The statistical learning classification techniques have been successfully applied to statistical process control problems. In this paper, we proposed a one‐sided control chart based on support vector machines (SVMs) and differential evolution (DE) algorithm to monitor a process with multivariate quality characteristics. The SVM classifier provides a continuous distance from the boundary, and the DE algorithm is used to obtain the optimal parameters of the SVM model by minimizing mean absolute error (MAE). The average run length of the proposed chart is computed using the Monte Carlo simulation approach. Several simulated cases are conducted using a multivariate normal distribution with 10 and 20 dimensions and three different process shift scenarios. In addition, we consider two non‐normal distribution cases. The ARL performance of the proposed chart is better than the distance‐based SVM chart. A real example is used to illustrate the application of the proposed control chart.  相似文献

Multivariate exponentially weighted moving average (MEWMA) control chart with five different estimators as population covariance matrix is rarely applied to monitor small fluctuations in the statistical process control. In this article, mathematical models of the five estimators (S1, S2, S3, S4, S5) are established, with which the relevant MEWMA control charts are obtained, respectively. Thereafter, the process monitoring performance of the five control charts is simulated. And the simulation results show that the S4 estimator-based MEWMA control chart is of the best performance both in step offset failure mode and ramp offset failure mode. Since the inline process monitoring of photovoltaic manufacturing is intended to be a problem of multivariate statistics process analysis, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed model are elaborated in the case study during the cell testing and sorting process control for the fabrication of multicrystalline silicon solar cells.  相似文献

With the rapid growth of the autonomous system, deep learning has become integral parts to enumerate applications especially in the case of healthcare systems. Human body vertebrae are the longest and complex parts of the human body. There are numerous kinds of conditions such as scoliosis, vertebra degeneration, and vertebrate disc spacing that are related to the human body vertebrae or spine or backbone. Early detection of these problems is very important otherwise patients will suffer from a disease for a lifetime. In this proposed system, we developed an autonomous system that detects lumbar implants and diagnoses scoliosis from the modified Vietnamese x-ray imaging. We applied two different approaches including pre-trained APIs and transfer learning with their pre-trained models due to the unavailability of sufficient x-ray medical imaging. The results show that transfer learning is suitable for the modified Vietnamese x-ray imaging data as compared to the pre-trained API models. Moreover, we also explored and analyzed four transfer learning models and two pre-trained API models with our datasets in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity.  相似文献

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an extremely infectious disease and possibly causes acute respiratory distress or in severe cases may lead to death. There has already been some research in dealing with coronavirus using machine learning algorithms, but few have presented a truly comprehensive view. In this research, we show how convolutional neural network (CNN) can be useful to detect COVID-19 using chest X-ray images. We leverage the CNN-based pre-trained models as feature extractors to substantiate transfer learning and add our own classifier in detecting COVID-19. In this regard, we evaluate performance of five different pre-trained models with fine-tuning the weights from some of the top layers. We also develop an ensemble model where the predictions from all chosen pre-trained models are combined to generate a single output. The models are evaluated through 5-fold cross validation using two publicly available data repositories containing healthy and infected (both COVID-19 and other pneumonia) chest X-ray images. We also leverage two different visualization techniques to observe how efficiently the models extract important features related to the detection of COVID- 19 patients. The models show high degree of accuracy, precision, and sensitivity. We believe that the models will aid medical professionals with improved and faster patient screening and pave a way to further COVID-19 research.  相似文献

A control chart is one of the primary techniques used in statistical process control. In phase I, historical observations are analysed in order to construct a control chart with which to determine whether the process has been in control over the period of time in which the data were collected. The presence of multiple outliers may go undetected by the usual control charts, such as Hotelling's T2 due to the masking effect. In this paper we propose a robust alternative to Hotelling's T2 control chart with estimators defined using trimming. Simulation studies show that the proposed control chart is more effective than T2 in detecting outliers. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The basic fundamentals of statistical process control (SPC) were proposed by Walter Shewhart for data-starved production environments typical in the 1920s and 1930s. In the 21st century, the traditional scarcity of data has given way to a data-rich environment typical of highly automated and computerized modern processes. These data often exhibit high correlation, rank deficiency, low signal-to-noise ratio, multistage and multiway structures, and missing values. Conventional univariate and multivariate SPC techniques are not suitable in these environments. This article discusses the paradigm shift to which those working in the quality improvement field should pay keen attention. We advocate the use of latent structure–based multivariate statistical process control methods as efficient quality improvement tools in these massive data contexts. This is a strategic issue for industrial success in the tremendously competitive global market.  相似文献

