityE d suggest polaron formation in substituted samples. The conduction mechanism is explained on the basis of localized model and formation of Gd3++Fe2+ stable pairs at B site and Cu1++Fe3+ at A site.  相似文献

A study is made of the change in the optical properties of polymer compositions based on W-containing complexes of highly substituted carboxymethyl cellulose under the action of ionizing radiation (α-particles,60Co γ-rays). It is shown that film layers based on the complexes mentioned can be used as radiochromic materials for α-radiation dosimetry in the dose range of 4·102–5.1·105 Gy. A modified chemical deposition process is employed for the preparation of thin-film (CdS) x -(PbS)1 −x composites with 0·2 ≤x ≤ 0·8. Cadmium sulphate, lead acetate and thiourea are used as the basic source materials. The electrical conductivity is found to decrease with increasing composition parameterx up to 0·5 and increase for further increase inx. The composites are polycrystalline as is revealed from XRD and microscopic observations and show phases of both cubic and hexagonal CdS, cubic CdO and PbS, and tetragonal PbO and PbO2. Additional peaks of free elemental Cd and S have also been observed. For all the phases no significant variation in lattice parameters withx has been observed. The optical absorption studies show the presence of four well-defined absorption edges at approximately 0·45 eV, 1·05eV, 1·80 eV and 2·35 eV, at the same energies for allx values. The absorption coefficient is of the order of 104 cm−1 and mode of band-to-band transition is of the direct type.  相似文献

Bi2−x Pb x Sr2Ca2Cu3O y superconducting samples with 0<x<0·3 have been synthesized and characterized using X-ray powder diffraction.T c and superconducting volume fraction have been measured using a.c. magnetic susceptibility, d.c. electrical resistivity as well as X-band microwave surface resistance in the normal state. The data indicate the growth of the highT c (2223) phase with corresponding reduction of the lowT c (2122) phase with increasingx, up to 0·25. Beyond this value ofx there is a slight deterioration of the superconducting behaviour.  相似文献

We report first observation of new polymorphs of Al2O3 and Fe2O3 in specimens of xerogelγ Al2O3 andγ Fe2O3 quenched from high pressures and temperatures. At about 5 GPa and 1400°C, xerogel gamma alumina (XGA) transformed into a polymorphic mixture of phasesα Al2O3, B Al2O3 and C Al2O3, while XGA containing 1 wt% Cr2O3 transformed into a mixture of phasesαAl2O3, H Al2O3 and k′ Al2O3. The phases B Al2O3, C Al2O3 and H Al2O3 have the monoclinic-, cubic- and hexagonal-rare earth sequioxide (Ln2O3) type structure, respectively. At 5·2 GPa and 1450°C, XGA yielded a mixture ofα Al2O3 and hexagonalμ Al2O3. At STP, the phaseμ Al2O3 was found to transform to another hexagonal phaseλAl2O3 over a 10 week period. At 5·2 GPa and 900°C,γ Fe2O3 showed transition to a new phase H Fe2O3 which probably has an 8 layer close packed structure. In nanocrystalline TiO2, only the anatase to rutile transition was found. The results are discussed using the free energy vs temperature diagram for xerogel and nanocrystalline materials.  相似文献

n-CuInS2 photoanode has been prepared by spray pyrolysis onto SnO2 deposited glass substrate at 350°C. The conductivity type of the photoanode was tested by hot-probe method and was ofn type. The conductivity of the photoanode was of the order of 2–4Θ−1cm−1 and was measured by using four-probe method. The effect of etching (HCl:HNO3 = 5:1 by volume) on photoanode properties has been studied. The best cell had the following parameters:V oc = 0·29V,I sc = 5·33 mA/cm2,ff = 0·571 and η = 1·275%.  相似文献

Specific heat measurements in zero and7T magnetic fields from 0·4 to 100 K, and magnetic susceptibility measurements aboveT c on a series of polycrystalline samples of YBa2Cu3O7−y (YBCO) reveal a number of regularities. The size of ΔC(T c )/T c for the samples [ΔC(T c ) is the jump in the specific heat atT c ] appears to vary linearly with the low-temperature value of the Debye Θ, with the entropy change between ≈ 85 K andT c induced by the application of a 7 Г magnetic field, and with the variation of the observed low temperatureγ with magnetic field, dγ/dH. On the other hand the temperature-independent part of the magnetic susceptibility aboveT c appears to be essentially independent of ΔC(T c )/T c . These results are consistent with the idea that samples of YBCO belowT c are a mixture of superconducting and normal phases. Thin films of AgSe of varying compositions and thicknesses have been formed on glass substrates employing the three-temperature method.I–V characteristics and thermoelectric power, α, of annealed samples have been measured as functions of composition, thickness and temperature of the films. Films exhibitn-type conductivity. Nonohmic conduction in films of Ag x Se1−x (0<x<0·5) and Ag x Se1−x (0>x>0·5) have been accounted for on the basis of the theory of Rose of defect insulator containing shallow traps and on Schottky emission respectively.  相似文献

