With recent advances in semiconductor processing technology and the development of reconfigurable devices, high bit-rate software-defined radio (SDR) has become practical for commercial applications. This paper proposes an SDR receiver platform based on a new substrate integrated waveguide six-port structure. This SDR receiver platform operates from 22 to 26 GHz and it is designed to be robust, low cost, and suitable for different communication schemes. In this study, the receiver is demonstrated to support quadrature phase-shift keying and 16 quadrature amplitude modulation schemes. System-level simulation is made and prototype circuits are fabricated to evaluate the system performance. It is found that the combination of SDR and six-port technology can provide a great flexibility in system configuration, a significant reduction in system development cost, and also a high potential for software reuse. The proposed receiver shows a possible application of universal direct demodulator for future SDR terminals in various wireless communication systems.  相似文献

This paper introduces the concept of highly dependable wireless communications for wireless robotics based on software defined radio (SDR) technologies. The features and advantages of SDR technologies are initially explained, whereupon the research and development activities of KDDI R&D Laboratories are presented. Advanced applications of SDR for telerobotic control, which require highly reliable wireless communications and for multi-mode wireless sensor networks are proposed as potential markets for wireless robotics and machine to machine communication. Finally, the current status and research issues of SDR are summarized and this paper is concluded.  相似文献

Software Defined Radio (SDR) is currently one of the main topics of interest in military communications, as well as in civil ones. Since 2002, the Italian Ministry of Defense (MoD) has identified the SDR technology as a strategic capability. In this respect, Italy has become part of the major multinational programs related to military SDR and waveforms, such as ESSOR (European Secure Software Radio) and COALWNW (COALition Wideband Networking Waveform). In addition, the Italian national SDR program (SDR-N) aims at developing a complete family of SDR products, part of which are already available for fielding. In order to develop a governmental capability of Test and Evaluation (T&E) for future SDR, minimizing the risks related to the fielding of this new technology, a dedicated laboratory, called LANCERS lab, has been established in the premises of CSSN ITE (Centro Supporto e Sperimentazione Navale Istituto per le Telecomunicazioni e lElettronica), a research center of the Italian Navy. LANCERS lab gathers the expertise of military technical personnel and University researchers, to provide a twofold capability: developing T&E strategies and procedures for the new tactical communications based on SDR and maintaining knowledge about the state of the art of SDR, fostering new research and development. In this paper we describe the LANCERS lab in all the following aspects: plan of development, organization, current activities, and future perspectives.  相似文献

This article describes the Open Source SCA Implementation::Embedded project, an open source software development kit designed for rapid prototyping of software defined radios consistent with the software communications architecture. The SCA is a product of the American military's SDR acquisition program and has played a large role in SDR development in the military and in the wireless industry. OSSIE was designed for use in wireless communications curricula and research efforts, so it is easy to learn and illustrative of software engineering, programming, and communications engineering concepts important in industrial practice today. OSSIE includes a core framework (i.e., common services enumerated in the SCA). It also includes graphical user interface-oriented tools that are easily learned and free to download and use. The tools auto-generate SCA-specific component source code and supporting files, leaving the developer to provide signal processing functionality. In addition, visualization tools for debugging and a growing library of SDR software components are available. Discussed herein are examples of SDRs designed using OSSIE, including embedded applications. OSSIE enables easy transition from concepts to practice in SDR design for communications engineers who may not have a strong software background.  相似文献

This article proposes a framework for establishing secure download for software-defined radio (SDR) that follows the current recommendations of SDR-related organizations, and can be employed in a variety of SDR architectures. The main goals of the security system are verification of the declared identity of the source that produces the software to be downloaded, control and verification of integrity of the downloaded data, disabling of the ability to run unauthorized software on the software-defined terminal, and secrecy of the transmitted data to prevent problems such as loss of intellectual property contained in the software. The system includes the following parties: manufacturers of the terminal hardware and software; government authorities relevant for SDR and users of SDR terminals. The underlying ideas for system development include employment of four different cryptographic techniques and tamper-resistant hardware. The cryptographic techniques employed are a secret key encryption technique, a public key encryption technique, a technique for cryptographic hashing, and a technique for digital signature. An important feature of the system is that it provides the possibility to exchange cryptographic components in an automatic manner. The proposed system is flexible, highly secure to protect both users and manufacturers, and provides a framework for the secure commercial implementation of SDR  相似文献