Sentiment analysis is a research hot spot in the field of natural language processing and content security. Traditional methods are often difficult to handle the problems of large difference in sample distribution and the data in the target domain is transmitted in a streaming fashion. This paper proposes a sentiment analysis method based on Kmeans and online transfer learning in the view of fact that most existing sentiment analysis methods are based on transfer learning and offline transfer learning. We first use the Kmeans clustering algorithm to process data from one or multiple source domains and select the data similar to target domain data to establish the classifier, so that the processed data does not negatively transfer the data in the target domain. And then create a new classifier based on the new target domain. The source domain classifier and target domain classifier are combined with certain weights by using the homogeneous online transfer learning method to achieve sentiment analysis. The experimental results show that this method has achieved better performance in terms of error rate and classification accuracy.  相似文献

Deep learning created a sharp rise in the development of autonomous image recognition systems, especially in the case of the medical field. Among lung problems, tuberculosis, caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is a dangerous disease because of its infection and damage. When an infected person coughs or sneezes, tiny droplets can bring pathogens to others through inhaling. Tuberculosis mainly damages the lungs, but it also affects any part of the body. Moreover, during the period of the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic, the access to tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment has become more difficult, so early and simple detection of tuberculosis has been more and more important. In our study, we focused on tuberculosis diagnosis by using the chest X-ray image, the essential input for the radiologist’s profession, and researched the effectiveness of the transfer learning approach in the case study of Vietnamese chest X-ray images. We proposed four strategies to clarify our hypothesis in different ways of applying transfer learning and different training set types. We also prepared a Vietnamese X-ray image dataset with the support of the VRPACS team to provide the basis for training and testing deep learning models. Our experiments were carried out by applying three different architectures, Alexnet, Resnet, and Densenet, on international, Vietnamese, and combined X-ray image datasets. After training, all models were verified on a pure Vietnamese X-rays set. The results show that transfer learning is suitable in the case study of Vietnamese chest X-ray images with high evaluating metrics in terms of AUC (Area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve), sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy. In the best strategy, most of the scores were more than 0.93, and all AUCs were more than 0.98.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this paper, the heat transfer characteristics of a 2D gas–solid spout fluidized bed with a hot gas jet are investigated using computational fluid dynamics-discrete element method. The initial temperature of the background gas and particles in the spouted bed was set to 300?K. The particle temperature distribution after injection of 500?K gas from the bottom, center of the bed, is presented. The simulation results indicate well heat transfer behavior in the bed. Then, statistical analysis is conducted to investigate the influence of inlet gas velocity and particle thermal conductivity on the heat transfer at particle scale in detail. The results indicate that the particle mean temperature and convective heat transfer coefficient (HTC) linearly increase with the increase in inlet gas velocity, while the conductive HTC and the uniformity of particle temperature distribution are dominated by the particle thermal conductivity. The conductive and convective heat transfer play different roles in the spout fluidized bed. These results should be useful for the further research in such flow pattern and the optimization of operating such spouted fluidized beds.  相似文献

Abstract

I discuss the article “Real-time monitoring of events applied to syndromic surveillance” by Sparks and collaborators. This discussion focuses on how statistical network modeling and inference can be used to augment the analysis done in their paper. In particular I describe what network models can be used to characterize the dynamics and interactions of Twitter users, and more broadly how network analysis can be used to benefit statistical process monitoring. I hope to not only provide readers a new perspective on how to approach statistical process monitoring in the context of social interactions, but also to motivate future research that address the unique challenges facing quality engineers.  相似文献

A key problem faced in the design of heat exchangers, especially for cryogenic applications, is the determination of convective heat transfer coefficients in two-phase flow such as condensation and boiling of non-azeotropic refrigerant mixtures. This paper proposes and evaluates three models for estimating the convective coefficient during boiling. These models are developed using computational intelligence techniques. The performance of the proposed models is evaluated using the mean relative error (mre), and compared to two existing models: the modified Granryd’s correlation and the Silver-Bell-Ghaly method. The three proposed models are distinguished by their architecture. The first is based on directly measured parameters (DMP-ANN), the second is based on equivalent Reynolds and Prandtl numbers (eq-ANN), and the third on effective Reynolds and Prandtl numbers (eff-ANN).The results demonstrate that the proposed artificial neural network (ANN)-based approaches greatly outperform available methodologies. While Granryd's correlation predicts experimental data within a mean relative error mre = 44% and the S-B-G method produces mre = 42%, DMP-ANN has mre = 7.4% and eff-ANN has mre = 3.9%. Considering that eff-ANN has the lowest mean relative error (one tenth of previously available methodologies) and the broadest range of applicability, it is recommended for future calculations. Implementation is straightforward within a variety of platforms and the matrices with the ANN weights are given in the appendix for efficient programming.  相似文献