When milling micrometer thin Nd2Fe14B platelets, of an average 1–2 mm diameter, in toluene in a closed reactor, part of the toluene decomposes at the surface of the platelets and yields nascent hydrogen and carbon/low hydrocarbons. The hydrogen diffuses into the Nd2Fe14B platelets and the carbon forms a thin surface passivation layer of the platelets, forming the stable Nd2Fe14BH x ,x ≤ 5, hydride at room temperature. On heating in a calorimeter, the hydrogen desorbs off the sample with a well-defined endotherm between 370 and 425 K. An N2 gas atmosphere, if used during the heating, facilitates the H-desorption process with the modified kinetic parameters. For example, the enthalpy of the H-desorption ΔH and the related activation energyE a have the measured values ΔH = 153 J/g andE a = 58·2 kJ/mol in argon and ΔH = 256 J/g andE a = 41·6 kJ/mol in N2. It is argued that N2 gas has a fast reaction with the H atoms desorbing off the thin sample platelets and forms NH3 gas with an instantaneous decrease of the total external gas pressure at the sample. This supports the fast desorption of H atoms in the sample with the modified desorption kinetics in N2 gas.  相似文献

Beta alumina solid electrolyte is a potential candidate in the fabrication of Na-S batteries. In the present study, it has been prepared in the form of discs by uniaxially as well as isostatically pressing and sintering in the temperature range 1585–1630°C, the highest sintered density of 3·25 g/cm3 has been achieved in the samples isostatically pressed and sintered at 1630°C. X-ray analysis of the samples shows formation ofβ″-phase. Microstructure of the sintered samples reveals some darker regions which are attributed to low soda content. Resistivity at 300°C measured by the two-probe method at a frequency of 1 MHz on samples having vacuum-deposited silver electrodes is 15 ohm-cm, which is slightly higher than the value of 5–13 ohm-cm reported in literature using molten sodium electrodes. The activation energy of conductivity is 0·24 eV which is comparable to the literature value of 0·24–0·35 eV.  相似文献

Specific heats were measured on two samples of HoBa2Cu3O7−δ in the temperature range 1·7 K to 10 K. In addition to the known Schottky behaviour, a peak in the specific heat curve was observed near 7·9 K in both the samples. This peak is probably due to impurity contribution and the specific heat measurements were undertaken in holmium oxide (Ho2O3), which was the suspected impurity. However, no peak was observed in the specific heat curve of holmium oxide  相似文献

Ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties ofxPb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3−(1−x)Pb (Zr0·55Ti0·45)O3 system have been investigated. X-ray diffraction patterns indicate rhombohedral and cubic structures. Maximum dielectric constant and piezoelectric properties are exhibited by 0·5–0·5 PMN-PZT composition.P r is high in 0·6–0·4 PMN-PZT composition.  相似文献

Background Bioactive and biodegradable polyurethanes (BDPUs) have drawn much attention in recent years. As part of the research program to search for novel prepolymers for BDPUs, a study was carried out on the synthesis and characterization of triblock copolymers comprising poly(tetrahydrofuran) as a central block and poly(γ-benzyl L-glutamate)s as outer blocks. Results A new macroinitiator terminated with phenylalanine was first prepared from the condensation of a distal hydroxy poly(tetrahydrofuran) with N-tert-butoxycarbonyl L-phenylalanine in the presence of dicyclohexylcarbodiimide, followed by removing the protecting group. Then, it was employed to initiate the ring-opening polymerization of γ-benzyl L-glutamate N-carboxyanhydride in varying feeding ratios to give rise to the targeted triblock copolymers. Conclusions The length of the outer poly(γ-benzyl L-glutamate) blocks was well tailored by varying the monomers to macroinitiator feeding ratio. All the triblock copolymers exhibited a nearly symmetrical and unimodal molecular weight distribution while only one distinct glass transition temperature was evidenced from −10°C to 25°C.  相似文献

Experimental data are presented indicating the effect of small changes of the earth’s magnetic field strength H on the efficiency of ultrapure germanium γ-detectors. With a reduction in H by 0.056 Oe and a simultaneous change in direction by 2.8°, the relative reduction of a planar director efficiency (with a vertical direction of the electric field applied to it) for recording γ-quanta with energy 88.03 keV is 0.00028 ± 0.00013. __________ Translated from Izmeritel’naya Tekhnika, No. 6, pp. 62–64, June, 2008.  相似文献