In economic design of profiles, parameters of a profile are determined such that the total implementation cost is minimized. These parameters consist of the number of set points, n, the interval between two successive sampling, h, and the parameters of a control chart used for monitoring. In this paper, the Lorenzen–Vance cost function is extended to model the costs associated with implementing profiles. The in‐control and the out‐of‐control average run lengths, ARL0 and ARL1, respectively, are used as two statistical measures to evaluate the statistical performances of the proposed model. A genetic algorithm (GA) is developed for solving both the economic and the economic‐statistical models, where response surface methodology is employed to tune the GA parameters. Results indicate satisfactory statistical performance without much increase in the cost of implementation. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal. Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals, as recordings of brain activity, have been widely used for epilepsy recognition. To study epileptic EEG signals and develop artificial intelligence (AI)-assist recognition, a multi-view transfer learning (MVTL-LSR) algorithm based on least squares regression is proposed in this study. Compared with most existing multi-view transfer learning algorithms, MVTL-LSR has two merits: (1) Since traditional transfer learning algorithms leverage knowledge from different sources, which poses a significant risk to data privacy. Therefore, we develop a knowledge transfer mechanism that can protect the security of source domain data while guaranteeing performance. (2) When utilizing multi-view data, we embed view weighting and manifold regularization into the transfer framework to measure the views’ strengths and weaknesses and improve generalization ability. In the experimental studies, 12 different simulated multi-view & transfer scenarios are constructed from epileptic EEG signals licensed and provided by the University of Bonn, Germany. Extensive experimental results show that MVTL-LSR outperforms baselines. The source code will be available on .  相似文献

Currently, breast cancer has been a major cause of deaths in women worldwide and the World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed this. The severity of this disease can be minimized to the large extend, if it is diagnosed properly at an early stage of the disease. Therefore, the proper treatment of a patient having cancer can be processed in better way, if it can be diagnosed properly as early as possible using the better algorithms. Moreover, it has been currently observed that the deep neural networks have delivered remarkable performance for detecting cancer in histopathological images of breast tissues. To address the above said issues, this paper presents a hybrid model using the transfer learning to study the histopathological images, which help in detection and rectification of the disease at a low cost. Extensive dataset experiments were carried out to validate the suggested hybrid model in this paper. The experimental results show that the proposed model outperformed the baseline methods, with F-scores of 0.81 for DenseNet + Logistic Regression hybrid model, (F-score: 0.73) for Visual Geometry Group (VGG) + Logistic Regression hybrid model, (F-score: 0.74) for VGG + Random Forest, (F-score: 0.79) for DenseNet + Random Forest, and (F-score: 0.79) for VGG + Densenet + Logistic Regression hybrid model on the dataset of histopathological images.  相似文献

Chronological age estimation using panoramic dental X-ray images is an essential task in forensic sciences. Various statistical approaches have proposed by considering the teeth and mandible. However, building automated dental age estimation based on machine learning techniques needs more research efforts. In this paper, an automated dental age estimation is proposed using transfer learning. In the proposed approach, features are extracted using two deep neural networks namely, AlexNet and ResNet. Several classifiers are proposed to perform the classification task including decision tree, k-nearest neighbor, linear discriminant, and support vector machine. The proposed approach is evaluated using a number of suitable performance metrics using a dataset that contains 1429 dental X-ray images. The obtained results show that the proposed approach has a promising performance.  相似文献

With the growth of automation in manufacturing, process quality characteristics are being measured at higher rates and data is more likely to be auto-correlated. Traditional statistical process control (SPC) techniques of control charting are not applicable in many process industries because process parameters are highly auto-correlated. Several attempts such as some time series based control charts have been made in the previous years to extend traditional SPC techniques. However, these extensions pose some serious limitations for monitoring the process mean shifts. These charts require that a suitable model has been identified for the time series of process observations before residuals can be obtained. In this paper, a logistic regression (LR)-based process monitoring model is proposed for enhancing the monitoring of processes. It is capable of providing a comprehensible and quantitative assessment value for the current process state, which is achieved by the event occurrence probability calculation of LR. Based on these probability values over the time series, a novel chart: LRProb chart, is developed for monitoring and visualising process changes. The aim of this research is to analyse the performance of the LRProb chart under the assumption that only a small number of predictable abnormal patterns are available. To such aim, the performance of the LRProb chart is evaluated on two real-world industrial cases and simulated processes. Given the simplicity, visualisation and quantification of the proposed LRProb chart, this approach is proved from the experiments to be a feasible alternative for quality monitoring in the case of auto-correlated process data.  相似文献

Human gait recognition (HGR) has received a lot of attention in the last decade as an alternative biometric technique. The main challenges in gait recognition are the change in in-person view angle and covariant factors. The major covariant factors are walking while carrying a bag and walking while wearing a coat. Deep learning is a new machine learning technique that is gaining popularity. Many techniques for HGR based on deep learning are presented in the literature. The requirement of an efficient framework is always required for correct and quick gait recognition. We proposed a fully automated deep learning and improved ant colony optimization (IACO) framework for HGR using video sequences in this work. The proposed framework consists of four primary steps. In the first step, the database is normalized in a video frame. In the second step, two pre-trained models named ResNet101 and InceptionV3 are selected and modified according to the dataset's nature. After that, we trained both modified models using transfer learning and extracted the features. The IACO algorithm is used to improve the extracted features. IACO is used to select the best features, which are then passed to the Cubic SVM for final classification. The cubic SVM employs a multiclass method. The experiment was carried out on three angles (0, 18, and 180) of the CASIA B dataset, and the accuracy was 95.2, 93.9, and 98.2 percent, respectively. A comparison with existing techniques is also performed, and the proposed method outperforms in terms of accuracy and computational time.  相似文献

Context: Since the end of 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic had a worst impact on world’s economy, healthcare, and education. There are several aspects where the impact of COVID-19 could be visualized. Among these, one aspect is the productivity of researcher, which plays a significant role in the success of an organization. Problem: There are several factors that could be aligned with the researcher’s productivity of each domain and whose analysis through researcher’s feedback could be beneficial for decision makers in terms of their decision making and implementation of mitigation plans for the success of an organization. Method: We perform an empirical study to investigate the substantial impact of COVID-19 on the productivity of researchers by analyzing the relevant factors through their perceptions. Our study aims to find out the impact of COVID-19 on the researcher’s productivity that are working in different fields. In this study, we conduct a questionnaire-based analysis, which included feedback of 152 researchers of certain domains. These researchers are currently involved in different research activities. Subsequently, we perform a statistical analysis to analyze the collected responses and report the findings. Findings: The results indicate the substantial impact of COVID-19 pandemics on the researcher’s productivity in terms of mental disturbance, lack of regular meetings, and field visits for the collection of primary data. Conclusion: Finally, it is concluded that researcher’s daily or weekly meetings with their supervisors and colleagues are necessary to keep them more productive in task completion. These findings would help the decision makers of an organization in the settlement of their plan for the success of an organization.  相似文献

Abstract:

The current global customer trend requires companies across domains to reduce their product development lifecycle. As a result the exploration of methodologies that will support rapid system development has been gaining importance. The primary focus of this article is to provide a framework for comparative analysis of rapid system development methodologies. The purpose of this framework is to help the project managers and systems engineers choose and tailor an appropriate rapid development methodology to suit their development context and environment. Toward this, the framework identifies and defines a set of critical rapid development attributes. The article redefines rapid system development as adopting methodologies, tools, and techniques that can introduce rapidity into the system development processes while optimizing the success factors of development. The success factors are specific to the system under development and they depend on the system, product line, organization, and customers. Some of the common success factors are return-on-investment (ROI), cost of ownership, other performance factors, and customer satisfaction. The article provides a fundamental discussion on the current rapid system development methodologies, metrics, tools, and techniques.  相似文献

In this paper two multivariate statistical methodologies are compared in order to estimate a multi‐input multi‐output transfer function model in an industrial polymerization process. In these contexts, process variables are usually autocorrelated (i.e. there is time‐dependence between observations), posing some problems to classical linear regression models. The two methodologies to be compared are both related to the analyses of multivariate time series: Box‐Jenkins methodology and partial least squares time series. Both methodologies are compared keeping in mind different issues, such as the simplicity of the process modeling (i.e. the steps of the identification, estimation and validation of the model), the usefulness of the graphical tools, the goodness of fit, and the parsimony of the estimated models. Real data from a polymerization process are used to illustrate the performance of the methodologies under study. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
